Def, one of the most authentic Mexican food I have ever eaten! The Mayan which included chicken, chorizo, shrimps and steak was delicious. It was on the salty side otherwise would have been perfect! The stuff is super friendly and helpful Margaritas are perfect not too sweet and good amount of alcohol. I think I just ate the worst burrito I have ever had in my entire life. After a long day I got home and decided to get something from here via Grubhub. I ordered the burrito california and wow, I am not sure if that was steak or pieces of GoodYear tires. I font even think that if my teeth could cut as well as the scissors that paramedics have I could have chomped through whatever abomination that was. Besides being pretty much inedible, there was no flavor at all, I can only describe it as if it was purely seasoned in water. Expensive place for a decent portion of microwaved Mexican food. I ordered 3 tacos, literally what was served on a plate were 3 flour tortilla, some shredded pork, and 2 wedges of lime. There was also a portion of pico and salsa on the side, with some rice. The pork itself wasn't flavorful. The pico looks obviously old, as it was first made 2 days ago and has been stored in the fridge since, and it was served cold. The lack of presentation of the dish combined with the plain taste of shredded pork caused me to wonder why anybody would come here, and the meal was expensive! I've been here twice. First time was a few months ago for lunch. I had the lunch fajitas and those were good. Service was on point. Tonight I got take out and can't help but feel the bartender over-sold me. I ordered the chicken soup, guacamole and chips and salsa. The bartender was nice but she up-sold me on the Fresca quac which is way too much for one woman and oddly comes with avocado pits. ???! I can't eat these. Why include them?!? The soup as okay but it came with giant-sized veggies (3 inch long pieces of carrot, zucchini and huge pieces of potato). Flavor is okay but was disappointed that the chef thought my mouth was that big. If you're really hungry for Mexican food, take the gamble. I come here every two years when I'm in the area for work. I'm so happy they are still here because they have good food at reasonable prices and great service. This time I got the chicken and vegetable soup which has avocado carrots & chicken. The meat was kind of bland but otherwise it was well seasoned and not too salty. Perfect for the cold, windy early spring evening. Followed that with botana - nachos w/ chorizo & the works. Very tasty although the tomatoes were terrible - if you can't get good tomatoes use jarred or leave them off. A solid choice for good Mexican food with very good service. read more

Stopped in here on a super busy night with a large group of friends. We were sat immediately and our server was attentive towards the beginning of the night, but as she got more tables she began to disappear. Having been a server I completely understand how this can happen, but I also know that you want to pay attention to these large tables. Our table all ordered margaritas to start. They had all different levels of alcohol within them, so they were obviously free poured. Mine was pretty much just sugar water, while my friends was all tequila. For her this was great, for me not so much. Shortly after getting our drinks we ordered food. I got the taco special that night with two chicken soft shell tacos. They were nothing special. The chicken was good, but a little dry. There was a good amount of cheese and lettuce on each. I would have loved to add some salsa to my tacos, but the table had run out by the time our food came and the server did not come back for quite some time. Overall I probably won't be back. I did not have a great experience here, but I understand that it was a very busy night. read more

Never met a server here I didn't like! :) They are so friendly and some of them are really funny. The food itself is pretty standard for a Mexican place that serves cheap (!) beer. The chips are crispy, the salsa isn't too salty, but most importantly THEY ARE FREE (I'm looking at you, Tio's). I've ordered enchiladas, burritos, chile rellenos, and tacos here and enjoyed them all. The portions are fine, especially given that you get unlimited chips & salsa. I always leave feeling stuffed and sometimes in pain... the good kind. It is nice that there is patio seating, now that summer weather is upon us. One thing of note: The bf didn't like the margarita he ordered yesterday ($3.99, he said it was bland). Pretty good food and great service. We came in right towards the tail end of happy hour and excitedly ordered some margaritas to start us off. They were larger than I anticipated but perfectly made, just like you want a margarita to be. We started with the chips and salsa which were fairly standard issue, nothing special or memorable. We ordered the molcajete to share which they marketed to be loaded full of chicken, steak, chorizo, and cactus for about $20. For similar authentic Mexican restaurants, this is pretty low-cost which I think we got what we paid for. The bowl itself wasn't quite as large as we were used to and it did have a small amount of chicken, steak, a few large onions, a small amount of chorizo, 2-3 small shrimp, but that was all laying on top of a LARGE, MASSIVE amount of cactus strips. While I like the taste of it, the amount they included totally changed the entire molcajete into an acidic overload. Not in a good way. It probably wont stop me from coming back but it definitely isn't the first place that pops into my mind when we're thinking we want Mexican, let alone a molcajete. read more

