We were then accused of not paying bc the woman couldn't find the money she had taken from us. As much as we love this ice cream spot, I've never been accused of not paying. Walked in with our whole family of 12 and wasn't greeted at all. The lady just stood there looking at us, waiting for us to order. We were all pretty disappointed that they do not offer samples which makes it harder to chose with all of the flavors they have. In the end I decided to go with the the peanut crunch sundae. It sounded good and I was in the mood for peanut butter. When my sundae arrived to our table, the presentation was nice but once I dipped my spoon in, the ice cream was melted. Not sure if the hot fudge melted the ice cream or she just had my sundae sitting out while she made my husbands brownie sundae but all I can say it was a major disappointment. The Peanut Crunch Sundae... Haven't had anything else like it, anywhere... The sundae is built atop a couple of scoops of their signature peanut butter fudge ice cream, generously drizzled with hot fudge, a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkling of their peanut crunch dust & topped off with a cherry... Absolute perfection... Seems simple, though without THEIR killer ingredients, (regardless of where you have this made), it'll just fall flat... The peanut butter fudge ice cream alone (sans the toppings) is freaking amazing... Pulling up to this particular location, I was already impressed... Had an old time candy store feel with the pink walls, candy-striped booths, cartoony smiley-faced sundaes on the wall & ornamental iron/heart shaped seats (which my wife said were "cute"). Just eating in-house made the overall experience "that much more enjoyable"... Though we arrived just before closing (around 8:10PM on a Friday), we were STILL greeted with a smile from the initial order placement, along with a genuine follow-up smile & Thank You when the ice cream was dropped off at the table... As a kid growing up in Livermore I always looked forward to getting a treat at Loard's! It still has the same quaint, authentic, small town ice cream shop feel that it did 15 years ago. Hello Nostalgia. Whenever I have a craving for some good old fashioned ice cream, I genuinely adore coming to Loard's. Sure I could go to Baskin Robbins for a cheap scoop or Cold Stone for some fancy concoction, but there's NOTHING like a having a sundae or banana split served to you in an old fashioned glass ice cream dish. They have tons of flavors and of course you can fully customize your order. Personally I love getting scoops of peanut butter and chocolate ice cream with hot fudge, caramel, and marshmallow sauce...yum yum...and if I'm in the mood maybe I'll go 'healthy' and add a banana :-) And of course I have to mention that you can always get candy here to take home or enjoy with your ice cream. It seems like they don't have as many candy choices as they used to, but that could also just be a difference in perception from kid to adult. Regardless they have plenty of jawbreakers, fudge, and gummies to fulfill your sweet tooth! I know they've been in the same location possibly since dinosaurs were ordering root beer floats, but I do think it'd be a great business move for them to find a spot a few blocks over on First Street. Loard's would fit in perfectly with Livermore's downtown scene! And I must say that (& solely because of location) we tend to go to First Treat more often even though I think Loard's has the better dessert. But hey, that's obviously not my decision to make! This Loard's is set up almost exactly the same as the one in my town. I dropped my huge scoop of ice cream while walking back to my car a few days ago. The girl in there was nice enough to give me another one judging by the sad look on my face and my empty cone in my hand. That's good service! People here are always friendly...much more friendlier than my neighborhood, much cheaper Rite Aid. Besides, I get to choose between a wider variety of cones for my ice cream. Yum. They have the same old fashioned look with pink and white decor and table service. They still serve sundaes in glass sundae dishes which many other Loards locations do not. This is a cute little homegrown ice cream shop, and they have a good variety of flavors of ice cream. They don't have any options for add ons for the ice cream but their flavors are good. The two times I've been here it's the same couple working (don't know if they're a couple). They both have the same sourpuss face, Maybe they can tell that we're new to the area or maybe they just don't like me and my bf but they literally lose all their happiness as soon as we walk in. It's weird because we're friendly and polite people, however, after being greeted with the stank face I wont go back.
