Sorry but if you are going to cater an event as important as a wedding, it would be nice if you showed up on time, were organized, communicative and friendly. They were none of the above. I stood next to the wedding coordinator as she was calling to find out where they were and the owner YELLED at her! What kind of customer service is that?? No ma'am, if you agreed to cater a wedding then get your act together and do as promised. As we lined up to be fed once they finally got there, no one was given instructions as to what was being served and they wouldn't let you have fajitas because they had silently slopped the first option on your plate. The bride and groom hadn't ordered anything except fajitas so what is this other stuff? They hurried us through the line, didn't have enough food for the entire party and packed up early. Zero! Customer service. I do not recommend this place. My food was cold, the manager was disrespectful, was very rude. I talked to the manager she had the worst attitude, I was trying to be nice and calm and she refused to talk to me about the problems that were caused by her server. On my way out of this restaurant there was other people that just had ate there and complained about the same problem I am having I will not return to Little Mexico. Great find in South Tucson. Love that it's all about family: owned, recipes, and still run by family members. Friendly swift service and lots of locals here - perfect for us out-of-towers. The creamy dip with chips was a delightful surprise. The margaritas are made with sweet and sour mix (typically not our favorite), but these were tasty and they don't skimp in the tequila. The Little Mexico combo was a great way to sample several items - shredded beef taco and regrows beans were awesome. Also got a la cart Chile relent, red tamale, and sour cream chicken enchilada. Red tamale and sour cream chicken enchilada are both must-do-again. We look forward to coming back! read more

Came in for breakfast and ordered the $3.50 breakfast special (M-F only. Eggs, Hash-browns or Beans, Tortilla or Toast and Horchata or Cinnamon Iced Tea). It was really delicious and satisfying. WHen ever I am back home in Tucson I always make at least one trip to Little Mexico eventhough it is completely across town from my family it is always worththe trip. Tucson, without a doubt, has the best authentic Mexico food! Little Mexico is a great casual laid back family style Mexican restaurant. It is not a special ocassion restaurant more of a place to go for lunch or casual dinner. Prices are super! I have a friend who works nearby this place so we meet for the lunch specials. A whole lotta good food for NOT a whole lotta money. Living in Los Angeles I am not able to find the Tucson traditional "Cheese Crisp" anywhere there. So when I come to Tucson I must have one at least every couple days. Little Mexicos cheese crisp is as yummy as they come! They bring a nice selections of salsa & chips as well! This was honestly one of the most satisfying Mexican meals that I've had in a long time. First thing's first, while I'd argue that this place has plenty of atmosphere, it is most definitely not for individuals who are put off by meager decor. Then again, if you're in South Tucson for Mexican food, then design is probably low on your list of priorities. They have all the Mexican food standards here, but I went for the machaca burrito with the standard beans and rice sides. The burrito was enormous, but I managed finish everything on my plate because I simply could not stop eating it. Perhaps I'm just the archetypal fat American, but the food was seriously good. I'm not familiar with Mexican food preparation, so I'll have to speak in general terms, but the meat in the burrito was juicy, spicy, and packed with flavor, and the beans and rice were solid additions. The requisite chips and salsa here are quite delicious as well. Most plates are priced below $10, so you get quite a good value, too. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the market from some classic Mexican. read more

Their carne asada tacos are fabulous and I know my husband loves their chimichangas but we've had spotty service. There's one young man that works at the irvington location and is a very nice guy but some of the female servers are quite bitchy. They get snippy if you don't order the way they want you to and it's not a pleasant visit when having to deal with rude waitresses. The other location on Valencia, I haven't gone to as frequently as the one on Irvington but the servers there are much nicer and have more manners but I don't know if I've just gone on better nights. The theme is tacky and doesn't quite fit the mexican scene but they claim to be more of a BBQ location than a mexican restaurant and this simply isn't true, the menu has been the same at both locations. I do recommend the food just be careful what kind of servers you get! read more

