It's pretty rare to find an upscale Vietnamese restaurant on the westside. but they're slowly starting to pop up. Taking over for the Superba location, you can't miss this restaurant as you're walking into the Point. This spot is pretty pricey for what it's worth and I'm not so sure it's worth the price. For starters, we got the nem nuong spring rolls. For $13, you only get 2 rolls in total even though it's cut in half to make it seem like you're getting more. When I think of nem nuong spring rolls, I think of Brodard's and this place is no where near that level. It was pretty average here. For our mains, we got two noodle dishes: the saigon lemongrass beef and bun tom thit nuong cha gio. I thought both dishes were pretty light and refreshing with the rice noodles, veggies and fish sauce. The beef was tender and the pork was charbroiled well. Just make sure you mix both dishes well before you start eating! Little Sister gives you a unique twist on upscale Vietnamese dining but I'm not sure it's worth the price. read more

Honestly im so disappointed. I love little sister and I've been to the restaurant (different location) numerous times. The food didn't taste like it normally does and the sauce that is supposed to come with the dish came out WAY later than the actual dish. The food also took forever to come out, I've never had to wait this long for my food. The server barely came to check on us and we had to call another server to help us get what we needed (like the check, the missing sauces, and boxes). The only thing is the ambiance is really cute, both inside and out. I wouldn't come to this location again. read more

The food here is good, not great. For the prices I would hope for it to be a little better. Nothing I've had has made me say "wow" by any means. It's not bad, just not what I'd hope for given the prices and especially hype. If you go to Saigon dish or pho hue oi and order the same dishes they will be as good (or better) for less than half the price. The service can be hit or miss, we have had great servers and not so great servers in terms of attentiveness. The best part of the restaurant is the atmosphere/aesthetic. It's a very nice spot with an open air feel. Biggest issue, the last time we came here we had a party of 6 and the first person's dish came out ~20 minutes before everyone else's. Again, for the prices and atmosphere they are going for I'd expect the pacing to be decent. At least better than "first person's dinner comes out so early they are done eating before everyone else's comes out" pacing. read more

As a person who is asian, I am super picky when it comes to up-scaled asian restaurants. This place is one of those places that I continue to think of when I finish a meal. Each food they served to us was insanely and brilliantly presented. Every bite i took made me want more and tried to savor every bite of flavor so I do not finish it too quickly. My partner and I decided to spend a little extra on this day since it was our anniversary. The shrimp and the sauce it came with was savory yet sweet. The Bone Marrow Escargot was spectacular. The escargot itself was so soft and butter and it had the asian flavors I am used to. It was perfectly made. The servers were very nice and always checked up on us. I don't think so. Everything we tried though had well thought out flavors and was executed well. Pho Bo (3): The broth is good. The rare steak was pretty good quality but some pieces had a ton of fat on it. The rest was standard pho fare. As with any good bowl of Pho, it starts with the broth and theirs was tasty. Spring Rolls (4): Tasty. Fresh. Some good crisp. Great presentation. Their peanut sauce was amazing. Beef Tartare (3): The beef was good quality but I didn't feel the entire dish was worth the price. We had reservations and were comfortable with a table of 6 in a booth since the booths were pretty large. Love the modern war decor. Food and atmosphere was nice. Looks like Little sister restaurant has closed two locations in dtla and Manhattan Beach. This new one is at The Point El Segundo, place is small but very open and bright. We decided to sit at the cozy bar and lounge area. Menu is pretty much the same Asian fusion Vietnamese food. I tried a lavender lychee martini which was tasty but a bit sweet. The smoky Mezcal cocktail was really good and very strong. Hubby's Grey Goose martini was a great pour too. For lunch food we had salmon crudo, pork fried rice and papaya salad with grilled shrimps. Little sister food is usually very flavorful with a lot of spices and sauces. Just the way I like my Asian fusion food. The portions are on the smaller side but prices are not bad. Our bartender was very friendly and attentive the entire time. It was strange that they didn't have fountain soda or espresso drinks. Overall we really liked our light lunch and drinks. Our server came by right away however, the man seated next to us had to go to the hosts' counter to receive service because he had been sitting for approximately 15 minutes without any one coming over to him. Came here for Friday lunch around 11:30 am. Got busy quick!! At 12-12:30 there was a good crowd. Had a really great experience, the food was awesome. Thank you to our server who suggested the seabass which I must say is a huge portion!!! I don't eat much meat except fish so our server mentioned it's on the dinner menu but they can prepare it for lunch. How sweet! We started off with spring rolls- had shrimp crab and pork belly. I just took off the pork- very tasty! Love the peanut sauce. Seabass was crispy on both sides very delicate and flaky. Lots of flavor. Made it into a lettuce wrap. Don't know why it took us so long to try this place but it did. Went for happy hour and have to admit, along with Dash Dashi in Manhattan Beach, it's one of the better happy hours. Excellent food options and cocktails/wine/beer options at discounted prices. Note that the happy hour plate sizes are a bit smaller than those on the regular menu and that while the happy hour menu days they have escargot, it's actually no longer available. Service was good. We went at 4:30 so it was the bartender who served us but she was attentive. We tried four different food items from the happy hour menu and all were delicious. The restaurant is small so I recommend you get a reservation through Opentable, and if it's chilly, bring a jacket even if you plan to sit inside because they open the entire wall up and it's just like sitting outside. Our biggest, and only complaint, is that while one side of the table gets to sit on a cushy bench, the chairs on the other side are probably the most uncomfortable chairs they could have found. I kid you not-- they are old wooden chairs from the desks of a country schoolhouse from the 1940s. If you didn't have back problems before going, you might afterwards. That aside, we will definitely go back and try other items on the menu (perhaps even all of them). read more

