Although the interior isn't much to look at (a lonely giant fish swims lazily in a tank in the dinning room) I really enjoy this for quick, good Chinese food. My favorite is the Chicken Delight - loads of chicken, broccoli, mushrooms, water chesnuts, snow peas, bamboo and carrots in a brown sauce. It's not gloppy with tons of corn starch but not much flavor *Spicy fried fish - too much sauce covering it. I ordered a large and it wasn't the family style size, it was in the small bowl - and I mean SMALL bowl. *Szechuan beef - not spicy and the "brown sauce" *Spicy tofu - had button mushrooms and peas with "brown sauce" There wasn't anything on the menu with bok choy or any authentic Chinese veggies. I wanted black mushrooms and bok choy or spinach with garlic. Nada. Even t On the menu the description of many of the items had "brown sauce". WTH is brown sauce?!?!?!? I never heard of it. Rice - the gave me a scoop of rice instead of a covered bowl with a rice paddle. The decor is old, but some I don't expect much because in the Bay Area there are some places that aren't all pretty and nice, but the food rocks! Good lunch spot in the area. You definitely get a good amount of food for a low cost. The service is good. Our water glasses were always refilled and the servers give their recommendations on popular lunch dishes or their favorites. The waitstaff is very friendly and accomodating. I ordered the wonton soup and Mama's chicken which was pretty good. Mama's chicken was flavorful and a good level of spice. For $8 you can't really go wrong. I read the other reviews and I can only guess they were written by owners of other local restaurants. I'm not affiliated with these people and I I can pretty well guarantee you that you'll love it. If you like Chinese food and have food allergies you'll LOVE this place. Just be sure to explain what you have (mine is gluten, soy and lactose) and they'll take great care of you. The food is outstanding and the staff will go out of their way to make you happy. Celiac, lactose intolerant, soy, corn, no matter what you have they'll do whatever they can to help. Went here for lunch. Good price for the amount you get. Three of us got meals (which include a cup of soup and an egg roll) and an appetizer and the total bill was less than $40. The service is quick and the employees are very nice! The flavor was good and it wasn't too greasy, which I find some Chinese restaurants can be. This was.... Horrible. Two adults and one child (who's really more like three children) meandered down this way after over shooting a turn off. Finding decent recomendations on Yelp and a 4 star review, she convinced us (me, really, since the minion gets little say) to try it out. I wish she hadn't. We stopped in for lunch and well... The food was.... Meh. Not really "okay" but it was edible. I had chicken with broccoli, she had shrimp with.... Something, and the minion opted for Kung Pao Chicken. I was sad that there was no true egg drop soup (something instead called velvet corn soup that was like fake egg drop soup that tasted purely of corn) and I elected to try the wonton soup. None of us liked the soup, the wontons were big but there was no meat in either of mine, and the velvet corn tasted like liquid corn. Yeah. Egg rolls were subpar and filled mostly with cabbage and little else. Food finally arrived and the waitress forgot to mention to the chef(s) that 1) the kung pao should have had no veggies and 2) my broccoli was requested well done (I like 'em softer rather than crispy, plus they cook longer in the sauce and taste better, usually.) The service here is really what got to us though. We were seated, and placed our drink order. Not even thirty seconds into sitting down, the waitress rushes up and asked for our orders. When we explaned that it was our first time here and wanted a minute to look over the menu, she grimaced and left, and didn't return for about 10 minutes. On the other hand, the busboy(?) would come around every 5 minutes and splash more tea in to our cups whether we wanted some or not; usually not an issue, but when I really am done with the tea, and just want some water, I don't want MORE tea. Espescially when that more tea is mainly.... Ice. And splashes on to my plate. The waitress we had was just simply... Awful for the first half of the meal, and nonexistant for the second half. So I used to work the end of Bee Caves towards MOPAC, and the company would order delivery all the time from here. And the delivery man was sooooooo freaking nice. Kid you not, you'd be surprised how uber friendly he is... Much to my surprise my best buddy, loves to dine here as well. So I knew, they must be good. If a WHOLE office and my pal love this joint. Besides they will sub the brown sauce for white sauce on any plate, you know for a healthy version... And if there was a lack of meat in my food. I spoke up immediately and it was corrected. HENCE why you speak up and say "hey I didn't get enough meat last time" If you don't say anything, how do you expect anyone to correct that mistake for the future. They're