My Mother was in the mood for a seafood lunch. I didn't want to drive to City Island and based on the recommendations of friends I decided to come here. We got here about 2pm, they have indoor and outdoor seating, we decided to eat indoors. There were only two other people there so we didn't have to wait for to be seated. Parking lot is a little tight so park on street if you have a long vehicle. Nice little bar area with 4 seats and about 15 -20 tables spread out for dining . Market pricing is fair and service is good . Our waitress was very attentive to our needs . We had plenty of drinks , napkins and food . I ordered a dozen oysters, fresh and served with lemon slices and cocktail sauce. Girlfriend had the mussels in sweet red sauce , very good smooth consistency in the sauce . So my sister got the calamari and that's all she got, no vegetables or potato, even though it's a entree. Which for the price was ridiculous. In addition the calamari was bland. The pasta and French fries were a good supplement for the steamers. There was so much food that we had leftovers and we're big eaters. Everything was fresh and piping hot when we picked it up. I had called a day earlier to place a future order in case they ran out of the lobster specials but they said they had a lot and it wouldn't be a problem to call on the day of the actual order. Then the "whole belly" clam strips were anything but whole belly. They were over cooked, dry little strips. Nothing natural or fresh about them. The lobster bisque tasted like straight up vodka sauce. And you could tell they didn't cook the lobster pieces in it. They were on the bottom clumped together, pure white. Love this place! Been here the first time towards the end of the pandemic and it has become a family favorite once I convinced my parents to try it out. The last month alone I think I was here at least 3 or 4 times it was that good. Place is not overpriced and the seafood is always fresh. I know this is a seafood place, but the rib-eye is awesome here too! The Joe Special with the lobster is a family favorite along with the mussels in red sauce. If you ever go there and they have the shrimp and bacon appetizer special I recommend getting that! Place does get busy certain nights and the staff gets overwhelmed so patience becomes a virtue but hey its a popular place so its to be expected. I had high expectations for this place, Having previously had their Zappa de mussels at someone's house - the sauce was so good I decided to go myself. I ordered take out if the zuppa the mussels and a lobster roll. I'm pretty disappointed. The muscles themselves are small and some cases really shriveled and the lobster roll is basically a chunk of lobster on a roll. There's no sauce, no dressing except a side of dressing that is a mayonnaise-based spicy product. Lobster rolls I've had at other places have celery or some kind of dressing - like a tuna or chicken salad - not just pieces of lobster in bread. I think a little more effort would go along way if you're going to charge 15 bucks for a lobster roll. do a little more work guys, put a little effort into that lobster roll. The sauce was great; the red spicy sauce on the musskes was tasty but the actual muscles were tiny. IPDATE 4/12/18. Have since ordered the muscles again, and they've been much better both times...maybe that one time was a bad batch or wrong day. The muscles were much larger and very fresh!
