When we got there, the staff were friendly and the service was fast. We arrived around 7:30am, and there was no line. However, from all the times we passed by, there was always a line! I definitely recommend ordering online if you are in a rush. I ordered an iced matcha tea latte with soy milk, sweetened with honey. My boyfriend ordered a hot matcha tea latte, sweetened with honey as well. I would say that their matcha tea is on the stronger side, BUT I appreciate that they have all these milk alternatives you can choose from. I think their latte art is super cute and a nice touch with presentation. If you like your tea sweetened, there are sugar packets on the high top tables. There are a few seating options: a couple of tables outside and inside, and a bar seating. I didn't stop and drink, but took my tea to go. It's definitely something to try if you are in Downtown! My husband and I stopped by here for coffee while staying at a hotel a couple miles away, and it was so delicious we ended up ordering 3 more coffees for our family members. Such a small cute hole in the wall located in downtown. We were at Walmart and we were looking for a place to eat and found this place it's right on the corner on the right as you're coming up Smith. The coffee shop itself is very chill and is a good place to do some work, read a book, or hang out in a small group (1~3 people). My favorite things about those local coffee shops that are their own uniqueness and personality, and local joe is definitely the place too! I love how local joe have their own signature drinks with food stamp arts on the top. It just brings joy and excitement. Imagine ordering your own cup of coffee during a hectic day with such creativity on it then just takes a moment to appreciate it. I ordered a medium hot mocha there and came up with my own art request through an app called Ripples where you can upload any picture or some sort of imaginary for the top foam. It'll connect automatically to the machine at the counter there and the barista will approve it. I absolutely love it and couldn't stop staring at it for a while. I even ordered maple waffles along with my cup of mocha in order to fill in my empty stomach. Although, the owner already warned me in advance that it'll take a while so I acknowledge that. It did took a while but I was fully aware of that warning and waited patiently for about 30 minutes on my food. I was not disappointed at all when it came to that kind of dish from there either. It was freshly being made in a good timely manner with fresh blueberries and bananas on the top. Plus, the creamy syrup made it more delicious on the waffles! This is now my new favorite cafe on the island. The vegan breakfast burrito was probably one of the BEST Breakfast Burrito I have EVER HAD! The sauce was epic too! Layered guacamole with some salsa and a bit of spice. Wow! The staff here are the definition of Aloha, so friendly, genuine and kind. The coffee here is so flavorful, you know they put lots of joy and knowledge into the roasting process. As I walked in, roasting was happening and the smell was like heaven! I also had the poi banana bread and it was delicious! Moist and perfectly baked. Lucky for me I had leftovers that I'm having for breakfast at home this morning while I write this review. What drew me to his business was finding out that he roasts his own coffee! How cool is that? That means that all the coffee he's serving is fresh. Pretty sure everything here is fresh. As I was ordering I even noticed the chef in the back cooking up some delicious looking gyros and burritos. I decided to take a break from work and take a quick break to get out of the house and grab some fuel for the long day ahead. There is a pay-to-park, parking lot across from this shop but luckily I found street parking not too far away (since when did the meter parking get so expensive?!). Luckily for those one the go or being in downtown, those on their way to work, this shop does online orders and delivery. I ordered an americano, and pastrami sandwich for the boyfriend. An acai bowl for my sister, and a pumpkin pie latte, and very english breakfast muffin for myself. My sister and boyfriend said that what they got was great! Love love love this place! Found it on yelp. I am a coffee junkie and a sucker for coffee art. They are located downtown and when I pulled up, on a Saturday, there were a few free spots out front and a paid parking lot right next door. They don't validate parking so hope a spot is open. There is a cute table and chairs set up outside and the doors were open. When I walked in I was warmly greeted by a girl at the counter. She was excited to tell me about how the coffee art worked when I had asked. Charles the owner said the coffee art works on any drink that has milk, so I got a latte. Charles went to work on my latte and the girl at the counter had me airdrop a photo from my phone to them and then she sent the image to the coffee art machine. Bish bosh boom...I had an amazing latte with the cutest coffee art. It was so perfect I didn't want to drink it and ruin it but I got over that quick when the coffee craving kicked in and wow, what a great latte. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend them. Switched up my morning coffee stop today since it's a holiday. I've never been here before so we had to use GPS which took us to the right spot. Local Joe is located in downtown across pier 13 by a huge parking lot. Parking wasn't hard to get, considering it was a holiday. From outside it looked super busy, but people made their orders quickly. When I got to the cashier, I told her it was my first time, and asked for a recommendation of whatever was iced and popular. I ended up getting a large Vietnamese cold brew. I didn't know exactly how it would taste or look like. But when I waited for my order, they would just call out the names of the drink. I waited for about 5 mins. It would've helped if they asked for names to use to call out instead, bc I had no idea what my drink was gonna look like and if anyone else before me had ordered this too. Anyway, customer service wasn't too bad, but a smile and a thank you would've been nice to receive while ordering and picking up my order. The cold brew itself was delicious and refreshing. It was strong enough and not sweetened too much with the condensed milk. It's roast was strong enough to give you that coffee kick you would need on a tiring day. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Servers were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 stars. Reasonable price, good coffee, and pleasant vibes. The workers were super nice even as I stood confused about what to order, and spent even longer deciding whether to order food or now. I ended up just getting a small Vietnamese cold brew. It was pretty strong and kept me jittery on Friday afternoon. It had a nice, familiar sweet and slightly bitter, almost nutty taste. It definitely had less of the bitter coffee taste that I kind of like in Vietnamese coffee, and which I probably could've gotten a few blocks up the road, but regardless this was very tasty and I wouldn't haven chosen anywhere else to go on on a too-long Friday. Service: 5/5 When we first walked in, the owner welcomed us and said hello. The lady who took our order was super sweet, she was helpful as it was my first time there and also accommodated to using my reusable huskee cup to put my ice latte in. I had a few other questions to ask her about the chinatown area and she wasn't moody or unhelpful in assisting me. Food/Drinks: 5/5 I ordered the ice vanilla latte and my friend ordered a typical iced coffee latte drink with their LOX bagel. The ice vanilla latte hit the spot, it wasn't too watery or too milky and just the right balance of coffee taste. My friend who is more of a coffee expert also enjoyed her coffee drink and said this is definitely one of the better ones she's had. Also she enjoyed her LOX bagel because the one at Local Joe's uses a special kind of spreed and the ingredients they use taste super fresh (we're pretty sure they source their ingredients locally).
