Classic Tex-Mex. Los Tios has been serving consistently good food for decades! They also have the best frozen margaritas in town.

So far, unparalled beef nachos and sour cream chicken enchiladas. Each chip is carefully and generously dressed with all the fixin's. None of this gloppy mess heaped helter skelter on the top of the chips only, leaving a mass of undressed chips wasted on the bottom of the plate. Would like to find some competition for these nachos but I'm not optimistic. Beef enchiladas are good too. Great margaritas and prompt, attentive service. I don't send people to Pappacito's. There are dozens of Tex-Mex restaurants in Sugar Land. They're all good. But this was the first Tex-Mex restaurant I have eaten at - in years - where I cleaned my plate. Today I, along with about 25 other ladies, went to lunch at Los Tios in Sugar Land. As usual the food was very good. Jose was our waiter and he did an amazing job. Our food arrived in good time and the chips, sauce and drinks were unending. Also the manager checked on us a couple of times to make sure everything was ok. I am an activities director for an assisted living facility and today our group decided to have lunch at Los Tios. We had 13 residents and 4 attendants for residents. We arrived at 11:15 right after opening and we were asked if we had reservations. We did not; however, I explained we did not have to sit together. The manager looked at the four ladies that we had already unloaded from the bus and told me they could not accommodate a bunch of people in wheelchairs. I explained to him that most of our residents could transfer to chairs they weren't bound to the wheelchair. We took four different tables and the waiters and waitress were rude and one if the waitress actually used the "GD" word when telling us he knows his "GD" tables. We told the waitress we wanted the lunch special when ordering certain lunch items yet we were charged regular menu prices, there were also a few other charges that had to be corrected before we paid. We were so disappointed in your establishment and horrible treatment of our residents that use wheelchairs!! We will never even consider using your establishment again!! HORRIBLE!!! read more

Last night was the straw that broke the camels back. We have had ANOTHER racially motivated incident at Los Tios in Sugar Land Texas. We experienced another slap in the face by the bartender Juan Reyes. According to what we have been told in the past, you can't make reservations at that establishment unless it's large party of people. The other tale was that they don't make reservations at all! This is what "we" were told. We went to have dinner last night and as I made my way to a vacant table, Juan Reyes jumped in front of me blocking my way. He then told me "This table is reserved" after that he pointed his finger in my face almost knocking into me and indicated a booth on the other side of the room. He then stated "You sit there"! After that he walked away and I took a seat at the bar and waited for my husband to take a seat next to me. My husband then told me that he did not want to sit at the bar and we relocated to a table in the back of the restaurant. Frustrated and angry we spoke to a manager that was new to the restaurant and we expressed or feelings on what had transpired earlier. After hearing what we had to say he apologized and said that he would speak to his immediate supervisor. We couldn't believe that Juan Reyes was still treating us like second hand citizens and getting away with it. I gave an earlier review as to how he had given us bad service and continued to work there like it is a common everyday practice. I was NEVER contacted by management or anyone else. Obviously, Los Tios embraces this type of racist behavior because this man hasn't been chastised or put on notice since his last incident with us. I highly doubt that the owner of Los Tios will respond to this report either. As my husband and I were discussing the issue when we approached another manager and told her what happened. The excuse we were given was the customer that the table had been reserved for was a "friend" of the owner. That made the situation worse because we know the people that the table was reserved for. These people have been frequenting Los Tios just as long as they we have and in the past they had to wait in line just like us. So the "story" that they were friends of the owner was nothing but an excuse and a blatant lie. We aren't the only Black people that he has dismissed. I will not disclose the person's name, but I will say that while waiting for a seat at the bar he was put at the "back" of the line while white and Hispanic people that came in after him were seated first. We witnessed the whole thing as it happened. So, there's no one that can convince me that this "man" isn't a racist and that he intentionally puts other people that are friends of his before anyone else. My question is this, "When will Los Tios do the right thing and address this issue"? They probably won't. I do know that word of mouth is very productive when a business is good or bad. I will be sure to let my Black friends, neighbors and anyone else looking to being treated with respect at a Mexican restaurant know that Los Tios is NOT the place to go. read more

Los Tios, believe it or not, was one of the first restaurants in First Colony. It's the home of solid Tex-Mex dishes. I dined here many a nights when I lived in the area. I was happy to see that the restaurant has grown and expanded. So, why only three stars? The crispy beef tacos were as good as I remembered, but their new salsas suck. The new salsa had a weird taste...overpowered by onions. I kept asking the server, "Where is your original hot sauce?" He didn't have a clue what I was talking about. I guess it's been a long time since my last visit. With salsa this bad, it may be even longer before I return. read more