Made the mistake of trying this place for lunch. I ordered shredded beef tacos with rice and beans. The refried beans were good, the rice not too bad, the beer was nice and cold, the tacos were abysmal. You know those pre made corn tortilla taco shells that are pre cooked, stacked, and wrapped in plastic that you buy in the grocery store. Well my tacos came in those shells. To add insult to injury the tacos had shredded iceberg lettuce and grated cheddar cheese. How very American, problem is I'm not looking for American. However they serve beer and presumably wine - since the license usually goes together. read more

This is a little gem! I come here for dinner when I travel. It never fails me. The service is fantastic and the food comes out piping hot! The white dipping sauce with the chips is amazing! Came here with a big group and got great service but the food was okay. I actually liked the free chips and salsa more than my meal. They had this dip that treated like sourcream and cheese i couldn't stop eating. My meal.. i tried a lunch combo (#9) and the soft tacos came out soggy so i couldn't pick them up without them ripping. I had to use a fork ... and my friend had the same problem. It was 2 tacos with rice and beans for around $10. Its not the best Mexican food but the service was friendly and the chips were good. Maybe the large group i came with contributed to the soggy food but.. it still made my meal go down a few stars. read more

Been in many times, and still haven't found something that I didn't like. Good classic savory Mexican food. Lucky for me it's close to work, so I can get in a more often. Staff is always very friendly, and if timed just before noon (11:30ish) you can always get a table with minimal wait. But the food is always worth the wait. We had Little Mexico catering for our event at UA College of Medicine. Everything was prepared on time, neatly packaged, and helped us load it into the car. The food was DELICIOUS!! Huge hit for our event. And the prices were great... We ordered everything a la carte. needless to say, we will be using them in the future for events or just for meal! I was "sold" with the name and thought for sure this would be authentic. The rice was dry, the enchilada sauce had no spice and tasted like it came from a can. My husband had the stacked enchiladas and they were like a puffy masa that was deep fried and absolutely no flavor. However, the beans were good. So. My husband and I decided to go to little Mexico to see what all the fuss is about. The service is terrible. The food tastes like microwave dinner trays. Its a shitty location in a drug infested side of town. Not only that my service was below par, I was on my way into the little cramped bathroom there when I witnessed a mouse scurry away along the wall in the southwest corner of the building. When i finally reached the bathroom, several german cockroaches quickly raced away in a frenzy. I wouldnt be surprised if its infested with bed bugs. We will never ever eat there ever again. Typically a really great place to visit and dine in. Last night around 8:41pm to be exact I called and asked how much longer they would take walk ins considering they closed at 9pm. The lady on the phone "Connie" said 5 more minutes. We were around the corner and arrived at 8:43pm. Upon arrival we got ugly stares and we're asked if we wanted to place a to go order. I explained I had just spoken to her on the phone and she said I could dine in if it was within 5 minutes. Connie then said it's up to the servers if they want to take you. It was obviously upsetting so we left. Once in the car while waiting to back out Connie made hand gestures to the servers who were obviously asking where we went. She threw her hand up over her head and pointed like saying she got us out of there. It was very insulting as I would've preferred a no over the phone rather than to be humiliated that way in person. Sad thing is I recommend this place to so many of my patients in the hospital and now highly regret it considering that treatment. Overall it was a terrible experience I could've done without by a simple no were closing soon in the phone. Sadly I will never visit this location again. This was one of our go to restaurants for breakfast for over 15 years, not anymore. Food was so so. Their customer service is horrible. Our server was rude and not nice. We received a quesadilla that was way too greasy, that my son couldn't eat it. I told the waitress and she was not very helpful. She stated for me to take care of it at the register. The girl at the register didn't let me explain, she quickly said "I know". She gives me a $2 discount. I stated No I am not paying for the meal at all. The food quality was severly lacking. We ordered the fajitas and were very disappointed--the meat was tough and tasted like it had been reheated--the tortillas were stiff. We ended up complaining, but the manager would only credit half of the meal. I had only eaten the beans and my mother had just eaten the rice. Came in with my family to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was two adults, two toddlers, and a baby. We had a decent service there was a long wait for us to receive our meals but that's OK. It's to be expected since we came at dinner on a Friday night. If you're a parent and you go to dinner with kiddos you most likely didn't eat your food because you were attending to your children. That was our situation it was pushing bedtime so we decided it was time for us to go we asked for two boxes and our check. I tipped the server because she was a great server and recommended us our dinner plates. However once I paid I forgot my food on the counter walked out and two minutes later when I come back to the cashier/ host and I'm told my food was trashed. She stated that she went to look for me which I believe is to be a lie because I literally turned back around once I exited the building. Cashed out at 7:10 PM came in back at 7:12 PM. I think what aggravated the situation was that she didn't apologize for the mistake. When I told her you need to give people a chance she was snarky and stated "I do" with an attitude. I asked for a manager and Carlos was by far even more rude. If he's the standard of their customer service no wonder his employees have none. If the host would've responded and been apologetic and stated "I'm so sorry let me get my manager to see what he can do. " I would've been fine and been like oh it's OK since I believe we all make mistakes and went on with my evening. However it's the attitude and the lack there of customer service is what made this a horrific experience. To the manager Carlos, remember you set the standard of customer service in that environment and your customer service should be chef kiss because your food is not that good. I'm still baffled at how you spoke to me. I'm not looking for you to refund me my meal or cook me another meal. A simple apology would have made the whole situation better. read more

