My mother had been craving carrot cake and she loves Magnolia, so I ordered a slice through UberEats as a treat. When the order arrived, I honestly had to laugh because I couldn't believe how small the portion was--it looked like half of a slice. My mom didn't mind because she was just happy to have her cake, but I was genuinely disappointed. When you order from a bakery with Magnolia's reputation, you expect better consistency in what's delivered. Please do better, Magnolia.

Their pudding were very creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. It's definitely worth stopping by if you're craving something sweets while in the city. Great spot for a quick dessert treat.

Magnolia Bakery has become a must-stop whenever we're in town--thanks to my college daughter, who always insists on coming here. Banana pudding for her, banana pudding for her friend... and I'm perfectly happy just looking on! The Bloomingdale's location at 59th & 3rd is especially lovely. I adore the vibe--bright, cheerful, and bustling--and it's usually right near where we stay, which makes it an easy (and dangerous!) treat. Everything feels indulgent and fun without being over the top. This visit was extra special because the window displays were so festive. I found myself lingering just to admire them before heading inside. Always a treat, always a tradition, and always worth the stop. Just wondering when she will want to place a delivery order out of state! LOL

I seriously forget just how good the banana pudding is! I still love this treat, but I def think it has gotten much sweeter and less banana pieces. It is a very filling bite, one container is more than sufficient to share with hubby for 2 days.

Yummy banana pudding! The bananas were fresh and the added cookie/bread crunch was delicious. I was honestly surprised at how much I would like the banana pudding. I personally did not think it was too sweet, but I can see others finding the treat a tad bit too sweet. The service was quick! I just got one pudding to try so they immediately handed me the treat after I ordered. Not much room to sit, but there should be seating outside!

I live right by the Bloomingdale's, and this bakery/cafe is tucked away beneath it. I finally tried their famous banana pudding (which I'm generally a big fan of). It was a bit too sweet for me, and I wish there were chunkier bits of banana and wafers. It was a pretty smooth pudding without a lot of textures. My search for the best banana pudding in NYC continues!

Pretty quick service and nice staff. The cheesecake was really good and so sweet. Had to take things slow with this haha. The mocha was really good too. It's inside a Bloomingdale's and not too busy for the store itself. I feel like it would be better as a stand alone esp if you're not looking to shop. But if you're looking for both ? This is your spot ! Not too loud either.

My favorite banana pudding I've had! It was so creamy and the banana tasted amazing. Small was the perfect size to get for me. I also tried the Matcha Banana Pudding, but the matcha flavor wasn't that strong - I'd stick with the classic banana pudding.

Small Cookies & Cream Banana Pudding (~$6)

Ordered: Small Cookies & Cream Banana Pudding (~$6): bananas, vanilla wafers and Oreos are mixed into vanilla pudding Aya's take: The Banana Pudding at Magnolia Bakery is a classic and consistent option. You know it's always available but you might not always go out of your way for it. This time I had to. Cookies & Cream was the featured flavor for May 2024 and I knew I had to get it before it was gone. I love Cookies & Cream and bananas so this was perfect for me. It was rich, smooth, sweet, creamy, and nicely balanced between banana and Oreo flavor. I mean you can't go wrong, it's super satisfying. Glad I got to try it!

FOOD: It's a bakery inside of Bloomingdale's (and other spots), and they served baked goods lol. SERVICE: Fast. Effective. You point to the cupcake you want, and the lady puts it in a box. Then you pay her, open the box, and eat the cupcake. AMBIANCE: As stated above, this location (there are several), is inside Bloomingdale's. It's small, there's is no seating (it's a to-go only kinda place), and it was oddly dark. I think perhaps some lights went out. Who knows. The rod was good and that's all that matters.

Small location within Bloomingdale's. There was a few people in line but being that this is a touristy location, it can get busy. Service was okay. They messed up a couple customer's order behind me. However, my order was correct. I ordered 4 delicious cupcakes and an Arnold Palmer. My drink was refreshing and enough to hold me off until my next food adventure. Good selection but not everything was available because most items were sold out. It's best to visit earlier in the day. Recommended if you're in the area.

    Pricey.

Good but not great. Pricey mini treats. Banana pudding is yummy But not worth $5 for a a small fistful. Coffees was ok. Best thing was the coconut chocolate magic bar. Yummy!

There was a bit of a line, but it moved pretty quickly. I am boring, so I just ordered the plain vanilla cupcake, but it was just perfect. It was fresh and the cake itself was wonderful. We had a big party--everyone was happy, but particularly happy with the cookie dough and red velvet. Definitely worth a visit.