Been coming here for awhile now and always forget to review. If you want something more authentic and not as Tex mex as some places, then you need to try Los Tios. This location has been around FOREVER!! My friends husband remembers coming here as a child. They make their margaritas strong and their Mexican martini is very good too! Sometimes it's just little things to ruin a dining experience. Service is usually decent, but the booth seats are horrible! They need to testify then so my chin isn't at table level. (OK, not quite)... I always ask for a table because of the crappy booths. One night we dined at a table in the back area. It was about 8pm. We were the last ones finishing our meal, and the staff started DRAGGING out chairs to sweep and clean. It was so loud and rude! We couldn't hear each other talk. You can't lift chairs up a little there's no LOUD scraping noise? Why not put felt on the chair feet or those plastic glide things?!! Great neighborhood spot. My husband and I ride our bikes here to enjoy their margaritas from time to time. They have good tex-mex style mexican food too. Their Acapulco dinner is really good, it comes with a beef taco, guacamole, queso puff, cheese enchilada, and a tamale, along with rice and beans. My husband usually gets their tacos al carbon dinner. They have great charro beans and we usually request to switch them out in the dinners to replace the refried beans, but the refried are good too. The crispy tacos are a little greasy, but their cheese enchiladas are awesome! When you order to-go , it is through the bar area and the bartender handles it. If you are ordering by phone on a Friday/ Saturday night it can be very busy and there is usually a line when you go to pick up your food at the bar. Los Tios has always been one of my favorite restaurants! This location provides excellent food and service. Recently I placed a large order for 10 people and since they are short staffed, I picked it up. The manager Sean was extremely helpful and provided me with several large aluminum pans and fuel cans so I could set up the food easily and keep it warm. He gave those to me for no charge! He also gave us a box of pralines for free. I'm not sure if they always do that but I sure appreciated it and everyone enjoyed them! I ordered beef and chicken fajita's for 4 which came with rice, beans, quac, pico, queso, and FRESH tortilla's. I also ordered cheese enchilada's for 6 which came with rice and beans too. Of course it also came with chips and two different salsa's. I LOVED how they bagged the chips! Most places bag chips in a paper bag - which will end up with a greasy bottom; or in a plastic bag. Los Tios bagged the chips in small, lined paper bags and the top of the bag folds down and closes nicely. We had 6 bags of chips which was plenty. Everything was packed well and Sean helped me to my car. Everything was fresh and delicious!! I HIGHLY recommend this place! Again, this has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I don't know why people go to the more expensive ones when we have a better quality restaurant that is more economical! Came here for dinner after a long time away (10+ years). The food is decent and so is the service. Here's what I tried: 1. Beef fajitas for 2- in my opinion, the portion size was not super generous for $33. The beef was cooked well, though (asked for medium), and not over salted (ahem, Pappasito's). The sautéed onions and peppers were fab. The homemade tortillas rock!! 2. Shrimp enchiladas with spinach added in for an extra $.75- these were wayyyyy too cheesy. The cheese was super thick and congealed on the enchiladas. I would pass on this next time. 3. Fish tacos- the double fish taco plate was $11 and very tasty! The fish were lightly fried. I asked for the queso fresco and raspberry chipotle sauce on the side. 4. Sopapillas- these were a bit heavy (the dough was thick), but a nice treat to end the meal. Would probably pass on these next time, too. Overall, an okay place to grab Mexican if the wait is too long at your favorite joint! read more

This is a pretty neat restaurant, it's been in our neighbourhood for years and years. the food is about 8/10 , but the service is really good. especially the takeout is very fast and easy. the only thing I don't like is that they are a little bit too overpriced , I would say they are generally about 30% more than other restaurants in the area with exactly the same food quality and service. read more

I want half stars- this place is great the third time around. great management and service the food is amazing they cook meats over wood so we got steak fajitas for two this time. Large portion. Their margaritas are very very good too. I like that the manager/owner mentioned if there is something you want not on the menu we will make it just ask. We had a gift card hiccup last time but got a new one on the spot- had a problem this time and the manager just said "how much is it for" we told him and he said "I'll take that off your bill" can't beat that- we will be back here- we did have a little wait this evening the place was hopping. read more

This place is the best! I have visited more than once and the food is always perfect; the service is stellar! Tonight, we had multiple servers, tending to our table, who were exceptional at their craft and very gracious hosts. The snapper tacos were perfectly cooked, and the fajitas never disappoint. This place really impressed me. If you look at my other reviews, you know that I LOVE Mexican food. When I walked in here, I was greeted VERY warmly by the hostess and manager. The manager learned that this was my first visit to Los Tios, and brought me a free sample of their fajitas, (beef and chicken) to try. The fajitas are cooked over a wood grill, and smoked. I enjoyed them quite a bit--tasted like a good steak, rather than the burnt taste you get at many small Mexican restaurants. I had a combination plate with an enchilada and taco, and enjoyed them both. The chips were fresh, as was the salsa, which is a cold, chopped vegetable style of salsa, with a good lime flavor. The service and value were good as well. Overall, a pleasant experience. I'll come back next time I'm in Sugarland. read more

I love Los Tios but hate this location. The staff is very inattentive and the food is not near as good as the other locations. Both times I've placed a "to go" order they failed to give me red & green salsa and no silverware or napkins. Enchiladas come out dry and hard and the rice is always under cooked. I wish they would do something about this location. Until then I will make the extra drive to the Meyerland location where it's almost perfect. read more
