    kimchi dumplings #delicious
    Bernice N.

I made a visit to G.I. with my girls, and some friends this weekend. Not only for our yearly trip that we do, but they had Pumpkin Point on the island that day. That is where they bring pumpkins and set them up like your in a pumpkin patch and you get to pick your very own, or two. Of course the kids got hungry, and we found that they no longer had a row of food trucks, more like food huts now. A lil disappointed, but happy to have found Lil Eva's. Now I knew that I was gonna pay a pretty penny because we didnt have time to pack a lunch like we normally do, and to my surprise I found that the prices were not outrageous. Chicken nachos- 5stars+ The chicken was so juicy, tasted like slow cooked BBQ chicken, with cheese and guac. mmm, mmm, mmm, only thing missing was the spice. I didnt miss it though, I mean they were that good. BBQ sandwich- 4stars Chicken taste the same as the nachos, just in a sandwich, missing all the cheese, and good stuff. Kimchi Dumplings-5stars They were hot, spicy, just delicious! Peach sangria- 3stars It was refreshing They have a seating area where you can sit down anywhere you like, and after you pay they give you a number and bring you your food to your table. If not, you go to the side of the shack and pick up your food from a lil side window. I hated the seating area due to a sworn of bees all over the place. How can you eat or drink when you are being attack by bees. I think they should find a way to have a net all around like a fence to keep them out. Anyway I would return again for those nachos and dumplings if they still are around next year.

    Shrimp bun with avocado

The food is overpriced and not very good, the line is always long and the top 40 they blast in the seating area is pretty terrible. The mac n cheese is actually OK, it's a classic mac with no goodies and standard cheddar, but it's melted nicely. It does need salt and pepper which they do provide in packets at the side of the shack. The shrimp bun is hilarious. It's literally a hot dog bun smeared with mashed avocado with three shrimp added in. It's pathetic. I never thought shrimp and avocado could be so disappointing but, there ya go. Service is weird. On a weekday the woman bringing out the food to the tables seemed weirdly intense and also mentally checked out. She looked at my table (alone, at a four seater) like it was puzzle, not sure where to place my tiny items, so I made a ridiculous amount of room for her so she couldn't possibly make a mistake and like, throw them across the island. I wish they would bring the food trucks back!

It's cute and it served its purpose. The adult Apple Cider - while pricey was absolutely delicious. I had the Mac n Cheese nothing to write home about. My friends had the bratwurst and couldn't stop raving about it - I missed out. It's a cute shop that moves fast and the aromas will definitely lure you in. Come prepared because I found them pricey.

Today we spent the afternoon on governors island. As we got to the area with the lunch tables etc we noticed a place called Little Eva's. Little Eva's was a really cool looking little spot with tables and umbrellas, so we decided to grab a quick bite there. We ordered Eva Dogs, with slaw. The ladies working at Little Eva's were super nice and really helpful. We noticed there were a few other things on the menu but there were 3 of us and we weren't looking for a MEAL. The hot dogs took about 20 minutes and were just plain old hot dogs with some shredded cabbage and carrots on top(slaw). We were certainly disappointed in the hot dogs, but I imagine we made an error in ordering something so easily found elsewhere. Overall; I wouldn't order the Eva's Dog again....but I'd give Little Eva's a shot again just based on the great customer service.

This is their idea of a hot dog??? Never again.

Currently at the hour mark waiting for my food. I don't care how good the food it is at this rate.

They're definitely open today. Not sure of hours but the island's open until til 6

Ordered shrimp bun with mango and guacamole, mahi taco over greens, and a mango frozen daiquiri. Pizza Yard has me setting my standards too high. Be forewarned-the mango used for the blended drink and bun is canned, and therefore the texture and taste were...questionable but was refreshing in the daiquiri nonetheless. There was NO alcohol whatsoever in my daiquiri which, for $13, is both a ripoff and a waste of money. The mahi taco was ok if a bit wet, and the shrimp bun was on a hotdog bun and not the Bao bun I was expecting; however, the fault is mine for assuming. The shrimp is pre cooked cocktail shrimp, and the guacamole lacking in both salt and lime. The salad was crunchy, with fresh greens, peppers, cucumber, a sprinkling of quinoa and a nice dressing. If here on a weekday, for drinks stick to the taco bar near the Manhattan ferry entrance if the line and time will allow. Otherwise not a bad eats option.

Lobster roll on a potato roll: surprisingly good!
    Jessica O.

I'd give Little Eva's 3 1/2 stars. My husband and I had the lobster roll sandwich ($15), the mahi taco ($15), and the watermelon salad. There wasn't enough mahi in the fish taco, but the lobster roll and watermelon salad were surprisingly good. The only "beer garden" on Governor's Island, Little Eva's is smaller than pictures reflect. On a Saturday afternoon it was packed so we could only find a bench (in their fenced in area) to eat our lunch at.

