Thanks a lot. Only open at the most inconvenient hours. Came in before 8, got settled and then were told "we're Closed." I explained that we had come in before closing time, and we were still not served. It's hard enough to get in here when the place is closed at 4 on Sundays, and closed completely on Mondays and Tuesdays. I really like the food here but this leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. How are we supposed to support a local business when they're never open when we need them to be? It is too tricky to keep track of their fussy hours. Guess I'll get my burgers elsewhere.

Great spot for a burger and a beer. Ordered at the counter and got food pretty quickly. Decent beer selection too.

    Yes, it's glorious.

Best burger I've ever had, hands down. Awesome staff and relaxed ambiance. I take my family from several towns over to come here, grab a beer, and enjoy the manliest burger in existence: the Big Ed. Don't listen to the weenie on here who's big mad because he didn't look at the hours of operation. This place is one-of-a-kind.

Definitely a must try if you're passing through town. We stopped in for quick bite to eat and we weren't disappointed. Staff is very inviting, the place was packed with customers young and old which made the environment feel family friendly. Mac and cheese bites are absolutely to die for they're perfectly ooey-gooey. I had the bacon cheddar burger with red onions added and the temperature of the burger was cooked to perfection. Fries were also superb. My fiancé had the cardiac trail, it genuinely looked like the juiciest burger I've seen. We also ordered a few shakes, they weren't my personal favorite only because the chocolate shake tasted like Hershey syrup added to vanilla ice cream BUT the fiancé loved it so it all depends on tastebuds.

After a morning hike in Colfax, California, we found ourselves absolutely starving for a satisfying burger. That's when we stumbled upon Local Heroes in Auburn--and we were lucky enough to walk right up to the counter without a wait. The restaurant was clean and modern and we had no issues finding a seat. We went for the California Burger, topped with pepper jack cheese, crispy bacon, and avocado. It was, without a doubt, fantastic--juicy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Being a fan of fried pickles, I couldn't resist ordering a small order, along with a side of onion rings. Both were crispy, hot, and the perfect accompaniment to our burgers. The service was quick, and everything was served fresh and delicious. If you're ever in the area and craving a top-notch burger or simply a great variety of options, Local Heroes is definitely worth a visit. Plus, they've got a selection of local beers on draft, so you can enjoy a cold one to pair with your meal. Highly recommended!

Great local place for burgers and micro's, If you feel adventurous try the Auburn City Fire chili cheese burger with smoked ghost pepper cheese, to die for!

As you enter the main dining room, you walk up to the counter, grab a menu, make your selection, and pay for your order.

