Worst restaurant experience i've had. Paid $17 for one egg, skimpy french toast, and terrible sausage. Ridiculous prices for tiny portions that don't even taste good. Menu says 10% off for military, but was told their policy is to give $5 off when the ticket is over $50. So much for appreciating veterans. read more

This place is AMAZING. Food, service, and atmosphere are all great!! The wait time on a Sunday morning was 10 minutes. They seated us fast. The waiting area is decent in size and provides lot of seating. They give you a card with a random name and that's how they let you know when your table is ready. The food. The food.....THE FOOD!! I personally thought the food was gonna be like a waffle house-ish level of quality but I think this can compare to the likes of First Watch. I had the border Buster. We ate lunch here today. The noon rush was there and the place was nearly full. The service was great with the waitress handling our drink order immediately after we were seated. Our food order was taken shortly after that and served in under 15 minutes. The place was pretty cool with the feel of an old diner. Counter, booth and tables were the seating options. I ordered breakfast, chicken fried chicken! Good flavor and not very dry. Gravy had good flavor as well. Hash browns were a little undercooked. Price vs value was pretty good. I would certainly visit again for breakfast. Others in our party had the hamburger, pot roast sandwich and blueberry pancakes. All reported good food. read more

We had an excellent time at Local Diner (or as the locals call it, "LD.") The food is tasty, the coffee hot, and the atmosphere calming and inviting. Our waitress Amanda was very friendly and an excellent source of info about the diner for our first outing there. She was fun to talk to, reliable, and took excellent care of us in whatever would make our dining experience better. It was 20 minutes from my house but I am glad I tried. I am big breakfast fun and the pancake was so delicious the way I like it. There are smaller portions of their favorites on the menu. So I order #1 a pancake with a egg with a sausage. It was a perfect portion for me without any guilt When I came in, it was a little chill with air-conditioning on. Some of the best pancakes we've ever had! As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile, taken to our seats and told that Zander would be right with us. Not only some of the best pancakes but waiters and waitresses as well. Zander was amazing from his attitude to his service. He was on top of it with a genuine smile. Thank you for the experience. We're (husband and I) from another city and already planning a trip just to bring our hungry teenage boys to LD because it's was so delicious that we need to share it with them. Now the food, my husband isn't fond of onions and most hash browns have a hint of onion flavor and these had were simply hash browns. Perfect! Local Diner is a cute place to get breakfast or brunch. It has a really nice classic diner feel with the checkerboard tiles and old-timey posters. The staff is nice and service is fast. The French Toast is super classic and basic. You can't really go wrong with it, as it's exactly what is expected. I really wish I could like this place. The Ambiance and location is perfect. But that's the extent of it. I understand that food prices are high, I understand payroll has increased. The decor makes you feel like you are really in a 50s diner! Instead of plexiglass partitions to protect from COVID (for those who are still weary/being cautious) they installed shower curtains between stalls which I think is so cute and genius! We went to Local diner about 9:15 this morning. Not many customers in there yet, as the surge starts about 10 am. Experiences in past have been good, but not this time. After waiting over 25 minutes to receive our breakfast, all the food was cold. We returned the food and left the restaurant. My wife told me they just had a change of ownership. With this bad experience and now my neighbor said their visit was also a disaster, words gets out very quick to not go there. Had lunch with my wife and 23 yr old grandson. He ordered a burger and fries ($13) My wife ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans ($15), I ordered fried calf liver with baked potato and wilted spinach ($15). My grandson pronounced the burger and fries as delicious, and my wife enjoyed the CFS. I received a nice serving of liver and onions with brown gravy. The spinach was crisp tender and tasty the baked potato was loaded. The liver, however was tough and grisly, much to my disappointment. Otherwise, service was attentive and courteous. I live in Plano and willingly drive to downtown Coppell to eat here. I think that sums it up. I love this place! The small town vibe of Coppell, the family feeling, the management, the food. I always feel right at home here and so does the rest of Coppell and all those that pass through. Very good on price for the quality. Great cream soda and lemonade! Both are actually made in house! If I come with my siblings, we ALWAYS get the Cinnful French Toast... it's like Cinnabon and French Toast had a baby and created the heavens and stars. Seriously in love! Now of course, the coffee is always great. I really like how EVERYTHING you need is on the table and the tables are big enough that you don't feel cramped with it all there. Highly recommend. Local Diner used to be our go to place and somehow it has changed. I brought my family from out of town telling them the pancakes were the best in town and they are no longer. What happened? The pancakes were gooey in the middle and burnt on the edges. No flavor! I think they either changed ownership or lost all their cooks. Just moved to the area. And was really excited to enjoy a family meal at the local diner. Really really disappointing as this was our first time eating there our server young gentleman with tattoos only reason why I'm saying tattoos so hoping that the owner manager is reading this post needs to work on customer service, I get it... it was an hour before closing but the place was really busy and you would think the service would've been good. Unfortunately, that was not the case as the customer service was really poor!! We never saw our server after he delivered our cold food or even bother to ask how was our food or if we require anything such as refills with our drinks. As for the food not much to brag about. I could've went to a national chain and probably got better quality and the food at least would've been hot. My wife's fries were cold and the amount of pot roast on her sandwich was minimal as they were probably scraping the bottom of the pan to make her sandwich as for the dipping juice was cold and bland and water down again they probably were attempting to provide a product that ran out so they had colored water instead. The atmosphere in our experience was not as welcoming as one would think. There was one gentleman who was a server very attentive to his customers, and was really putting in an effort to make sure there was quality customer service. I wish we would've had him that would made the experience nice and I would over and looked at the quality of the food. But when you have bad customer service cold food mediocre quality it leads to question if you want to really want to come back. You may want to try this restaurant and maybe get a different perspective or treatment from what we received but if someone ask, what would my recommendation be? I would tell them you can probably get a better quality product and service for the amount of money I paid somewhere else... hoping this is not going to be the norm in Coppell, Texas when a family wants to support local businesses. The pancakes were excellent, and if that and eggs were all I'd had I'd probably be giving them 5 stars. Sadly, the home fries seemed like pre-fab potato squares that hadn't been cooked long enough. worst diner ever went with my family and in the middle of covid probably half the workers were not in masks...... they had clear shields probably 3 workers were wearing but they didn't cover there nose and weren't protective what so ever.
