Not a good place to come spend your money. BBQ ribs and tips lacked seasoning and no evidence of being smoked or cooked with fire. No pink smoke rings...nothing. Sausage had the mouth feel of Vienna sausage and didn't taste anything like Texas German styled sausage. You'll leave the restaurant smelling smokier than the meats. Food came from plastic containers. Long wait time to be seated even when empty. Walking into Longhorn I felt like I stepped into Texas again and a sense of nostalgia swept over me! The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. Our waitress was overwhelmed but friendly. She checked on us regularly and kept drinks flowing. We chose the buffet which was yummy and quick for a hungry bunch. The cornbread muffins were extra yummy and even better with their whipped honey butter. We were in the party room so the atmosphere was nice for the littles to get their wiggles out away from the crowd. Outdoor parking is plenty. We had driven by this restaurant a few times this year and we've been wanting to try this place. On 12/5/24, we decided to stop in for lunch. They have an All You Can Eat Buffet daily from 11am-2pm. The restaurant is nice and clean. Has a nice country rustic esthetic and felt pretty comfortable. I know it's funny. It's a BBQ joint and I ordered the 2pc fish and chips with coleslaw $14.95 plus $3.50 for an extra fish = $17.45. I wanted something light. I enjoyed the fish and chips. It was lightly battered and crispy. Just how I like it. I also enjoyed the coleslaw. My daughter ordered the Brisket burger with two cornbread $17.95. She enjoyed her burger. I tried it too and it was flavorful and abundant with meat. The cornbread came out cold unexpectedly. I would've thought they would warm it up. It came with sweet butter or honey butter. That taste ok. The cornbread was crumbly. Our server, male gentleman (he didn't have a name tag nor introduced himself). He was ok. He didn't really connect with us. Just took our order and gave us our food and drinks. He did check up on us once and asked how was everything. He did not ask if we needed a refill on our coffee or iced tea. One of the most disappointing BBQ joints we've ever been to. Service was extremely slow on a Wednesday night (3 full tables with 3 servers), which was a surprise as it was an all-you-could-eat ribs night. However, given the speed at which our orders were taken and food was brought to the table, one would need to be there several hours to feel full. As for our food, the meat was dry (smoked chicken, sausage & pulled pork). Instead of a traditional creamy mac 'n cheese, we were served Kraft. The smoky burger was undersized (not 1/3 pound as advertised). But the icing on the cake were several hairs found in one of the sandwiches, courtesy of one of the two longer haired cooks in the kitchen who couldn't be bothered to have their hair properly pulled back or hats properly worn. After several attempts to flag down our server (who had disappeared, along with our hopes of having any drinks refilled), he was quick to replace the tainted food with another entree, apologized & comped the offending sandwich. The speed at which the replacement meal was brought over, as well as the check, were impressive, but the damage had already been done. Coming from a state that has excellent BBQ, as well as having had excellent BBQ elsewhere in Spokane, this is definitely not a restaurant we would ever return to nor recommend. read more

Let's just say - fantastic. I'm travelling and stopped by on the way to my parents home in Spokane . I was too late for the buffet but it was a big win. The salad was fresh- the beef tender and moist and the service was good . The restaurant started to fill up later in the day for a dinner rush. I'm glad I came when I did. I will be back. Stopping here at Longhorn (have been wanting to since I first flew in to Spokane 3 years ago) makes my third attempt to find decent bbq brisket in the PNW. ....and now I'm 0-for-3. I was excited to learn they have a buffet, but, the only items on there are ribs, chicken and ... "sausage." So, I wound up ordering the "Piled High" sandwich which has sliced brisket and sausage and comes with a pickle spear and choice of side - I got the JoJo fries, which are massive, seasoned "steak fries." I think about 5 of these wedges would equal one whole potato. And, yeah, the sandwich lives up to its name; it is truly piled up with meat. So, that by itself is a plus. But, the brisket is sliced so thin, it's practically shaved. And the "sausage"?? No kidding, it's literally the size, shape and texture of a smoked hot dog. I guess they figure, if they slice it lengthwise, super-thin, nobody should notice. And all this is just drowning in sauce between two, nicely grilled and buttered buns. If there was half the sauce and twice the thickness to the cut of the brisket, this might be a halfway decent sandwich. As it was, I couldn't taste the meat for the sauce. Sad... The restaurant, itself, is very clean and open. It has that nice, bbq joint