So definitely I loved this little bagel shop! They were open on Memorial Day when we passed by to grab some bagels. They were delicious. They had plain bagels, some with raisins among other flavors. They could add jam or butter or cream cheese or a combination of some. I liked how they are have souvenir t-shirts and reusable bags. The staff is super friendly and patient. The parking was better on the street compared to the parking lot. You could see the parking lot didn't have enough room. The interior decoration is cute with decoration like you would see in Mexico. Luckily for us it wasn't packed when we got there but it because slightly full towards later in the morning. I would recommend to try this place out if you are nearby! read more

Los Bagels has great food! It's a little pricey (I have NO IDEA how their Yelp listing's details only has one "$" under price), but it's worth it. Think ~$18 for a meal. That's kinda pricey. Like I said though, it's worth it. My favorite is an untoasted slug, with wasabi cream cheese, lox, and cucumber. I think this one actually has a name (Sushi bagel?) but I'm not sure. Los Bagels: The best bagel in California. May might argue that Los Bagels is probably not the best bagel in California, but from the many places and variety of bagel shops I have visited, Los Bagels is by far the best. Growing up in New York City and the surrounding area, I consider myself "spoiled" when it comes to good food, especially things like Bagels. When I moved to the SF Bay Area, in my town there were two bagel shops : Noah's Bagels (If you can even consider that a bagel..), and House of Bagels. House of Bagels became my preferred choice, naturally, thinking that the bagels were actually really good compared to "big chain shops" Like Noah's and Posh Bagels. Then, I moved to Humboldt County and my life changed. I tried Los Bagels on my first day in town, and was hooked. My personal favorite is the classic Slug, with cream cheese and slug slime. Though, there are so many options and variety of toppings, you can never be bored of your bagel. After living in Arcata for 3 or so months, I returned to visit my old town for the weekend, and decided to meet up at House of Bagels for old times' sake. The minute I bit into that bagel, I knew it wouldn't even compare to Los Bagels. When I return home for the summer, I will be missing my glorious Los Bagels, and the day I return to the Redwoods, I will rejoice! read more

My brother and I stopped in for breakfast yesterday morning and we were glad we did! Never been here before. I wish I had thought to take pictures but didn't unfortunately. My brother had guac on his bagel and said it was some of the best he's tried, which says a lot since he makes his own often and grew up with a chef for a dad who makes it also. I'm a coffee person... we both are, and the coffee was so good. I was impressed. We both had mochas. Wasn't overly sweet or syrupy. It tasted like real cocoa and was smooth. So good. While vacationing in NoCal we tripped upon this wonderful local bagel shop called Los Bagels. The staff is very friendly with a unique menu. I ordered the Casey's Thai Bagel with peanut butter, cucumbers, carrots, jalapeno jelly, and green onions. I ordered this with a multi grain bagel. The ingredients were very fresh. A wonderful combination of tastes. The jalapeno jelly was just the right amount of hot that did not overpower. The place was very clean, though of note, the bagels chefs do not wear disposable gloves instead preparing the food with their bare hands. I guess the Humboldt County Health Department is more lax than the Los Angeles County Health Department. I would recommend this place. read more

In my opinion, the Arcata location serves a better bagel than their Old Town location. At the Arcata one, their veggies are always fresh and they don't skimp on the cream cheese. Although if I'm paying $3-4 to upgrade my cream cheese to a flavored one I expect to get the same amount as the regular cream cheese, but it always feels less. Still delicious, still my go to for bagels in Humboldt County. Employees have a positive attitude every time I come in and recently they're converted their parking lot into a COVID complaint al fresco dining option. Very Cool! read more

As an Arcata local, I have spent many years eating Los Bagels bagels. Not only did my parents use frozen Los Bagels bagels to help me teeth, but Los Bagels' Mexican-Jewish fusion of a name is responsible for years of believing that bagels were a Mexican cuisine. Anyways onto the review. Because of my long time history with my beloved bagel shop, it pains me to give Los Bagels only four stars, but for those of us who have frequented this local gem, you will probably agree. Los Bagels' bagels are the best and going into the shop is always a treat due to the variety of toppings that can grace the surface of your bagel. From locally smoked fish, to sun-dried tomato spread, to local jams, to the Humboldt classic- Larrupin's mustard dill sauce, they have it all! Along side their array of fun bagel toppings and uniquely Humboldt bagels (such as the Slug), Los Bagels also offers baked goods such as empanadas and cheese danishes. Los Bagels is especially fun around November and December, when the store celebrates Hanukah with dreidels and menorahs and El Dia de Los Muertos with pan de muerto and sugar skulls! Now here is why one of my favorite places to eat when I go home only get four instead of five stars. First of all, it is a well known Humboldt trope that sometimes you get more cream cheese than bagel when you go to Los Bagels. Sometimes the egregious amount of cream cheese slathered onto my bagel is just a little extreme. Second, it's expensive. Well, it's expensive for Humboldt. Living in the Bay Area, over-paying for food no longer phases me, but Arcata-folks don't take too kindly to such a thing. Of course, if you only get a bagel and cream cheese, you're in the clear, but once you start stacking all the good stuff on your bagel, it can all add up. However, don't let any of this deter you! I really like bagels, and I really love my cucumbin bagel from Los Bagels. It may stem from my bread enthusiasm. But, as in other reviews, I have noticed when employees are frowning a lot, or when they are too busy talking to each other to take my order. I have noticed when their marketing director was in the room, because that man knows how to smile, is put together nicely (showered recently which is always nice when they are handling my food) and makes sure to make the customer feel as if they are greatly appreciated. Lately, I feel like I am recognized, so the service has been great. And, there are times when I know they have hired an entirely new staff at the beginning of the school semester or for the summer, and there is a bit of a dip in the customer service quality. But, all in all, the food tastes good, the coffee is delicious. -- I have received a delicious espresso shot from here also. (I was hesitant to try out their espresso because I was pretty sure that isnt their main focus) They have take and bake cookies that I like to pretend I made when bringing them to school functions. And, they are always pretty nice to kids that frequent the shop with mom-groups. read more

