We contacted three companies, including Logan Pools, and requested bids. Of all three pool companies the owner, Mike Logan, was more personable and very easy to work with. The other two reps represented larger pool companies and were just going thru the motions during the bidding process. Mike spent more time with us and was very easy to communicate with. He was always available to answer any questions and to explain the benefits of adding optional upgrades to the pool that we would never have thought of. If I ever moved and needed a pool put in, I would only have to make one call this time around. We now have grandchildren who are learning to swim and absolutely love the water. He gives you options to build your project with the highest quality materials and he doesn't cut corners. You can expect a proposal and not an estimate. Most importantly Mr. Logan really cares that you are happy with your investment. We had our entire yard built including retaining wall, pool, spa, pool deck stamped and colored concrete. It took under 5 months to build and we could not be happy with the results. Everything is top shelf, from the flagstone to the high efficiency equipment. Mr. Logan does only a handful of pools so you can reach him and he will not forget about you. I recommend getting the embedded stone plaster because it looks better and you can swim sooner after you fill it and it requires less brushing. We bought a house in Brentwood in 2020 after a few months of COVID. I really wanted a pool - but the house we ended up with didn't have one...so, decided we would put one in. I looked at various websites and contractors. I called a few - but they were sporadic in responses and not really "customer friendly", and my thought was if this is how they were with a potential new client...how would they be later on? Then I stumbled upon Mike Logan. Mike lives in Brentwood. He does service a chunk of the East Bay. However, from his website and videos, I saw a person who wrote books on his area. A man who has 30+ years of experience in this business. A man who served in the military and believes in quality. So, I called the number on the site and spoke with him. And he let me know that his dance card was full, and to try back in February. He'd take my name down and then we would talk then. My wife wanted something a little sooner - but I trusted Mik and truly believed that he was about quality. In February, we spoke and he could fit me in. Then came the fun part! Designing our pool! What features did we want? Did we want a jacuzzi? Waterfalls? Tiles and color? And there is this thing called prism matrix that works so nicely on your feet. So many choices - what do you want YOUR dream pool to look like and what can you fit under your budget. Mike then takes those ideas and puts them in a 3-D video and shows how it would look in your backyard (I think this is his favorite part as well...designing a pool). After that you get a quote and then once the paperwork is signed, your pool starts. Now, in 2021 there were a lot of supply shortages and price increases - but Mike took care of those (our stated price did not change) and while there were delays - Mike was in constant communication with us and let my wife and I know how the project was going. It's been a year now, and everyone loves the pool and going for a 4 PM dip when it is 100 degrees outside. Oh, and another great thing is the Logan Lifetime Guarantee. If something is up with your pool - and something needs to be fixed - he will do that at no cost to you! This is for as long as you own your house. Now, that is a great peace of mind (and that Prism Matrix helps prevent cracks, and does feel good on the feet). We're glad we went with Logan Pools as even after our pool was finished, Mike has stayed in contact. In June, Mike sent over a present (a pool basketball set) and that was appreciated. As our 10 year old turned 11 then, we just said it was a birthday present - and PJ loves it! Mike is as professional as they come. We got multiple quotes and paid Mike for his design fee which we were happy to do. I gave Mike my ideas as well and we came up with a perfect backyard transformation. Me being a General Contractor and having decades of structural concrete experience in my background made the interview process very easy for me. Mike was the only person to even bring up increased gunite psi on raised bond beams. His rebar specs are tighter than the other builders and in this area with such shifty soil that is huge! Most people just look at price, then they complain a year later when they have a cracked pool or severely pulled away pool deck. We met multiple times and spoke in great detail as well via phone and email. There is NO OTHER POOL BUILDER around with the extensive background in pools like Mike. He uses the best most trusted and experienced sub-contractors. He's not that pool builder who only works on weekends because his sub-contractors are doing a pool on "the side." We ultimately decided to not build our pool as we will be moving out of state soon, sooner than expected luckily. However, knowing what I know about all the other very unprofessional quotes I received from well known pool builders around the area Mike is without a doubt at a whole other level of experience, professionalism and extreme detail. Talked with Logan who was very rude and dismissive. Basically said if I did not contract with him site unseen and pay him $2000 up front, he would not work with me. He told me he does not work for less than $150k per pool and I told him that is fine and was in our price range. Yet he did not seem to hear it and told me not to call and he would not support us. We started our pool building journey researching contractors and found Logan Pools on Yelp/Google. We reached out and got in