My family's been coming here for years since opened (and through all the mgmt and name changes). So I go here a lot cuz it's literally one of the few restaurants that my father likes (this would be a 5-star review if he was writing it but he's not so yea). You're in A2 and want cheap semi-tasty tex-mex, come here. I'd say the fajitas are the best thing on the menu. The meat in most of the enchilada/taco/burrito dishes is pretty bland and flavorless--but it's usually smothered in cheese & beans so that helps, along with some hot sauce. And if you like hot, definitely ask for the "hot" salsa with your tortilla chips. Recommend: Parillada for 1, 1 order is good for 2 (3 max) depending on appetites. Mango margaritas--watered down, just order a shot of tequila..it's cheaper. DO NOT GET THE SEAFOOD MOLACAJETE!!! absolutely inedible. Just tasted like old spoiled and reheated seafood - clams/mussels/crawfish smelled and tasted vile. Shrimp wasn't cooked. Didn't even take it home. Makes me want to gag thinking about it. Service is always friendly and prompt. So they're doing something right there. All honesty, even though it's not my favorite place for tex-mex; I'll keep coming for the service & the nostalgia. I am surprised at some of the reviews on here; I guess it just goes to show that we are all different and rate our experiences based on our own meters. I've been here maybe 4 times now and I've loved it every time I'm here. This last weekend we stopped in Saturday around 3pm and sat at the bar. My girlfriend ordered a margherita. I'm not typically a fan but I tasted this one and it was delicious, my girlfriend loved it. she probably would rate it 'Chili's or better', which is a testament. I had two beers, a Pacifico and an Alehouse IPA. Both were served in glasses pulled from a freezer and were fresh, even the Pacifico which was apparently the last one from the keg. I love it when places serve beer right and hats off to Amigos. Applebee's could take lessons from you! We shared an order of Nachos which had both chicken and beef on it, plus extras. It didn't have melted cheese like other Nachos which was a little disappointing for me, but they had some kind of a white cheese sauce (probably queso) which made up for it. the chicken was shredded and flavorful. So maybe not the best nachos in the world but pretty damn good. My other trips here I've had burritos and quesadillas and they've all been good. We will be back! read more

Rude and incompetent bar staff that didn't even know how to make a dirty martini, and refused to deliver what I asked for, which FYI was a "vodka dirty martini".... I always like good Mexican food. Nothing like a good combo meal and some good Margaritas. My friend invited me to check the place out after work. I have been to Los Amigos but I never knew this one existed. Go figure. I knew where the Mall was so I though I was good to go but the restaurant was actually on the mall entrance road. I figured this out after driving around the circle a few time. There is plenty of parking. On entering there is a bar and seating. This place is a little older compared to other locations. I sat down and soon realized that the heating here must be old too because it was cooolllddd. I decided to leave my coat on. I figured I would order a Margarita and maybe that would warm me up. I ordered a taco combo with beef and chicken. The food was ok and the waitress did here job. Nothing special. The Margarita was good too but nothing to rave about. This place was just ok but there are plenty of other Mexican spots that I would certainly recommend over this one. Would I visit again, sure but I would not go out of my way to pick this place. read more

Stumbled across this mexican restaurant earlier for lunch. I was excited to taste bold flavors on my steak fajita but much to my surprise the fajitas were extremely underwhelming. I don't think any seasoning hit the plate which was a major disappointment when it comes to steak. Decent but not great whatsoever! Now the greatest disappointment came when I took a couple bites out of my Chile relleno. It was soggy and the cheese was pretty inedible - will definitely not be returning anytime soon. read more

