LA Week at Little Sister! Came by the afternoon with a friend. No wait before dinner rush was a sweet spot. Love the interior and vibe of he establishment. Got to sample a variety of items along with two main dishes I got to share with my friend. Everything tasted fresh and different. The desert course was a nice finish to the course. I went here this past Sunday and it was my first time! My company that I went with recommended this place and I am so glad he did. Parking for a Sunday evening was easy, we parked around the block and had reservations for 7:15pm. The name of our server is slipping my mind but the host and server all the way to the food runners were amazing! The atmosphere was so cute and romantic. Being part Vietnamese and completely vegetarian I was very excited to check this location out, I've not been to the El Segundo one either. Our server asked if we had any allergies, etc and I told her no allergies but I am a vegetarian and do not like mushrooms. She was so sweet to go through the whole menu with me and let me know what could be modified. As a first time customer I was thrilled that she did that. I can't recall the cocktails I ordered but it was a total of 3, one was a Pina coloada rendition they had, which was absolutely delicious! My company ordered the hot Saigon drink twice! For my 2nd round, I got the Kennedy, and the final I got the drink with the butterfly in it!! For food we ordered the vegan spring rolls and warm milk rolls for starters. I loved both but my favorite were the warm spring rolls!! It came with a butter honey that was super indulgent. The vegan spring rolls came with a peanut sauce (MUST) but I felt like they were a bit small. Great presentation though. For our entrees, I got the broken bowl with crispy tofu, no pickled daikon. I asked our server if the kitchen had fresh Thai chili peppers, if they did if I could have a handful chopped up into my bowl and she said they definitely do have thai chili's they could cut up for me. Little Sister having fresh Thai chili alone is like 10 stars to me and I hope they keep this option available for us spice lovers. My company ordered the Coco Pork with no modifications and he said it was great! There was this vegan 6 hour marinade my broken bowl came with that was absolutely delicious. We made a reservation on Open Table for a late dinner at the start of Dine LA week (winter 2026). During Dine LA, you can get an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $55. The atmosphere is ideal for date nights or group catch-ups, although the tables are quite close together, so you may hear the conversation of the people sitting next to you. Service is always warm and attentive. The first time we went to Little Sister in 2025, the food did not impress me, but this time was a different story. Little Sister excelled at bold tastes and textures through a Vietnamese fusion lens. The papaya salad was bursting with flavor and crunch from the candied shrimp and roasted peanuts. The Shorty offered a mix of umami and sweetness from the braised short rib. The dessert, a Vietnamese coffee custard, was divine. We left feeling stuffed and with leftovers. Their cocktail list is also full of unique selections. I opted for the Kennedy, a vodka-based drink with passion fruit liqueur, pineapple, lime, and egg white. It was very well-balanced while also quite strong. My partner got the XO, Little Sister's version of an old fashioned. The blend of citrus and spices was really pleasant. I came here with a couple of friends. We started with two appetizers- octopus and crispy rice. Both were reasonably large for appetizers and enjoyable. We ordered the crab rice dish (forget what it's called), garlic noodles and a beef dish. Then we finished with a key lime dessert (which I would have finished if I wasn't so full). Service from Michael was great. He was on point with time, spacing and service. He was informative with the history of ambiance (mood, music, a chef's vision). Wow! Why didn't I know about this place? It's fantastic! And they have other locations across LA yayyyyy! This time I went to the RB one after a nice beach and PV walk. Delish. We had the fish appetizer, and the spring rolls. We were in a rush and needed to eat light. The flavor of their sauces and seasonings is so so good! Costs are as expected. Service was good. The interior decor is very cute. Live the red leather seats with the bronze grommets like a 70s modern twist. The service is what you would find in a semi-fine restaurant. The atmosphere is enjoyable, although the DTLA location is a bit noisy. We had a very tasty Lunar New Year Prix Fixe dinner which offered a choice of appetizers, main course and a dessert of cafe sua da pot au creme. The appetizer of housemade dumplings with chicken and shiitake mushrooms with a chili vinegar dipping sauce was tasty start. The short rib and salmon dinners were also creative and well prepared. So many delicious-sounding options. The Croque Madame was very good. Great flavors with the shrimp, pork, egg and brioche. The salad was a refreshing balance, but the dressing from the salad makes the bread too soggy. Maybe plate the salad in a bowl alongside the Croque Madame. XO brunch fries were definitely the highlight of the meal. So much good flavors in each bite. I tried some of my friend's pho bo. Unfortunately the flavor wasn't there. Too much fat in the broth and there was no depth to it. Pho broth needs to simmer for hours, the longer, the better. There was only one server managing the entire restaurant, and he was nice, but service was really slow. Took about 20 minutes to get our fries and another 30 minutes to get our main dishes. Also, there was a dead roach on the floor, next to our