These are the toughest reviews because I experienced both highs and lows. This is made more difficult because I have to judge solely based on this one place. I've been here three times, once just for drinks and twice for dinner with friends. Been also to Downtown location. Came here first after work, after an event at Blackrock, which is the building where they are located. I had a nice drink, and the hostess was kind enough to recharge my phone, which I appreciated--especially since it's not guaranteed, especially if I don't have my own charger. The next two times, I came for my own and my friends' birthdays in quick succession. I chose it because I like the downtown location and was looking for a place with outdoor seating that could accommodate getting to and from Hoboken and could bring our dog. Food, in general, was good enough for a 4-star review. Three issues occurred. One was that the food was out. The eggplant parm was ordered but then waiter came back out a few minutes later saying they were out. Bad enough out especially at 745 but staff should have known. Second visit we asked for some cheese to accompany the prosciutto and told they could do parm and expected to get chunks of parm but got already shreaded which makes no sense. Lastly and this was issue both visits as got slow service. This meant our entrees came out lukewarm at best as either sat at pass for awhile or bad kitchen coordination until all dishes done. One person just tossed there remainder due to that. Rabbit during first was also not warm and that dish should keep it's heat. Onto service as I can appreciate casual pace of meal as nice not to be rushed but do want to get things when wanted especially if have wine chilling and glass is empty. One time they seemed to misplace wine as waiter had to go inside to I guess ask where someone put it. We joked with our waiter Kevin about Service if staff was watching world cup match. He seemed to admit that before realizing that is not good and changing answer. Kevin was friendly as shared picture of his dog but like to get quicker sevuce. I will likely give them one more chance especially if do restaurant week due to reason we came as nice pet friendly restaurant. Inside is gorgeous as like fireplace and plenty of outdoor seating. Hope they can bring in some traditional desserts like affagoto or tiramesiu. Best desert was simplest of the birthday one. No Pictures though some dishes were worthy. read more

One of my new favorite go-to spots! I love both the Tribeca and Hudson Yards locations. The Tribeca location has a great brunch vibe, while Hudson Yards feels a bit more polished and perfect for dinner. The lamb pappardelle and sheep's milk ricotta are absolutely delicious. The drinks are excellent too . The gnocchi was another standout--probably the lightest, most melt-in-your-mouth gnocchi I've ever had. Service has been top-notch on every visit, and it's also a very kid-friendly restaurant, which is a huge plus for us. Looking forward to coming back again! read more

Grabbed a reservation for a weekend lunch. On arrival we were asked to wait for about 10 minutes after which we were taken to our seat. The service was friendly and our food came out relatively quick. We got the eggs benedict, scrambled eggs, and a side of potato. I liked the eggs benedict though we found the eggs could've used a little more flavor. Side of potatoes were our favorite. Turning 30 in New York City felt magical, and celebrating my golden birthday at Locanda Verde, Robert De Niro's stunning restaurant in Hudson Yards, was truly unforgettable. We started the night with a beautiful bottle of wine before diving into the most perfect steak tartare and sheep's cheese--simple, rich, and absolutely divine. For my entrée, I had Grandma's Ravioli, the kind of dish that tastes like warmth, comfort, and pure luxury all at once. And then... dessert heaven They surprised me with a special birthday treat AND we indulged in the maple budino, which was honestly life-changing. I'd been to Chef Andrew Carmellini's "The Dutch" restaurants about 10 years ago... in both New York City, and at a second location in Miami (close to home at the time). And the memories are great. So when we recently had a meal to plan in NYC, and were staying near Hudson Yards, it seemed like a sure sign that we should visit Carmellini's Locanda Verde restaurant. And we loved every minute! We visited on a cold Tuesday night in mid-December. The holiday décor was beautiful. And while the room was packed, the service was prompt and friendly yet professional. My cocktail, a tequila concoction called "La Sporcarita" hit the spot, despite the cold temps outdoors. My wife and I shared a delicious Insalata d'Andrea, featuring Arugula, Apple, Almond, and Asiago. Next, I devoured