I've always considered lisa's pizza as the best in the city. the perfect thin crust squares. my favorite is the pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onion and black olive pizza, with a side of anchovies. the jukebox is awesome, with a selection that ranges from journey to frank sinatra to bb king to the isley brothers. Lisa's is great!! We just moved into the neighborhood and were referred by a few people to try it out. So we went there on a Friday evening, and LOVED the old Juke box and choosing fun ol' tunes for our dinner. Staff were very friendly, had the time to chat and give good suggestion. We got a thin crust pizza with a hand full of toppings. They are very generous on the toppings and the sauce has a bit of a sweetness to it.. YUM!! OH, and before I forget you must try the cannolis!! We got delivery the second time we ordered. Was very quick and delish. The one thing I would say is don't order extra and think you will eat it the next day. Because they don't skimp on toppings and the crust is thin, it has a tendency to become soggy overnight. read more

Not a bad place. Got the XL sausage and pepperoni pizza for carry out. When I first called they either were busy or couldn't apprehend what I was saying. I had to repeat my self 3 or 4 times which I don't mind. When I picked it up there was one family sitting in the small pizzeria, and nobody was working out in there. Little awkward sitting there for a minute or two before somebody came out and asked what i wanted and were much nicer in person than on the phone. I was highly recommended this place by one of my bosses that I work with that it is one of his favorites, even better than Pizza Man/Zaffiros. I really didn't think it was that great of a pizza. Pretty average sauce, decent thin crust, but you could tell the pepperoni and sausage were fresh which I always enjoy. Probably won't get this place again due what I think is average pizza for a high price! Worth a try though since it has been here for years! read more

In a city devoid of quality pizza, Lisa's is slightly above average. Small dining room but also does carryout, this east side joint is well priced for what you get - a step above Pizza Shuttle but not quite on Pizzaman's level. Nice if you're in the neighborhood, but probably not worth searching out. read more

Incredibly delicious thin crust pizza. They have different crusts, but the thin is what they're known for. It's very Pizza-Man-like. And that's a good thing because Pizza Man is/was my favorite Milwaukee pizza of all-time. I have done carry out a lot here, but the inside is quaint and old school and it kinda feels like eating pizza in someone's 1970's rec room. If you're near UWM, check it out. My one gripe about this place is that they will not honor their website's $2 coupon unless you physically print it out and give it to them. I mentioned it on the phone when I called in to order and then pulled it up on my iPod when I came to pick up the pizza. No dice. I just find that ridiculous. Ah well. read more

After living nearby for close to 4 years, my boyfriend and I finally tried Lisa's pizza on a Friday night. We heard good things. And funny enough, while walking there, we ran into a friend who raved about it. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was really disappointed. Looking over the menu, I felt prices were a little high. $17 for a 16" cheese? Individual toppings are more than $2 each, which felt a little high and limiting. But I dismissed it, because I expected good quality. We ordered the veggie, which came with mushrooms, green pepper and onion. I asked if you could substitute veggies, and they said no. I liked the thin crust, but by the middle, it was hard to eat. I needed to roll it up to keep it together. I went through two big napkins, but really should have just used a knife and fork. Too many toppings may be too much for such a thin crust. After we finished eating our meal, we waited literally 25-30 min for our bill. She did stop by TWICE to tell us she'd be coming with it, but we continued to see her waiting on all the tables surrounding us. I thought maybe they were just understaffed. But after looking around, it wasn't that packed. Busy yes, but manageable for two waitresses. We parked in one hour parking (we knew we'd be a bit over that, and that's on us), but waiting 25 min after an hour long meal was kind of ridiculous. Be wary of timed parking or if you have somewhere to be afterwards. All in all, really disappointed with the price, for the quality and service. I hate to say it, but I wish i'd gone to Riverwest Pizza. At least I'd have better options for my money. If you want basic pepperoni or cheese pizza, then Lisa's is probably fine. But if you want a more specialty pizza, expect to pay more than it's worth. And don't have somewhere to be after... read more

I frequent this Milwaukee staple every year around Christmas and usually once or twice throughout the rest of the year. We always dine-in with a medium to large group as its a family tradition to get the outta-towners back to the UWM area they originally grew up around. The quaint and small dining area is cute and easy on the eyes. Although the last time we were there, the downside of being in small dining area was having to deal with the dumb-ass loner who turned the volume on his phone to the max and was playing a loud and obnoxious game while our group tried to hold a conversation. I'm usually the kind to say something, but not in front of the in-laws. The servers are usually quick and prompt to get refills. They are friendly with special orders, we have vegans, vegitarians, lactose intolerant people, and picky kid eater who only eats plain cheese pizza and specific soda with no ice. On our last visit we enjoyed the eggplant so much we were convinced into ordering seconds. Of course the pizza, like most of the reviewers have said, is thin crust and delicious. The variety of ingredient choices is good, the size of the pizza is generous, and the ingredients seem to taste fresh to me. The have a small but good beer selection including local brews such as Lakefront Brewery. Pizza is one of my favorites, and this pizza place ranks in my top 10 of pizzas in Milwaukee area. read more