So there is a lot to unpack from my visit to SoHo to pick up a cake from my sister. I woke up at…read more5pm and headed straight here from Queens and chose this place over 4 others close by in the area. I hadn't been here in years so when I pulled up I took a step back to take it all in, the cutesy interior which was clean and not too brightly lit. I checked out the cake prices and flavors and when I was sure of what I wanted I stepped up to the counter and began to take pictures bc there were like 4 attendants and I waited for one to engage with me. A young man did he said are you ready to order I said yes and told him I wanted a strawberry shortcake slice $10 and a Brooklyn black out slice (also $10 and the actual reason I came). When he was boxing I took pictures and thought oh maybe I should switch to the hostess slice (out loud). Another attendant said sure, but then the first one pulled up with the boxes and I was like ok I'll just get a cupcake separate. Why I walk back to the cupcakes to choose and the young man starts helping someone new and I look him in the eye he then rushes over but again starts taking another customer. They were 3 customers in the store in total including me so why he didn't want to provide me service I do not know. But it made me so upset I was like wow am I really gonna spend this much money and this guy is being rude. I had to now get in line behind the 2 other patrons that came in after me. The attendant who rung me up tried to empathize and offered me a free $1 candle- it came from a cup of candle in front of the register and when he placed it on top of the box it rolled onto the counter and I said how many ppl touched that?? It's going in a cake someone is going to eat. I declined the candle, paid and probably will never return. Strawberry shortcake slice was a 6/10 tasted old Hostess cupcake 10/10 I inhaled it no crumbs Brooklyn blackout cake 15/10 moist, thick chocolate perfect. Now I'll tell you right now the birthday cake I got my sister was worth the $25 and change I paid for it. She liked it, I liked it, it made her happy- but the service made me frown I really didn't like it. Total rating 3.5

Okay I was cracking up about my experience here because I literally asked the dumbest question to…read morethe guy working but he was so nice and explained the answer to me until I understood! So fun fact they are now advertising Banana Pudding Hot Chocolate and it is NOT actual hot chocolate but banana pudding made to taste like hot chocolate. Why I got so confused? I don't know! Maybe I have been watching too many videos about Tyra Banks Hot Ice Cream. Either way I appreciate the guys patience and kindness when explaining it to me twice especially because I did not end up ordering that at all (though it sounds interesting) but I did get the regular actual hot chocolate and it was amazing! It tasted like melted marshmallows were in it! Perfect for a cold winter day. In addition we got to the humming bird cake, a cupcake, and the regular banana pudding. My husband had never been here before so you know we had to get the banana pudding, it's their claim to fame. And it is decent. Growing up in North Carolina banana pudding is taken very seriously and is literally at every gathering. Would this be a contender for the cookout? Sure! I have no complaints about. The other baked items were delicious as well. The store is cute unfortunately this location has no indoor seating but plenty of outdoor. It was like negative degrees when we went so we definitely did not sit outside. All and all it's a cute bakery/ sweets shop. There are many locations through out the city. I've been to others and it is consistent. It's definitely not a bad dessert spot to try.

Another employee, Kirk--an older gentleman who looked completely out of place--approached and coughed directly over the slice of cake that had just been cut for me. Yes. Over it. At that moment, I honestly wondered if it was intentional. A young woman nearby immediately caught my reaction and went to the back to replace the slice. She handled the situation professionally and deserves recognition. Unfortunately, the chaos continued. Kirk later made me a hot cocoa, and when I went to drink it, it spilled on me because the lid wasn't secured properly. At that point, I stopped believing in coincidences. And the cake? The German chocolate cake was terrible--dry AF and nothing like the Grand Central location. Not even remotely close. Between the coughing, the spill, and the subpar cake, this visit was uncomfortable, messy, and disappointing. Magnolia should seriously reconsider who they put on the floor and retrain accordingly--because this location is not living up to the brand. But honestly, I believe the 2 guys had to be the owners. I love a good watch but rolex's while serving Desserts is WILD

While I'm not the biggest cupcake fan, they have a nice selection of cakes, bars, and other things for pretty reasonable prices, especially in Midtown. The staff are also friendly. The most recent time, I got a Ube Buttercake Bar for $4.25, or something very similar. As per the name, it is made with ube, or purple yam, and it has a slight purplish hue. It was just a bit rich, had a soft texture inside, and had a very mild ube flavor with a bit of vanilla. The dessert was decent, but not strong enough of a ube flavor for me to buy it again. Much better was the Brookie I got the first time for $4.50 or so, listed as a blend of their Ooey Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar and Fudge Brownie. I was happy that the chocolate chip part was dark chocolate, and it wasn't overly sweet. Otherwise, it had a nice mix of textures, with some soft and crunchier parts. I liked it a lot more. The prices here are decent enough, and the quality isn't that bad. It's not a place I would go out of my way to go to, but it's nice to be nearby if I want to pick up a snack or something similar. I would probably try a slice of cake, or another bar such as their lemon or dream, next time.

A recent order had clear issues that should never have happened, and the way it was handled afterward made it worse. It's really sad to see a business operate this way. After many years as a customer, I'll now have to take my business elsewhere.
