Came here to celebrate a Friends birthday, and one thing is for sure, there are at least 1/2 dozen other Peruvian places that I can name of the top of my head that is way more authentic and flavorful than this place. I will have to admit that the service and portions are probably the saving grace for this place. Service: 5 stars Food: 1 star My order came with an egg and I asked for it over easy and it came fried hard as a rock. I sent it back and got a raw egg - sent that back too. Well if you can't get a fried egg right????!!!!!! Hmm? Note the picture of my steak had no egg bec I sent it back twice as my steak sat there getting cold! At least the waiter was pleasant. Came here with my coworker today lunch. Gt seated pretty quickly but few minutes later a group of 6 came in and there order was taken as well as there waters before us. Which I thought was a little rude blehhh but whatever.. We both had the lomo saltado lunch special for $8.95 which wasn't really bad because the portions are huge! The meal has French fries in it, kinda weird but it works well together :) Another server came and checked on us and asked if everything was good. Mage handed us the check and I swear not even 2 minutes passed, she came back and asked if our payment was ready. Ummmm it wasn't even that busy, please don't rush us. This place has some really delicious Peruvian food. I tried the cerviche sampler which was very different and full of flavor. I tried the pollo saltado - it was just the way I like it, spicy. I also tried a Peruvian ice cream which tasted more like butter scotch ice cream :) The service was incredible. My server was really on top of things. I became a fan of Peruvian food after finally trying it at a farmer's market. I was excited to try it at Lola's. I ordered the pollo saltado and it was pretty good, although I still think the stand at the farmer's market was better. In terms of decor, I think the place can stand some sprucing up. It reminded me of a cave when I went in. The further you went in, the darker it got. If it weren't for my friend taking me there, I probably wouldn't have ventured in if my only gauge was looking through the window. If I were the manager of the place, I'd also re-arrange the seating so that they place the few patrons they have by the window. That way, it looks more welcome and might possibly bring in more patrons--just a thought. read more

A groupon deal lured me to this restaurant, the food was very good but pricey. I like the interior of the restaurant which is nice and dark. The negatives were the lack of service, the waiter never came back to ask if we wanted anything else. No water offered, no offer to get another beer, and I had to ask for the famous aji verde chili sauce. At all the other peruvian restaurants I have been to the first thing they bring you is the aji verde sauce. Also, they only gave us to small finger size pieces of bread, and never asked if we wanted more. Four stars for the food and 3 stars for the service. read more

Go for the Pollo a la Brasa, Lomo Soltado, Choclo Serrano and the yuca. The chicken is so moist - way better than any rotisserie chicken you'll have at home. The lomo soltado has a nice savory flavor profile, a little bit of Asian and Latin flavors in every bite. The yuca is super crisp; and the choclo was a nice bite of creamy corn. Lunch is a good time to go since it's less crowded at that time. My mouth is watering as I type this review. How nice to have so many global flavors available in Los Angeles. read more