contact with Mike Logan who was very responsive from the beginning. - the process started with an online survey where we got to fill out our preferences, what we wanted, reason for pool etc so Mike could get a better idea of why/what etc - next was meeting Mike Logan and for him to evaluate our space. There were many aspects that we as homeowners aren't/weren't aware of - regarding city code/where pool equipment can go etc. mike took his time and evaluated all the options and explained what would be ideal - the first real step in the pool building was process was Mike designing the pool on paper, and once approved by us, getting a 3D rendition- video and pictures for us to visualize what our pool/backyard would look like. Note: this step costs around $1000-1200 because of the time and resources used by Logan pools, and if you decide to build the pool with them, this fee is deducted from the pool cost. - after we received the videos and pictures, we gave the go ahead to start building our pool and signed a contract with the detailed products we wanted etc (floor cleaners, jets, air blower, pebble tech, cascades, lighting etc) - we did have to get landscaping done- cut trees and so forth which is not included in the pool building estimate but Mike referred us to one of his trusted contacts (and we ended up using him for a lot of our landscaping needs even after the pool building) Martin from Nice View Tree Care (did our yard, sprinkler system, paving, planting trees, fence etc after pool was done) - the whole process took about 4-6 months. There were some delays because the sub contractors were booked out - there was very little that we had to worry about in this whole process because Mike Logan was good with communicating and updating us on the ongoings, and his knowledge of the pool building process, taking charge from start to finish (all the way to the final city inspection) put us at ease. - after the pool is finished, Mike gets 1 month of pool servicing from his trusted guys to get the equipment set up and servicing - we love our new pool and are grateful for Mike and Logan pools. We decided to build a pool in 2002. We surveyed several companies including Logan Pools. We selected Logan Pools because of the in-depth presentations and explanations provided. Our satisfaction level with them was extremely high. At a couple of different points, we felt that there might be issues. We called Logan Pools and someone was dispatched almost immediately to check on our issues. In each case my concerns we're not valid. Through the entire process including the building of the pool, the decking and start-up walkthroughs, we have been totally pleased and satisfied. One of my most memorable encounters with Mike Logan occurred during the gunite pour when it was determined that the dimensions of the 'dig' had been too large. Rather than 'short-cut' the process which would have saved money for Logan Pools, Mike chose to bear the cost of pouring additional gunite which also assured stability! I am now in the process of remodeling and asked Mike to provide me with some expert counsel as I evaluated options. He has recommended that I have the work done by a company which had provided a bid to keep me in their schedule during a very busy year for plastering (also a company he uses to subcontract his work). He has at each stage helped me to select the best options for pool maintenance and value while continuing to educate me. Thus far he has refused to accept any consulting fee, certainly one of the indicators of his care for his reputation even decades after initial pool building. I'm pretty tenacious, so I'll work at finding ways to humbly express my appreciation! Logan Pools did an amazing job on our pool and rear yard hardscape. My wife and I gave them our high level ideas and photos for a guideline and they took the rest from there. Our project was complex and detailed but the workmen executed the work flawlessly. I'm coming back 4 years later after having Logan Pools build a pool for us. The event that prompts me to come here is that I called them to ask some questions about replacement pool light bulb, and as expected, they called back very promptly. Yup, after 4 years we are still enjoying our tropical pool and solar heating system that they installed for us. All the equipment is still performing well, the PebbleTech pool still looks as new as the day it was finished, and not a single crack on the concrete decks, spa or anywhere. We are so glad that we chose them. It is interesting to note that of the 4 other pool companies we considered for the job, 3 of them are out of business today. About the only issue I can remember having was last year when one of the in-ground cleaning caps broke. I'm so happy that I decided to work with Mike Logan. I interviewed 3 other popular pool companies in the area but not one of them provided the immediate attention that Mike did. Logan pools only uses truly the best people and products. Working with Mike was like dealing with a intelligent and trustworthy friend. He was incredibly professional from the first phone call, to the very end where we were sitting by the rock fire pit together bragging about my gorgeous pool! Mike was there - literally every step of the way. He personally supervises each job - meaning... he's at the project a lot! Our pool took about 8 weeks, pretty much right on target based on Mike's projections. The crux of my review - I would have paid a little more (but I didn't need to) to work with someone trustworthy like Mike who made the project affordable AND stress free. I called this guy to help me with my pool plans, others get me scheduled a month after, but this guy with his busy schedule gave me 2 days to meet him, because of my schedule I have to move it 5 days, And he said yes!
