Lombardos -- what a full-circle night! I can't believe it. I worked here 28 years ago to pay off some debt to my friend who had paid for my veil and ski trip. Walking back in brought back so many memories. The dining room looks way better, but thankfully the food is still delish. We came for the fried spinach, and it did NOT disappoint. It's truly one of a kind. The tortellini was delicious too--my husband loved it--and the focaccia bread was delish. I also loved the Folino Cabernet. Our waiter was great and the service was awesome. It was a little slower, which I actually liked. We had our own booth in the back, and it felt very cozy, romantic and kind of sexy back there. And our waiter totally reminded me of Mr. Moseby from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody! They've expanded, but otherwise, so much still feels the same. Unfortunately, the person I used to work for passed away from cancer, which made coming back a little bittersweet. But overall? What a wonderful trip down memory lane. We went here for dinner, and it did not disappoint. The fried ravioli and fried artichoke hearts were such a delicious way to start our meal. I had the chicken and Gorgonzola sauce - the chicken and sauce were divine. The pasta on the side was a little bland, but honestly, everything else was so fantastic this place gets five stars anyway. Stopped in after a City game as we waited for the parking lot to clear Met Chris at the bar. She mixed a good cosmo and iced tea for the DD We learned the kitchen was closed but you could order t ravs. I thought great, over cooked, dried out pasta and abrasive pocket is not what I had in mind. However, this is hands the best toasted ravioli in St Louis. Big, not dried out. Tasty, meaty filling. Sauce a little too sweet for this east coaster. Overall, Lombardo's completely changed my opinion of the T Rav. We will return for the full menu before a game soon. read more

I wanted to thank you for an exceptional evening for our group of 15! Mario, our waiter, was incredible. His knowledge of the menu, his service and professionalism and his ability to commit to MEMORY - 15 drink orders, then apps and then salads and entrees without a hiccup - no one does that anymore and certainly if they do, few with success. When the food came out he enlisted the entire staff to make sure it was properly served and "no auctioning". They too, were professional and engaging and So welcoming and friendly. The table was bussed constantly and even the crumbs removed. The drinks and waters were monitored, kept full and perfectly prepared. The caesar salads were crisp and perfectly dressed. I was amazed at the calamari - I live in Florida. Crisp and HUGE and a delicious remoulade. The entrees were beautifully presented and delicious. Other than the inability to finish the filets due to no room left in stomachs, I think we all cleaned our plates My veal saltimbocca was incredible. One of my friends got the pork chop and said it was the best he had ever had, and he gets around the food scene. I thank Mario, the staff and all of you for providing such a great evening that then included a meal! Our group had suffered a loss of a dear friend, age 34, from a 15-year battle royale with brain cancer. The funeral had been Saturday. We were looking forward to, but hesitant to celebrate. It's been a couple of days since my last review, so I thought I'd jump in here again. We were towards the back of the restaurant in what could be described as a "semi" room. SO much quieter than lots of restaurants which was VERY nice! The service was WONDERFUL and the cocktails were, again, spot on! The blue lighting was very strange, as can be seen in my pictures. My bigger complaint is that the prices seemed too high for the food received. The entrees didn't include even a house salad (had to be purchased separately). The food was GOOD, but just not worth what they were charging as far as I'm concerned. Except that Black Russian Pie! It's worth ALL they charge, and more! FANTASTIC dessert!!! read more

This Italian Trattoria is a nice place for dinner. We are in town for a conference and went here as group. They accommodated our party of six very well. Chad who was our server was well versed on not only the restaurant's menu but their sister's restaurant. He has worked at Lombardo's for 21 years and his expertise showed it. Their menu is smaller and the options are not a lot of the traditional choices like lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs or picattas. They had a white fish (I forget the name of the fish) with a lemon cream sauce as a special which is what I selected. A worker with us asked if they could make a dish that had a cream sauce more of a lemon sauce and they agreed to do that. They also removed the mushrooms from a seafood dish for someone else. The food was good including starting with their famous toasted raviolis. They recommend putting the Gorgonzola dressing on the raviolis which was a nice change of pace. I also got a Caesar salad and they provided the option of anchovies on the salad. Overall the food and service was good and would recommend giving it a try. I only removed the fifth star due to the limited menu choices but keep in mind, it is a Trattoria vs a Restaurante. Cin Cin! read more

