Still bomb but I have to take back my "the don't hold back on the meat" comment. I went today and they now have a specific meat scooper for the carne asada burritos. Two scoops for the regular and three scoops for the large burrito. Before this they used metal tongs and piled it on. So,, yeah a slight step back but still freakin tasty!!!! read more

I eat here all the time, breakfast & lunch mostly (its right across the street from my work). I love the breakfast burritos and the light green salsa SOBOMB! Tacos usually for lunch, and I have no complaints the chicken was moist and the added items were fresh as well. I'm a bit shocked at the comments regarding customer service when mosts start by saying "hole in the wall". Would you expect perfect service from motel 6? not to say thats a fair comparison but you get the point. If your not into hole in the wall Mexican food then this is not ur spot but if you want a great cheap quick meal this is def a great spot. Bit of advise to anyone that wants great service try saying Hello, How are you? in their language first then order your much important hole in the wall but upscale experience mexican food. read more

Definitely the best Mexican food in a 20 mile radius. The cooks are equal parts artist and genius. Although the food is consistent in the aspects that matter such as overall deliciousness and portions, there are slight variations that keep you on your toes such as the food being a little more spicy. They take the foods that you like and turn it into a meal that you will love. One technique that I found absolutely fascinating was the way in which the Fortas are prepared. They prep the bread with cheese and before adding the other ingredients BAM! That thing is on the flat grill getting crispy, I am talking both sides of the bread cheese and all. It's like a grilled cheese torta. It's truly a masterpiece. I will always have a place in my heart and my stomach for Los Jalapeños. read more

This is a hole-in-the-wall place that serves mexican food really fast but still really authentic. This is a take-out place as there are no seating in the tiny "restaurant" but one could eat on a railing on the side when the place is not crowded with people trying to order in an assembly line fashion. I usually get the carne asada burrito at most Mexican places and it is no exception here. It serves a good carne asada burrito but it's not the best I have ever had as it seems to be missing something. The best carne asada burrito I ever had is from some hole-in-the-wall place in Riverside whose name esapes me right now. I've also had the fish taco here before but that was nothing to write home about; however, the taquitos has been satisfactory on the occasion I eatened it. All in all, I prefer this place to Tio's and the other Mexican places in the area due to a combination of the quality and quantity of food, speed, and affordability. The food gets a 3.5 stars but the affordability bumps it up to 4 stars. A sidenote, the restaurant could be dirty at times as the staff does not clean the customer area when it gets busy. read more

