I don't leave many reviews unless im really impressed by the service and the food. My wife and I came to local kitchens around 630 last night. The restaurant was busy and it took a few minutes for us to be able to order. A employee named Gus explained to me how everything works and recommended Nash and proper. He warned me about the heat levels and how hot they get. I chose the tenders and they were terrific. My wife had the chicken bowl and she loved it. We will definitely be back.. I had never been to a "kitchen" set up to make food from a handful of different restaurant menus, but the process was super easy (self touch screen ordering), the staff was kind and helpful, and the food was crazy good (we got two Señor Sisig burritos of varying spice levels with tofu and the garlic parm fries--which were especially outstanding). The food is the same quality and taste as a mall food court. The sushi is just ok. It taste like sushi you get from Safeway (which isn't too bad). The chicken tikki masala was a little on the sweet side and spicy. The naan has a hint of mint from the spices that's on it. The tomato soup was just ok and the grilled chicken bowl was also just ok. The milk bar pie tastes like the middle (sweet) part of a pecan pie without the pecans. It's a good concept if you want different types of food and my order was correct but like I said it's the quality and taste of mall food. I absolutely love this local kitchen idea! Multiple food vendors sharing a kitchen to provide several choices for their consumers, all in one place. Yes, we waited for a while, but totally worth it. We were able to order from like 3 different places and taste a little bit of everything. I was excited for the Filipino dish. I ordered the tocilog burrito and it was delish! Craving satisfied! We also ordered Mac and cheese (my pregnant sis-in-law liked it more than I did--thought it was basic Mac and cheese, nothing special) we also ordered the chicken with fries from the chicken place. It was also delicious--something different. Sorry I forgot the names of the places we ordered from, but there was a wide variety of cuisine that they served. I will def be coming back next time I visit Sacramento! I highly recommend you check this place out, especially since u can get more than just 1 cuisine! With so many different options, you really can't beat the convenience of this place. The melt is delicious, but we especially love Nash and Proper. I loved coming here because Nash and Propers Cauliflower Sandwich was literally to die for. Since I don't like chicken, this was one of my favorite places for me and my husband (who loves chicken) to eat. A unique place. Its identity is in its lack of identity, giving you the options for anything, really. Love that they have local stuff from places around town. Ordered from a machine when no one else was in line so it felt weird and impersonal, but they kinda had to do that because there are so many options. Drinks were just cans and bottled water for $2/pop. A let down. Quick service and nice folks. It felt cold, like a cafeteria, which was not the ambiance I was hoping for, but it did the trick. Would I go back? I wouldn't be opposed but I also wouldn't choose it on my own. Did not know this was a restaurant hub. Very good idea. All the food we ordered was delicious. I love the variety options...I bought a Sushirrito, chicken fries, and my wife got a beef dish from one of the other vendors, which she really liked. The service was really good...we had a double take at the door because we were looking for the Sushirrito restaurant. The employees waved at us and waved us in (knowing folks might be confused by not understanding the setup). They walked us through how to order from multiple vendors in the restaurant. This was my first expierence at Local Kitchens. I had a steak patty melt with seasoned fries. The meat was not flavorful, it was incredibly greasy, I had grease streaming down my hands. The meat did not have any seasoning and the fries stated seasoned salt on the description, however, they it had this green seasoning that had zero flavor. It took 20 minutes to get my food during the 1PM hour, they had only three other people in there and all of them already had their food. Not sure why it took so long to make a sandwich. The fries were also soggy and stuck together. Overall it was pretty disgusting and low quality. This was $19 down the drain, I will not return and sadly would do not recommend. read more

The only place I know of where you can order sushi burrito, indian tikka masala burrito, and filipino sisig burrito in the same order. The service is excellent, the food is great and ordering is easy we'll definitely be back for the tosilog burrito, ube horchata, mango amazake, and the cornflake ice cream! Where do I start...at first I thought it was a cool idea to put a few different restaurants under one roof. Cool concept, albeit possibly difficult to logistically make all the food to standard. As a hot chicken sandwich connoisseur, I have developed a deep rooted love for Nash and Proper. To the point that I've developed a Pavlovian response to the mere mention of the name. Anyway, when I saw that Nash and Proper was at Local kitchens in Roseville, I thought it was awesome! ...And then i went in. It starts out with an experience completely devoid of human interaction. You order on an iPad at the front of the store, not talking to a soul. Then the tip screen defaults to "18, 20, or 25%". Now, I'm a generous tipper when it is earned. Tips are something that I enjoy giving for excellent service. However, at this place I didn't even talk to a person up to this point, and having watched the staff merely call out a name and hand food to people, I did not feel any compulsion to give a tip. As you move forward through the payment process, you discover that a 5% "living fee" is charged to you, the customer, without any option to opt out and no forewarning. Again, I am ALL FOR tipping generously, and do often, but in a case like this, pay your workers a liveable wage and don't add it as a separate charge on the customer's bill. After paying, you have no option for a paper receipt. Call me old fashioned, but I keep my paper receipts. Finally on to the food. The nash and proper was just ok. I ordered the hottest heat level, which in the past has caused great amounts of pain and suffering in me, and which I was eagerly looking forward to. However, the sandwich barely made my mouth tingle, and even that is being generous. The lettuce on my pregnant wife's burger was entirely wilted and disgusting. I expected more out of a cool concept such as this. And finally, when she asked for a cup of water, they walked to the sink and filled a cup for her. To top it all off, there are stock boxes and refrigerators filling the sparse sparse common eating space which seemed very unprofessional. This one experience turned me off from coming back here. There was a lot of potential and maybe in the future that potential will be improved upon. All that to say, my wife said the cheddar bacon fries were alright. read more

Came here on Saturday, March 19 a little after opening and there was already a short line. I came here to try the Senor Sisig. Upon entering they have tablets where you can place your order, this is where I ordered. I really wanted to get the Ube Horchata but it was unavailable. We decided to dine in. The wait time for our order took forever. I noticed those who ordered online received their order faster. While waiting for our order, I was on the local kitchen app and kept refreshing in hopes the Ube Horchata would be available. There is a screen where you can see your name and the status of your order. Finally, the Ube Horchata became available and I quickly placed two orders. Once our order was ready, I was happy to see that the drinks came together with the food even though I ordered it so late. We ordered Tofu w/ Adobo Rice. The tofu tasted great but the rice was lacking flavor, it seemed like garlic rice to me and was hoping for a more adobo taste. We also got the Tosilog Burrito which was delish. Lastly, we got the Ube Horchata and this tasted like regular Horchata, I did not really get an Ube flavor yet it was still good anyways. The concept is not for me, but it may be for you. The food was hit or miss, but here is my honest review. This concept is made for the Door Dash age and really caters to grab and go. It's like a cafeteria-esq setting where you place your own order in a kiosk and wait for your name to be called to pick up your brown bag. The Staff: The staff was pleasant although your interaction is limited. They did forget our drinks, but quickly cleared it up. The food: We ordered and tired a few items including the Samwhich from Nash and Proper, the cheeseburger, fries, and Mac and Cheese from The Melt. The Samwhich was bad. The chicken was rubbery and something was off with it. The bread and slaw were good, but ultimately we opted not to eat more than 2 bites and just threw it away. The burger was good, but more of a knife and fork than a two hander. The garlic fries were good, a little dry, but full of flavor. The Mac and cheese was real good. We liked the big noodles. The drink options are limited to a few cans of soda. I won't go back, but hopefully there is enough information for you to make up your own mind. read more