my plate of Chitarra Nero, with Hot Buttered Crab, Chili Calabrese, and Bottarga. Meanwhile, my wife loved "My Grandmother's Ravioli". We read how it's made with ultra-thin squares of pasta wrapped around a traditional filling of beef, veal, pork and a touch of Parmigiano-Reggiano... and prepared fresh for *every* service. Apparently, it is a classic Carmellini dish - and now we know why. All around, a great visit. Service, food and ambiance were great! We walked in on Sunday after for brunch with no reservations and the hostess asked if we wanted to start off at the bar first while we waited for our table. There was 5 of us and we all chose a different cocktail and let me tell you one of the best we had. The bartender was kind of enough for letting us record for our TikTok and he was giving us a show! Love it. When we were seated our server Danny was just amazing!! We partied the night before and depended on each other to pick a dish but Danny said " let me start from the top of menu" and from there we took all his recommendations and they were the best! First, the service was full of microaggressions - they saw we were four Asian girls and deliberately seated us at a tiny, cramped table despite having made reservations a week in advance. Only after we complained did they move us to a better window seat for four. (What, are four Asians embarrassing for your all-white upscale restaurant?) Then came the most outrageous part - while eating my salad, I discovered a live bug crawling around on my plate. I demanded that someone from the kitchen come apologize, but they refused. They only sent their poor server to apologize and offered us pancakes as compensation. But I said I didn't want pancakes - I wanted whoever washes the vegetables to come apologize! I've been to Locanda Verde many times and often bring business contacts there, but I'm consistently shocked by how rude the host staff can be. Today at 11:20 AM, the restaurant was nearly empty. I came in for lunch with my 80+ year-old parents and politely asked for a table in the shade. Despite plenty of shaded tables being available, the hostess twice tried to seat us directly in the sun and then disappeared inside to "check availability." It was dismissive, unnecessary, and frankly rude. Good food does not make up for poor hospitality. read more

We enjoyed the striped bass crudo (a special of the night but hopefully they add it to the menu), the focaccia, the cauliflower with anchovies, the lobster pasta, and the espresso affogato dessert (we got it with decaf). When you come to a restaurant solely for one dish (Chitarra Nero) then find out after being seated that the dish was replaced by another similar-ish literally the day before... :( Walked in when they opened at 5 on a Thursday. We sat at the bar and the bar filled up pretty quickly 20ish minutes in. The interior is beautiful and overall my meal was decent and not a bad choice in Hudson Yards since there aren't many good restaurants in this area. The cocktail I ordered was okay (Cappelletti Fizz) and the Blue Crab Crostino was not worth $28. The bread it came on tasted like it was out for a bit/premade and then they just put some crab on top of it before serving. The bread service was infinitely better than this and I would not recommend ordering the Crostino. My boyfriend enjoyed the Lamb Meatball Sliders though and this was an enjoyable bite. For our entrees, since I couldn't order the Chitarra Nero I ordered the replacement dish (waiter assured me similar taste but different presentation) which was a crab ravioli dish. The ravioli were filled nicely with a lot of crab meat and wasn't a bad pasta dish. My boyfriends Lamb Pappardelle was delicious and highly recommend this from their pasta selections. Locanda Verde Hudson Yards is a gorgeous restaurant, to start. We had a reservation on a Wednesday evening, and good thing because the place was packed. We sat at a comfortable table as a group of 4. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions. We shared the Panzanella salad which was great but they were stingy on how much salad you actually received. I had the Garganelli pasta which had summer corn and was a bright summer entree. Honestly, all of the pastas looked great, We had the glazed carrots on the side which were a nice complement to the entree. For dessert, we shared the corn budino (a salty and sweet masterpiece) and the Pistachio cake, less exciting but still good. I'm not a pistachio lover so I'm a bit bias here. I had the Sun and Tonic to drink, which is their take on a gin and tonic, which was much more sweeter and refreshing than a standard G&T. The noise level in the restaurant was pretty loud and the tables are pretty close together. Our server seemed overwhelmed and it sometimes took him a while to get to us. He kept apologizing profusely about the long wait times. The restaurant seemed understaffed with servers that evening. I'm not sure if I saw any other server downstairs except for him. There is an upstairs but we did not go up there so I am unsure how large the top floor is. There are bathrooms on both floors. The food presentation and quality was outstanding and while this is an expensive meal, the quality makes it worth it. This is definitely a restaurant I will come back to! read more