This place is one of the best little Mexican food places in Rancho Cucamonga. I think I've been to just about every Mexican food restaurant in the IE, on a hunt for the elusive, perfect burrito that I have been in search for all my life. Most, if not all Mexican restaurants around here taste about the same. I usually have to be in LA to find anything better. Their carne asda has a great flavor; the pastor is some of the best I have ever had. The beans are all right, they could be better. My one disappointment here is that their salsa isn't that great, it could be a lot better. it's not flavorful, and reminds me of hot sauce that you get out of a bottle, there's no vegetable base to it. Have been coming here for convenience and price. Located close to work and for 6 dollars a combo I will settle for average. If I have a customer that can not speak English well I go out of my way to be as helpful as possible and do my best to communicate with them and am happy to do so. The lady here at this place acted as though I was trash for not speaking Spanish it was the worst service I have received in a long time. She also acted like I didn't know how to talk and was bothering her by even coming in. The lady that rang me up was kind that's why I'm leaving 3 stars and not 1. If this is the way customers are always treated which by reading prior reviews I can tell I'm not the first then idk how this place will be in business much longer. My expectations are not high I don't need a smile or any conversation but I will not be looked at like trash or take attitude from somebody for ordering food and not speaking whatever language the ethnicity of the food I'm getting is. Very 'iffy' on this place. Have been going here for years and it's had it's ups and downs. Good price for the food, but I feel like over time it's become more disappointing. I've gone and been with my family, asked for no guac or sour cream, and they've put it on my food. When it was pointed out that we'd asked for no guac or sour cream they hap hazardly swiped some of it away with the utensil in their hand. Not happy with that. I feel like the carnitas is a bit bland, but overall if you want something quick and cheap and you're in the area, check it out. Do not eat here. Food tastes okay and prices are decent, but there was a worm in my taco today. Yuck! I called Los Jalapenos and they said to take a picture and show it to them. I have little kids and did not want to drive back. Just not going to be eating there anymore. C-H-E-A-P food. I am talking $6 for rice, beans and 3 tacos WITH a drink. Seriously, does it get any cheaper than that. With that said, you kind of get what you pay for. The beans were the best part for me. I rarely like beans but these were sooooooo good. The rice was good but the meats had zero flavor. I tried the asada, buche and cabeza. They all were bland and weren't anything memorable. I also tried an enchilada and that was pretty good. This place is not gross by any means, just not good. It's cheap food for when you just want to grab something to eat that is simple. I can't say I would come back here but if for some reason I did, I would get the enchilada plate. Looks can be deceiving. Los Jalpenos is a small, locally owned restaurant off of Archibald and Areow. Though there's is little actual seating within the restaurant the delicious food more than makes up for it. I typically order a California burrito but their other dishes including tacos and tortas are also excellent. You have a lot of choice when deciding what goes into your food which is always nice. The portion sizes are very large so be prepared for leftovers! In addition, the food is made relatively quickly and the employees are very nice and patient. Over all, a great local place to eat and one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants to go to! read more

Horrible service!!! I ordered a bean, rice & cheese burrito NO salsa. The lady started to put salsa, I told her NO salsa she then got upset emptied the contents of the burrito in the trash can & tried to refill the tortilla again!!!! the coworkers LOVE jalapenos! but ive been trying to lay off mexican food for awhile because it just doesnt work to well with my weak stomach i ended up ordering a chicken torta & a side of rice. the side of rice was decent. I don't really like the type of spanish rice they had but it was do-able the torta was severely soggy! i mean yeah we had to bring it back to work but it was disgusting looked like shriveled soft skin HAHA gross i know! i ripped off the BADLY soggy parts and jus tried to enjoy it but i ended up putting it on a plate and just ripping through it the chicken meat was shredded chicken and it was EXTREMELY dry...it was seriously a mission to get down although seasoned well (pretty salty but i LOVE salty) all in all i had a decent meal for the price im guessing the burritos are MUCH better because thats what usually everyone sticks too at my work read more

Alright, where do I begin.. Of course I know where, so this place a typical mom and pop shop, nothing to fancy as you walk in.. You look to your left and you see the menu full of items. I mean full on menu; whatever you can think of that has to do with Mexican food is on there.. Then you look to the front and you will see a lady or gentleman cooking, which to me is awesome to see, gives you a view of how clean they are.. (I'm a stickler for cleanliness ). So I ordered myself the all meat burrito (carne asada- aka .. Flank steak chopped up), and I was seriously hungry after working out and protein is excellent after a intense workout.. (You need protein) But, the meat fell short, it lacked flavor and tasted like it was from the previous day. So I only ate half of the burrito, because it was that bad where I could not finish it. I mean one good thing is, they pack the burrito to its limit, so you get your money's worth.(bonus right).. But now that I think about it, were they trying to get rid of the meat from the previous day (Hmm, just a theory) Other than that, the staff were very friendly to me; from ordering to paying. This place is great. Only thing i dislike is i no longer live close enough to go often. The asada is a little plain, that is the standard i usually go by when judging these type of places. There is a lot here that makes up for it though. The food (taste) overall i would give a 4. The price/portion size is a 6, so it gets a 5. I almost always get a large burrito with pastor (no beans). It is the size of a pop warner football and costs about $5. When you order is and she slaps down that 20" tortilla its almost laughable, then she FILLS it with meat and the laugh turns into a big smile.
