Not sure where to start. On an NYC tips Facebook page, someone asked where to get a good piece of pie near Times Square. After all the Juniors posts, someone mentioned that if you asked a local, they would say walk a couple blocks over to the Little Pie Company in Hells Kitchen. Of course, my phone was immediately popping up deals from Goldbelly and, out of curiosity, I ordered two things - the seasonal sampler pack, and the meal and dessert pack. I was mesmerized by the cherry but figured a bit more of an overall exposure would be better. (I'm in San Francisco, so this was coming via shipment.) I ordered on Saturday, it was shipped Monday, and arrived Tuesday. First I tried their famous Sour Cream Apple Walnut. I was harassed into sharing a bite with two co-workers, and they immediately logged in to place an order. The next day I heated up the pot pie - thrilling. We also shared the key lime, which was also very pleasing. I can't say enough about the taste and quality of this product. We had a show and dinner finished way earlier than we had expected so we had some time to kill. I wanted a sweet treat and Google led me to Little Pie Company. Between the two of us, we split a 5-inch key lime pie. We were unsure if we wanted whipped cream with it and they were super nice and put it on the side. Chicken pot pie was very yummy. I like how the bottom is nice and thin and doesn't get soggy like other chicken pot pies I've had. Cheesecake was smooth and good, but not the best cheesecake I've had. The traditional apple pie was yummy and not too sweet at all. A group of us were here a good while ago, around maybe ~25-30 minutes before they closed. For that reason, they of course had a smaller selection than usual, but were also half off a lot of the selections that were left. I'm not usually the hugest fan of Mississippi Mud, and someone else in the group took the last miniature apple, so I went with something else, the Gluten-Free Florida Key Lime Pie. The gluten-free pie was a bit more than the usual ones, and at half price, it cost around $7, or so, for a 5-inch version. Made with graham cracker and lime juice and topped with a bit of lime zest, the filling was quite delicious. It was sour, but not too much that it was unappetizing. In terms of the filling, this was the closest to Steve's, which is definitely saying something. The outside crust was surprisingly crumbly for being gluten-free. The texture was, of course, a bit off, but this was easily the closest to a regular pie. I also tried a bit of their apple pie, which was very tasty. I could see why this place is popular. I'd go back for their seasonal cherry pie, or something else. read more

My friends and I came here for a Tuesday afternoon treat. The four of us shared 3 different mini pies. We got the peach pie, coconut cream pie, and pecan pie. Each pie was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the peach. It's seasonal, so get it when they have it! The ladies working were the sweetest people. They were friendly and quick to answer our questions. When we lived on the west side, we walked by this place many times but never went in. We don't live there anymore but we went to a nearby theater recently and decided to give it a try. Yes, thumbs up, do try it if you're in the neighborhood. You can get either a full-size pie or a small pie. We shared a small pie, ample for 2 adults, though maybe either my husband or I on a hungry day could polish off a whole one, lol! Anyway we shared a mixed berry pie with a decaf Americano. You order from the counter inside, and they warmed it before they brought it out on their cute little patio where we decided to sit. That pie was SO good! Two young women were walking by and one said to the other, "That place is mad cute!" So I called out, "It's mad good, too!" and they cracked up. I met A when they were just a wee child, about 12-years-old. Their uncles were my friends, and although they're like 20 years younger than me, I have always considered them a friend as well. They celebrate their birthday this week so Jeremy and I decided to take them to NYC for an overnight trip. It was brutally cold the entire time we were in the city, so A took us to a pie shop they used to frequent when they lived in NYC. Apparently they came here to treat themselves after midterms and other victories over stress. The shop was empty almost the entire time we were there, which was okay with us because there are only two tiny tables and we took over the entire corner. The rest of the seating is a bar, facing out the front window, which is much too tall for a person in a wheelchair to use. Coffee and hot chocolate both got the thumbs up. This is a bigger achievement than you might realize because Jeremy is Hella picky about Coffee. The triple Berry pie is just the right amount of tart. Key lime is good too. The Mississippi mud pie was a bit of a struggle because it was so rich - terrible problem to have, right? But that's okay, we took the rest back to the hotel and ate it later that night. Founded in 1985, the Little Pie Company is definitely not little in taste. I purchased the 5 inch (the website says this size is for 1-2 people) sour cream apple walnut pie for $12. The mini pie was bundled up in plastic wrap; I brought it home and heated it in the oven. They recommend 10 minutes at 325 degrees but I tacked on a few extra minutes. There were Granny Smith apples galore, the pie was not too saccharine, and the crumble topping with walnuts was exceptional. Yum. What an ideal winter treat! While I was content with my selection of their signature pie, I was curious about the cheddar apple pie and the Key Lime pie and the pecan pie. Heck, all their pies it appears!  There was some seating if you want to eat your pie there. The Little Pie Company has a couple of large windows that offer glimpses into their kitchen from the sidewalk. Very cool. read more

I wish they had more pie varieties! Their signature pie is some sort of sour cream apple walnut pie, but my husband played it boring at got the old fashioned apple pie, that he said was just ok. I dis apple pie all the time, so I was not surprised. Anyhoo...my children have boring taste because they are children, and so I settled on the mississippi mud pie for them. It was too much for them, but my much older adult child thought it was good. It is just a glorified brownie. I have had enough bad experiences with picking up a whack Key lime pie, and I can whip my own with little effort, so I chose the pecan pie. It was delicious. They have so many different pie options all on display sometimes they have they have specials for the month. Which they had this time which was cherry pie so I had to get that. Have pretty standard ice cream, vanilla, chocolate, but they also know that they had a seasonal one. I had to ask what the seasonal one was which was toffee crunch so I had to take a scoop of that to have with my pie. I wanted it to go because I knew I wasn't gonna finish it but they warmed the pie up if you eat it there so I had them do that and then got a box to go. I finished an amazing dinner nearby before a show at the Westside Theater which is located right across the street from Little Pie Company. Before the show started, I wanted to get a slice of NY cheesecake and a cup of coffee (sometimes I fall asleep watching a long show, especially in the evening), so this pie store was perfect. Super cute little bakery with a nice selection of mini pies for grab and go. This place has been on my list for awhile so I'm glad I was finally able to stop by. It was so hard to choose just one but my all time favorite is a banana pie so of course that's what I got. This particular banana pie also has coconut which was extremely complimentary. I'm not a huge pie fan but I have always wanted to try this place. I finally did today. I purchased a 5" Triple-Berry Pie and my husband ordered the 5" Pecan Pie. My husband also got a cup of coffee. They were both a decent size and super yummy. The shop was very clean, decent amount of seating inside and outside, and a very helpful and friendly staff. I would recommend and try again. I specifically came in, hoping for a croissant. Disappointed when there was none but only briefly when they offered the giant, flaky apple turnover. Really adorable little pie shop that's a bit removed from the insanity of the theater district but close enough that it doesn't feel like a schlep. They have sweet and savory pies in slices, individual sized, or full sized. You can also get cakes, cookies, muffins, and breads. I loved the triple berry pie. The crust is nice and buttery and the filling not too sweet. They have some indoor seating, but when I was there it was totally full.
