One star for Porkie the Yorkie (a very cute salon dog who wanders around) and another star for how nice the ladies were and how beautiful the salon is. However: I am so sad about writing such a negative review, but I came here because of how good the reviews were on Yelp and think it's important to share my personal experience at Loma Spa. They were nice enough to let me come in for an acrylic fill last minute (I called to make sure they had space for me). Michele/Michelle did my nails and unfortunately did not do such a good job. I've been getting acrylic fills done for years and this is among some of the worst work I've seen. She was nice and did ask if I liked how things looked but I'm a pretty non confrontational person and just told her it looked okay. I've never had a person do a fill so quickly before and it came out very uneven and not dry. She painted the gel really quickly and never gave the gel enough time to set under the lamp which caused the gel to move around after I left the salon. She also cut down my thumbs disproportionately short from the rest of my nails. She also nicked me but that to me wasn't as big of a deal. I want to clarify that Michele did ask me multiple times if I liked it, but I couldn't make myself say no, so I take some blame. However, regardless of what I did or didn't say it was still bad workmanship from a nail technician standpoint. I still paid in full and topped 20% via venmo. I went to another salon immediately afterwards because I've never had my nails look like this before. I went to Nail Haven in San Jose and the girls looked at my nails and were super concerned. I asked them to fix it and they tried first by taking off the gel which was still not fully dry. They thought it was maybe just the paint job that wasn't well done but then informed me that the acrylic fill she did was VERY uneven and they would have to start over. The nail technician there said that it looked like she didn't even try to do a good job and that I should've said something- but what else could Michele have done to fix the acrylic job when I assume she did what she could already to the best of her ability? They did a wonderful job at Nail Haven and I'll be back with them. I saw some Yelp reviews say that they got some passive aggressive comments from the owner after writing negative reviews and I hope that isn't the case with me as well. This salon has a lot of wonderful reviews and I'm sure my experience was an outlier/exception and not the norm. My nails have not seen the inside of a nail salon for all of quarantine, so Loma Spa had their work cut out for them - and I'm happy to say that they delivered! I had a little trouble finding the salon because Google Maps kept taking me to an empty lot -- for anyone who might have the same problem, they're located right next to Allstate! I called to let them know I was having trouble and Carrie was SO sweet and gave me step by step instructions -- making an appointment with her was so easy and she's overall a pleasure to interact with! Each of my nail techs were equally as wonderful! I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure, and my nails look FABULOUS! I actually chose this salon because I liked another Yelper's manicure design, and they were able to recreate it really well. They even gave me a free paraffin wax service, which moisturizes your hands as part of their TLC Tuesday! I had to wait a little while to get my design, but it was no big deal. Turns out, if you'd like a design on your nails they'd prefer advance notice for scheduling purposes, which I didn't realize. I REALLY appreciate that they were still able to accommodate my request even without advance notice. Also, the salon is extremely clean -- they opened new packets of tools in front of me for each service, wiped down surfaces between each client, and my germaphobic self felt totally comfortable being there. I will say I think their pricing is slightly higher than other salons in the area -- my design alone ended up being an extra $30 which came as a bit of a surprise to me. However, that's NO fault of theirs, I should've double checked pricing beforehand! If you're looking for something more affordable, then you might opt for a different salon, but if you're looking to treat yourself with an extra luxurious experience and don't mind doling out a bit of extra cash, then I'd definitely stop by Loma Spa - your nails will thank you! read more

I heard about Loma Spa and Leyen's facial services through Nam Vo's Instagram post, and I was intrigued to try it out. I was very happy with my first time experience at the spa, and Leyen was excellent in explaining the procedure and technique she was using. I got the transformative facial, and it was different than what I had experienced from a typical facial. All good, not a bad thing. She is great at what she does and I have great conversations with her about horror films they are the only place I know that doesn't talk crap in another language while you're sitting there... so that's nice. I went here a couple times before the lock down to get a dip manicure. My first time here, I had a dip manicure done at a different spa but it was too light and I broken a nail. It was really painful but the manicurist at Loma did an amazing job working around it. I don't know if they use organic products but she was very attentive and careful. I have been coming here for a while now since 2019ish. I have enjoyed waxing, sugaring services as well as mani & pedi services. The service is usually good and Loma is so well kept. It is clean and sanitary. It's unlike some other salons where I wonder if they are using sanitary equipment. However, I feel that the mani services depends on who you get. I got mani and pedi services on 10/8/2022. I loved my pedi service but my manicure (gel), I am disappointed. My nail tech purposefully left a lot of room between color and my cuticle and explained (when asked about it) that it was because if it's too close to the cuticle, the color won't last for a long time, which I understood the reasoning but I wished she asked me before. She was very friendly and asked what I preferred for all other stuff though; I want to add. However, I just felt like my nail looked grown out and I still got those peelings which was painful and not attractive. I know I get that there are those days which are not the best and I am ok with it but I did want to show that it was not the best so it might be improved. My left hand was not as bad. Loma Spa has a great atmosphere and both the technicians and front desk staff are very attentive. It's very clean and well-lit, and they even offer tea and water to clients in the lobby as well. It's clear just from looking around that the spa is organized and well-run. I've been to both Emily and Mikel, both incredible! I tried body waxing for the first time with Emily, and I could not have asked for a better esthetician to coach me through the process. She is very attentive and explains the waxing process to you, and regularly checks in to ensure you're comfortable. Thorough and efficient as well--I was shocked at how quickly the appointment was done because