Lion's Choice is easily my favorite fast food restaurant. Everything is super fresh and made to order. They prepare the roast beef to the perfect temperature, but they'll also serve it your way if you want it overcooked. I highly recommend, adding cheese. It just makes the sandwich more flavorful. If you like their seasoning salt, you can have them add a few extra shakes from the shaker. When someone ask, "Who has the best fast food, french fries?" I will always answer, Lion's Choice. Their fries are thin, crispy and have skins on them. They're lightly salted, so for me, they are the perfect french fries. I like the condiment bar, where you can add different sauces and a variety of other toppings. For me, a lover of jalapeños, I always add a few to my sandwich. I also, appreciate the small paper cups that you can fill with ketchup to did those tasty crispy fries in. Service is always fast and friendly, making it easy to get in and out if you're on a time schedule.

    Rare roast beef!

Asked for rare roast beef and they got it perfect. The register guy was cheerful and outgoing and I felt welcome. The only negative was that the fries were warm, but a little on the soggy side.

Lion's Choice has the best roast beef sandwiches! I love the condiment bar with so many sauce choices and the au jus. Of course I have to try them all! And their chocolate dipped cones make a nice little treat for dessert :)

I absolutely love Lions choice! I got the large roast beef meal. Side of cheese for fries. I love all the toppings at condiments counter. I can add pickles, onions all different sauces, bbq sauce, and some others but I forgot. The best fountain soda!!!! I luv the diet Dr Pepper. Roast beef is so tender and flavorful and the staff were very friendly & helpful !!

I love roast beef and before I made my way to the airport I decided to give it a try. The combo came with tasty thin cut fries. Jus the way I love them. The roast beef sandwich was good. I wish they had the option to add Swiss cheese and maybe even Brie. The roast beef is pretty good, only thing is missing is a more crispy sandwich instead of the soft one. Lions Choice was a good choice though before going home.

Name and payment info blacked out

In Wentzville from out of town. Thought we'd try something new, with a delivery to our hotel. Never tried Lion's choice. Regrets are many. The food did show up on time! 2 baked potatoes were made exactly the same, though they were not ordered that way. 1 was cold and not quite cooked. I had not ordered cheese or bacon on mine so the congealed cheese sauce and hunk of stuck together "bacon" bits was rather unappetizing. I didn't realize it would be difficult to get a baked potato with butter, sour cream, and chives, but apparently it is! Not to mention we asked for and were charged for extra sour cream but did not get that. 2 Italian Beef sandwiches with mild giardiniera peppers. 1 w/ pepper jack cheese 1 w/ "provel" cheese. What exactly is "provel" cheese, anyway? This sandwich was honestly the single most salty sandwich I have ever had! And I love salt. But there was so much salt it ruined the sandwich. My husbands was the same. Hopefully, we don't end up sick from this garbage. I don't know what the other reviewers ate there that gave 4 + stars but trust me it wasn't this sandwich! The only good thing about this meal was the mac & cheese and that was just good. All told (including tip and delivery fee) that was $45 we should have spent at Domino's, at least there you have a pretty good idea what you are getting won't be great but will at least be edible. Do not recommend wasting your time or money on this place.

    Bendy straw

What can I say that hasn't already been said; lions choice straws bum me out, I would've been better off with a blade of grass. I went to Andy's across the street just to get a decent straw. I like the lids though?

    "King" sandwich? Laughable.

The ingredients seemed good but my chicken thigh was cheap, the chicken was burned, the sauce was too salty, and the sandwich was half heartedly put together. The fries and sauce were very good -- and obviously required the least effort. That's what gives me hope. The restaurant itself has sticky floors (which I've tried to avoid after I turned 30) and is a bit of a mess. There's a towel sitting under the big jug of water. It's just not clean or easy to be in. I saw the pics when you guys were a food truck. I know you were making incredible stuff. The gal at the front was friendly enough, but all in all this was a bull*hit experience considering the potential. The restaurants that are consistently good have the owners/head chef watching, caring, and making sure their workers deliver the experience that was intended. I have no doubt if someone who really cared showed up this place would be all I was hoping.

