Little Gus is a great place for breakfast or lunch. I go there quite a bit when I'm in Plano working or visiting family. There just aren't too many places in Plano that have good food, other than a few fancy, sit down places that are too pricey. It gets pretty packed in the mornings and on the weekends but the food always comes out fresh and fast. The owner, Gus, is always asking if I'm happy w the food. Their menu has lots of variety, is also simple to read but also detailed enough that you know what you're getting. The waitresses are always friendly (and cute too lol) and they are on the ball with drink refills. Can't think of anything bad to say about this place. It's one of only two places I can think of in the suburban pie-hole of Plano, TX that has good prices and consistently good food. I also like that they always have something to READ, like a DMN or other newspaper. Small detail, but it's an important one to me. read more

I really, really tried to fall in love with place, after all I'm a big supporter of small business. However, the family and I have been here twice and have found this place to be a large portions, tight seating greasy spoon. Yes, the liver and onions were pretty good, but if your not a liver and onions diner, maybe you should pass. Wow, thanks for all the veggie options! I was expecting to have to rig something to vegify it but there were plenty of options. I was disappointed to learn there was bacon in the potato soup because I really wanted to partake but I was perfectly happy with my pita option. For you breakfast lovers, they serve breakfast ALL DAY! It's a little understated place in a strip mall. I would have never tried it except it came recommended by a good food source. Little Gus is the best breakfast place in Plano. We have been going there consistently for 5 years and it's like family when you walk in. The food is great, the coffee is amazing and everybody looks like they are happy when they leave. I have tried everything in the place and right now I'm stuck on the California omelet. It's pretty awesome. All the waitstaff are very nice but very busy. Now, in regard to the negative reviews, I will say that every once in awhile I have had a small issue. This has become our weekly breakfast spot on the weekends. The food is exactly what you want: fluffy pancakes, perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, and golden potatoes. They have more than just breakfast available and I'm sure I'll be equally pleased with that once I overcome my addiction to their breakfast menu. If you walk in to a line or full cafe, don't stress! Went to Little Gus for a (semi) early Saturday breakfast and were very pleased with the food and the service. Our party had an the short stack w/bacon, 2 #1 orders with poached eggs and bacon. Everything was cooked perfectly - including, and most importantly, the poached eggs. It's amazing to me how many places that serve breakfast can't do a simple poached egg (I'm looking at you, Buzzbrews). Good coffee, friendly and prompt service, fair prices, and an owner who really seems to care about his guests are even more reasons to make this place a regular stop for us. Had breakfast here a few times, the food has been pretty good. For about 6 bucks you can get a filling, traditional breakfast, then kind that you could make yourself at home but are too lazy to. Decent price, good flavor, can't complain. Service has been just okay, nothing spectacular but they are nice enough. The biggest complaint I have is that the water tastes like it came straight out of a toilet, no joke. I'll have to remind myself to go with the coffee or something next time. read more

Not sure why I haven't reviewed this place yet, but here we go! This was one of the first breakfast spots I ventured upon when I first moved to Texas almost two years ago. The owner, Gus, is awesome and so nice! He makes his café the downhome, friendly, easygoing, family, neighborhood diner that it is. It's always busy in there and he and the staff seem to know a lot of the customers since they are probably regulars. They offer breakfast and lunch, although I've only had their breakfast - and it's yummy. Pancakes rock, and I could tell he puts nutmeg in them. A great surprise to the fluffy buttermilk pancakes. The ham is also wonderful and thick, and seems sliced off of the bone. French toast is good too although slightly too soft, but I think the pancakes are better. :) Prices are reasonable for the portion you get, but expect at least $10 for a basic breakfast + coffee. But, the quality is great as well as the portion size, the staff is friendly and sweet, owner really cares about his café, staff, and customers - and he's always out there helping out just like the rest of his staff. :) Very humble and down to earth. Parking is plenty, as it's in the shopping center next to Sprouts. read more

Came here for brunch. It was busy but they were very friendly and responsive. We were seated in about 10 minutes. I ordered the huevos rancheros and my fiancee order the green omelet. The food was amazing. It has a slight Mediterranean flavor which w loved. I highly recommend everyone try this place. read more

I love this place so much!!! And judging by how full they are on the weekends, so does everyone else. Even though they're always busy, I never seem to have to wait for a table. The staff does a great job of keeping everything moving. Now for the food. So far, everything I've tried has been delicious. The biscuits are fluffy and buttery, the bacon is crispy and plentiful, the eggs are perfect no matter how you order them, and the portions are always massive. I always bring home leftovers. The pancakes are also great, but too big for me. I did love that it had a subtle gingerbread taste, I appreciated getting something unique. Giving it a 4 star because we come here a lot an like the food and people but some things seemed to have changed and hope the owner sees this and takes it into consideration. The bacon is rubbery, I understand that you have to make it in batches and the just keep it warm through out the day but I have not ordered it in a long time because there is no reason to eat rubber bacon. The breakfast potatoes are still good but are more mushy then they use to be too. And the coffee taste really really bad. I don't like leaving negative reviews based on stars because I believe that you just need a chance to be better like you use too. I will still always come here! Don't worry! Shit happens . read more

We found this little Gem by accident. It has something for everyone. My husband had the bacon/tomato omelet with grits. I don't even like eggs but had to try it and was amazed how good it was. Only been there once and my first experience will not get me back there. Ordered egg Benedict and it was pretty good. didn't like the potatoes which came with it though. Another order of an expensive scrambled eggs ($10) which we didnt like. So overall the food was slight below average. Moreover, the server was a little rude. We asked for a substitution of pork with other meat and told that there are lot of orders and cant take requests for substitutions, but she allowed one. That too on a morning of a weekday. Also,I was charged a dollar for each extra plates. Who charges for extra plates? Really?? Not going back there again. read more

My husband and I really enjoy going to Little Gus. It has the feeling of a classic diner, simple and family operated, but always clean. The wait staff are very helpful, balancing friendliness and professionalism very well. We generally go for breakfast, but have ordered items off the lunch menu as well. The food is prepared and delivered quickly. Items are priced reasonably - although the menu ranges on the high side of the $1 range - most items are $9.99 or a couple dollars more. And for those who judge a breakfast place on their coffee, this one holds up. It's just coffee, but it's brewed properly and tastes good. We will go back to Little Gus frequently. read more

Me and my husband eat here at least once a week. We love the waitress there. She knows exactly what we want and how we want it. Prices are a little high and they charge for every little thing which asking for onion on your sandwich or ranch shouldn't cost another couple of dollars. I see those as condiments. The club sandwich is one of the best we've ever had. Their breakfast is great. Some of the items on the menu aren't that good though. The customer service is great. read more

Small little breakfast spot that doesn't do anything different, they just do it right. The staff is super helpful and always willing to help out with grabbing anything you may need. I love a restaurant where the owner gets their hands dirty, and Gus is usually there working just as hard as the others.