Our hotel is right across the street. It was day 4 and we were packing for our return flight. I decided to have dinner around our hotel and Dallas BBQ just showed up first thing on my search. Here is the deal. for less than $60 buck, we got 2 decent trays of BBQ. This is NYC time square prime location. I just paid $19 dollars for a simple regular chipotle bowl + a bottle soda. Somehow, Dallas BBQ can sell banging meals for decent price. I think that this is even cheaper than some SoCal BBQ places for the amount of food we receive. They didn't have any pork belly burnt ends ready so that was a bummer. The food came out fairly quick which was nice. Everything looked really good. The brisket was cooked perfect and nice fatty parts to it if you like that. There was some good smoke to it and nice seasoning to it. The ribs were a little overcooked and not much meat on them. The mac n cheese was really good, nice amount of cheese, noodles cooked perfect, and nice seasoning in it. The greens were also cooked perfect, not mushy, great flavor, and also seasoned right. The cornbread was off the hook, very tasty with great flavor. I like that they mixed corn in the cornbread. We also ordered the Banana Wafer Pudding which was delicious. NIce flavor and the wafers were fresh and crunchy, I just needed more of them. We tried to wait for Pork Belly burnt ends but we had to go. Since our program covered the expenses, we didn't pay anything out of pocket. Now I enjoy a good BBQ cookout at home as much as the next family, but don't care for it as a dining experience. My employer catered BBQ luncheons from time to time, and even then I wasn't crazy about it. Here in Hill Country, a room was reserved for us (party of 36). Our dinnerware resembled army mess tins lined with sanitary papers; our glasses resembled moonshine jars complete with screw threads at the rim for lids. Our dinner was a catered set of longhorn cheddar mac & cheese (quite good), sliced brisket (meh), market chicken (a little tough), fresh baked cornbread (dry & hard) and collard greens (good but could be saltier). I consumed massive amounts of mac & cheese and collared greens to help swallow down the almost rock-hard cornbread. Desert was chocolate chip cookies (that wasn't bad). Some members of the group ordered liquor (at their own expense) to celebrate the good time they were having. Customer service was less than stellar. The waitress did not inform us that soft drinks were complimentary until after we finished eating. That wasn't all. The restroom was located downstairs past the bar room. During my two visits - before and after the food was served - the same staff member was there cleaning. He had just finished the sinks when I went in the first time. On the second visit, the front door was blocked from the inside by a pail - he was mopping the floor. Couldn't he have waited till the off-peak hours to do that?? Customer service and cornbread were enough for me to not recommend this restaurant.

We ordered the value meal, which included several cuts of beef, chicken breast, a plate of pork, veggies, rice, salad, corn, and edamame. The salad was a bit salty but still a refreshing start -- and Annie even mixed and split it into two bowls for us, which I really appreciated. The meats took a little while to come out, but once they did, we got right to grilling. At first, only about five plates arrived, and I thought the chicken might have been missing. Turns out that was just the first half -- the rest came shortly after. For a set under $80, the amount of food was impressive, and everything was good quality and filling. Service was excellent from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with lighting that felt cozy but still bright enough to see what you're grilling. Overall, a great experience. The lunch special is a great deal at around $20 (after tip and tax) as I got to choose 2 meats and it also came with miso soup, a big bowl of white rice and a generous amount of salad. The flavor of the salad dressing tasted like chickfila sauce but with a slightly stronger vinegar taste. The salad was a good side dish to eat in between bites of grilled beef. I went with the umakara yaki beef and yakishabu beef. Each meat selection came with about 5-6 slices of meat. 2 meat choices were more than enough for me but for those who eat a lot, maybe going with the 3 meats, AYCE or combos might be better. There's just something different about eating freshly grilled beef. The marinades added a slight char and sweetness to the beef. I liked that they described what each sauce was in the menu book, it was helpful for me to figure out which to choose. There were also dipping sauces (shoyu, ponzu and spicy) on the table and I liked the shoyu one the most. The service was also great, the server came by a few times to ask how everything was and empty dishes were immediately cleared from the table.

My wife had the Classic Burger topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, house sauce served with fries for $19.95 and I had the Smash-ology Burger with double smash burger patties topped with American cheese, red onion, lettuce tomato, smash-ology sauce on a potato bun served with fries for $19.95. First, the burgers are very small, lack flavor and there is nothing special about them. I've had a better tasting burger from Steak & Shack for a fraction of the cost. The fries were very cold and looked like they were sitting on a holding table for an extended period. I sent the fries back only to be served with more cold fries. Service was also lacking. When I complained about the cold fries, the server didn't seem to be pleased and was very hesitant to take them back. At a cost of more than $45 for two burgers and fries, I expected more.