My mom has lived by Little Mexico on Irvington since I was a child. It was my grandmother's favorite place to eat before she passed. Their customer service has been really awful lately every time my family and I go, but the food is always really good so I always ignore the poor customer service, but after today I will never go eat here ever again. My aunt and I barely sat down to order and they were so disrespectful when my aunt asked for another menu and rude. We didn't even stay. I wouldn't waste your time and money coming here. The service last time was distressingly snail-paced, especially since we had a young child with us who was becoming curious about the decor. My tamales were a dichotomy. Good food, bad bad service. Went for breakfast with the fam. Everything we ordered was overall good. Good chorizo, good tamales. They even did ok cooking the eggs over medium, which is sometimes hit n miss. Service needs work badly. The waitress forgot some pretty importany parts of our meal and when we asked about it there was no kind of apology or urgency. In fact she left our table after I told her and took orders at 2 other tables without getting the rest of our food. We sat there just looking at our food getting cold. She actually did this a few times. I finally had to get up myself and walk to the front kitchen window and get our stuff myself.... seriously. Once we got the rest of our food we were finally able to start eating. It's really sad because the food was actually really good but that service left an awful taste in our mouth. My chimichanga was good and so was the refried beans. Got it enchilada style and the red chili was spectacular! Comparable to New Mexican red chili in Santa Fe. However the rice was so so and the salsa not all that great. The texture was that of mealy tomatoes. Guadalajara grill has much better salsa. We ordered this for lunch so I did not get to see the restaurant. Seems like everyone loves the chimichanga so must be the best on the menu. I want to make this a 3 1/2 stars, but will settle on 3. It's good... it's not great. I've gone twice and the service is pretty good, not but they could do a bit more on refilling the tea (at one point they filled it with some kind of soda.. not tea). But they're all very pleasant and will provide you a tea to go, and it is tasty. As for the food, I enjoyed the taco salad, and the beans are outstanding, and shell good (Not as good as Rigo's, which I find always the best shell for a taco salad and so crisp). The chips are good, the salsa delicious, and beans and rice. It's on the cusp of being a 4 star for me... but some of the meat I had felt a little overcooked and stuck to my stomach. We really appreciated the great customer service. The food was delicious and we received many compliments from the guests.
