It is sort of a sampler with a phenomenal chile relleno, guiso, quesadilla, and flauta. Salsa is good, a little watery, but I prefer chunky. Fajitas are amazing. Had the steak and wow. This place many years ago over on SW 89th and western in OKC was great. Over the years it's gone downhill. It really makes no sense to me. I don't know much about Mexican food. But I know when food tastes good and stuff... And Los Vaqueros (LV) food tasted good. I mean, yeah, all of the sides tasted just like any other restaurant, but I don't know if that should count against LV. Refried beans is refried beans is refried beans. Queso is queso is queso. Rice is rice is... you get the point. What gave LV the edge over some of the other Mexican (Tex-Mex, Texican, whatever) restaurants I've been to recently was the meat. The fajita meat in particular (chicken, and beef) was seasoned/marinated so well that I may have... consumed more than I... perhaps should have consumed... in one sitting... Well, if I'm honest, certain bites of the beef were super tender and delicious, while other bites were super chewy, so it wasn't perfect by any means. But the flavor was on point. The chicken also was meaty Mexican(ish) perfection. And just the slightest touch of char that added to the yum. Yum, I tell you. So yes. Mostly average. But yay delicious marinated meat. read more

The service is out of this world as soon as you sit down you have chips, tortillas, salsa and queso, and they take your drink order right then (tecate is good) ask for relish and hot salsa if you want it. A few years back the city had a kids camp and they stopped into this place with the kids for lunch one summer day. I guess one of the employees really liked a little boy because he was able to get the boy alone and started dragging him to his vehicle. The camp counselor finally saw what was going on and ran outside and yelled and the employee let the little boy go. The boy ran back to the safety of the camp counselor and the restaurant owner laughed and played it off as a misunderstanding and a language barrier and said he was just playing with the little boy. No he was trying to kidnap him and No means the same in english and spanish so what language barrier was happening here. I will never eat here again and I'm shocked the people of mustang still do. read more

I eat here a couple times a month. Their shredded beef enchilada dinner is my usual and it's the best! It comes with a generous helping of refried beans and rice, which are both really good as well. The cheese sauce has been a little on the bland side for the last four years until a couple months ago. It wasn't too bad before, it gave the chips some flavor, but now, it's pretty good. It still turns to a jello consistency as it cold though so eat it while it's hot. The chips are usually crisp, but sometimes you can tell someone else fried them because they're either almost burnt or not quite done. But most times they are good. The salsa is made fresh. It always fluctuates on how hot it is and how course the vegetables are chopped up, but it's always been good. I did get steak and chicken fajitas one time. I was disappointed in it. It was mostly onions that were barely grilled with two small pieces of green peppers and only 4 strips of meat. The steak was delicious though. It was tender and juicy. The chicken was just ok as far as flavor goes but it at least it wasn't dried out. The inside of the restaurant is older and kind of dark, but it always looks clean. The waitress/waiter who gets the food is always nice and friendly. It takes less than 10 minutes for them to get it ready after I call it in. read more

This is quite possibly the worst Mexican food I've ever had. The salsa is bland. The "queso" was some thin water yellow stuff with no flavor. The salsa was also bland. The chips were cold and on the verge of being stale. The waiter argued with me about menu items. Like there was a sautéed whole catfish, and he said "no, it's fried". There were several items like that and I asked him what was going on. He said "we need to redo the menu, things have changed". I figured I couldn't go wrong with beef enchiladas. Wrong. So wrong. Imagine a stiff cold corn tortilla topped with canned chili with no beans and cheese. And there you have it. The shrimp ceviche was very "fishy" and unpleasant. The place is expensive and the food awful. I would eat at Taco Bell before going back there. And I don't like Taco Bell. read more

This place has really grown a lot over the last few years! It's a great place to get a quick meal! They are the best about timely service! The staff is incredibly helpful and nice! They always greet you with a smile! The food could use a little work. I wish the food had a little more flavor, but other than that it's a great place for after church or a quick lunch meal! August 7 2021 After church lunch. Will not go back! Service was slow. Hard tacos came out so soggy they were limp. When questioned the waiter got huffy and brought back a hard shell empty. Taco salad soggy bowl and had to ask for ground beef, he took it back and returned with a table spoon of warn meat on top. Drinks were not refilled and. Beans were warm well not really, Sopias were not edible tasted stale. We are not picky eaters at a;;5 adults and 2 kids we left more food than we ate. WOULD NOT recommend this place!!!! read more

I love this place. I have been going here since I was in high school to eat their chips and cheese sauce. That being said I feel like the tortillas are not near as good as before. I'm pretty sure they are not homemade and they taste like packaged tortillas which makes me sad. They have moved since and they have full service bar and I love it!! We go to Los Vaqueros very often and have never had any issues. The food is great, we enjoy the atmosphere, and have always liked the staff.

Service: Quick, efficient, friendly. Drinks were refilled in a timely manner, empty dishes were taken away quickly and the waiter was smiling and polite. Atmosphere: Eh.. it was clean and plenty of moving space for customers and staff. Nothing really overly "wow!" or "ick!" about the place. Food: Chips were wonderful as well as the salsa. Figured it would be a safe bet. It wasn't good. Meat was flavorless. "Enchilada" was just a corn tortilla with the same watery cheese sauce and raw onions. Blah. Decent lunch prices. Pretty darn good Mexican food. Is it fancy? No. Does it taste good? Yes. The queso is thin and bland but the salsa is great. We got our drinks& the free set up very quickly...the tortillas were hot and fresh. The fajitas were fab...the flavor of both the chicken& beef was delicious. This restaurant provides good service, but that's the only positive thing I can say about them. Their food is mediocre, and look at the cleanliness and it's a huge disappointment--I find them consistently dirty. The real kicker with this 'restaurant' is that they skimmed my wife's credit card and ordered themselves over $1000 worth of aftermarket truck parts and clothing. Yes, the owner drove (at the time) a big, tricked out and lifted new pickup truck, as well as the same brand of clothing that was ordered from my wife's credit card. And the card skimmed was a card my wife hadn't used in 6 months prior to that night, and does not normally use. So we know for a fact these people were the one's who illegally skimmed her card and stole her identity. So if you like mediocre Mexican food served in a dirty environment, and don't mind your credit card scammed out of $1000, as well as your identity stolen, then this may just be your place to eat. read more