table, which I pointed out to the server and he got rid of it. It's SoCal. Roaches are expected. It was dead so that's a good sign that the place is sprayed, but still not great to see as you're eating. We came here for dinner on a Saturday, & I left surprised at the quality of the Yelp reviews. It is a cute place, & we scored a meter right out front. But we had mixed feelings about the food & the service was odd. Warm milk rolls - the hot, soft in the middle rolls served w/butter & star anise-spiced honey were super yum. Definitely recommend! Pan seared sea bass - looked good & my friend really enjoyed it Shaky shaky beef - the tomato rice was the best thing on this plate. The beef was described as very soft tenderloin chunks - but it was cooked so long, it had the texture of chewy beef liver in too much overly salty sauce. Plus the watercress salad was 90% stem. I do not recommend. Pan fried eggplant - a generous side dish, & well seasoned. Would recommend. Chocolate mousse cake - this was very good, served with a raspberry sorbet. I'd recommend. The service was odd. No butter knives were given with the (not fully soft) butter & sticky honey for the warm milk rolls. And three separate bussers tried to clear away the butter & honey dish while we were still eating our rolls. Our server gave my friend a very vague description of how to eat her sea bass ssam style (it came with a bowl of lettuce, herbs, vermicelli & peanuts), but the fish itself is way too wet & sauced to be eaten with your hands in a lettuce leaf wrap. We looked at pics of the fresh rice rolls & they too were sitting in a sauce. Too much automatically sauced food on this menu. The things I did enjoy & would recommend do not justify a return visit. Price is usually not something that affects my reviews - but the prices here are not worth it at all. We came for mother's day and it was a whole feast! the food was really good and something unique and I loved it so much I went to the el Segundo one as soon as it opened at the pointe. the service wasn't great from what I remember with slightly rude hosts and a server who was like no where to be found, and I think even rolled her eyes at us when we asked her to turn the heater on because we were sitting outside. mind you, we had a reservation and all and we were under the impression we would be dining inside because we had a large group with old folks who get cold easily. other than that the experience was good. obvi getting the food togo isn't the same but I do think they are unique enough to try once! it is really expensive though and that was 2 or 3 years ago so be prepared to spend some cash. read more

First time going and I would highly recommend. The atmosphere is laid back yet has the ambiance of being upscale. I started with a drink- the Golden Lotus. Which was made by Mike, who is one the best bartenders I've encountered, the drink was delicious. Then based off of Ryan's awesome recommendation I ordered the 'Xoi'- Sticky Rice and the Goi Cuon. Both were good, but I found myself loving the Gio Cuon (spring rolls) more! I highly, highly recommend their spring rolls! I'd already had an opportunity to dine here with my little sister last year and I knew I had to return with my husband. We walked in knowing that the food was going to be everything I remembered based on the smell and I knew I wouldn't want the night to end once I lifted my fork. I'll be honest, I had to use my hands a couple of times . Don't judge how else would you eat fried chicken and lettuce wraps. We had so much more than that but the aforementioned appetizers needed hand action and finger licking. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable with a cool sense of humor. This was a multi vibe type of spot... family friendly , date night chilling, single living , and girls night thrilln all mixed into one . I think there was miscommunication because the hostess said she didn't have our reservation down, but they were still able to sit us at another table. We were a party of 2. The food was delicious; it's a little more expensive than the local Vietnamese spot around the corner, but the top-notch quality makes it definitely worth the extra money. The decor is nice, and the seating is quite comfortable. We went on a Saturday night, so it was pretty packed. Unfortunately, because it was packed, the service was super slow. I don't blame that on the server, as she was racing back and forth bringing orders out. It took almost an hour for our food to start coming out after ordering and another hour for the salt and pepper dish THEY recommended to us. We wish they had given us a warning. Finally made it to this place I've wanted to try for quite awhile. Reservations highly recommended. Had an early dinner on a Friday night. My friend has been talking about their "Bee Sting" specialty cocktail. Yes it's yummy, reminiscent of a lemon drop with a hint of spiciness. I tried the XO. Their take on an old fashion. Nice version with a hint of Szechuan pepper. Lovely drink. Since we're early we started with happy hour apps. 1) little sticky-rice cakes deep fried with a yummy Malaysian (?) influenced chili coconut samba sauce. Very good. Had an almost "meaty" texture/flavor. 2) crisp pork rolls-aka egg rolls. Served with an abundance of fresh lettuce, aromatic herbs. This was a winner. 3) grilled baby octopus. SOOO tasty. Charred baby octopus with a side of cilantro/avocado(?) salsa type sauce. 4) green papaya salad-a staple when I see it on a menu. The addition of candied tiny red shrimp was unusual & delicious. 5) pan fried egg plant. Most likely steamed first then sautéed so it wasn't greasy. Minced pork & lap cheung slices. Another winner. 