It does not compete with NYC pizza. It is not the best pizza in Milwaukee, or even good pizza. This place was a complete let down. I don't understand how this place gets good reviews. I am from NY and love good pizza. Pizza is not served on a super thin soggy crust cut into tiny squares. I don't know what Lisa's is serving but it's not pizza, and I will never go back. Also, if you're eating in. The entire place looks old, musty and cheap. Terrible menu. How this place stays open and keeps customers is beyond me. read more

I'm new to Milwaukee and saw this place in the neighborhood. Me and my girlfriend walked past this place several times and were attracted to the idea of coming to eat there. She called it the kind of the place you would go on a date. So we finally go in there and walk up the steps to come up to the dining area. It's a very quaint place with a nice simple menu. It's really good pizza and has a good selection of dinner and dessert. We had a shrimps, with green peppers, and pineapple. It was awesome and had a delicious crust and sauce. Yummy pizza! Fried eggplant is also delicious, and I don't even really like eggplant :-). I'm told that there are printable coupons, but I have yet to bring one in. This place is the located on the second floor of an old house, so be prepared to walk up some stairs and be a little confused with trying to find the front door. The inside is super cute (kinda small), but it's perfect for dates and families alike. Waitresses are eh. They never stand out as being overly friendly and can provide slow service. Lisa's on Milwaukee's east side is the gold standard in pizza, especially on dine-in. They offer a wide variety of toppings, and though the thin crust is their specialty, go ahead and try the medium or thick crust pizzas, too, it could seriously make your evening. Ask if Gary (the 'Don') is working, he'll be delighted to make you a Don Crust pizza (not on the menu), which very well could be the most satisfying thing you'll ever eat! 5 stars. read more

I love Lisa's Pizza! They are one of the top pizzerias, not just in MKE but in the US. I really don't do chains, but I look forward to coming home to MKE to have Lisa's. I've only recently moved to Milwaukee less than a year ago and was excited to try out all of the new restaurants in my area. As a college student, I'm a big pizza person, and it's a larger part of my diet than I'd like to admit! I've been a fan of Lisa's ever since I tried it the first time a few months ago, and I always feel completely satisfied after a meal there. My friends and I usually order a large cheese pizza and either mozzeralla sticks or calamari as an appetizer. While the appetizers are pretty good (although nothing to rave about), the pizza is the reason I come back. Pizzas are very thin, full of flavor, and a great balance of salty and sweet. I also enjoy the atmosphere, as it's very dim and quiet most times. Although the interior could use a bit of an upgrade, it doesn't detract from the experience as a whole. The reviews were a tad mixed going into this experience but I thought that I would give it a shot. I walked in and the place was pretty empty so it shouldn't have been a big deal to get served quickly. Wrong. The servers were too busy in the back playing around on their phones, showing each other videos, loudly playing sounds. It was a bit irritating. I wanted to order a glass of wine but the cheapest was $9/glass. Seriously? I settled for water and an order of mozzarella sticks which were just OK. Definitely not homemade. I ordered a large pizza which was just OK. It tasted fine, nothing too special. Overall the food was just alright and the service was something to be desired. We've lived in Milwaukee three different times in 3 different decades. Lots has changed in those many years, but Lisa's remains. It not the ONLY pizza place we like in the world, but it ranks with the very best over all those years and in the four places we have lived in the US. Our favorite is to have them load it up with extra cheese (this being Wisconsin after all) and go from there. Everything about the pizza is first rate, whether eating there or taking it out. I've had the lasagna also, and it's excellent. The large salad is wonderful and will serve at least two, and often 3 depending. It's a shame I haven't tried more of their menu selections (and I AM going to do a shrimp pizza based on Erika B.'s comments), but when you find something as good as the pizza and lasagna Lisa's serves it's hard to stray off into other items. Because it is something of an institution in the East Side community, you will see families dining there; the atmosphere is cozy and a little dark, perfect for conversation. A winter night in Milwaukee is always warmer with a stop at Lisa's. read more

I've only ever been here twice, and ordered pasta both times. And this could quite possibly be my mistake. Their red sauce is meh and my ravioli dish came out DROWNING in it. Literally had to fish for my pasta. I've heard really good things about their pizza, so I will be going back sometime soon to try it. HOWEVER, the service there is TERRIBLE! The last time I went, we waited awkwardly at the top of the stairs for about 5 minutes and then decided to just seat ourselves. When our waitress finally came over, she was definitely in a bad mood. Took forever to get our food, and they didn't come back to check on us/refill our beverages. My dining companion and I were there for about 2 hours total and the tiny dining area wasn't even 1/4 full.
