This particular one is located in Penn Station. I/we love the cupcakes and the way they are decorated with different-colored frosting and various cake choices. We tried a few different kinds between us and we all enjoyed.

This place is cute. I love that it's right in Penn Station. I've had a few of their pastries. Honestly a couple were not memorable. But I am huge fan of the banana pudding which they said was their most popular. I did come late right before close one time and away cappuccino muffins which who doesn't love free stuff? But it lacked much flavor and was just alright. I'd come back for the banana pudding but I'd be a little unenthusiastic to try anything else again.

Couldn't leave New York without making a stop at Magnolia Bakery! The banana pudding absolutely lived up to the hype--creamy, fresh, and worth every bite. I'm also a huge fan of the yellow cake with chocolate frosting, which is always a must-have for me. Grabbed a few goodies to enjoy later and everything was delicious. A classic NYC treat that's always worth the visit!

I have been wanting to try magnolia for so long and finally got the opportunity when I was delayed at the train station. The banana pudding was so good! The vanilla wafers were still hard and crunchy on the inside. It is really sweet, so a small is all you need. They have a lot of other goodies for sale so try to decide what you want before you get there. Line moves quick.

Quick fast service before and after travel. I have to have the banana pudding one for now and one for the road!

I came for the famous banana pudding and was not that impressed... it tasted like something I could make for myself for about one tenth of the price using some instant pudding mix. The bananas didn't taste fresh. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't come back for more. On the bright side, service was friendly and ambiance was very charming.

The banana pudding was everything you could imagine and more. I am a cookie girl. I want to see the cookies and taste them. I do like bananas but do not need many! I purchased 2 mini sizes and the specialty pudding which was apple crumble. I normally do not care for apples BUT.... This was incredible. The apples were not caramelized and over cooked but rather crisp and cold while still cooked. It gave the texted of biting into a pear. I loved it so much I stopped to purchase another for my trip back home. The store was cute and their system efficient. You are in and out. No seating inside but there is a place to mix your coffee.

Yall... the banana pudding here IS worth the hype. One of the best I've ever had! My only complaint is that the medium is a bit small, especially for the price of it. Oh well, next time I'll just have to get a large!

Picked up a sweet treat at Magnolia Bakery in the train station while waiting for a friend to arrive. Everything looked amazing, but I decided to try the pumpkin cheesecake ($8.25) and it didn't disappoint! The crust was made with gingersnaps, which gave it the perfect mix of spice and sweetness. I'm not usually a fan of whipped cream, but whatever they use here was incredible light, creamy, and so good. Such a delicious fall treat!

My hubby and stopped by Magnolia bakery on our last day in NYC! We ordered the blueberry bar and Carmel cake! The blueberry bar was my favorite!!! It had a cookie like crust at the bottom that I enjoyed. My husband loved the caramel cake as well. The location at the train station is very busy! There was line when we arrived. The employees worked quickly to take our orders and get our orders to us as quickly as possible! The location is small, but lovely! I enjoyed my visit..

[November 2024] Our day trip from Union Station (DC) to Moynihan Train Station Washington enjoyable one, mainly because of Magnolia Bakery. (My first time trying their desserts was via mail order, so it was nice to place my order in person and enjoy it real-time. What I got: CLASSIC BANANA PUDDING - delish! APPLE CRISP BANANA PUDDING - even more delish! LEMONADE - sweet and refreshing! Trying my best NOT to book a train ticket JUST to grab some goodies from Magnolia Bakery. Who am I kidding? This IS happening soon (and regularly, because...why not!?) __ I eat. @f.hux I thrift. @DCthriftish

Always pick up some banana pudding when in nyc. This place was great because of its location inside the station and there were no lines.

Did not have a good experience with the lady at the banana pudding bar, as she was a bit rude. Otherwise, no issues. A bit of a line, but expected. Price is a little bit high but reasonable for the brand.

So fun fact they are now advertising Banana Pudding Hot Chocolate and it is NOT actual hot chocolate but banana pudding made to taste like hot chocolate. Why I got so confused? I don't know! Maybe I have been watching too many videos about Tyra Banks Hot Ice Cream. Either way I appreciate the guys patience and kindness when explaining it to me twice especially because I did not end up ordering that at all (though it sounds interesting) but I did get the regular actual hot chocolate and it was amazing! It tasted like melted marshmallows were in it! Perfect for a cold winter day. In addition we got to the humming bird cake, a cupcake, and the regular banana pudding. My husband had never been here before so you know we had to get the banana pudding, it's their claim to fame. And it is decent. Growing up in North Carolina banana pudding is taken very seriously and is literally at every gathering. Would this be a contender for the cookout? Sure! I have no complaints about. The other baked items were delicious as well. The store is cute unfortunately this location has no indoor seating but plenty of outdoor. It was like negative degrees when we went so we definitely did not sit outside. All and all it's a cute bakery/ sweets shop. There are many locations through out the city. I've been to others and it is consistent. It's definitely not a bad dessert spot to try.

While the presentation was 10/10 across the board, the flavors ranged from "nostalgic perfection" to "a bit of a letdown." Devil Dog (The Winner): This was by far my favorite. It was a trip down memory lane, perfectly capturing that nostalgic Hostess chocolate cupcake flavor I loved as a kid. Lemon Raspberry Meringue: Coming in a close second, this cupcake was bright, fruity, and incredibly fresh. It felt light and offered a great balance to the richer flavors in the box. Ube: This cupcake was stunning to look at. However, the flavor didn't quite live up to the exotic profile of a purple yam; it tasted like a traditional vanilla cupcake that just happened to be purple. Great for the aesthetic, but standard in taste. Hummingbird: This was the only real disappointment. I was expecting the signature tropical punch of pineapple, but it lacked that acidity. Instead, it felt more like a simple banana nut muffin with icing on top. Final Verdict: Overall, the experience was positive. The shop clearly has a talent for decor and nostalgia. I'd definitely return for the Devil Dog and the Lemon Raspberry, but I might skip the Hummingbird next time. Last Note: The woman working in the bakery was a bit rude and had an attitude and that alone will make me not com back no matter how good the cupcakes are.

Unfortunately, the customer service was disappointing. The employee behind the counter did not greet us or offer any assistance while my friend and I looked at the display. The store was not busy, and both of us noticed the unfriendly attitude. The slice was also $7 and smaller than the portions I have received there before. While I'm not the biggest cupcake fan, they have a nice selection of cakes, bars, and other things for pretty reasonable prices, especially in Midtown. The staff are also friendly. The most recent time, I got a Ube Buttercake Bar for $4.25, or something very similar. As per the name, it is made with ube, or purple yam, and it has a slight purplish hue. It was just a bit rich, had a soft texture inside, and had a very mild ube flavor with a bit of vanilla. The dessert was decent, but not strong enough of a ube flavor for me to buy it again. Much better was the Brookie I got the first time for $4.50 or so, listed as a blend of their Ooey Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar and Fudge Brownie. I was happy that the chocolate chip part was dark chocolate, and it wasn't overly sweet. Otherwise, it had a nice mix of textures, with some soft and crunchier parts. I liked it a lot more. The prices here are decent enough, and the quality isn't that bad. It's not a place I would go out of my way to go to, but it's nice to be nearby if I want to pick up a snack or something similar. I would probably try a slice of cake, or another bar such as their lemon or dream, next time.
