Very cool joint! Big changes, positive ones, since going back to Woody's (in lieu of the Little Woodrow's it was about ten months ago)! While I still categorize this as a "dive bar," the only thing that merits that title is the laid back atmosphere, the low-key patrons, the limited bar food menu, and decent drink specials every day of the week. Very large space anchored by a huge u-shaped bar right in the middle with tables and seating areas on each side. Tons of TVs; great for sports viewing. One TV has a full, comfy leather sofa set in front of it and is hooked up to an Xbox. Several other fun activities to keep you busy: pool table inside and several on the uber neat outdoor patio; spanking new GoldenT; and a digital jukebox that you can take photos on (interesting concept). The whole back corner is constructed of huge glass "garage doors" that bring the outside in whether they're open or not (of course, open on a nice day is better). There are several picnic tables and a stage for live music out back, that is the forefront for a great woodsy view - you completely lose sense that you are in a shopping center in Bee Cave. Overall: A great place to hang out any time or day. Super friendly staff, great happy hour (see below), good for sports lovers...oh, and for the "Squatters" (aka the ladies - the men's room is labeled "Standers" - at first we thought it read "Squirters" which would have been so much more funny - lol!), there are about 10 stalls, all really clean and have working doors. I so badly want to love Woodys but every time I leave disappointed. The drinks are cheap but the service is terrible if you aren't sitting at the bar. Came in for lunch when it wasn't crowded at all and ordered chicken tenders and a side of cheese fries; it took 50 minutes (no exaggeration) for the food to come out. The chicken was over cooked and burnt and I wouldn't even call the fries "cheese fries" as there was hardly any cheese. I wish I would have taken a photo of how bad the food was. read more

This place is absolutely terrible!!! I went here last night with my bestie and had the worst experience. We are both working moms and the stars aligned for us bc our husbands were out of town and we had a sitter for our kids (we have 7 between the two of us) Rarely do we get a chance to go out so we ubered to the closest bar to us after watching our teenager perform in a awesome musical. We felt like we were on top of the world which was only ruined by the service here. As soon as we ordered our first drinks we could tell something was off with the bartender. We ordered two drinks and two shots. My friend's shot had a hair in it which unfortunately she only discovered after she took the shot. We shook it off though because we weren't going to let anything ruin our night. We ordered the next round of the same thing which went fine but then when we ordered our third from the other lady bartender she completely forgot about us and we waited a while for her to remember until finally the other guy helped us and got them for us. She came over and apologized to us and after I jokingly told her we should get half off on shots. She laughed in my face and told me for what? I felt like I was being gaslit and tried to play it off like oh I meant could we have half a shot split between us. I was pretty frustrated at this point but decided to shake it off because again, it was such a rare occasion that we get a time out like this. Another guy at the bar tried to order us shots and the bartender refused and said he wouldn't serve us anymore so we asked the woman bartender if we could order from her and she said how about some waters which we took and gladly drank down but we were pretty taken back by this. We asked her if we did anything to make them think we were too intoxicated and she said no, we were perfectly fine but the sheer volume that we had drank they needed us to drink some water. Now, I agree we had three drinks and three shots in about a one and a half- two hour span but we were completely coherent and the bar had 30 more minutes until it closed and we got in our Uber home so we were definitely trying to make the most of our short time there so I drank down the water and asked the guy for another shot after I had finished the water to which he said we were cutoff. I asked for the check which was $160 because I was paying for the both of us. Now normally when we go out we take care of our servers because we know they don't make a lot hourly so I would usually tip anywhere to $40-$80 depending on how good the service was but I'm honestly getting fed up with tipping culture where I'm tipping everyone who has an add tip option even when they haven't provided any real service so I looked the guy in the eyes and said I'm not tipping you tonight because of the service or lack thereof we received. He told me I should have told him that when I got there bc he wouldn't have served me and I said I would have tipped generously if he hadn't been such an ass and that we'd done nothing wrong. He told me he would remember my face and I said great because I would never come back in there and I hope he thinks of it the next time they treat people so poorly. Moral of the story...don't come here unless you want overpriced drinks with shitty service. read more

Woody's can't even get the TV's to work! Most of the patrons' afternoon was spent watching blank screens around the bar. The new ownership wasted four months with empty promises to make things better, but the place has never been worse. Some "manager" finally tried to figure out how the outdated TV's and sound system worked during Week 1 of college football during the night games. Four months to learn how to work the TV's???? The "stars" in the review are only for the the staff who serve incompetent management. The bartenders and servers deserve better. read more

Oh my gosh, I haven't rated these guys on here yet? So this was one of the first places we found when we moved here. We were feeling a little sad since we had quite a few watering holes back in Oregon where we moved from and we wanted that kind of "Cheers" bar feel and this definitely hit he spot. The guy who manages there is top notch, if something is wrong - just tell him and he will make it right. He is the one who is always running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Always friendly and good good and drinks. We have gone consistently since moving here and enjoy every time we are in. Get the gator bites or the turkey club sandwich, so good! Don't forget to try them spicy tots, those are always good for sharing! Esp the spicy ones. Also love the firecracker shrimp- so good. Darn it! It's lunch time, I need some food Seymour! read more