6) grilled pork chop-if you like pork chops you need to try their brined in 5 spice version. Tender, well seasoned, not dried out. REALLY good. 7) Xo salt & pepper-a curried rice dish topped with soft shell crab, assorted shellfish. This was also VERY tasty. However, be warned it's served in a 14" wok. So if you don't come with 4 or more people I might want to pass if you don't want A LOT of leftovers. 8) double chocolate cake with raspberry sherbet. Presentation was beautiful. Half the plate dusted with cocoa powder. Rich dense chocolate cake, I think they said the sherbet was house made. Parking can be challenging (street or crowded coin metered lot). I've been here twice now. The first time was the best! The wine recommendation was great and we sat at the bar. We ordered the papaya salad and the seafood stew which was really tasty. I told the server about my gluten allergy and she helped us out. The second time was not so great. I sat in standard and we ordered the bún and my company ordered a tofu dish. I asked the server if it can be made gluten free and she said yes. The bún came with all the gluten things on it. I reminded the server that I am celiac and she took it back only to come out with the same bowl under two minutes later. I asked her straight up if they just removed the gluten on top and gave her the same bowl. They did. I explained what an allergy is. She was apologetic but just clueless. They remade it but it took 30 minutes. My friend and I basically had different meals that night. That's not the issue though. If you have celiac or food allergies, I wouldn't recommend dining here. Or, make sure they know and care about your food disability. Great design and good music, though. read more

Came on a Friday night without reservation, and we were able to sit at the bar for some food and drinks. We really liked the crispy prawn appetizer, fried sea bass, and their grilled pork rolls. We also ordered their black rice, and this was a miss for us. It's one of their recommended dishes, but we found the rice to be dry and a little hard to chew. There was a good amount of seafood, but not worth the price and we didn't finish half of it. Service was friendly and we enjoyed the ambiance. This location is located in The Point in El Segundo. This new plaza is a small place and has just about enough parking. The food here was delicious but too much cilantro. we ordered off the happy hour menu. We had chickens wings, egg rolls, shaky shaky beef, and the goi du du. Every dish has cilantro mixed into it. The place had music on really loud so it is hard to have a conversation. Not a place for kids, especially the way the dishes are prepared. The staff was pleasant. They were prompt and courtesy. Not a bad place to try out. I'd come again if someone else wants to but I wouldn't suggest it myself mainly because I can get decent food for cheaper. read more

The starters on our meal were great. We had the milk rolls, which came out hot and crispy. There are 4 to an order. From there we had the imperial rolls, and they were delicious filled with pork and shrimp. The sticky rice dish was also delicious but I suppose I was hoping it was like my mother had made it. This dish was very good but the rice came in small blocks and was deep fried, a trend I've been seeing in Asian restaurants. The beef dish was also very good. The short rib was tender and falling off the bone. The black rice with seafood was just okay. I found the seafood crepe to be on the salty side. The crepe was crisp and had shrimp, both large and small. The crepe was large and served very crispy. It would have been more enjoyable if it weren't so salty. Our server was also doubling as the bartender, and the service started out okay. The last dish to come out took a bit of time. After we had finished, we sat at our table for about 20 minutes as our server/bartender was behind the bar chatting with customers. I flagged down another server to ask for our check. Other team members would periodically bring plates of food out to our table. The sticky rice dish was a complete let down. The rice came straight out of the fryer and they added the egg too soon. It basically cooked the yolk completely. The few times I've had this dish before the yolk was runny. When I brought it to the servers attention, she doubled down & said the yolk is never served runny Additionally, she forgot to ring in one of the dishes and when we inquired about it at the end of the meal she lied and said the kitchen was behind and she would check on it. Been here before and I have to say the quality has gone down immensely. We were a party of 8 last night and ordered about 16 items with 8 dishes... 2 per dish. Let's start with the apps. Favs were the fried shrimp and pork belly apps. The fresh rolls and chicken wings were below average. Tasted like something out of a cheap hole in the wall Vietnamese place ( and that is being kind ) the dumplings - NO FLAVOR. Broth sucked. The dinner items ; shakey shakey beef was over cooked and under seasoned- horrible. Pork chops - bland, cooked well but nothing amazing about it. Noodle were disgusting , they used spaghetti noodles not Asian noodles and once again nothing in it just some dry seasoning - horrible. We spent about $800 with drinks and it was horrible. This was my first time at Little Sister and it's been on my long list of restaurants to try for a while now I must say it absolutely lived up to my expectations -- and I'm a BIG foodie. Michael was our server and he took such good care of us. He made sure we had everything we needed the whole time -- as a server myself, I appreciated his energy, and how he accompanied the experience beautifully. The flavors of the food were absolutely insane. I was having a little moment with myself (LOL).
