I live right across the street and finally I'm able to come try this place out. Food is pretty damn amazing. I ordered the longhorn chilaquiles with beef fajitas, chicken and chorizo with grilled onions. The food came out piping hot, it was so creamy and cheesy, then the spice comes in. The tortilla strips are crisp to perfection and surprisingly STAYS crispy all the while soaked in their creamy poblano sauce. The beans were tasty as well, had that home cooked feel to it, and the rice as well was seasoned perfectly and moist. I have nothing but good things to say so far. Horchata was sweet and creamy, service was nice, we came on a Tuesday morning and it got pretty busy, the place is small but comfy. I'll definitely be returning. read more

It was everything I had hoped for in a restaurant focused on chilaquiles and the ability mix and match. Everything was fresh. We had the Lone Star with eggs and Longhorn with campechana. Between the cozy restaurant, the music they were playing, their warm and friendly staff, and their unpretentious Mexican spirit, I felt like I was in a little corner in Mexico here in Austin. And of course, the chilaquiles. Their sauces are so well done, the corn chips are the perfect amount of crisp, the hot cheese is hot and it's cheese, and the servings are enough and some more... The greatest restaurants do one thing well. This place proves that point. I had the best Chilakillers I have ever tried in Texas here. The owner uses traditional recipes from her grandmother. The chilakillers I had were so authentic and full of flavor. You Can taste the attention to detail and quality of ingredients. The best part had to be the love for Chilakillers from the owner. You can see her passion to create great food and continue tradition. I would recommend coming here when you want a delicious, filling meal. Downside- None great experience. however If anything I wish my loaf of bread was bigger. It's great to scoop up all the flavor and juices at the end. By far the best chilaquiles I've ever had, and I've eaten plenty before. It's hard to describe how delicious the chilaquiles were. I kept going despite being full since they gave you large portions. I thought it was pricey at first, but you definitely get bang for your buck. One plate can feed two people, or you can save it for another meal. My family and I are definitely coming back. The music playing in the background only added to the great vibe that was set by the decor and the amazing waitstaff. They made suggestions, which I took and I enjoyed every single bite! When talking to the staff they seemed happy to be there and honestly loved sharing their picks for my next visit. A true gem! You may *think* that it's a normal Tex-Mex restaurant that make a 30-item menu by combining tortillas, refried beans, cheese, and meat in slightly different ways. But you'd be wrong. This isn't your same ol', same ol' Tex-Mex. My sister and I went in on Memorial Day around 11 a.m., and this tiny, hole-in-the wall place was packed already. There was only one small table right by the door, and we took it. And boy were we glad we came just in time, because people just kept coming and were waiting 30-40 minutes to get seated. Nearly 99% of the patrons were Latinx, so we were cautiously optimistic that the food must be really good. Though we had to wait more than 30 minutes to get our food, it was totally worth the wait. I had the milanesa torta with ranchero sauce and my sister had the mixed meat (beef, chicken, chorizo) chilaquiles plate with creamy poblano sauce, and both were PHENOMENAL! The sauces are so packed with flavor and unlike that of any other Mexican restaurants I've been to. And the portions are insanely big--enough for the leftovers to make a full meal. The prices are super affordable, so you could feed yourself for a full day for around $10. A note about pricing: it has cash discount built in, so if you pay with a credit or debit card, it'll cost you 4% more. I'll definitely be back to this place often, and bring out-of-town guests for the "only in Austin" experience! read more

The food was delicious, although keep in mind that all of the chilaquiles didn't automatically come with eggs, so you have to ask for them! My family and I were in the mood for some tasty chilaquiles. We had always driven past this spot and wanted to support. Upon reviewing the menu I was intrigued by the Lone Star plate. I called to place and order and the person on the other line was very helpful and kind. I excitedly braved a storm to pick these up, but was unfortunately ended up being disappointed. Instantly you're overpowered by the smell of the cotija cheese. I guess that's great if you're into it. I'm not a huge fan. But when I moved past it, I instantly noticed how incredibly greasy it was. Now I'm used to making chilaquiles at home and I know they're going to be greasy BUT this was A LOT. The poblano sauce had no flavor. I'm a huge poblano fan so this was disappointing. Overall it lacked flavor. The ribeye was over cooked and didn't even have salt on it. I will give them that the beans were really well seasoned, but that was about it. Overall I spent about $58 on two plates which I thought to be a crazy amount of money. Sad that this wasn't what I hoped. read more