3.5 stars I had been a fan of Locanda Verde for years and had been to the original, Tribeca location several times. So, I was excited to learn that they had opened another space in Hudson Yards, making it even more convenient for me to find an occasion on which to dine at the establishment. The other night happened to be just one of those times, and we were able to get a last minute table for an early dinner seating. We arrived and were taken to a table on the main floor, which was rather small; apparently, there was a larger, main dining room one flight up. The vibe at this spot felt more refined and upscale, while Tribeca felt more stylish and trendy; I suppose those atmospheres correspond with the neighborhoods in which the restaurants sit. Our server, who I believe was named Guillermo, was very nice and extremely professional. He brought over a plate of well-spiced, fluffy focaccia bread and took my companion's drink order. I was sticking with water that night, but tried a sip of his Wave Table Hazy IPA from Grimm, which was crisp and refreshing. While I sat out that round, he skipped an appetizer, as I sampled the Spanish Mackerel Crudo with Green Olive. The fish had been sliced sashimi-style, and I had hoped it would have had more of a smoky flavor. Unfortunately, I found it very fishy instead. For my main course, I selected the Spaghetti Luciana, which included braised octopus and fresh oregano in a light tomato sauce. The pasta was perfectly cooked, but the octopus was a bit hard. The pieces were largely the ends of tentacles, so there was less meat to cook through; so the issue was not that the meat was chewy, but it seemed like it was overcooked on the outside, if that makes sense. I also thought there was something slightly off in the flavor of the sauce; it might have been some of the braising liquid from the octopus, but it had some sort of briny funk to it. My partner was similarly not enthusiastic about his Beef Filet with roasted porcini mushrooms, which he found just decent and way too small for $60. Despite our mixed feelings about the food at that point, we decided to give the dessert menu a once-over and wound up ordering two things. First, the Chocolate On Chocolate was like a thick mousse on top of a chocolate crust and topped with a salted gianduja. It was served with a scoop of chocolate gelato that had been covered in a hazelnut sweet cream. We both really enjoyed the ice cream, but found the cake just OK. However, our second dessert, the Grapefruit & Campari, was our favorite bite of the evening. The tart and citrusy flavor combination had first been used as a sorbet, which was then covered by a mound of shaved ice with the same taste. It was refreshing and creative. We paired our treats with rich and creamy cappuccinos, and I was thrilled to discover that they had almond milk for my mug. Sadly, our dinner at the new Locanda Verde did not live up to my admiration of their Tribeca location. I would certainly give it another shot, since I so adore the original, but I would probably be more likely to head further downtown, if convenient. read more

We had dinner at Locanda Verde on a Friday for my sister's birthday. Despite the fact that we were early, they were able to sit us in their upstairs dining room. It was really nice and cozy! Service was absolutely fantastic and we felt very well taken care of the entire night. To start, we split the Caesar Salad, the Whipped Ricotta, and Half Chicken. The apps were all great - but make sure they give you their house focaccia. It tastes absolutely fantastic with the whipped ricotta. The half chicken was juicy and so flavorful. If you're not into pasta, get the chicken. My sister and I both had the lamb pappardelle and my mom had the octopus spaghetti. I think the octopus spaghetti was the star here - I would get that next time for sure. For dessert, we had the Chocolate on Chocolate, which is a chocolate cake, and the Alpine Honey Cake. Both were fantastic, but very different flavors. The chocolate cake was one of the most decadent things I've ever had. They also gave us a mint gelato mini cake with a candle for my sister's birthday, which was super sweet. I actually really liked the mint gelato and would gladly eat more of it. read more