vibe - a smoky meat "fragrance" as you walk in. From all accounts, it should be a good place to get bbq. But, the way it's served just does a big disservice to the meat. Prices and service are good. Wait staff is friendly and efficient so that earns another star. Went to lunch with my Dad at the Airway Heights Longhorn BBQ. I planned to just have the salad bar because the meats that were available on the buffet were not ones that I wanted to have. Our server let me know that I could order chicken and they would bring it to me. I had the choice of getting the salad bar and then ordering a side of meat for $4 or get the full buffet and they would bring me the meat as part of the buffet price. It was an easy decision. I had some salad from the salad bar and they brought me out a quarter of a chicken, just white meat as I requested. My Dad enjoyed all the items on the buffet. For meats they had pulled pork, sausages, rib tips, and brisket. I think the salad side of the buffet could be improved (more toppings and lighter dressing). There wasn't much to put on the iceberg lettuce. For that reason, I am happy I didn't pay for just the salad bar and had the BBQ'ed chicken quarter as well. I don't get all the bad hype. Today we finally stopped in at Lunch after seeing the $11.95 special on the Reader board. Huge open restaurant, we sat in the huge cozy booths in the bar. The service was excellent, the prices were phenomenal and we were pleased with our filling food. I highly suggest going for the Lunch specials. $11-15 and they also do all you can eat buffet of salad bar and meats for $16! Between 12-2 I believe. The salad bar was excellent, the pulled pork sandwich of GF bun was perfect. I loved the tangy BBQ sauce to slather on more flavor. The Dukes plate was the best deal in greater Spokane, $11.95 choice of meat, bbq beans, fries and corn bread. Lunch is the way to go! Went to Longhorn for restaurant week special. 3 course meal for 25.00. We had to wait for some of the family to arrive so I had a Bloody Mary. It came with a German sausage,celery,olive,and green bean on top. Very tasty! First course was more German sausage with barbecue sauce. Both were delicious. Great flavor. Main course I chose the rib platter. Sidebar was onion rings. Again, these were perfect. We were taken care of nicely, all servers were friendly and happy. Dessert was carrot cake. My husbands dessert had coffee Ice cream that was incredible! The creamiest ice cream ever!! We all enjoyed our evening out and will definitely return. What a great place for a meal after a long trip! RIGHT off the airport's main drag, Longhorn Barbecue was what we selected to grab before heading home. I never even knew it existed! It's been around since 1976, I think the server said! Weekdays, until 2 pm, there is an all you can eat barbecue buffet (Meat! Meat! Meat!) for I believe it was $16! I went for the all you can eat salad bar ($15!) and a side of meat for $5 extra. Well, the smoked turkey I selected also came with a huge piece of cornbread and baked beans! What a great deal! My husband got the bbq beef sandwich, but for him, he thought there was too much sauce for his liking on it. We started off with the pulled pork nachos. I love a good liquid cheese sauce, and this was spectacular. We took 3 boxes home of food. Definitely will be back again. I should've known coming in at 3pm when I saw it was dead. First time coming here to this establishment and it was phenomenal , the cheese burger my boyfriend had got was juicy, crispy, and filling. I didn't know what to get from the menu so i just went with a basic baked chili potato and i gotta say it was pretty delicious, especially with a side of onion rings. My mother in law had got her usual baby backed ribs with a side of fries and cornbread, and it looked yummy . Luckily we had room for desert . Growing up in Spokane I was a real fan of this well established restaurant and looked forward to introducing my new husband to their excellent food while on a trip home. Sadly the quality of food has really declined. We ordered beef ribs (me) and baby back ribs (he). They were tough, fatty and scrawny. The worst barbecued meat I think we've ever had. The sides were good, particularly the baked beans. My macaroni salad had too much sugar for my taste, however. I will never come back. Kudos to the wait staff, though. They were great. read more

Bummed that today was the last day for breakfast at the Longhorn. Just dumb luck for me that I stopped in here on this day and found this out from the waitress. After coming here for more than 40 years it is sad to see this happen. Thankfully they will still be open for lunch and dinner. All I had to do was call them and they handled everything from there. They showed up in their catering truck on time, set up their own tables and when they were done they left us the extra food, folded up their tables and left. Perfect! Longhorn BBQ smelled awesome walking in. The staff was super friendly. Our whole group got the buffet. This was not a good decision. The food was spotty at best. The sauces were good, but the meat was horrible. The burnt ends were jerky meat. I literally had to gnaw them so I could swallow. The kielbasa was tasty and ended up being the highlight of my meal. The ribs were so dry it was tough to distinguish the meat from the bone. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of the buffet. I hope the cooked to order food is better. read more

