When you walk in, it smells yummy from the waffle cones! There are lots of flavors to choose from and all sound really good--matcha, sherbert, and black cherry were some that stood out. However, as someone who can't have dairy, I appreciated that there was also strawberry lemonade sorbet and a vegan vanilla. I got the strawberry lemonade sorbet and had no regrets! The flavor was great and my favorite part of the sorbet was all the strawberry chunks inside! The place had a handful of people in line when we arrived and when we left but service was quick even with only two staff members. There are a couple picnic tables and benches to sit at to enjoy your ice cream, and 10/10 I would recommend stopping for a scoop! read more

Ice cream is fine. Almost generic. It's August 1, 4:50 and I could not have received the worse customer service. If anyone has ever been to an ice cream shop there's multiple varieties of the same flavor. With that being said I enter the shop it's empty-- I ask her where I should go to order, she said it doesn't matter. I told her I'm looking for something strawberry as I spot the first strawberry flavor and I'm point at it but still scanning maybe there's a strawberry shortcake or cheesecake or chocolate chip-- and she said "well it's right in front of you" I said --um, okay I'll have that, and she continues to stare at me and then says fast -- scoop cone cup double single which one? And it takes me a second but I got it said okay-- and I start to just look around the counter to see if there's a sample of what this things she said to me would look like-- and I pointed and I said this one, please. We had been to the store in Bishop, and the one in June Lake, so had to complete the Eastern Sierra ice cream trilogy we had started! We came in the evening, and the line was out the door. Fortunately, it moved fairly quickly, and we had our ice cream before we knew it. After getting lavender twice, I decided to try the banana chocolate chip, which was very good, but the lavender is still better IMO. They have a few tables outside facing the main road and we got a seat there to just hang out and enjoy our ice cream. The ice cream was delicious and the location was very clean. The only reason I'd give it three stars is due to the customer service we received. The lady who helped us out wasn't friendly and just seemed like she didn't really want to help us out. I'd probably try another ice cream place next time. read more

Flight was bigger than I expected! Loved the Speculoos flavor. Toffee Coffee flavor was also good. Raspberry Sorbet was tart but refreshing. Employee was very busy but had a great attitude. Small dining area, but has outside seating. read more

We have been on an ie cream kick lately. Handels just came to Reno where I live and I wasn't expecting Local Scoop to be as good as Handels, but it was even better! The flavors were very good and balanced. I liked the ability to get a flight, even though the flights were super messy they were a great way to try all of the different types of ice cream that Local Scoop offers. There was a line when we went, so I can't say I am the first to find this place truly amazing. There isn't really inside seating, and the outside seating is just two picnic tables. With how good this place is, they should be there the next time you are in Mammoth. Give them a try, I know you will like it. Also, SO cool that they offer a free lactaid!!! GENIUS!!! The prices are a little steeper than some places and a little less than other places I have been, but the quality of the ice cream was very good in my opinion. My favorite was the Black Raspberry Chocolate. But the lemon one was really good too. All in all my wife and I tried 13 different flavors over the two times we went. We came here Thursday night around 8 pm and it was very busy. There was only one girl working, with a huge group of about 10 people in front of us, our group of four, and two couples behind us. We were very patient and used the wait time to fully decide what we wanted, especially since there's a huge variety of flavors and options. I really felt for her having to handle the rush alone and understand how overwhelming that must have been. Once she finished with the large group, my boyfriend ordered a milkshake and she loudly exhaled in frustration and gave him a look, which caught all of us off guard. It was uncomfortable, especially after being patient and ready to order. Because of that reaction, the rest of us kept our orders very simple and just got ice cream. Flavor wise, the mud pie was the group favorite, and I got the coffee ice cream which I really enjoyed. It is a bit on the pricey side, but I did enjoy trying a new ice cream spot in Mammoth. She was kinder by the time we were paying, and again, I truly understand the stress of working solo during a rush. Overall, the ice cream itself was really good and I appreciate how hard she was working during such a busy night. While the service moment was a bit uncomfortable, this felt like an experience that landed somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. read more

Very nice selection of flavors and exceptionally nice service. I asked for a root beer freeze off menu and they blended one up for me without a fuss. Even had free lactase for the lactose challenged. Nice touch! Great patio seating under some shady trees. read more

Quite literally the ONLY good food spot in Mammoth!! AND I'd give it a 5/5 because we will be visiting again. So yummy and they let you try any flavor! ok so despite the crazy line we waited on for this, it was amazing!!! Shoutout to the girls manning the counter as they were hustling to get everyone their ice creams as quickly as possible. This place is super cute. Very decorated in an ice cream theme. They have larger than life jimmies along the wall and counter. Bright complementary colors that bring on all the happy nostalgia that a scoop shop should. Their logo is so amazing and perfect for an ice creamery in Mammoth. In terms of the ice cream they have many of the typical flavors you would look for and expect but some fun ones thrown in. I was so excited to see they had a lemon poppyseed as I had not found this elsewhere. It was absolutely true to taste. I ultimately opted for a shake since we would be walking back to our hotel two blocks over. They will let you mix flavors for the shakes. I combined the lemon poppyseed with their speculoos(cookie butter) and it was incredible. Still getting all the lemony poppyseed goodness with just a hint more of the butter baked good sweetness from the cookie butter. Can't wait to go again on my next trip! read more

Lindsey was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. She truly made our experience enjoyable. We came in on June 29, around 4:00 p.m. Unfortunately, there was another young blonde employee who wasn't as friendly. My son accidentally placed his spoon in one of the cone sample trays, and she visibly showed her frustration and made a comment about the mistake. It was clear she wanted us to know it was an issue, even though it was an innocent accident. Her reaction made my son feel really bad, and it was upsetting to see a child made to feel embarrassed over something so minor. If it hadn't been for Lindsey's kindness, we probably would have left because we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. Employees like Lindsey make all the difference, and I hope the shop hires more people with her warmth and compassion. Other than that experience, this easily would have been a 5-star visit. The shop itself is adorable, the ice cream flavors were great, and we really enjoyed everything else. I just hope every family is made to feel as welcome as Lindsey made us feel. read more
