I used to be a barista at a third wave specialty coffee shop so I always listen to the sound of milk steaming when I walk in to figure out whether or not I'll get a good hot espresso drink. The sound was perfect, not too high pitch nor too bellow-y. We got a Cappuccino with oat milk to share. It was very well made and oat milk is not the easiest to steam so that says a lot. The staff up front was super friendly. I could tell she knows a lot of the regulars who probably work upstairs in the building. The barista is also very "on it" with how they moved about behind the bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior had so many different seating options. Tried their new spring menu item, which was great! Price is a bit steep at 8.50, which deters me from ordering it more often. Visited lontra coffee while they were having the dodgers latte special in the middle of our famous parade. Service was fast, people were coming in to just grabs and go so they were serving pretty quickly. Once a week I work in my company's Downtown LA office. Lontra Coffee is in the lobby of the building. I decided to pop in one morning to satisfy my caffeine fix. This spot used to be Lucky's and from what I heard the previous owner abruptly closed the shop and the baristas decided to open their own place. Menu offerings include drip, espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, and seasonal specials featuring house-made syrups. Fresh pastries are also available in addition to cold beverages and grab & go items. This place is a hidden gem in downtown LA. Parking is a little tricky however, the inside is very spacious with couches and tables and a very relaxed environment. I came here today and the line was almost out the door. However, the service was very quick. The baristas were so welcoming they gave me some great recommendations. I think this place has the best coffee shop atmosphere in downtown. The tall windows and natural sunlight in the mornings make the coffee runs so pleasant and the baristas are all so friendly. There's lot of seating and there's always a gentle chatter so it's great for coffee chats or getting a little work done in a not so tense environment. The menu selection is a little limited since they make everything from scratch but the highlight is that the seasonal items that come and go are delicious. Usually cafe folks are really friendly in the morning but this place is hit or miss. The guy with the beanie is so kind and pleasant but the woman with the pink hair refuses to even say good morning. They have a few baked goods, some kombucha based beverages and a few other snacks. The coffee menu is standard with drip, espresso, cappuccino and lattes. They have a seasonal menu as well with pumpkin cold brew, pumpkin latte,etc. I forgot to take a photo. I ordered the oat latte and it was very good.