It is a Trojan horse for one of the best burgers in St. Louis (my wife says I'm being dramatic for calling it THE best; I say I am not NOT going back for another). We enjoyed everything we order: the pork belly burnt ends and cashew chicken wings, and a coffee & cardamom old fashioned that sounds like a personality disorder but tastes like a vibe, smoky, a touch sweet, and very drinkable year-round. The Sam Elliott burger, BBQ sauce, bacon, crunchy onions, brioche, is named for a man who has never disappointed anyone, and neither does the sandwich. And the meatloaf is NOT your grandma's brick: tender, charred at the edges, laid over silky mashed potatoes with broccolini, perhaps closer to a chop steak than a loaf in the best possible way. Vibe is farm-chic: old church pews, repurposed interior doors, a proper bar up front, plus a patio and rooftop for when the weather cooperates. Fun fact -- it's named after the blue duck Billy Madison paints in elementary school, which is a fantastic piece of trivia and tells you absolutely nothing accurate about the actual restaurant. 4.7 Stars. Picking Nits: the counter-order setup is efficient, but it sets expectations in the wrong direction for the first 90 seconds, you brace for fast-casual and instead get something considerably more ambitious. Food comes out fast once you've ordered, which is great if you're hungry and slightly jarring if you wanted a slow, lingering dinner. And the Billy Madison naming is charming trivia but entirely misleading as a vibe preview, no complaints about the actual restaurant, just the branding expectations it sets. If The Blue Duck were a character: Ron Swanson. Hear me out. If Ron ate here, he'd be suspicious of the entire experience until his first bite of protein -- the counter ordering, the repurposed doors, a burger named after a fellow mustachioed American, all of it registering as potentially too clever. Then the Sam Elliott hits his plate, he takes one bite, and the skepticism dissolves into the quiet respect of a man who has found his people. Looks rustic. Has strong feelings about meat. Secretly sophisticated -- plays saxophone in a jazz club under a fake name, builds his own furniture, would 100% approve of the farm-chic decor once the protein has spoken. Presents as simple. Isn't.

I stopped in to pick up a pork loin because I was around the corner, looking for ~3-4lbs of meat. They only had a 1 1/2 pound in the case (order taker weighed it to confirm before going to the back, which should've been my first warning) so I asked if they had any larger ones. They were nice enough to check and offer to cut one. That's where things went downhill. After waiting 5 or 10 minutes, my order taker came back out to ask how I wanted it prepped (bone or boneless, skin on or off). I said skin off and ambivalent on the bones. This was my mistake, leaving my fate to the hands of someone profit motivated. I walked out with just about a 3 pound bone in roast, which is maybe half a pound more meat than the one and a half pound I turned down - not enough for my guests and I. Had I gotten a roast closer to 4lbs, I would've been unhappy with the price but not enough to write a review. Additionally, they only charged a dollar less for bone in. At $15/lb, I effectively paid the price of their beef for the meat after accounting for the bone. I felt tricked. In hindsight, I should've just turned it down when I saw the price, but I was a bit too shocked to say anything. So I paid my bill and swore that I wouldn't be coming back for anything but (maybe) sausage or a snack again.

