It wasn't very busy when I went but it still took too long for a couple tacos. There was no sense of urgency on behalf of any of the staff as far as I saw anyway while waiting 20 minutes for two tacos. The cook had to look at a chart for every order he made so once he gets up to speed I'm sure it will be faster. That being said the tacos we had were top shelf. We went for breakfast and I had a trail driver. Fajita beef, cheese, scrambled egg, and Diablo sauce. This is not your typical street taco. It's stuffed with meat and it's a mess. In a good way. I put a little of the Orange sauce (habanero I believe) on the first bite. I did NOT put it on subsequent bites. It didn't need it. The Diablo sauce is perfect. I should have ordered two.... My mother in law had the outlaw migas taco. Again, this thing was stuffed to the max with eggs, pico, green chili's, avocado, tortilla strips, and cheese. $2.75. Gtfoh. Didn't even get to try the tacos... This review is for the restaurant management. Went out this morning for some breakfast tacos. The main lady at the counter was clearly frustrated and sent her employee to the grocery store for some more bacon...any kind... apparently they have high standards on bacon Then she took one man's order and sarcastically responded when he asked her if it came with salsa. Then for the line of the other 4 people waiting to place an order she said "hold on a minute I need to go to the back and figure out why one of my girls can't seem to figure out something or other." The tension in the restaurant was thick enough to cut with a knife. They were two or three groups of dine-in people that had to listen to the whole debacle. At this point I walked out...I don't need stress with my breakfast tacos on Sunday morning. I liked it (kinda) but I didn't love it. I was really excited to try it because the idea of having taco truck style tacos in a shop nearby was well.. Exciting! Kinda pricey for the type of tacos they have to offer, it took a really long time for our order to come out. And the staff seemed peeved. The girl who took our order, maybe a manager of some sort had an attitude, and not in a good way. Maybe it was the look she was going for or something. MAYBE, because there's a skull as a part of their logo, she wanted to match it and give dirty looks out with the meal. Idk... I walked in to try this place for the first time since I was in the area for lunch. Since I live about 2 miles from a Torchy's Taco my expectations are pretty high. I got there about 12 and there was 1 table in there and no one else. Usually I would take this as a bad sign, turn around and go pick up some jerky. The girl taking the orders had already greeted me and I did not want to be rude. They had a good selection of tacos average price $3.50 each. They put a ton of meat on my tacos, so that was very satisfying! I had the Poncho & Lefty and the Pork Stubby. True to form I ate my tacos before I got a picture. I ordered a side of roasted corn... They just roasted it on the flat top grill. For $3.95 I was hoping for more of a corn salad or street corn style... So I was pretty disappointed by that. The 2 girls at the register were very friendly and helpful. Love good customer service. All in all I was very satisfied. So I don't know why I can never get the name of this restaurant correct?! I always want to call it something else lol Anyhow, someone from work ordered the Queso and brought it with chips and OMG it's GOOD! So I figured I'd come over afterwards and get some nachos. The nacho plate is pretty big, however the ratio of chips overwhelms the toppings like the queso and everything else. Mine had beef fajita on it, it was delicious. While I was sitting there I went to fill up my drink and the floor was very wet and I almost slipped and fell. One other patron mentioned it to the cashier and she kinda blew him off and did very little to clean it up. She had been chatting with some kid at the bar, she seemed more focused on their conversation then to keep the establishment clean and safe. This review is on behalf of a close family friend who was unfortunate enough to order chips and queso from this Lone Star Taco a few days ago. I kid you not, she found a chunk of GLASS in her food. Yup, I'll repeat that- 3mm chunks of sharp glass in her queso. When she bit down she almost cracked her tooth! After contacting the staff, they simply stated that they did not know how it got in there. Well Lone Star Taco....neither can we!! And that's what's frightening- they must be doing something absurd like changing light bulbs above their stove or some idiot dropped some sort of container in the pot and figured it would melt. I tried this place for lunch and it was Fantastic! I had the El Americano, El Dorado and the Honey Chipotle Pork. Price: Price seemed very fair. Each taco is around $3.75 Food: All three were equally delicious. This place is very similar to Torchy's Tacos which is a very popular franchise. I would say their tacos are just as good at Torchy's. I would actually pick this place ahead of Torchy's because the food was as good but they give you more of it. Atmosphere: Very casual. They do have a ton of soft drink beverages. I didn't order any alcohol but they have a lot of wine bottles on the wall so next time I go I will check out the booze selection. The only possible negative I have to say about this place is there isn't a ton of seating. When I went for lunch there were plenty of tables available but they only have 7-8 tables so I can see it filling up fast on a Friday night. Would I bring family/friends? Definitely! It would be a great place to get some quick food on your way to go do something else (I would grab some tacos on my way to the golf course) or a casual spot to hang out for awhile and have some good food and drinks. I'm not even sure how many stars to give! My experiences are as mixed as all the others. I've had 1-5 star experiences here. I've only dined in once which was the most recent. They were helpful, quick and the food was amazing. That was also the same as my first experience here. However we have had times with to-go orders where the food was totally bland like chunks of hard cold tasteless chicken and stale unsalted bland chips. I'm not sure what the deal is but I'm not giving up because not only are they closer and less busy that Torchys but when the are on the ball it's DELICIOUS!!! *Went back last night to get out to-go order and it was awesome! Maybe my bad experiences just had to do with one cook??? I don't know. **This is a second update. Went back today for my favorite the Carol Burnet and had a bite of the husband's Honey Chipotle...YUM! New favorite! People are so sweet, fast, and helpful. Honestly I'm disappointed this joint has been my go to place for years but the past two times I've gone not