Mrs. K. and my nieces, grand nieces, and great-grand nephew went to Easter Vigil, and we needed a place to eat. They had picked this location, and I have never dined here in my 67 years of living in St. Louis, better known as The Loo. Undoubtedly, this restaurant stands out as one of the finest Italian establishments in St. Louis, embodying all the elements I cherish about Italian cuisine from my hometown. Legend has it that this is the birthplace of toasted ravioli. And my, were they a revelation. On special occasions, I also indulged in their house salad and the veal chop. It was a culinary masterpiece that could have been my last meal, and I would have departed in gastronomic bliss. While located in the Drury Inn complex, it has been adequately built to make it feel and look authentic. I loved the location and the feel of the place. My friends and I just got back from Lombardo's after a second consecutive night of going there for Dinner. First off the place has a modern low lit vibe to it. Our servers were amazing making great recommendations on multiple dishes. And lastly the food was amazing! After dinner on the first night i left my hoodie behind. when we called to see if it was there. I was told yes and instead of me having to go back to get it , the won manager dropped it off at my hotel on the way home. overall a just incredible place to eat at . i highly recommend this place to eat! read more

Traditional Italian Fine-Dining Experience! Environment: White table cloth, dim lighting, soft music, and decor that proves the sentiment as to why this establishment has been running in St. Louis' downtown for 20+ years. When you think of Italian fine dining, this place fits that classic definition. The service is quick and attentive. The staff is very friendly and approachable, and they made the experience personalized to us with jokes and great recommendations. Food/Drink: My party tried a variety of appetizers and dishes (too many to name here, see the pictures)! Each one was very well cooked and allowed the natural flavors of the individual ingredients to speak for themselves... except a lot of dishes were unfortunately under seasoned. Yes, you can always add more salt and you can't take it away, but when you're paying at this price point, you should expect near perfection. Notably, the marinara sauce (that came with the Toasted Ravs) was desperately begging for salt and maybe some herbs in my opinion. The seafood plates packed a big taste of the sea which made the dishes pleasurable to eat. The calamari was crisp and tasted fresh. The vegetablerisotto that came with some dishes was perfectly cooked but felt too simple with just cheese (the vegetables didn't really add much to the flavor)-- a mushroom stock risotto for vegetarians or a seafood risotto would elevate the dishes and the experience. A clear star of the night was the Toasted Ravioli!! The espresso martinis were a classic made with a fantastic espresso, but a whipped cream garnish felt a bit odd. There are better versions out there! Rating: 3.5/5, nothing extraordinarily stellar about this one, but is definitely a reliable bite in a fantastic atmosphere. Though well-cooked, a bit more attention could've been paid on the seasoning. Rumor has it they have great tiramisu too! read more

We really wanted to love this restaurant, but it was just "fine." The location is nice with free garage parking if you're dining at the restaurant. It's in the basement of the Drury and feels very beautiful and quaint. Our server and service overall were fantastic. We enjoyed our meal, but it was just fine. I had the filet Gorgonzola and my husband had the shrimp scampi. Both tasted good and weren't "bad" meals. The toasted ravioli and bread were underwhelming. The breading & fry on the ravioli was good, but it just tasted like a bland meatball inside. I didn't even finish mine and I love toasted ravioli. The bread in the bread basket was fine as well. The focaccia was just okay and the sesame crusty bread was lackluster. We wish it was worth the $150 price tag, but will not be back. read more

