For the past year, Little Beijing has become my go-to local Chinese fast food place in Mid City. It is conveniently located at the same plaza as Ralphs with ample parking. Service is very quick and easy, especially during the lunch rush. There is also adequate seating whether you're dining solo or with a small group. I am fond of their extensive menu on the hot bar, along with their short orders like shrimp fried rice and noodle soup with shrimp and veggies. Their fried rice has more emphasis on soy sauce, but it is still savory. I also grew to love their teriyaki chicken, tofu and vegetables, sauteed string beans and beef with broccoli. Little Beijing is a small Chinese spot located on Venice that has a nice little vibe to it and some pretty good food. The ladies were nice. They let me try a couple things before I made up my mind on what I wanted. So I got a plate it came with two main and a side. So I got the orange chicken, the jalapeño chicken and chow mein. I also tried the barbecue pork, but I didn't get it because it was a little dry and I wasn't a fan of the text of it. The best thing I got by far away was the jalapeño chicken. It was seasoned well cook well great texture. It had a really interesting sauce that I liked a lot and it was the best thing that I had would definitely try it again. Their orange chicken was very different than what I'm used to. There's more like a crispy or orange chicken. It wasn't super saucy, but it still had a good taste to it. It was inconsistent in texture, but it was definitely flavorful. I'm also just not used to my orange chicken being crispy, but it was definitely a good change. I feel like it had a bit more sauce to balance out the crispiness of it. It would've been better. And the chow mein was good nothing special just kinda like most chow mein you've had but I enjoyed it. Good noodle texture good consistency I mean overall it was. Just gotta give it to them. It's not easy competing with Panda nearby, but they do a damn good job of offering their own unique items made with quality and care. Definitely one of the best Express style Chinese joints I've been to and we're grateful they're in the neighborhood. Do I think they should charge $2 extra for the Chinese broccoli? No, but I'm glad they have it and it is pretty good (& actually flavorful for being "healthy"). The portion to value is pretty incredible. If you go earlier in the day, they always have piping hot goodies fresh out the kitchen. I can't stress the variety enough. Pork ribs, many chicken dishes, beef and potato (?!), shrimp and cabbage, plantains and egg foo young JUST to name a few. It's insane, and they're all pretty delicious from what we've tried. They even offer thinner rice noodles in addition to the common chow mein. What I really appreciate is that they add a lot of veggies to everything. Like their tofu eggplant, which is sadly not offered at most Panda's anymore, have zucchini and mushrooms, also. Yum! Their rice noodles also have slivers of cabbage & carrot. This little restaurant is a little hole in the wall competing with Jamba Juice, Subway and other restaurant chains in the plaza. There is an abundance of parking spaces. The food overall was different from other Chinese restaurants that I am used to. Typically the orange chicken I would get from other places were not as sweet as the one I had received at this restaurant, but it could've just been my palette. I did enjoy the broccoli beef as it had carrots along with the broccoli and beef pieces. The fried rice was extra crispy which again is favorable to some and not so much to others. I do not think that it was my cup of tea as I do enjoy fried rice that is less crispy than what I had received. The chow mein noodles were a little too oily for my liking but it is not a huge deal breaker. I will say portion wise I did get my $16 worth of food. The employees pack in the food until the container cannot close. It could easily feed 2 people. I ordered the Combo B which came with 2 side and 2 main dishes. On one note the employees are extremely friendly, helpful and enthusiastic when it comes to what they do. I have seen them interact with several other customers and are happy to see any and every customer that comes into their restaurant. It is as if you are talking to a friend. I always stop by here to pickup lunch after I run errands at the Midtown Crossing plaza. Discovered this takeout restaurant through Yelp and it didn't disappoint. Love their variety of dishes. This is the first Chinese fast food restaurant that I've seen that offers egg foo young as a side. Wish it came with gravy but they'll give you sauce from the egg plant and tofu, if you ask which is better than no sauce! Highly recommend the spare ribs, egg plant and tofu, and their mai fun (rice noodles). The veggie and chicken egg rolls are great here as well. Portions are generous. Everything you want in cheap fast Chinese food. The price is cheap, the quality is not. We always get half fried rice/ half RICE noodles (which I haven't seen anywhere else), Chinese Broccoli (haven't seen this either), eggplant tofu, string beans, and an egg foo young. Everything is SOLID! The veggie egg rolls are pretty good, too. Having recently become vegetarian with limited options in the area, they've quickly become a staple once every couple weeks. Although, their meat dishes do look a tier above other similar spots. However, my shittier experiences with this style of Chinese food are usually when getting the meat dishes. Definitely more of a risk in texture, taste, and overall health. We also really appreciate how they put peas, carrots, cabbage into the rice and noodles. Very generous of them considering the low price/ high value. Boom. A quick, affordable, decently healthy meal when you don't feel like cooking. Too much salt, but surprisingly tasty - Chinese broccoli and fried tofu were highlights, but their pork is fine too. From the outside, it doesn't look anything out of the ordinary from the typical, fast/casual neighborhood Chinese spots that I tend to avoid, since the focus is usually around the portion size, and not the food quality or flavor. However this spot keeps me coming back for one dish, their JALAPENO CHICKEN. Trust, this shit slaps for the price and keeps my Chinese food cravings at bay. FYI this is the only dish I recommend so far. If you're like me and always have rice on deck at home, you can get this as a side order (small $3.55 / medium $7.50 / large idk) and they stack that shit in there.