This was a nice find. The staff was very nice, the food was good, and the beer was ice cold. It was our first time visiting so we ordered the firecracker shrimp, and chicken wings with two sides of ranch. We were happy with what we ordered. Mediocre food and 'can't wait to get out of here' atmosphere. Forced to eat here after a band no-show at Poodies, I had brisket nachos and my wife ordered chicken strips. Not much of a menu. The brisket on the nachos was good but the nacho balance was way off. Mostly cheese and not near enough pico and jalapeños. I ate half of them. The chicken was bland and dry, but edible, which is more than I can say for the accompanying fries. Horrible. The kitchen should be ashamed. Worse than the soggy, mushy, limp fries at Angels. Inedible. The whole time we were there they played the same awful song with heavy bass thump and clap tracks. Maddening. Safe to say that was our first and last visit. read more

We found Woody's thanks to Yelp while we were staying nearby on Lake Travis. Let me tell you, it was worth that drive! They have a very abundant selection of beers, mixed drinks, and wines even! Their food menu has a good variety too! We very much enjoyed the Cajun Dry Rub wings we ordered! TVs are aplenty, so no matter what sport you're trying to keep up with, they'll have it on. Our server, Faith, was very attentive and has such an awesome personality! As were all of the girls working that day, as I noticed that they were all working together to help one another make sure each and every table never went unattended!! A few other details worth mentioning would be the outdoor entertainment stage where the host live bands, heated back dining area, cornhole boards, shuffle board, and let's not forget the well maintained bathrooms! :) Would definitely come back to this place repeatedly if I lived closer! read more

I've always loved this bar and grill, great drinks and food and wonderful bar staff. Only complaint is the new wait staff is lacking a little. Now I understand when they're slammed, but when I'm only 1 of 3 tables in the place I don't quite get it. This is coming from a server. If you like spending $6.50 for a tap beer and dry, super dry taco meat, this is your place. The salsa tastes like something out of a cheap can. The tortillas are stale. The brisket is super dry. Been here a few times and Woody's is a solid venue for beers, watching a game, or just hanging. They do have a pretty expansive bottled beer menu as well as the usual folks on tap. Sure I'll have a Pearl Snap please!! There is a cool patio outside for smoking a coffin nail or for just chillen. It also appears to be dog friendly. I like this place as it is a surprise venue in the Galleria area, almost divey but not quite. We camped out at a high top and watched a hockey game and never lacked for beverages, very good service. They had live music today(on a Thursday) and it was pretty nice! They have a cute patio and "cafe lights" hanging all across the exterior for a great ambience. The server was so nice but a lot of our stuff came out slow and/or never came out. They have plenty of seating and even a couple of teeny tiny pool tables in the back. Aside from being a normal place in a trendy area for a blue collar guy like me to get regular ol' chicken wings and a few beers, the Service was impeccable... The young man bartending referred to me by my first name after he took my debit card to start my tab. When I felt daring enough to order the hottest wings he gave me a sample of the sauce with a piece of celery. After tasting it I realized I couldn't handle it. If it wasn't for that sample I would've ruined my order and been a little upset at myself. Upon ordering a beer and not knowing the local craft, the bartender gave me a sample of what he thought I would like. Sure enough I agreed with him and ordered it. Why would someone buy a very successful business and immediately change the thing that made it successful? That is the definition of stupidity. The beer at the bar has almost 40 beers on tap. Sports bar is awesome and you can watch your favorite team play. So now here is what I can recommend on the menu is Diner Burger is a 4 star delicious and served with fries.......the Firecracker Shrimp excellant.......but skip the fried pickles it was cooked too well for me and the mixed bar drink margarita was watered down. But overall it was more fun than a barrel of monkeys was lively friendly and 100 percent Texas. I will definitely return just to have the Burger and Shrimp, next time try the barbaque sauce with the Brisket or pulled pork served with cabbage, shredded jack, sour cream, cheddar cheese and pickled onions. Fish and Chip was very good as well .....recommend this on the menu as well. Always ask for daily specials ....it a not a large menu but sure has a great ambiance with great people. It's one of the few places in the area still open after 10. We went by after a show in the area with some friends and their kids. Well, apparently after 9, you can forget about the "grill" part of the name. After getting us seated and going through a huge thing of getting our tabs figured out, we all got orders placed with the waiter who obviously wasn't super pleased to be helping us out. About 30 minutes later the waiter came by and told me I either had to make the minors leave or he would card them all and boot them. I asked the 3 minors and their parents to leave. The kicker was they still delivered one of the parent's drinks about 10 minutes later and made us pay for it. While it is one of the few places in the area still open late, sometimes it's better to drive for a bit than to settle for convenience of closeness. read more

Decent place with plenty of TVs to watch football. Couple issues brought this review down to two stars. First was the inattentive waitress. Sweet and all but couldn't find her most of the time. My wife and I sat at our table for quite a while waiting for our waitress to walk by... Again, nowhere to be found. The second issue was the smoking. Woody's has a side patio that the garage style doors open up where people can sit outside. The problem is they allow smokers to sit 5 to 10 feet from the door and the way the prevailing wind blows all their cigarette smoke came inside of the restaurant. Completely disgusting... I wanted a fun place to take my friends who are visiting austin for the weekend. This place was empty on a Friday night, maybe 6 tables total. The GM was arrogant and rude. Pains me to write this as it's a great bar and the locals seem to love it. The bartender on Tuesday night (1/28/20) was the biggest jerk I've ever seen. He went out of his way to be rude to customers (who seemed to not be local) and was very brash to others. I've never seen a bartender be as rude as he was to his patrons. This is my 3rd time here and every time he has been rude to me AND the people around me. Tonight he overheard a group of gentleman talking about the tragic death of Kobe Bryant and rudely interrupted them by saying "Do you guys mean the rapist?" -- What an absolute poorly timed TERRIBLE thing to say as America is mourning over this tragedy.