A Los Bagels slug w/lox, cream cheese, onions and 'slug slime' is all I need to achieve the highest levels of spiritual purity. Please allow me to explain myself. I am but one a of a handful of people in our world who can legitimately say that they are ethnically both Jewish and Mexican. This strange pairing executed by my parents has presented me with an equally strange and confusing predicament: Which culinary tradition do I adopt? Mexican cuisine, or traditional Jewish fare? Up until my first days as a freshman at Humboldt State University, I trudged through life wishing that there were some way, by the grace of god, to fuse both of these rich and incredible epicurean traditions together; into one fully functioning cohesive unit... ...then I found Los Bagels. Los Bagels has what very well may be one of the best Bagels in the entire United States of America. My Jewish half has consistently motivated me to search high and low for the most delectable bagels in even the most remote and dauntingly Jewy delis that our nation has to offer, and have found little to none better than those who's birth is solely attributed to Los Bagels. Even Willard Scott, a man who has a head reminiscent of a fresh plain bagel, announced their bagels to be well within America's top 3 finest bagels on The Today Show... But I digress, the paramount bagels that are found here are not even what is centrally deserving of recognition at Los Bagels. Los Bagels is the first of its kind in our fine nation of over 230 years, and is deserving of respect and honor for this singular achievement. Never have I heard of another eating establishment that is as innovative and personally necessary to me than Los Bagels. Being half Jewish and half Mexican, and being as rabidly infatuated with the culinary traditions of both aforementioned ethnic traditions as I am, Los bagels serves a part of me that was missing until my discovery of it. I am now able to go to one location and experience a fusion of both of the best aspects of these two genres of food. I can have an empanada with a potato knish. Some rugalah with mexican hot chocolate. A fresh, dense garlic bagel with lox and guacamole. Challah and Jalapeno bagels. The list goes on. Los Bagels is a Humboldt County institution. Without it, we'd be lost. Their unbelievably fresh and delicious ingredients, friendly service, fair prices and wide selection of unique and fantastic products make Los Bagels quite possibly the best eatery and bakery that I have ever had the pleasure of giving my patronage to. There is not much that I enjoy more than taking a leisurely bike ride down to Los Bagels on a lazy summer afternoon, and sitting in their solarium with a soul-satisfying lunch, friendly patrons nearby, and all the while soaking up the sun and watching the world go by through their warm windows. I feel like I should thank Los Bagels; its founders, employees, and customers, for embracing my two cultures, proving that they are fully compatible with one another, and providing me with one of my favorite locations to eat my favorite food- food that can only be described as pure heaven. read more

Everyone was so incredibly nice here. I had the cucumbin bagel and I was like "oh snap this is the best". What the heck, I thought it was just going to be your run of the mill bagel place. It was not! The bagels were so freaking good man. I may have to get some to take back home with me. I was recommended to this place by a good friend of mine who used to live here. After my last experience there (how many times do you have to ask for you Americano?) I don't plan on going back. I can buy their bagels at the store and make my own combos or....I could bypass them altogether and buy some one else's bagels. I hate having to stop them when they launch in to making my first bagel while I'm still describing it (and then I have more to order) and then they mess up every time. One time they put my food that was supposed to be for there in a to go thing and when I pointed it out they said "whatever". I know that my bad experience won't shut the place down or change their tune (college students treat each other better than they do the general public perhaps?) but come on, why is it so hard to find decent customer service in Arcata? read more

The farm-egg bagel sandwich was adequate; the bagel is small and very dense and it was almost boiled in the microwave. The bathroom was more clean than not but smelled... used. Love this place. Nice multicultural/local atmosphere. I've been eating Los Bagels for the past 4 years and my only negative comment is the smoked albacore is a bit salty. Egg salad is great, lox, larrupin... whatever your heart desires I say go for it, because it won't be bad. They know what they're doin'. They also offer tours! I've worked at a day camp and we've come here for 2 field trips. They're great with the kids. GLUTEN INTOLERANT? They have gluten free bagels. Loved coming here for the past 15 years, But the system of ordering and paying is confusing, annoying and outdated, especially when it's busy. Hope they find a better streamline system than repeating my order 2 or 3 times to employees. Wish we could get our whole order together. Sometimes have to wait too long for a beverage and it just a sits on the counter without a call. Then you have to annoy another Employee to see if that's your beverage.