Local Hereos, located in downtown Auburn, CA has achieved quite a reputation among the area locals for serving some of the best burgers in Placer County. The Auburn area is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts, so the word of the delicious burgers has spread to the Bay Area, Sacramento and beyond... Local Heroes has derived the name from local heroes, including first responders and military personnel. As I served in the U.S. Navy, I received a 10% discount on my order, as it happens with all military and first responders. I didn't even have to show my V.A. card as I was granted the discount without question. No, I'm not a "local hero," as I'm a simple enlisted sailor that simply did my duty and was discharged with full military honors. As you enter the main dining room, you walk up to the counter, grab a menu, make your selection, and pay for your order. They will ask your name, and when you're order is ready, they'll call your name and you'll pick up your order. The main dining room is sparsely decorated, as it's mostly tile floor, pine waistcoating and white painted walls. The furniture is simple tables... hey... this is a restaurant that specializes in hamburgers, so there is nothing fancy! The layout of the restaurant is interesting, as it's divided into two sections, with the open kitchen and the order counter in the middle. You enter the restaurant through the main dining room, which is spartan and pretty much like any other diner that specializes in burger, but past the order counter, you enter another room that features a small beer bar, with beer on tap, high tables, and a sports bar-like atmosphere. There is also an extra order pick-up window, along with a giant container of ketchup with a pump, so you can fill little cups full of ketchup for your burger - if that's your interest - or to dip your fries into. From the "Burgers" section of the menu, I went with a "Villian Triple," along with a large order of fries. Triple beef patties? Of course! The menu describes the delicious "Villian Triple" as, "100% lean Angus beef patty, crisp lettuce, tomato, red onion and our house sauce served on a fresh Brioche bun with a pickle wedge on the side." Along with the burger, I ordered a large side of fries. There were many options that I could have adorned my burger with - for extra cost - such as cheese, avocado, bacon and mushrooms. Today, I simply looked forward to a delicious, "old school" hamburger and fries, and that's what I enjoyed. The "Villian Triple" will satisfy the appetite of a lumberjack or a NFL linebacker as it has THREE one-third pound beef patties, so do the math, and it adds up to THREE QUARTER POUND of 100& lean Angus beef! Where's the beer? ... it's here! The beef is grilled to medium, but if that's not in your interest, just ask and the accommodating staff will grill the beef to your specification. Burgers cooked medium works in my direction, and my three beef patties were seasoned, juicy, and were perfectly grilled to medium perfection. Did I mention three?... Yes, I enjoyed a whopping triple hamburger on this late Thursday morning. A hamburger is all about the meat, but to be complete, the burger must have a good bun that tastes great, you can hold in your hand, and supports and enhances the burger. No surprise, as my burger was wrapped around a fresh, slightly toasted Brioche bun, which held things together and made the burger experience supremely delicious. Fresh lettuce, tomato and red onion added to the deliciousness of this burger. I noted the meat and bun were hot and the lettuce, tomato and onion were chilled, which adds an extra taste dimension to an outstanding hamburger. The fresh, chilled slice of dill pickle on the side added a bonus and a taste sensation. I must add the bun, along with the meat, was basted in "house sauce," which was simply a variation of "Thousand Island Dressing." Actually, that is a compliment, as the sauce made this for a juicy, all-you-can-napkin "old school" burger experience, which is what I love. ketchup... mustard... dill pickle relish... simply were not needed, as this burger was standalone delicious. In my "burger opinion" you can enjoy a burger without a side, so I ordered a large side of "Fries," which complimented my "Villian Triple" in every way, including a small cup or two for dipping. The fries were cut thinly, and to my delight, the fries included potato skin! Yowza! The fries were deep fried to a medium golden brown on the outside, and were tender and juicy inside. What really made me smile is the fries were perfectly seasoned, and not salty, oily or mushy. Complete with the potato skins, the fries served at Local Heroes were perfect and made for an excellent side dish. Five Star Dining in downtown Auburn!

Been trying to get to this place for a while and finally had the chance today. The service, the…read morevibe, the food, everything was just right. Maybe on the pricey side but I think it was very fair for the quality they serve. On a Sunday afternoon it was a constant stream of customers, but they have some indoor seating and plenty of covered outdoor seating with misters. Ketchup and water dispenser available along with packaged condiments like more ketchup, mustard, mayo, and even malt vinegar. Names are called on the speaker and they have several windows to pick up at. Orders are placed inside or outside at the window. It's pretty neat and makes for a perfect blend of updated/nice with great old school charm. I ordered the Guido (pastrami burger), halfsies (family size of fries and onion rings, opted for waffle fries), and a vanilla twisty with heath bar. The Guido is excellent, but you have to know what you're in for. With the pastrami and the deli mustard, it tastes overwhelmingly like a pastrami sandwich and less like a burger. But the patty, cheese, and veggies do add something to it. It's also very messy, but it was delicious. The onion rings were excellent. They have that smooth batter style, sorta kinda like tempura. My wife prefers the panko style so she was more into the fries. For the fries, they were good but I'd probably opt for normal fries next time instead of waffle fries. I was expecting something somewhat similar to chick fil a, but these were a little on the thicker side and almost had the texture of potato wedges. I'm also not a big fry seasoning guy, and these were well seasoned. But that's a me thing. We still ate them all and you know when I come back I'm not leaving here without fries. The twisty was really good. I might be the only one, but I'm such a sucker for heath bar when I saw it on the menu I had to order it. The ice cream was really good quality. Had a great texture and taste. They were generous with the heath bar. I'm aware I took down a disgusting amount of food, but I think if I could change one thing I'd get the larger size of the twisty next time. It was really good. Wish they had a location closer than 30 mins up the hill, but that won't stop me. Note that my wife asked about the black bean patty and it has cheese in it so it is vegetarian but not dairy free or vegan. So if you go that way, there's that. Not much for you besides fries and dole whip.

I went w the Guido adding pastrami to their 1/3 lb patty. Their homemade burger sauce is a thousand island relative. Maybe a touch too much sauce but uber tasty. My wife had the Double D burger - double the patty!!! The waffle fries were well prepared and wonderfully seasoned - maybe some of the best fries seasoning in a long while. Mom took on the "cream" side w a Mocha Malt. It was thick and wonderful. The place is a counter order then pick up but that's just fine. It is nothing fancy inside but it gets the job done....Some small fly battles but great food. We will absolutely be coming back!
