Clean , tasty sandwiches , I created my own with grilled chicken I picked the choices I like. Overall, it was nice wasn't that crowded and I liked it. One thing that stood out was the artwork on the walls, very cool and creative. You can tell some talented hands were behind those drawings. Overall, great spot for a chill meal. I'd definitely come back!

I'm not going to lie; the reason why I wanted to go was because the name of the place was Lost Dog and reminded me of Lazy Dog. When you're hungry and in a rush for a quick bite and in the area, this is a fair spot to get a loaded sandwich. The Mighty Dog was loaded with ham, Turkey, and bacon; I don't love bacon but I fumbled and forgot to say that at the register so that's my bad. Overall, pretty standard quality. The chili was also fine and hits the spot on a cold day. :) The reason for the 3 stars: I would say service is really nice! The girl up at the front was friendly and helped me quickly. She was very warm and welcoming and given that they seemed short on staff, she was working tirelessly. :) The atmosphere is very casual and a bit too dimly lit to my liking, but it seems like a nice place to sit and enjoy a quick lunch. It also seemed pretty clean and well kept, so there's that too!

If I could leave a 0 star review, I would! My partner and I have enjoyed eating at other locations, but the location in Mclean was a disappointment. We went to go eat with our dogs to spend some time with them and our waiter was incredibly rude. Our dog had barked a couple times and we had apologized multiple times until we got our dog to settle down. However, our waiter had "sighed" at us multiple times and I continued to apologize for our dogs since I know some people aren't comfortable with dogs. Additionally, he handed us our food, but never came back to our table, so we had to ask another server for silverware. Our waiter proceeded to give checks to every other table that was near us and never gave us ours. We had to go inside and wait for our check. I was already pretty frustrated, but we still decided to take our food home. While finishing our leftover food, my partner had found a piece of glass in his pizza that was given to him. This was a very frustrating and disappointing experience.

tl;dr - the food here was really not great... I came here with a few folks for lunch a couple days ago. It took us awhile to decide what to order because the menu was just so... extensive. It seems like their specialties are their sandwiches, pizzas, and pastas, but there were at least 10-20 options for each category. Not to mention, about half of their menu were highlighted as a "Lost Dog favorite" -- which means, they either have a lot of favorites or that says something negative about the menu items that aren't their favorites, haha. We decided to get a couple appetizers to share along with our own entrees. It took a while to choose what to order because there were so many options. ITALIAN FRIES - 5.95 Pretty standard waffle fries with a good amount of seasoning to keep me eating them. They were fresh and crispy and enjoyed with most folks at our table. GREEN DOG DIP - 8.95 We were excited about this because spinach and artichoke dip is delicious. However, it was also topped with pico de gallo, which was confusing. We could barely tell it was spinach and artichoke because the pico de gallo took up most of the space on top and even then, the flavors were unbalanced and everywhere. I thought the dip was pretty boring in terms of flavors, greasy with not much else to offer. It was also confusing that they had both pita and multi-colored tortilla chips. This appetizer was definitely a lot, and not in a great way. CUP CHICKEN CORN CHOWDER - 5.95 There were lots of chicken, corn, onions, and green onions in the soup and definitely was a chowder. However, that was the only plus. The chowder was really bland and weak, which made the whole thing unenjoyable. CREATE YOUR OWN & CLASSICS: TURKEY BREAST - 10.95 Because the menu had so many sandwich choices, I knew I could not finish reading and comprehending all the options before I had the chance to order, so I just created my own sandwich. I requested a sub roll + turkey + muenster cheese + lettuce + tomato + avocado, so a very simple sandwich. The sub was super thick and it looked incredibly (and tasted) dry, and the presentation was sloppy and unappetizing. This sandwich was crafted in a way where it was impossible for a person with a normal mouth size to eat. There was no way to fold it -- because the part where the sub folds ripped in half when I took my first bite. Someone at our table described it as a "maze" and "good luck trying to figure out where to start eating". The turkey was just salty. There was a thin slice of tomato and a couple slices of avocado. This sandwich was definitely not worth what they charged. Truly disappointing. I'm personally not the biggest fan of the food here, but it seems like a popular lunch spot for a lot of folks.

Lost Dog has solid food and a great selection of craft beers, which is pretty much what it takes to keep me happy. The menu here hasn't changed too much in years, and that's part of what I like about it. If I'm looking for a sandwich or a pizza with a side of fries, slaw, or onion rings, I know this place won't fail to satiate my hunger. They have been making gourmet-style pizzas with fun toppings since before it became trendy (and then became not trendy again). This location has a very relaxed, local vibe, and it is tucked at the end of a strip mall next to a huge Safeway supermarket. The interior has a bunch of cool murals that I couldn't stop staring at on my last visit. And there is lots of parking. Finally, the beers. Huge selection of bottles, cans, and taps. This is a great place to come if you want to drink a "fancy" beer in a laid-back environment.

Lost dog cafe- classic local institution serving a wide variety warm/cold sandwiches and customized pizzas. Options for crust are wide! Serving draft beer and a number of can/bottle beer options. Service is always pretty good ,interior and exterior seating is okay/not the most comfortable. Bottom line is the food is good, though not outstanding.....however they support a super awesome cause for dogs. Gotta love that!! You know you're going to get a good meal here and at least right now there are not a lot of alternative options in the immediate area. They fill a good niche. Black bean dip I would say this time was bland and missing ANY flavor.

