We are a fan of Local on North and frequent them often. I wanted to take a moment and give a review from our experience last night. If I could give 10 stars, I would. From making the reservation with Eric to closing out our tab with our amazing server Aquila. Everything was amazing. This comes from them taking fantastic care of our party of 22. Aquila was attentive, friendly and professional. She is a wonderful addition to their staff. All the food was delicious. We sampled the goat cheese croquettes, wings, bang bang shrimp and bruschetta. My blue burger was just wanted I wanted and the Brussels sprouts are better than dessert. Thank you for a wonderful evening and you will see us again. read more

Service was good and was seated quickly. Food was average. Ordered the Cajun wings and they were so dry with hardly any seasoning. Shrimps were very tiny for the bang bang shrimp with not much sauce. read more

Visited on a Friday night restaurant was full so advise making a reservation. Service was very good, attentive and fast for a business evening. Drink drink menu with some really unusual blends had 3 different drinks all very good. For dinner we had grilled shrimp tacos, double stacked burger, mussels and blacken snapper. I went there with my husband and my dad last Friday. We had such a hard time locating the restaurant so we had to call them to find out where it was. The restaurant is across from the bbq place. Once we got there, I realized how packed it was. Luckily a table opened up so we got seated within 10 mins. The restaurant is super cute but I felt like it is just too crowded. They placed as many tables as possible so there is almost no personal space. We ordered linguine and clams, hot fix pizza, and some fish dish (I wish I remember the name!) The food was alright but I felt like it was overpriced for the food that we got. Also they do not give any complimentary bread or anything. Their beer was pretty pricey as well. A new(ish) location in the Duluth downtown area with great service and excellent food. Arrived around 630 on a Saturday evening with a 645 reservation. There were some open tables so we were sat early at a table that had the sun glaring on my wife like a spotlight. I didn't mind, because it wasn't me and that's what marriage is about, right? But the manager noticed and asked us if we'd like to change tables since others were available at the time ... which we gladly accepted. Ordered the daily catch, the Skate filet with Peruvian potatoes and shrimp. The plate was delicious and well worth the price. It was definitely trumped by the dessert, however. No offense to the entree, but the dessert was one of the best that I've had in a long time. The lady and I sat in silence for about 3 minutes until it was gone. I believe that's how you judge the quality of a dish; by the amount of talking during the time that you are eating. The total damage was just under $100 before tip for 2 drinks, 2 entrees, and a dessert, but was well with it. read more

New Place in the up and coming area of Duluth! Wow....this place is in full explosion mode!!!!which makes this place kind of nice. It is intimate. So, if you are looking for loud, noisy, and cheap food do not go here. If you want quiet (quieter), excellent fare (hat off to the chef) and a great glass of wine or local brew this is your stop. Local on North, meaning everything is locally grown (meat,cheese,vegetables,beer) and throw in a simple wine list and TA DA here you go! Tucked back in the corner which is very nice. read more

This place never disappoints. They are always friendly and welcoming. We have had Jessica as our server several times, including this evening. She is as sweet as can be. The good is great. This is a nice little place in the Duluth walking area, and it is very popular as all of the eateries and attractions are. The food was good. Our party of 4: two had the salmon dish, which was plentiful, hot and very tasty and moist. One of our party had an onion soup, which was flat out not good. One of our party had a special skirt steak and it was delicious, though a little pricey for a cinco de mayo holdover. Why not five stars? We deliberately made an early reservation, but were being rushed out after less than an hour "because we have more reservations." I know turning tables is important, but the check arrived unbidden while we were still eating. Other than that the service was good. One other annoyance i did not complain about. I got the Manhattan on the waitresses recommendation, and the first one was outstanding. I ordered a second just before dinner, and it came with the same orange peel in it, and no cherry, as I had eaten the first one. It was also a weak drink. I think they should start with a fresh glass when I get a second drink. Will i go back? Our party voted no. Btw. We stayed for an hour and fifteen minutes, most reasonable, and tipped over 20%. read more

Saw this place so my friend and I gave this place a rltry. We split some wings as an app, and they were pretty good. They had sweet n spicy thing going on that complimented the butter milk ranch sauce. I had the RKO Burger and my friend had their bleu cheese burger ( i forgot the name). We split our burgers so we could try both. I like the RKO Burger better, to be fair im not a big fan of bleu cheese. Will definitely come back for their brunch or dinner to try other things on the menu. They have special dishes that are not on the menu too. read more

I've been here twice and have really enjoyed the food here both times. It's a bit on the pricey side so I'm unlikely to come regularly but overall it was good. For my app, I ordered a delicious goat cheese croquette which came with a tomato based sauce. The outer shell was crispy, not too oily, and provided a crunchy texture to the dish. The tangy cheese paired really well with the sauces. Unfortunately, it's only one cheese ball so I was savoring it for as long as possible. I will definitely go back just for that. Luckily it was one of the cheaper apps on their menu. I also ordered the braised lamb shank which sat on a bed of white beans, spinach, and potatoes. It was a large sized portion and pretty good. I wouldn't say there was anything unique or special about the dish but if you're craving some braised lamb, it is a solid choice. We came on a Sunday evening so they had a band playing outside. Good music but if you're looking for a quiet night out for some intimate conversation this may not be the place. Also, not sure how long they will have the band out as the weather gets colder. We sat inside but they had one of the sliding overhead doors opened so we could enjoy the band but it also let all the cold air in so you may want to bring a jacket! read more

I called in an order the night for the Tuna burger and Courtney took my order. Courtney was soooooo sweet and such a joy to talk to over the phone and once I arrived to pick up my order!! Let me tell you all about this good tuna burger though. It was AMAZING! The flavors are indescribable! Once you bite into the tuna burger, you will understand what I mean. We stopped in to Local North on a quiet weeknight during Spring Break -- excited to try an upscale new local spot. There were six to 7 tables in use and the rest of the place was empty. Two servers, a bartender, and a manager were taking care of guests. Service: The manager came from the bar area to the hostess area to greet us right away and led us to our table. The restaurant is relatively small, so it seemed easy for him to shift roles, including expediting food from the kitchen. Our server started off very solid, arriving quickly, going thru the specials, and returning quickly to take our order. Once our food arrived, we were promptly forgotten about. For example, we sat for 7-10 minutes with empty glasses. Since she literally couldn't turn around without seeing the status of our table, this was frustrating. The manager spent most of his time chatting with people at the bar. Eventually he moved to chat with the people at table next to ours, so his behind was almost literally in my face for 10 minutes while we waited for drink refills (and eventually our check) Food: I had the RK burger with bacon. The bun was very nice...soft and toasted with pretty grill marks on top. Awesome tomato jam added great flavor. Once I took a bite, I realized my burger was well done and the server hadn't asked about the desired temp. Turns out, they use two thin patties (perfectly round), so medium well/well is the norm. I get that, but the burgers were dry. I asked if the patties were fresh or frozen -- the server said "they should be fresh." Hmmm. My husband had the veggie risotto special, which was tasty and chock full of veggies, but the tomatoes and asparagus both seemed unripe and lacked flavor. Also, it didn't have that creamy texture you would expect. The decor and setup of the venue is great, and since it is only 9 weeks new, we'll hope that this was just an "off" night and maybe try again in a few weeks. read more

We absolutely love Local on North. They are really good at being safe during covid. Seating is limited, but so very comfortable. Their salads are so delicious and a great start to a meal. I love the Cesar salad, but I've heard they are all so good. Their menu changes here and there based on what's in season, but I've never been disappointed. Their flatbread pizzas are incredible and so are the soups. I would try anything here! read more