more than willing to correct anything that's not right. This is a family run and owned business and couldn't be more proud to eat here often. I don't understand the ratings for this place. I came in for lunch and ordered the lunch special. The price is great, the food was mediocre. I got the beef with broccoli, which came with won ton soup, an egg roll, and fried rice. I ordered an iced tea that never came. The won tons were good, but the broth was very salty and aside from a few scallions, there were no vegetables in it. The egg roll was tasty but came with no sauce. The beef with broccoli was okay. The broccoli was fresh with a little snap to it, not mushy, which was nice. The beef was good, as well. The sauce was too salty. The fried rice was.... I've been going to Chinese restaurants my whole life and I've never seen this before. There were no vegetables in it and there were a few tiny bits of scrambled egg yolk. If not for the few bits of egg and the plain white rice on someone else's plate, I would have thought it was just plain brown rice. It was just a small scoop of barely brown and barely fried rice. It wasn't bad, but it bore almost no resemblance to fried rice, either. It wasn't very bad, but it wasn't very good, either. And as I left, the wonderful smells of Saffron, the Indian place across the parking lot, floated over the air and I knew I'd chosen poorly. The first time I came to get a pickup order from here, they took forever and they only served me after they served an older guy who had gotten there after me. The excuse the woman gave was, "if we don't serve him first, he'll complain and throw a fit. You understand, right?" We ordered a roasted duck and a twice cocked pork, which are both very traditional Chinese dishes. The roasted duck was not roasted, but deep fried. And the twice cocked pork is no where close to what it should be. Not only the pork was not from the belly, but was not sliced into pieces. This might be good in Americans taste, but it is definitely not very Chinese. I am very regretful to have dinner there, and do not recommend this to Chinese friends. I had an order delivered that consisted of General Tso's chicken, Hot & Sour soup, Crab Ragoons, and Fried Dumplings. ~~~The Delivery~~~ They gave me an estimated arrival of 45min-1hr and got here in 40 mins, which was awesome. Everyone I spoke to was really friendly. Unfortunately they charged a $4 gas fee for delivery, despite the fact that I live 1.1 miles from the restaurant. Unless they're driving a Vietnam era tank to deliver the food, there's no way they can justify charging $4 for such a short trip. Not cool ~~~The Food~~~ -The hot and sour soup is awesome, but the portion was pretty tiny -The Fried dumplings were great! -the crab ragoons were tasty, but only had a very small amount of filling. One of them had almost nothing - it was literally just a deep fried shell. -The General Tso's was terrible. It's a staple of chinese food and they completely messed it up. There's a decent amount of it, but the pieces of chicken are really small so that the vast majority of the dish is the fried breading. There wasn't that thick traditional sauce; instead, it tasted like they just poured a bunch of soy sauce over it. There was also heavily spiced with what tasted like ginger. I like ginger, but it did NOT go well with this. After two bites, I threw it out - it was completely inedible. I hate people who jump right to hyperbole, but this was in all honesty the worst General Tso's chicken I've ever eaten in my life. I don't see myself ordering from here again. Everyone I spoke to was very polite and friendly, but the food just isn't up to par and the portions were way too small - especially for what they charge. The meal I ordered was $30. The only dish that had a substantial portion was the General Tso's which was awful. Here I am, $30 lighter and still hungry. read more

I just finished eating their food, and I mean that in two way. I just ate it and threw half away uneaten, and I'm finished as in I will not be going back. I was very disappointed with how highly it had been talked up. The service was very friendly, but that was it, and that is not enough to earn you many stars. The wonton soup started with such high notes, the broth was seasoned perfectly. My wonton however was tasteless, bland, had little meat that tasted poorly, and had a horrible wonton wrapper to meat ratio. I ordered some crab ragoons, they were fine but I'm sure they are pre-made and frozen, than reheated by deep frying. I will give credit for the egg roll, which was tasty. Plus the included sauce was good and had a nice tang too it. My General Tso's chicken was really bad. The chicken was such small pieces that their was more batter in each bite than actual chicken. The sauce, which claimed to be hot and spicy, was bland, too sweet, and very mild. The carrots in it were zig zag cut like I would expect for elementary school lunches, and clearly not fresh. This was a big disappointment. And to top it all off it was a bit to expensive for the experience. read more
