Oh man do I really regret coming here. I wanted to give a new Italian place a shot since I always go to my favorite restaurant in the north end. From start to end, the experience here was subpar. Our meatball appetizer arrived cold. We weren't served bread and our water wasn't refilled frequently, so we had to constantly remind our waiter. We finally got bread once the entrées arrived. My risotto didn't have much flavor and the pasta wasn't anything special. We weren't even offered the dessert menu. Our waiter seemed to be annoyed with us for asking for the bare minimum attention. Everyone who ordered linguini was given penne, and we were not informed until we asked that they had run out of linguini. The location is perfect, restaurant was crowded as expected in the North End, but the servcie was terrible. They only serve wine/beer which we realized after we orderd cocktails and the response was simply "No." He did not speak English (or Italian) so we had to find another server who clarified they had no hard alcohol. Bravo! First time dining at Loconte's we were impressed! Being local, there is quite the competition in the area. We wanted to try a new spot before the Celtics game and DAMN did we pick good. Cute, quaint little place away from the hustle and bussle of some of our other favs. When we arrived it was hot as hell in there, which was a little unsettling but that changed after we got our app. (Thank you for not sweating us out) The chicken soup was BOMB. SO much flavor and a huge portion! Definitely can be split between two people. My man got the chicken parm, and for me the chicken manga. This restaurant is under new ownership and is absolutely amazing. The chef came out to share the menu with us himself and had such a fun personality. We got several appetizers and they were all wonderful - Arancini, Meatballs, Garlic Bread and the best was a one pound ravioli with the best tasting ricotta. OMG this small North End Italian bistro caught me way off guard in how delicious there cuisine tasted. It's was late one night and we randomly picked a new spot just waking down the street. Winner winner Italian dinner ! Ok, no issue getting seated and in fact we were seated in the front window. Our waiter answered all our questions and shared the specials of the evening. I choose the "Braciolettine" which consisted of three veal cutlets rolled and stuffed with prosciutto, mozzarella, & roasted red peppers served next to shiitake mushrooms, and chopped tomatoes. It's was served along side with house pasta in savory Italian gravy. This meal was sensational and my mouth was screaming with flavor bursts. The chef should be commended on his fine cooking. Went for Mother' Day, fourth time here. Friendly staff, great food! The dipping oil with the bread is the best we've had. Caesar Salad perfect, not too wet or dry, and large enough for two. 3.5 stars. The restaurant is a nice little Italian spot with traditional plates, nothing fancy just good basic food. The portions are HUGE!! You will not leave hungry. I ordered eggplant parm and I loved that it was stacked like a lasagna and the slices were thin and cooked perfectly. My husband got the chicken parm and he thiught it was ok - the chicken was quite tough - and we both thought the sauce could have used a little bit more flavor. They give you a limoncello shot to round out the meal, that was a nice touch. There was no AC, or it was on very low, and it was a hot evening so a cooler room would have been more enjoyable. I had also been looking forward to a nice martini with dinner but they only have a limited beer and wine. read more

As we walked in we were greeted by a woman who jumped of a bench that was outside of the establishment saying "do you need something?" "yes, we have reservations." She pointed us to our table.. We order our apps.. Mussels, Bruschetta and Arancini balls. The mussels and arancini came out in 2 minutes.. mussels smelled like urine so we sent back and got bruschetta. The arancini were good. The bruschetta was basically bread with a few chopped tomatoes with melted cheese (if they added garlic would've made a good garlic bread) was not bruschetta. Our food came out before we were two bites into our apps... super speedy service! One meal was missing, kind-of understood, as my friend and I got the same dish, the Scrod special, which was very good. Absolutely disgusting. My father got the Veal Parm. There was Absolutely no flavor except for salt. I got the bolegnese and it tasted like old elementary school lunch. Absolutely bland and with no flavor besides salt. How can you call an Italian restaurant? I could cook something with far more flavor. So would not recommend especially when it's pricey as well. Three stars for mediocre pasta and not a long wait. No star for service. My friend just wanted our checks split and she wouldn't take more than three cards for the bill. He asked for the manager and she came and yelled at him for making that request. She also made a borderline questionable comment saying "I don't know where you're from but that's not how we do it here". He's from Lebanon so it seemed a quite rude to say that kind of thing. She also said he should've told the waiter when we sat down. Who does that?? He wasn't asking for a free meal or anything, he just said in a polite way we'd like to split the check between these cards. We went to Loconte's Saturday at 4:30pm. Lots of empty tables but we were seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant next to another couple. I asked if we could sit in one of the window tables or against the wall for more privacy and was told they were all reserved. I didn't think I'd need a reservation at 4:30, but the hostess was rude and said I should know about Open Table. The food was fine, but the experience not worth it. We left at 5:45 and none of the "reserved" tables were filled yet. We won't be going there again and wouldn't recommend it. read more

However, they fried squid is not very crispy, and marinara sauce is provided (I personally would have preferred cocktail sauce). 7/10 ALSO, they provide free bread. The bread was warm and crunchy, and a yummy olive oil dip was provided. ENTREE 1: Shrimp, broccoli, & ziti pasta ($25) - 7 pieces of jumbo shrimp embedded in tons of ziti pasta and broccoli. Tasted okay. Sauce was sort of plain, which made the pasta fairly bland. 6/10 ENTREE 2: Lobster ravioli ($25) - 5 huge pieces of ravioli that contained chunks of lobster. There was also 3 shrimps in the sauce. Tasted pretty good but not sure if it's worth it for the price. 7.5/10 DESSERT: Tiramisu ($7) - The waiter did not provide me with a dessert menu. instead, he asked me "chocolate cake or tiramisu." I had no idea what the prices were at all. I chose the tiramisu, and he brought it out after 3 minutes of putting the order in. 6/10 OVERALL: Service was too fast. The waiter would come and take away the plates as soon as he saw that we were finished. Maybe it was because it was a Wednesday night, and not many people were there. Also, the waiter seemed grumpy. He did not say anything when I said "thank you" to him when he took away the plates and moved with haste. WORTH IT? Only with the Groupon. You pay $50 for a $76 voucher, and I also got 25% off since I was a first-time user, so I paid a total of $37.50 for it. However, tax and tip are not included, so I paid another $15 out-of-pocket. I would go back again with the Groupon. I also set a reservation beforehand. I know that there are many negative reviews about the place, but I did not experience any of them, apart from a grumpy waiter.