So...being from Texas, let me just say that this was some pretty darn good BBQ. I got the 2 meat plate with chicken and ribs. The ribs had a nice crusted coat that was sweet and caramelized while the inside was tender and juicy. The chicken was super tender as well with a hint of smokiness. I used the thick sweet BBQ sauce on both and it was literally finger lickin good. The sweet cornbread was awesome! The only thing I would change is them to put a little less butter on top because it was loaded. The meal also came with a side so I took the baked potato and of course I got it loaded. The portions for the meal were more than enough and I'm a big guy. They also have a salad bar for an extra fee that I didn't take advantage of, but it looked pretty good and quite a few of the locals seemed to get it. Camden was great as he constantly came around to make sure that I was pleased with my food and that I didn't need anything extra to drink. He even went and got me extra peppers when I finished the one I had. That young man deserves some praise. The restaurant had a nice country look on the inside with a wooden finish. The floors, tables, and utensils were all very clean. I even checked out the restroom and that was pretty clean too. All in all, I give this a 4.5 out of 5. Friends & family came for Restaurant Week 2023: First course: Longhorn sausage is really good! Came thick sliced with two kinds of bbq sauce. I prefer mustard but didn't think to ask for some. And the Pulled Pork Quesadilla was also delicious. Second course: Rib Platter consistently good meaty ribs & riblets. Delicious corn muffin with a slab of honey butter and my fav is their Mac salad & beans. Also, the brisket was nice big slices and very flavorful. Third course: Carrot cake was on the dry side. The fudgy brownie with coffee ice cream was really nice as was the cheesecake with raspberry sauce. I still prefer the Airway Heights location. The staff are more friendly & warm. read more

It's sad to see Longhorn go "woke"! A server with a sparkly headband and swishing his hips was disgustingly. Also, there is an ice cream machine, but guess what? Dessert is not included with the buffet. Bad call on Longhorns part!!!!!!! This used to be my favorite place, and we had Longhorn cater our wedding, but I am very disappointed. Let me be clear that I am not reviewing the restaurant per se, but I am reviewing their concessions stand at Avista Stadium during the Spokane Indians baseball season. In short, I MUST HAVE AT LEAST one german dog from Longhorn at every game I attend. Not only are they freakin delicious, based on what you receive for your hard-earned dollar, they are also the best value. They offer the dog separate or as a meal, with potato salad and baked beans. They also have a really good pulled pork sandwich (use the zesty sauce!) and a chicken plate. I have never tried the chicken personally, but I intend to next season. Two suggestions: You can't truly have a german dog without SAUERKRAUT. Why don't you offer this? Please. You gotta have the kraut with a dog this magnificent. My other suggestion: Cole slaw, please, as an option for sides. While the salad and beans are good, I don't like them enough to buy the meal (although most of my family does.) but if you had some good slaw, I'd have a double order and always get a meal instead of just the dog. That being said, the suggestions are minor, and this is some of the best ballpark food I have ever personally enjoyed. Thanks Longhorn. 5/3/2020. Chili Review. Weekly family take out meal afforded me the opportunity to order what I think is the best house Chili in our metro--and I've enjoyed it since my first stint at FAFB from 89'-95'. Broth has the consistency and flavor that makes me purr. Not too thick and not too watery. And, these guys use all their substantial smoked beef trimmings to make an amazingly hearty bowl of red. While Texans would admonish them for doing so, I do not have a problem with pinto beans in their stew. Today's pint was better than great, as always. Not a bad BBQ joint close to the airport. My colleague and I hadn't eaten all day and went for lunch. For $16.99 during certain hours, they have an AYCE buffet of ribs, riblets (points), corn, chicken, baked beans, soup, salads, biscuits and gravies and sausage. I was hoping for some pulled pork, but the ribs would do just fine. When we got to the buffet, it was almost out of food. The bartender who was also our waiter, was also in charge of filling the buffet station. He did a pretty good job. The first round of ribs weren't that great but the second round were excellent.