Worst service ever.... Me and my girlfriend wanted to try a new restaurant in downtown Glendale and we picked Lola's... the food and service was good until the bill came. We both out our cards in the bill holder to split the meal and when the waiter came back, he had only brought back my card and had charged the full bill to it. I explained to him that there were to cards and that he needed to split the bill. He made a very low effort to search for it, meanwhile the other people are starting to stare at us. The other waiter try to assist him but don't do any better than him. The owner goes up to the bar and inquires what everyone is looking for and the waiter who took our cards says that we "were claiming there were 2 cards" he then goes back to his table with no worry. The waiter approached us again saying that there was only 1 card. We explain to him slowly that there were 2 cards!! And that he had lost my friends bank card... so we ask that the owner come over. He comes over with an attitude and looking at footage from a camera on the west side of the building going over his footage to see if we were lying. By now people are looking at us thinking we're trying to skip on the meal and murmuring... which is completely humiliating. He looks over and says "see only 1 of you out your card" and I told him yes!! The person who's card is lost!! He then says we'll it was only 1 card you never placed your down!! I explained how can that be? When mine was charged? He told us maybe you gave her your card and I don't know we don't know what you did earlier... baffled and stunned and this man's ludicrous response to us I told him to look at another angle that would look over my shoulder. While doing so his partner or girlfriend says in Spanish "you know black people lie" I looked at her shocked and angry and responded in Spanish "is that so?" She shut up and finished her drink. Needless to say this is now a spectacle in this restaurant and this is beyond degrading at this point. We keep asking him why he's not looking at the footage of the waiter but still reviewing the footage to confirm we did indeed did put 2 cards down. He sees clear as day both of us placing our cards to pay. He shuts down his iPad and walks to the waiter and tells him to cancel my charge and only charge me half, still in shock I tell him are you kidding me?? You humiliated us and then your still asking us to pay??? He then tells him to cancel the transaction and goes back to his table to finish his beer. The waiter comes over and continues to say "why would I keep your card?" I tell him in Spanish no one ever said you kept a card we said you lost a card... very different Sir! Which made this whole scenario even more sketchy and suspicious. Me and my friend sat there until she was able to cancel her card and we could walk out knowing nobody would have it or use it since no one seemed to care that my friends card was lost in a matter 3 min. As we walked out the business owners table started to clap as we walked out and cheering that we left. Came here without reservation on a Friday. Took over 1 hour to get seated then after 15 minutes and still not getting a menu Me and my SO left. I didn't know it would take so long. Expect servers to just look down and ignore you when you are trying to get their attention. There was a line out the door when we went and none of the servers would come address any of us waiting. It seemed a bit awkward for those sitting near the door to have people standing over them, so after a while the BF and I went to the bar to sit and wait... something I think the wait staff should have offered (or take down names and numbers). We finally got seated (it wasn't offered, it opened up and we took it once the people in front of us were seated). The female server was definitely the one who had the "ostrich" complex of if I don't look at them they can't see me. At one point I made a comment about this to the BF just as she came by and ran away; I laughed & made a comment like "there she goes again" which I think she overheard. The bartender was a doll, though. He was busy also but at least would address us. Anyway, come the food and it was delicious. The bread basket was adorable and tasty. We both got the lomo saltado and it was different than what I'm used to, but in a good way, in my opinion. It wasn't as greasy, tasted lighter, but still a ton of flavor. They swapped french fries for mixed veggies for me, which I appreciated also. I'd love to give Lola's a higher rating because the food was great, but the service left us quite frustrated and dampened our dinner date. At the end of the night the girl came by and apologized to us and explained that it was very busy due to a show in the theater nearby. That she was sorry she "couldn't" be more attentive. I appreciated the apology but the BF wasn't amused. Before we left she gave us a complimentary alfajor which was also delicious! I would go again in hopes for better service to bump the star up again. I do agree that for Peruvian places it is a bit expensive. Food was great, service was horrible. We waited over an hour for our food. Tables that got there after us got to eat before us. When asked the server if our food was almost ready because we had been waiting for over an hour, she gave us attitude saying we were a party of 6 and it wasn't her fault. We pretty much told her to just charge us for our drinks and we were just gonna leave. She left and sent the other waiter with our food and didn't come back to our table until we were done and asked if we were ready for our check. When she brought our check, our total was around $150, we noticed they didn't charge for our drinks so we thought it was for the inconvenience. A couple of minutes later she came back blaming the other server for not charging us for the drinks. So she printed a new check which came out to be around $174. We gave her the card and when she came back we noticed that the charge was for $179. At first we thought we might have seen wrong so we asked to please print out the check again. When she came back the check she brought back was for $179 and cents but she happened to add an extra drink. We let her know. She took about 30 minutes to fix it and remove the extra drink. The total was $174 like we had seen the second time around. We will definitely not be dining in again. Take out? Yes 'cause like I said, food was great. read more

Waited forever just to be seated and once a table was available a previous customer that sat 10min prior wanted to switch tables that we were going be seated because they did not want to sit next to the door where people are constantly opening (so what make you think we would want to sit there as well??) Great food and ambiance. I usually order their steamed fish with green peppers and rice. I love the sauce they use to offset the fish and goes great with the mixture of rice and veggies. I also like order their ceviche with shrimp. My only recommendation is to work on service. They do a great job with the food however their service can be hit or miss at times. read more