**Review: 3.5 stars Went here awhile back with a girlfriend for a much needed hang out (safely). I would definitely recommend making a reservation especially during the weekend. Even with reservations - the line was long. The ambiance is good - they replaced the old Superba location within the Point. Our server was very helpful and friendly (forgot her name). I ended up getting the "pho bo" - fancy pho for a fancy locale lol. The pho itself was good, broth was tasty but wished there were more main ingredients. My GF had the Saigon lemongrass beef and she enjoyed it as well. I have eaten a lot of Vietnamese food especially after moving to California a little over 4 years ago, but this was easily one of the best restaurants ever. Plus, this place is beautifully decorated with a killer ambiance and is definitely worth spending a little more money for your dining experience. My coworker and I shared the Lemongrass Chicken Sandwich which was freaking awesome!! Our Shaky Shaky Beef dish was also delicious and to die for. Here is the best part....Little Sister also has a location in Irvine, so I hope to visit more often. She presented the vibe that she merely was helping us because we were seated there. 25-30 mins after ordering I had to get up to ask where our order was. As for the food: Vietnamese coffee was really sweet and could have been stronger. But for $5.50 it will do. Chicken wings: they were ok. Not worth the $27.00. Super classy Vietnamese place with a variety of options and a nice ambiance. We came here for a quick bite and ended up getting the Pho Banh Cuon ($16), which are rice paper rolls filled with beef & tendon, herbs, lettuce, and pickled onion. I loved the flavors and spiciness of the sauce, but the rolls were unwieldy and came apart very easily. I wish it had been more manageable to eat, but I still enjoyed it. Overall, good flavors but pretty pricey food. I'd be interested in coming back here to try more! read more

This is the one in El Segundo. Enjoyed late lunch with my son, daughter and their friends. We visited them for a few days in LA since it was my son's birthday. We're waiting for our 3 hr wait reservation at Top Golf for 5 pm so we tried to look for nearest spot we can eat. We got there a little past 2 and didn't get seated not until past 3. There's some vacant tables but we wanted to be seated in one group so we waited a little bit. The kids went to the mall while waiting but me and my husband just sit at tgeir bar for a couple of drinks. Once we were seated, took awhile before they start taking our orders. It took longer when we started ordering from the lunch menu when we were told it is not served after 3 pm. We missed the cutoff. Everyone had to look again and check for a different menu and just a heads up, the list on the menu is mostly family style serving , that's what they told us. So some people just ordered what they want to eat on their own and some people shared. Everybody's paying for their own meal. More than half hour passed by and food still not ready. It was after 4 already and we need to live by 5 for our reservation at Topgolf(5mins away) . The servers are lacking smiles on their face. They look like tired and exhausted. This was on a Sunday and they don't look happy at all. Service needs to improve. The lady who must be the manager was not friendly, and looking unwelcoming. She was the one who took our orders too. There's another girl who is just busing tables and pouring waters on all the glasses looks spacey. Maybe she has something going on, I don't know lol. We ordered a lot obviously since we're a big group. Place looks cute and they also have outdoor dining. Lots of space. However the inside just looks cramped. There were 14 of us so we had to wait for about an hour before we got seated. They actually have good food but pretty expensive. I don't think it was worth it though. I wanted to give 4 stars but they need to revamp their hospitality strategy. I don't mind paying more for a good, warm or welcoming service. Came here because a friend from Virginia was staying by LAX and was craving asian food. I've been to their redondo beach location and their manhattan beach location when it was still around. Both had delicious food and wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, the Point location was disappointing. It wasn't too busy when we came in. Our waiter started out strong, even cracking a joke after he asked if we've been to other locations. He asked, "What does this location have that the others don't?" Which he then answered, "Me." OK, nice little ice breaker and intro. Though he was polite, everything from there fizzled out. We ordered dumplings and garlic noodles for the kids to start and the grilled pork chop, shaky shaky beef, and chicken lemon grass bahn mi for our entrees. Dumplings were delicious and the garlic noodles were just that, garlic noodles. Everyone eventually got their order, except for me. After 20 minutes with our waiter walking by us with no shaky shaky beef in tow, I finally asked him what was going on with my order. Only to realize, he forgot to put the order in. We canceled the it and shared the grilled pork chop. I was really disappointed because I was looking forward to the shaky beef. Oh well, it happens. The grilled pork was huge and good, but I've had regular sized grilled pork chops from other vietnamese restaurants that were better. My friend did enjoy her banh mi. After that, we kept trying to see where are waiter was to ask for a to go box and grab our check. Didn't see him for a while, and had to wave to the group of servers or hosts gathered at the front to ask for a box and to get our check. Eventually, we got our receipt, paid, and left. Wasn't thrilled at all with this location compared to ones I've been to. I was very nervous about trying this restaurant. Being a lover of asian food, I feared that trying an upscale version could take away the appeal of something more home cooked. However, from the appetizers, this place surprisingly did not disappoint. The two best dishes out of the three that we got were the prawns and the bone marrow escargot. Both had such unique and bold flavors that had made us want nothing but that. The escargot was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth and the prawns just had such a good unique refreshing flavors to them that they were hard to stop eating. One thing I wish was different was that some of the pork rinds were so hard that I thought I was going to crack a tooth, but their flavor as well as really good. I've been to the location in Downtown LA, and based on my experience here, I'm happy to report that it's more or less the same. I'm happy to have been able to try more of their menu, outside of what I usually order. It is a bit pricey for what it is, but I'd argue that you do get what you pay for in terms of quality of food and taste. crispy prawns - Crispy and appetizing. imperial rolls - Tasty and what I had expected. Nothing more, nothing less. I kind of wish the portion was a bit bigger; there were only two rolls, cut in half. ga xao xa ot - Good lemongrass flavor on the wings. A solid dish that's great to share. shaky shaky beef - Average, but when you're shoveling tender and delicious beef into your mouth, there aren't any real complaints. suon nuong - I usually order this here, and while the pork was consistent (well marinated and tender), the rice was missing that unctuousness from the chicken fat. house triple garlic noodle - The dish had good flavor, but for a garlic noodle it was surprisingly lacking in the garlic flavor. read more