she finished the treatment so quickly and with as little discomfort as possible--though it did not feel at all rushed. She's very friendly, and makes conversation with you to keep you distracted from any discomfort which makes the waxing experience so much easier. When someone takes their time to perfect their craft it shows. This is so apparent in Leyen's work, in her process, in how she calmly and patiently explains every detail and plots out every single line, it's in how she makes me feel from the second I walk into her room, a true professional and master of her craft! I don't have a single tattoo on my body out of fear that the artist will mess up and I'll regret it, so trust me when I say, I did LOTS of research to find the right person to fix my skinny 90's brows. I follow Loma Spa on IG and loved Leyen's eyebrows. Her clients before and after pictures are what attracted me to her work initially but I was still so nervous at the thought of letting someone tattoo my face of all places! Leyen also does facials so I thought I'd test her out by getting a facial with her first. While facials and eyebrow microblading are obviously nowhere near the same thing, this allowed me to see how Leyen works, her room and how I feel around her. Safe to say I loved my facial, she has such strong yet soothing hands, her room was very clean, she gave me great advice about my skincare routine and I felt comfortable enough to book with her for my brows. Mind you, I live 1 hour away, so this was lots of driving back and forth for me but it so worth it to have Leyen fix my over tweezed eyebrows. I had my first round of micro blading yesterday and will need a touch up in a couple of months once they have healed. She was lovely in every possible way. Leyen mapped out my new eyebrows and asked for my feedback, she took her time to carefully add every little detail, she coached me through my breathing around areas that were a tad more painful, she explained the stages of healing and how to properly care for my new eyebrows. The location is nice and clean and it's not rushed or busy which is nice. I had Tammy for pedicure and she's so detail oriented I loved it! She took her time to make sure it was perfect. I've had Cindy for manicure before and she wasn't as good but maybe it was just an off day for her. The girl next to me had Holly and her nails looked so nice too! I found this place through Yelp so I wasn't sure exactly what it would be like inside but stepping inside is a wonderful change from all the other nail places that claim to be a spa. I was greeted warmly when I walked in to check in for my manicure. The gentleman at the front then took me to the wall of polishes to choose from. He pointed out which polishes had the most to the least chemicals and that their goal was to only carry the brands that had very few unnecessary ingredients. He also explained why the OTP brand polishes had two bottles in the same package - one was for gel while the other was not. I appreciated this a lot since I'm no nail expert. After I picked out my color I went back to the reception area which had a small waiting area with a few chairs. They also have free wifi for guests. They had a few products on display like some creams and jewelry which also added a nice makeshift wall that blocked off the main service area from reception providing some nice separation from the hubbub of checking in and out while you're getting your treatment done. They have rooms for other procedures (waxing, threading, etc.) that is through glass doors to another section of the spa which is then separated into rooms which again, provides a nice layer of privacy for people getting full body treatments and the like. There was gentle spa music playing at a good volume. Once my manicurist was ready I was shown to her work station. The chairs they have there are very cushy and comfy. One thing that was different about this manicure than others I have received in the past is that they had a hot towel to wrap whichever hand wasn't being worked on at the time which was very soothing. I had asked when I checked in if doing a design was possible. My manicurist let me know she was fully booked so time was tight but it might be possible. She went out of her way to check if it was alright to start her next appointment a few minutes later and did two flowers for me which I really appreciated. With regard to the manicure itself, there are a few bubbles that are noticeable and a bit of uneven polish so not a big fan of that. My treatment from walk-in to leaving was an hour. They have monthly specials so I would check those out first if you're open to different treatments. Overall, this place has a wonderful atmosphere that exudes relaxation, comfort, and cleanliness. read more

She was meticulous and focused on my nails the entire time. Wendy is quiet and soft-spoken, which I personally prefer. I'm there to relax and I don't care for small talk after an entire day of doing that at work. If that's not your preference, then you may want to look in to another nail artist, but Wendy does amazing work! I love the mani/pedi packages they offer. As its name states, it has more of a spa feel than just a plain nail salon. It's serene and calming (if other customers aren't ruining it with their loud conversations and phone calls). Came here with a group for my best friend's bridal party. The bride called ahead of time and booked an appt for 7 people all mani/pedi. When we arrived they were ready for us. All the techs were kind and did a great job on all the ladies. They have nice massage chairs and the water for the pedicure was nice and warm. They provide hot towels and hot stone massage for the deluxe pedicure. The lotion and scrubs were pleasant smelling and not overpowering. Soft, relaxing music was also playing making it more of a spa type feel. We were able to bring our own snacks and drink to make our appointment more fun and special. This is my go to place for manicures and pedicures. I enjoy the nice interior environment and the service the staff provides. But recently, the choice of nail colors has been dwindling and many popular colors are out of stock. I'm surprised that they don't replenish the colors. I found Loma Spa on tik tok and I must say, I'm impressed with the pedicure chairs. The chair is comfortable even after sitting there for an hour, the massage is subtle and perfect, and omg the chair warms up. I've gotten a lot of manicures and pedicures and I was a little disappointed with the price point vs the service. My nails and toes look nice and the technicians Holly and Tammy were amazingly sweet but to me, the gua sha mani and pedi, were not worth $140. The service was a little too basic for me. That being said, I would return for a different mani and pedi and I would recommend my technicians. I also got the head to sole facial, which was like an intense gua sha facial. It was the first time getting a facial like that and I'm grateful Mikel let me know about the facial before and during the facial. My face was glowing after the facial. I got the dipping powered on my nails and Anna made my nails look the best they've ever looked!