The flash fried spinach is the best. This time had the special bone in veal chop. This was incredible and the crust was so flavorful. Went in after visiting union station Friday night and a large crowd of drunk adults had the run of the place. After several times of foul language and out burst we asked for our food to go. I made a reservation online and it was very simple. We are here before a show at the Stifel and we had a great experience. Our waitress was kind and attentive and the food was amazing!!! We got the calamari as an app and normally I am not a fan of this but they make there's differently and they are like strips and are flavorful with every bite you take. The sauce pair with it well. The bread was also a hit!! I played it safe and got fettuccini Alfredo but it did not disappoint. It was a calm and relaxing environment with dim lights and it made the experience even more intimate. I came solo for lunch on a Thursday and was immediately greeted and offered my choice of seating areas. I could choose from the dining area or the bar/lounge. I chose the lounge. The decor is romantic art deco (if there is such a thing) and I felt welcomed immediately. Warm bread with butter was brought to the table while I waited for the food to be served. I ordered the Lombardo Salad. It contains mixed greens, onions, tomatoes, olives, artichokes and cheeses with their house salad dressing, unless you choose a different dressing. For my entree, even though its offered as an appetizer, I ordered their House-made Toasted Ravioli. They are ovesized, lumpy, rectangular-shaped, meat (beef), spinach and cheese-filled toasted Ravioli. This lumpy goodness is served with marinara sauce that is covered with freshly-shaved Romano cheese. I must admit that I expected more flavor from the filling, but the ravioli is still very good and I would order it again on a future visit. read more

Been to this place many times - it is spot on and great every time. Don't be fooled with this place being in a Drury Inn hotel....their food hangs with the best of them. And to give further perspective - I can't stand Olive Garden. And it's places like this one, that let you know what Italian is like! Now for some dish comments: Toasted ravioli: These aren't your hard as a rock toaster raviolis; oh no. Lombardo's has the oversized rav's with an outside that is crisped up and yet still soft. Marinara is lighter tasting which compliments the rav's versus covering the taste up... Flash Fried Spinach: uhm....just try it and experience the melt in your mouth goodness. Calzoni: Maybe their best appetizer and flavors melded with this item. The prosciutto and Italian cheese used in this - gee does it work well; and I mean "well"! House Italian dressing and house salad: This isn't Wishbone Italian dressing. Lombardo's house Italian is rich tasting; clings to the salad and is wonderful. Shrimp Scampi Lombardo: the picture will do this entree no justice. Large prawns with a exceptional clean taste. But how they prepare with the garlic, butter, capers....and then the stuffed with some Italian breadcrumbs. Uhm....you'll never look at shrimp scampi the same... Seafood Rigatoni: a rich sauce covers the pasta; with greats scallops etc laced all within the dish. Presidential dinner for two: I won't go into detail....but this all of the courses you'll have with this dinner....are...excellent. The steak and how it's prepared...you'll wish you had a second steak! The short of this long review: The place does Italian right. Way right. Knock your socks off right! I'll finish with making a comment about the owner I've seen here a number of times: Tony Lombardo. I don't live in St Louis (If I did, I'd be eating at his place so much....the owner would really know me)! But what I've seen with Tony - he treats everyone like he really knows you. I believe he's one that appreciates people coming to his so he can serve them with a great dinner. That Tony is a person which takes a pride - yet is very honored to have had someone come to his place and enjoy his place. That....is a great owner that has this kind of mindset. read more

Our servers name was Joshua, the place was pretty packed, and upon entering the food smelled incredible. After being seated, our large group divided into two tables, the kids (volleyball), and the parents. The parents ordered wine and appetizers. The wine was delicious, and Joshua was very familiar with the wine list. The appetizer was fried Ravioli, and it was incredible. It's hard to describe the taste of the fried Ravioli, but it's a MUST TRY!! For my bottle of wine, I chose a Chianti that Joshua recommend it, and it was awesome. The place is pretty upscale, it looks really nice, and the service matches the look. I ordered the Gorgonzola Chicken with penne pasta, it was absolutely incredible, it arrived hot and delicious! My entrée had broccoli olives and lightly breaded chicken, it was a perfect blend of chicken olives, broccoli and sauce, and the meal was one that you won't forget quickly. What' set this place aside to me is the service, I feel like they really pay attention to the customer, and make sure that even in a large group setting, that the customer feels catered to. This is important to me, especially in large groups. I feel Joshua was very good at maneuvering a large crowd, and showed extreme patience even during the billing process. The other parents around the table seemed to enjoy their meal as well, and the additional bottles of wine ordered by others were equally enjoyed. In a large crowd setting, or a personal dining experience, I would argue this place is a go to place in St. Louis, and I had a great time and a wonderful experience. One of the dads at my table had a steak, and he boasted that it's one of the better steaks he's ever had. I know Missouri is known for its beef, so this did not surprise me, it only made me wish I ordered a steak, even though I enjoyed my Gorgonzola chicken.