a single person was wearing a mask and on top of that the lady in the front clearly gives you a look for wearing a mask even though there is a sign on the door saying to wear one! I just can't believe they won't wear masks for their safety and that of their customers. Not only that the lady in the front had a runny nose and proceeded to rub it on her shirt sleeve. I unfortunately won't be coming back again the past two visits left a very poor taste in my mouth both literally and figuratively. I will start by saying that the food is excellent. I haven't had anything there that I did not like. With that said, the service is horrible. While ordering, we asked for ground beef tacos for the kids and a side of ranch for them to dip their chips in (they refuse to eat queso for some reason). The kid ringing me up failed to advise us they did not have either. We discovered this only after we payed and sat down. After sitting there for a while, I looked over to observe our order of food sitting on a tray unattended. I waited several minutes for the server to bring it to me as I did not wish to be rude and interrupt her text conversation. Once it was determined she was not going to set her phone down and bring the tray of food over from the heat lamp in the kitchen (which I saw her do with a couple other tables) I made the command decision to retrieve my tray of food. I was only slightly irritated at this point. Then enter the friends of the teenagers who were working there. They were loud, and causing the young waitress to perform even less work than she had been as well as occupying the young guy who was working the register. All in all, it appears to be bad business practice to let teenagers run the place without some proper management. Kudos should be given to the ladies in the kitchen. They were hard at work slaving away making some excellent tacos and dealing with the immaturity of the kids on the other side of the counter. read more

I really want to like this place! I live right up the street and am a taco fanatic! I don't know if they are just off their game every time I go or what, but I have tried this place at least 5 times and every time it has been so disappointing. Yet I see the potential for it to be amazing, and keep seeing amazing reviews so it leaves me asking why it's consistently so sub par?! Their claimed "best chips and queso" always come out cold and their chips not thoroughly cooked, leaving them chewy and insanely oily. I really don't mind how small their establishment is but I feel like their cooks rush in order to get people in and out which makes their food suffer. My boyfriend loves anything and everything taco related and even he is upset at how bland and sloppy these tacos are. Based on other reviews, maybe I went on an off night. If so, it was a really off night. Inedible may be too strong of a word, but it's the one I'm using. The carnitas taco was below average, tasted a little wierd and only caused minor queasiness several hours later. The barbacoa taco was crazy greasy; I took one bite and immediately spit it right back out. And not just due to the grease. The taste was just.... wrong. The place was a mess, dirty, food and sauce on the floor and counter. The ladies in the back that were cooking, were not wearing any gloves. They were touching and moving the trash and cooking and touching the food at the same time. My order was very simple: one burrito and 4 tacos and they messed it up. Service wasn't great, waiting a very long time for two tacos at a time when it wasn't too busy. So this is an updated review of the Texas Taco ℅. Two months later and their soda machine is still pumping out disgusting soda. Come on guys, the syrup ratio is way off! Now onto the food: The Bob Wills... Wonderful delicious fried chicken but the menu promises green chile flavor and the taco fails to deliver. When something says green chiles, I want to taste them! Still a good taco but the missing green chile flavor is what's stopping this thing from being the taco that keeps me coming back once a week for a fix. The brisket taco- good flavor, good taco choice. Jamaican jerk taco- another great choice, the cashier suggested it to me. Sweet and spicy, the kind of spicy that creeps up on you! This one has a little kick so... Get ready to drink some of that terrible tasting soda! All in all my initial review observations stand. The food is good when made right. However, the service is awful. Today was the third time they got our order wrong over the last 2 months. The first time we were shorted a taco. The second time we got home and the bacon was raw. When my husband called, the lady treated him like he did something wrong. Eventually she offered to remake it but only after questioning him about what he may have done. Umm you gave us raw bacon. Today we called and ordered 4 tacos for pick up. After my husband picked them up he got a call from the lady wanting to know why he called her cell phone. He didn't. He called Lonestar taco. She treated him again like he did something wrong only later for her to admit that she has the phones rolled over to her cell phone, as if that was his fault. We open our tacos and all 4 of them were made wrong. one example, we got cheese where we asked for no cheese. Based on the reviews I was not sure of what to expect but my exceptions were exceeded. My Big Bad Burrito was very flavorful with a smokey/grilled flavor that was accompanied with chipotle sauce. The sauce was excellent! The portion was big but not too big. The avocado dip lacked flavor but the chips were thin and crispy. Overall we were satisfied with the quality and portions. read more

Great location good idea!! But Dang! The management definitely needs to be changed cause the cashier asked us twice in less than a minute if we were ready. There was only three tables waiting and it took 30 minutes to get 3 tacos and not one of the 5 people knew how to find what went where??? Pretty much auctioned it off. The staff is unfriendly. Mostly teens on their phones or occupied with other stuff other than serving guests. This was the 2nd time my family has eaten there. The chips were stale, the food is way over priced, the a/c wasn't working ( 100 degree days ) and no ice at the fancy coke machine that had a line of people at it. I thought at first it was at a redbox kiosk because of the line of people. If they're going to have a coke machine that takes people 3 minutes to decide what flavor drink they're going to have, maybe they should have two or three machines just to keep the line moving. The food actually tastes ok but the price just ruins it for me. I hate to be so critical but the restaurant has such great potential but I don't think it has the right staff running that location and the price point is too high for the portion size. read more