Although, while it is slicker in certain aspects, with a larger menu than Tribeca, it does not have the same vibe as the original. I'm sure the vibe will come as it matures and starts to get some regulars. Having said that, the food, service and ambiance are already great. Particularly like the artwork. Absolutely appalled by the way we were treated. Let me start by saying I've dined at Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and I have never been spoken to or treated the way I was at this establishment--especially not on my very first visit after spending over $300 on food and drinks. My service dog (yes, a registered service animal) was with me, as always. When we asked about outdoor seating, we were assured that having a service dog inside would not be an issue. That turned out to be a complete lie. Shortly after we got settled, an African-American woman who I believe was the manager (unfortunately, I did not catch her name) came over and immediately started with unnecessary attitude. First, she said my dog couldn't sit on a chair and had to be on the floor. Fine--no problem. I obliged, even though many high-end places I frequent allow dogs on chairs with a towel or blanket. But then, moments later, she came storming back saying, "I heard you ordered bacon for your dog. That's not allowed. If I see you feed your dog, we'll have a problem." Excuse me? I was stunned. Completely speechless. The tone, the delivery, the condescension--utterly unacceptable. Who speaks to customers like that? Especially ones who made a reservation, followed every rule, and spent hundreds of dollars? She made it very clear she didn't want us there and wasn't going to treat us with even the bare minimum of respect. We then asked if we could be moved outside--maybe then it would be okay for the dog to eat there? She looked us straight in the face and said, "Not even outside." Let that sink in. Not even outside on the sidewalk. I have never heard anything more absurd. When I calmly asked her why my service dog wasn't allowed to eat a small portion of food we ordered, she said, "It would bother the other guests." Mind you--there were literally three other people dining in the entire restaurant. None of them were within earshot or had even looked over at us. The only person who had an issue was her. She carried herself with this holier-than-thou attitude, as if she was doing us a favor by even letting us sit down. Then she proceeded to brag that at the "other restaurants she's worked at," she never would've allowed this kind of behavior. It was so unnecessarily smug and out of touch with reality. Her goal clearly wasn't to resolve anything--it was to exert control and make us feel uncomfortable. Mission accomplished. I have never been told by any reputable restaurant--especially those with five-star or Michelin status--that I couldn't hand-feed or serve food to my service dog from a disposable container. In fact, I've always been met with kindness and accommodation. This manager made us feel like we were doing something wrong simply by existing. The only saving grace was Robert, another manager, who was deeply apologetic and professional. He told us not to worry about the drinks or appetizers and comped the rest of our food, which we appreciated--but the damage was done. We left, feeling completely disrespected and unwelcome. This was our first time dining here and it will absolutely be our last. No guest--especially one with a service animal--should be treated the way we were. If this woman is your manager, I strongly suggest you rethink who you have representing your brand. Her attitude was beyond rude--it was downright hostile. Do not eat here if you expect basic hospitality, professionalism, or empathy. We were shocked, disappointed, and ultimately forced to leave. He really made sure to turn mine and my dogs experience around by offering for me to return to one of there locations on them for a much better experience. The moment the very handsomely dressed gentleman at the bar, gave me a free Faux Daisy I knew I was in for a very pleasant dinning experience. Let me start by giving props to the hostesses. They accommodated our mix up in who made the reservations or not, by giving us a table (which we thought we rsvp) in a very busy night. Our waitress was Cherie, mon Cherie. She was great and super informed about her menu. Very thoughtful and her service skills were en pointe. I'm touching my thumb and my index finger right now. Now for the food part of the story; The lamb slider was so juicy and tender and was accompanied by a very small house made brioche mini bun. So cute. And very very delicious My pappardelle was so fresh, the pasta so light. Chefs kiss. My friend had the Chitarra with Crab- DIVINE!! sublime. Chefs Kiss The hubby had the swordfish.