Our group of six arrived at the Hilton St location on Wednesday evening at 9:30 pm. We didn't realize closing time apparently is 10pm but they seated us. Our server was not the quickest about getting our orders taken. Some of us ordered large margaritas or daquiris. Finally got our food and everything was quite tasty. I was very happy so far. Then the server returned right about 10pm and said it was last call, maybe not even that because the bartender was leaving. We asked for another round but they would only let us order small-size drinks (wtf?) which are much smaller but only $1.00 less. That was weird and displeasing--what was the point? To help keep us from staying too long? I asked for more water because our server didn't refill at all. When she brought the small drinks she said she'd be back with my water, but she didn't do it. She had brought our checks and then disappeared for a good 20 minutes while the staff was stacking chairs on tables all around us. We wanted to settle the checks but she was not to be found, so there we sat while the staff was trying to get out of there. We were feeling very unwelcome but were stuck waiting on her. Finally she came back and cashed us out. We went out past the hostess stand, where it seemed that the whole staff was piled up, waiting for us to be gone. Maybe they should try having servers keep things moving at the tables so that the guests aren't made to involuntarily hold everyone up from leaving. By the time we were able to get out, we were very frustrated and I don't really want to return. read more

Living in downtown Ann Arbor there are quite a few "fancier" Mexican restaurants around you can go to. Nevertheless when I want Mexican food I want it fast and dirty tex-mex style- fajitas, cheese dip, and margaritas. For that there is no better place than Los Amigos. My lady friend and I always get the Fajitas Texicanos for 2. This is approximately 10 lbs of food for like 20 dollars- mixed fajitas with chicken, steak, and shrimp. And they actually give you more than like 3 shrimp. It's an unbelievable deal, enough for at least 4 meals even if you don't gorge yourself on chips, salsa and queso. Which you should. They do have queso findido on the menu- BUT DON"T BE FOOLED. Many people miss that the last item under appetizers is "dips" and has bean dip, guacamole, and cheese dip. It is legit white queso - aka ambrosia. You can dip chips in it but its best if you get an extra order of flour tortillas to dip in or if you request a shot glass to drink it (follow with mezcal chaser). read more

I stay at a nearby hotel frequently, and although there are many fine restaurants in Ann Arbor, when pressed for time Los Amigos is my go-to. The service is always fast and friendly; there's a good selection of beers; the menu has a large variety of choices; the decor is kind of Mexican in the way that the Mexico pavilion at Epcot at Walt Disney World is kind of Mexican. The place has a certain charm to it especially for kids; there's a model train that runs on a little track above the diner's heads. The food is OK, not as good as some of the Mexican places here in California, but good enough that I keep going back. While I usually have beer, on my most recent visit I ordered a margarita; it was good, but so strong it should have come with a warning label! (I'm still feeling its effects as I write this...) Anyway, if you're staying in the area and you despise the noise level of "Buffalo Wild Legs" the decor obnoxiousness of "Rockin' Cardinal's", and the mass-produced faux Italian at the "Rigatoni Grill", vamanos your tailfeathers over to Los Amigos pronto! read more

I was hungry and had a taste for Mexican and decided to try out Los Amigos since it was really close to me. The decor was inviting, with dim lighting, and I loved the music that was playing. Being as I was alone, the hostess sat me in a little corner to myself. That wouldn't have been so bad if the servers didn't forget I was there half the time. They moved pretty slow and so many different people came to my table for things that I had no idea who to flag down and ask to serve me. Many times they would walk by or tell me they would be right back and I would sit there for 10 more minutes. It wasn't busy so not sure what that was about. The drink I had was awesome. Not too strong but still had a nice kick. I only needed one. The salsa and chips were good also. The food....eh. I love Mexican and can be pretty picky...but I did not care for the food too much. I had the chicken enchilada, a taco, and some rice. The meat in the taco was terribly salty...TOO salty. After a couple bites I had to give up on it. The enchilada was mediocre and the tortilla it was cooked in seemed limp and almost like it was going to fall apart. The food had no flavor besides the gravy it was soaked in and the salty meat from the taco. Now the rice...it was good. It was the only thing that I finished eating. It was good for a try, but will most likely not be back. read more