    Worst Cheesesteak EVER..!
    Derek J. C.

I was starving. I never should have ordered a Cheesesteak from here. It was basically Roast Beef heated up on a toasted bun. When they put it on the table I almost blurted what the hell is that. But I was starving. So I took a bite. It tasted way better than it looked.. Definitely not worth the price of admission. $13 bucks for a Cheesesteak and $6 for fries and $3 for a sweet tea.. I definitely don't have a problem paying for quality. But that's not what I received. Waffle fries were old and cold. The Cheesesteak bun was Soooooo toasted that it was like eating a crouton roll.. Will I give this place another try. Yeah. But it will be either a cold cut or a pizza..

Chili Over Spaghetti with cheddar cheese... hubby topped with Tabasco but note they are changing hot sauce so Tabasco may not be available

Reservations - I've been with OpenTable and other restaurant online booking systems for decades but this is a first for me. They have two separate OpenTable listings (as noted in other reviews). I was clear in that i just wanted an after work chill happy hour. I booked for 4:30. After promptly showing up at the wren for my 4:30 appointment I was told, Naisho room doesn't open until 5 pm.... So why did you let me book for 4:30?!?! No explanation. No apology just "you're early..." 2. I promptly dropped $70 for drinks and an appetizer at the Wren bar to hold me and my guests over. It wasn't bad but that's not what I was hoping for... at 4:30. 3. The service to the speakeasy was great. The "gym stag" had our 4:30 and let us in at... 5:03 pm... 4. The waitress inside the speakeasy was super awkward and off putting. She really needs a class on etiquette. I ordered quite a bit right off the bat but my guests slow roll throughout the experience and she didn't seem too happy with that. Taking away our menus doesn't encourage us to order either. You charge $22 for one tea sandwhich but can't afford to print out more menus? The menus were also pretty dingy and I hand sanitized after using them. 5. Food. Was mid at best. Not at all authentic Japanese. I had the oyster shooter, temaki, Wagyu toast, Wagyu quesadilla, and mocktail. The oyster shooter was too sweet. And you could only taste the oyster and caviar at the end. Mostly as an aftertaste. There was a "too sweet" aspect to most of the food. The temaki was okay and I liked the crunchy bits but they went too far with the plastic wrap on the seaweed. The plastic wrap gave me Japanese 7-11 onigiri vibes. You do that if you aren't efficient enough to get the food out to guests at once and the seaweed will get soggy. I'm not sure if it was for a "fun factor" for people who are unfamiliar with grocery store onigiri in Asia but in a restaurant it should be done for you. The Wagyu toast was a HUGE disappointment. It was Sooooo sweet. I filet barely taste anything except the gross, sweet jam. And the toast was soggy and the texture of the bread felt prepared the day before and like refrigerator. It was not toasted at all. The star was the Wagyu quesadilla with beef tendon chips. It was the cheapest item on the menu and the most filling and delicious. 6. Drinks were very good. Expect about $20 a pop... $50 for the Japanese whiskey is highway robbery. Nothing really "rare." I have most bottles on the kitchen counter from the Virginia ABc or DC Costco. You can buy an entire bottle of the Japanese whiskey at Costco for the cost of one serving here. Overall, the Naisho room felt like all hype. For over $100 I was still pretty hungry. If the food tasted good I would have ordered more but I didn't think it was worth it. You get a nice view but it's the same from most of the capital one building. Same view from the brewery. Don't waste your money. Go elsewhere. Plenty of better happy hour spots for much much less considering if you stay for more than two hours you have to pay for parking (we did becuase, well, our reservation was at 4:30...)

The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between modern luxury and intimate omakase tradition, making it ideal for a special night out. The staff's knowledge, professionalism, and passion elevated the entire evening. Modan is easily one of the most impressive Japanese dining experiences in Northern Virginia and a true gem for sushi and omakase lovers.

While a scramble sounds simple on paper, it is easy to overcook the vegetables. This one was executed perfectly, with every vegetable done just right. The thin-sliced potatoes were highly seasoned and stood out, moving away from the standard, heavy breakfast spuds you get at most places. The presentation across the board was excellent. The latte arrived with a nice touch--a small side cookie and a club soda to cleanse the palate, which shows a level of intentionality you don't always find. The staff members were incredibly friendly and gracious from start to finish. With fast Wi-Fi and a comfortable environment, it is an ideal spot to get some quality laptop time. It's a great addition to the local lineup.

We were told we could sit at the bar or outside, but when we asked for one of the open tables, we were denied because they were "reserved for parties of three." That just doesn't make sense. We're still paying customers, ready to order food and drinks. Denying service like that--especially with empty tables in plain sight--feels unnecessary and rigid. I even asked twice, hoping for a little flexibility, but the answer didn't change. I work in the service industry, and this is exactly the kind of situation where you make an exception or use some common sense. Instead, it felt like policy over hospitality. Really disappointing experience for a place I was excited to try.