This was so good; we came here the whole week we were in St. Louis for lunch! The office I was working in was on the same block as Pastaria Deli & Wine, so a less than five-minute walk from the office, so no driving or need to hail an Uber was awesome. Inside there are wine bottles all over the walls and it just has this cozy, Italian café/deli vibe. Depending on when you get there, the line to the cash register can snake out the door, but it moves pretty fast. There's a surprising number of tables inside and since the weather was nice, there were several tables out in front. Each day, we had the same cashier, Carly (I believe that's her name). Carly was incredibly bubbly, cute, fun! Once we placed our order, we received a metal tag with a number on it and found a table. I didn't order any sort of specialty drink; I took advantage of the free water located near the back of the restaurant. The time from when we placed our order to getting our lunch was pretty quick, even when the place was packed for lunch. So for the three days I was in St. Louis, I ordered these three sandwiches: 1. Il Capo Italiano: Lemon ricotta, mortadella, soppressata, mozzarella, giardiniera, salted potato chips (Miss Vickie's most likely), arugula, red wine vinegar, & extra virgin olive oil on a 6.5" Union Loafers Hoagie - A jam-packed sandwich! The lemon ricotta was amazing and the crunch from the salted potato chips was excellent. Beware that this sandwich is heavy on the oils, so be prepared to "wear" this sandwich the rest of the day unless you brought your toothbrush. haha This sandwich was plenty thick, the slices of mozzarella really helped to make this sandwich thick and filling. 2. Volpi Heritage Prosciutto: Volpi Heritage prosciutto, butter, lemon olive oil, & house-made giardiniera on a 6.5" Union Loafers Hoagie - The lemon olive oil was a very pleasant flavor, not too strong. Of the three sandwiches I ordered, this was the smallest in terms of fillings but it was still plenty filling for lunch with a bag of Miss Vicky's Spicy Dill Pickle chips! 3. Chicken Bacon Ranch: Thin sliced chicken breast, bacon, smoked cheddar cheese, tomato, arugula, banana peppers, & jalapeno-ricotta ranch on a 6.5" Union Loafers Hoagie - The sliced chicken breast was piled on thick and the bacon was a welcome addition. There was plenty arugula and banana peppers inside but the jalapeno-ricotta ranch elevated this! Creamy with a slight spicy kick to it. I didn't have one bad meal here and for the quality and quantity, I felt the prices were pretty reasonable, especially in the year 2026. Pastaria Deli & Wine is an awesome lunch spot! The friendly staff, cool, authentic Italian-vibes, fast service, and the quality food, it comes together here! I can't wait to come back through St. Louis for work and stop in here again for lunch, maybe I'll even treat myself to some of their gelato!

Eventually, I'd run out of money and be forced to live out of doors, perhaps in a tent in the park across the street. It would almost be worth it. Kentzo Koffee is not without its flaws, but it's a good place to have a coffee ("koffee") and a light breakfast. It's not clear to me how long it's been around, but it's possible they have a few issues that just need ironing out. A guy from my running group who lives nearby was running down the litany of businesses that have been in this space. Is this location cursed? Was a Native American killed there? This is no fault of Kentzo, but there was some confusion as to whether the breakfast bowl comes with eggs. I could have sworn that it doesn't and that the menu made this clear, but a few members of my group, who are girls with whom I'm not inclined to outwardly disagree, insisted that it does. It seems like it should anyway, right? What's a breakfast bowl without eggs? You could just as easily have such a bowl for lunch. That's unacceptable. This place had umpteen baristas, including one dressed like she was working for tips in a place frequented by bikers (she looked amazing), but they were barely keeping up with orders. This was fine with me. I didn't have anywhere to be, and my drink--an iced vanilla latte, natch--was good when it finally came out. But this is not the kind of place to stop and grab a quick drink on your way to work. There was only one guy making food, as far as I can tell, and he was on it. He made my Breakfast Bowl w/ Bacon and brought it out before I got my drink. He warned me that the bowl was hot, but he was holding it with his bare hand. He must think that I'm actually *from* Maplewood. I had to have the girl who handed me my drink fetch my cinnamon roll. Were they supposed to hand it to me when I ordered? Were they hoping I'd just forget? The cinnamon roll was cold, like maybe it sat in a refrigerator overnight. It occurred to me that it almost certainly wasn't made that day, but it didn't seem particularly stale or prepackaged. It cost more than I paid for most meals in the pre-Brandon era, and it occurred to me that they could just give you a bit less, not charge as much, and I'd be fine with that. Did I devour the whole thing in a few bites anyway, like I just got out of jail? Yes. Yes, I did.
