Better known for it's ambience than food, I like going to the log cabin when I'm in the mood for something a little rustic. It's a throw-back to a simpler time, and maybe the menu reflects that. I do love the specials and the slaw. The stone staircase and fireplace are really neat and sitting next to them makes you feel like you're a part of history or a character in Tom Sawyer. It's a typical greasy spoon. Dark, dingy, tightly packed with tables. The only really good thing I had was the biscuits. I ordered the steak and eggs with hash browns. You can get a better steak at Waffle House. It was tough and paper thin with no flavor. The over medium eggs were under done and the hash browns were mediocre. I've been coming to the Log Cabin Inn (Or LCI) for all my life, my family loved coming to this quaint old cabin on the side of Madison in Independence. And why not. Went on a Saturday morning and the service was incredibly slow. The food tasted good but most of our parties meals 7 people had something on the plate that was cold. They also bought our parties food out in two shifts ten minutes apart. The servers were nice. There was no signage around masking and most people were not. Went here for dinner. It's cozy and a small town kind of feel. Lots of deep fried food. I wouldn't go in here expecting anything other than getting substance in your belly. Out of everything we ordered, I'd probably recommend people come here for the frog legs and fried green tomatoes appetizers, but that's about it. I don't want to dog on the place or dis it. They are hard working and do care about what they're doing. I wouldn't say eat here and Im not gonna say don't eat here. If you do decide to eat here, go in with a blank canvas; no expectations. One of the worst experiences in my adult life. Took my daughter and 2 year old grandson here based upon the reviews. We waited 42 minutes after ordering to see any sign of food. I came in with my boyfriend this morning to have brunch. I'd drove by this place a few times & he told me I should try it out as he has been with his family before... honestly I wasn't impressed. I had never been there so I needed a minute to look over the menu and she came back 3 times within a minute to try to take our order, surprise I still didn't know ! She asked us what we wanted to drink as we were walking to the table ... I haven't even sat down yet or looked at your menu... or set foot in this restaurant before. It's a cute restaurant but dear god our server ruined it for us. We left & got into the car & immediately looked at each other to say "was it just me or was our server really rude?" I know food service is tough, I've been there. I've worked customer service for many years, this is why I still left a decent tip, maybe she was having an off day BUT this is not how you get people to come back. Overall the food was decent. My sister and I stopped in Sunday morning around 10:30, was surprised how busy they were at that time but the wait wasn't too long, probably about 15 minutes. Service was great, food didn't take too long considering how busy they were and everything was hot, fresh and you can tell it is all made in house! We started off with fried green tomatoes appetizer, wow, they were amazing! Hard to find places that offer those so we was very excited about that. Took my dog with me to meet my folks at Log Cabin. None of us had ever been there before but decided to try it since they have a dog-friendly patio and my mom and dad wanted to see their granddoggo :-) Our waitress, Brandy, was as nice and friendly as could be towards us and Millie dog. We heard that the ribs were excellent, so we ordered them with a variety of sides as well as deep-fried mushrooms. All the food was AMAZING! It took a little effort to find this place but after 2 attempts and almost giving up, i finally found it & wondered how i kept missing it. it is in fact a log cabin, actually more like the basement of a log cabin, with it's darkly rustic features such a low door frames and exposed timbers and a modest bar to sit & enjoy a beer. the food was homey & comforting with a selection as varied & fresh; from burgers and chili to grilled liver & onions and frog legs. the service was polite and timely, the prices & portions were okay & parking good. i would not make this place a regular hangout but for an occasionally change in paste, it has it's charm and i'm interested in trying them them frog legs but i'm afraid they may make me jumpy :) read more

We actually ate here for thanksgiving. You know all the women of the family were tired of cooking. It was 12.99 a piece there was 6 of us. For what was suppose to be a buffet. The food was cold because they didn't have the burners on. So many people had to have their food warmed up by microwave. I'm still shocked about the place this was the kind of food you ate in school when it was close to thanksgiving. I'm not saying like, it was. The amount of stuff was limited they didn't even have baked beans. Rolls but no butter. The cranberry was straight out of a can It was still can shaped they didn't even bother forming it up. How lazy. I'm not sure what compelled the family to this place but it has to be one of the worst places I have ever eatten at a Chinese buffet would have been a better choice. Went for dinner on a Friday evening around 7. Took a while to get seated, and menu said they serve breakfast all day which apparently on Fri-Sat is definitely not true. So after another few minutes of waiting we finally order our food. Server was good at getting refills promptly, but appetizers we ordered were sub-par. Not much flavor and a little too greasy. Entrees came out and they were just ok. Fish was over-cooked and the BBQ sauce on my ribs was not very good. Probably won't be back. Food just didn't taste that great. This restaurant is tucked away on the outskirts of Covington, more towards Independence and Taylor Mill. It has a small bar and different dining areas for large groups and small groups. New management has taken over and added some interesting items to his menu, like frog legs, taste like chicken. If you are into Euchre, they have Euchre tournaments weekly. read more

And our review In no way reflects her service. But atmosphere is dingy and kitchen service slow. Our food took 55 minutes to get to our table. The salad was okay, but croutons were saturated with grease and burnt. The potato skins came out burnt and way overdone. We weren't charged for them but I would have never brought those to the table. There was a party of 12 that was loud and boisterous. All there orders held up everyone who came on after them. When we finally did get our food it was cold.