The night I had dinner here with my friend, it was easygoing as it was not busy and we were seated quickly. Service was alright. The chicken entree my friend initially ordered turned out not to be available. She ordered a different entree, which was also chicken, and it was available (maybe certain ingredients were needed but unavailable for her original entree choice?). It wasn't explained, other than "they don't have it" in reference to her first choice. When I tried ordering beer, they only had one beer available. A few beer tap handles at the bar were visible from our table but our server said only one beer was available. We didn't have a poor experience but it was a letdown that my friend's first choice of entree wasn't available and that there was only one beer available. I think it's just surprising to be dining out at a restaurant and to be told things are not available. I know it's not impossible but in my experience it is uncommon or infrequent. I find it more common at a smaller place like a food truck, mall food vendor or a small business/mom and pop type of place. When I'm told something isn't available or they ran out of something, I understand and am not as surprised. That this is a sit down dining restaurant, however, and I was there in the early afternoon, not near closing time, I was surprised. It was also odd that when the server brought bread to our table, they were 2 small pieces of bread. I think it's the first time I've seen bread brought to the table when dining out and there were only enough pieces for the people seated to have one piece each. The servers kept informing us that our table would soon be ready but almost 1 hour and 45 minutes later that never happened. Recently, I went to Lola's Peruvian Restaurant with my husband to celebrate his father's birthday. I ordered the Arroz con Pollo based on reviews, but there was definitely way more Arroz than Pollo. I also didn't care for the papa a la huancaina, but if you like boiled potatoes in a cheese sauce you might like this. If you like rice you will definitely like the Arroz con Pollo. My husband ordered Bisteck A Lo Pobre which is a New York strip steak with a fried egg, fried plantain and rice. My husband ordered medium cook. His food came out later than everyone's and it was extremely rare, so he sent it back. When we were getting the check he finally got his steak which was extremely overcooked and the fried plantains were soggy. My husband didn't really get to eat with everyone because of this. He just had to get a to-go-box. The steak ended up going to our dogs. My father-in-law's wife ordered some type of seafood soup that she wanted before her entree came out after we had already gotten the check and were getting ready to leave. We placed an order through Yelp (GrubHub) at 5:57 PM. The order was due to arrive between 7:05 and 7:24 PM. I checked the app around 7:30 to see where the food was and there was a message that the order had been canceled. I checked my email and the order was canceled at 7:02 PM because the restaurant was "busier than usual ". They didn't know they were busy when they accepted the order and didn't cancel it until almost the time the food was due to be delivered! We waited 1.5 hours and then had to order from someplace else and wait more. If the restaurant was that busy they shouldn't have accepted the order and certainly should have canceled it much sooner rather than wait more than an hour and then leave us with no dinner. read more

Even if it looks empty you should go. If you love that crispy skinned succulent chicken cooked in the Peruvian magic style then you will be pleased. Fried plantains and gold potatoes are great accompaniments to the bird. Nice staff who knows what they are doing. Prices are reasonable for what you get. I've tried a few Peruvian restaurants. I've had authentic Peruvian food thanks to my brothers ex girlfriend. This place is good. I had the ceviche de camarón here and the rotisserie chicken with salad and fries. The ceviche is was good. I always order ceviche, it's one of my favorite foods. Especially Peruvian ceviche. It's always very citrusy and has a bunch of different elements. Like the corn, seeds and sweet potato (I think that's what it is). Lol I ordered it spicy, they offer it from mild to spicy. The spicy is not that spicy tbh. I wish it was spicier. But I liked it. It is a bit over priced $16 or $15, can't really remember but for that price I could have gotten way more at a Mexican restaurant or even another Peruvian place. But like I said, it was good so I wasn't too bothered by it. The rotisserie chicken was surprisingly delicious!!!! Honestly. It was soooo juicy and tender and flavorful. I would definitely have that again. I ordered it with a side of fries that were good as well. I love how thick the fries are cut and that they are indeed cooked all the way through.... have you ever had thick cut fries and they are hard because they are still a bit raw?!!!! I have. And I absolutely hate that. The fries were perfectly salted. The salad was an average salad; it did pair well with the chicken though. I usually order lomo saltado but I wanted to try something else, I will be coming back and next time will try their lomo or pollo saltado. They offer wine and beer, I didn't try any but if you're interested, they have it. Overall, it was a good experience. It is family, and kid friendly which I appreciate considering I have an infant.