A Vietnamese-fusion restaurant right at The Point in El Segundo/Manhattan Beach - I dined at Little Sister this past Tuesday with two friends and we split a bunch of different dishes and I was quite satisfied from start to finish. For appetizers we ordered the pork, shrimp, and crab dumplings (spicy black vinaigrette dressing, chives, spinach, peanuts), autumn roll (sweet potato, jicama, egg, viet herbs, chinese sausage, sweet shrimp, coconut peanut sauce) and the 'nem nuong' (grilled pork spring roll, red leaf lettuce, mint, carrot, cucumber, house sauce). I really liked the autumn rolls with the coconut peanut sauce as well as the dumplings. I think three appetizers would have sufficed for most people but we also ordered two noodle dishes to share for our main course. I was most interested in the house triple garlic noodles (chicken butter, toasted sesame & scallion) and my friends also ordered the 'bun tom thit nuong cha gio' (charbroiled pork & shrimp over vermicelli, condiments). The noodle dishes are really quite large and we ended up taking leftovers home. It was pretty quiet at 5:30pm on a Tuesday but I personally prefer that. The service was good - our waitress explained the menu and answered all of our questions with a smile. Came here for dinner last night with a friend for their Dine LA menu.($55/person) Ambiance - pretty casual but feels elevated. Nice for a date night. Service - great!! All the waiters were so cool and helpful. We both ordered the Golden State cocktail from their standard menu which was delicious! Lychee + rose are my favorite flavor profiles in alcoholic drinks and both flavors were definitely present. The grapefruit flavoring also added a refreshing touch. For food we started off with the papaya salad. Really fresh and loved all the herbs in it. Usually expect a stronger flavor from a papaya salad as the vinaigrette (chili lime) was pretty light, but good nonetheless. Next appetizer was the escargot poppers (also from standard menu). Wow!! I love escargot but I've never had it like this. The outside was perfectly flaky & buttery, inside was the escargot (kind of had some flavors reminiscent to mushroom). Loved the pungent flavors of the sauce. Really glad I got to try something different. Entrees: I ordered the shaky shaky beef, their take on bo luc lac which is one of my fav Vietnamese dishes. Beef was cooked nicely but I felt that it was lacking that buttery sweet umami factor it usually has. Came with a peppery lime dipping sauce which added a nice acidity. I do think a nuoc mam would've paired better for some sweetness. The real star of the dish was the tomato rice - so flavorful! My friend ordered the braised salmon, their take on ca kho to. I tried a bit of it, salmon was cooked beautifully, but felt it was missing the flavors and caramelization a kho should have :( Lastly, dessert which was a Vietnamese coffee flavored creme. Plated BEAUTIFULLY and omg, the best dessert I've had in awhile. Still thinking about it this morning. 5/5. Overall, food was great but don't expect authentic/traditional flavors. It's more of a Western and Vietnamese fusion cuisine. I don't think they cook with fish sauce which is what really adds the signature umami flavor in Vietnamese dishes.
