Louie's has really good pizza. It's thin, square and served on plastic cafeteria trays, I believe. If it's your first time...you gotta try it. Parking can be kind of scarce, so go early and lock your doors. It's on a verge of a location that is being revitalized, but it is still in a rough neighborhood if you find yourself their after dark. Also, regarding credit cards...they only take AMEX. No kidding. So bring enough cash if you don't have an AMEX card. read more

Louie's is awesome, its food and atmosphere and the owner himself make it stand out from all the other restaurants around it. We started off with some delicious crab claws (a must have appetizer) and a Caesar salad (seasoned with what tastes to me like garlic EVOO and fresh parmesan cheese). Then we ordered the Alfredo fettuccine pasta with grilled shrimp (this one is off the menu, make sure to Chris, the owner, for this one). The grilled shrimp was my favorite! I think they were seasoned with some chipotle pepper and some salt and pepper, goes really well with the homemade Alfredo sauce. We also had their famous thin crust pizza. I love the thin crust. The marinara sauce, cheese, and toppings go well with the thin crunchy crust! And yes, Friday nights are busy but trust me, the 20 minute wait was well worth it! P.S. I 've lived in Dallas almost 20 years and never heard of this place until I saw it on Food Network. Now it is our favorite pizza place. I can never eat Pizza Hut or Papa John's again. The place is small, the parking is a pain, the wait to get a table can be endless if you go at the wrong time, but nonetheless, the thin crust pizza with homemade sausage is divine and worth it all. I'll concur with others that complain about parking, atmosphere, wait time for food / tables... Its a small, growingly popular joint. It also has the best, freshest pizza in Dallas. This is, in my educated opinion (having eaten at the best pizza places in Chicago), the best thin crust pizza in Dallas. The owners / chef are from just north of Chicago and brought authentic recipes, they make their own Chicago style sausage (as in grind it themselves), their own dough, sauce etc... they use the freshest ingredients and you can tell by how delicious the pizzas are. The Greek salads are pretty good too, the burgers are ground / made fresh to order... oh and the Mulligatawny is on the menu cuz the chef likes it and just put it on there. Came here for the pizza and was not disappointed at all! Parking looks a little rough (minimal parking in the front but there is street parking right alongside the place) but I was so pleasantly surprised by the warm and fun environment! My server was so patient and helpful to my friend and I! We ordered a bacon with mushrooms and spinach pizza to share with a "small" Caesar salad. Honestly the salad is large enough for 2 people so I can't even imagine what the actual large salad will look like. The pizza came out so piping hot and it was phenomenal!!! This place looks like it has been here forever (although the menu says that it has just been around since 1987). Been going to Louie's for a while now. The martini's are great.Best suggestion is to sit at the bar if just a couple of you. One of the best things to have if you love seafood is the clam's casino. Just a little bit of lemon & they are perfect. Also some of the best pizza in town, thin crust. PLEASE don't miss their desserts! They now take all credit cards not just American Express now. There are only 2 bathrooms which can be a bit of a challenge when they are busy. Parking well as you know if you have read any of my other reviews is a pet peeve of mind and Louie's is no exception. There is street parking and they have the small lot behind Louie's. Must to a driver's dismay in getting into that parking lot there it a cow hole. Yes a pot so big you can place a cow in it. When we showed up, we were rudely told we could not bring our 7 yr old inside as they had converted to a bar during Covid and do not allow under 21 inside, even when accompanied by a guardian. Best Pizza in Texas. Louie's has been around for 20+ years and the Pizza is simply the best around. Crispy thin crust with fresh ingredients and real cheese. This place gets busy on weekends and I would not recommend for a large group. I also don't recommend bringing kids. This place is really a bar that serves really good food. Crab claws and salads are also really good. Bartender's make a stiff pour so beware if you get over served. If you're wanting to show your friend or date a night out and just looking for something casual Louie's is a great choice. read more

I love the amount of sauce on the pizza, not too much, not too little, juuusssttt right. Gluten free crust only the small (14") pizza. The salads are big, tasty, and they do not disappoint. The salads are for sharing and the menu will also guide you to that. They do offer other items on the menu, but I've never gotten that far. The interior is small and intimate lots of red brick accents inside, and they have TV's to watch sports. A fireplace for when it's cold, and bourbon to give you the warm fuzzies. (lol) The vibe here is divey and super chill. . . .great crowd/mix of people/age groups. They do have a full bar, but this isn't much of a cocktail place. These aren't mixologist, these are old school bitchin' bartenders. Drink your bourbon neat and your beer cold and you have no problems. But if you must mix, make it simple and they will make it strong. Yes, it gets busy here (this place is awesome) so you may have to wait for a table and for food. But if you don't want to wait fine, more room for me and my friends. I like that!! Yes, the parking sucks 4-6 places out front on the sidewalk but if you're drinking you shouldn't be driving anyway. This place is awesome, I'm shocked it doesn't have more stars---come ON fellow Yelpers! This spot is a DIVE, in all the best ways, if you aren't into that scene, don't bother stopping by, this place wasn't built with you personal tastes in mind. We had a 6 top and our table had perfect service, we were there early (6:15pm on a Wednesday) so the place was empty other than the bar. We did family size large Cesar Salad, wonderful, great creamy dressing and the croutons were perfect. Then 2 large pizzas and 1 small with gluten free crust---ALL of them were perfect! Cheese was cooked perfectly, sauce was great Chicago style, right here in DTX, and then mix and match your toppings to your personal favs. I will be coming here again, and again, and AGAIN from now on! read more

Came here because my fiancé is a die hard Guy Fieri fan for some reason. He saw it on Triple D and its right next to our house. One recommendation from our landlord later and we found ourselves there for takeout on a Friday night. Bar is okay. Mostly older gentlemen with dirty ballcaps. Didn't even look at the menu, we already knew we wanted a pizza with the homemade sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms. Our landlord raved about the Greek salad so we went for it. That'll be 25 minutes. 35 dollars later we have a delicious pizza and an absolute fucking JOKE of a salad. I am shocked anyone has said anything positive about it. Literally iceberg lettuce, a couple olives, a couple cucumbers, a couple tomato wedges, and a dash of feta. FOR FOURTEEN DOLLARS! Might as well walk down the street to fireside pies and get yourself a real salad. I've never heard of a salad being 14 dollars unless it had a steak or diamonds on top. The dressing was just oil. Shake it up a little and it becomes a little snow globe of some dried flavorless herbs in a wet flavorless oil. The pizza was good. However they charge 13 dollars just to make a cheese pizza, and then we paid $3 each for their premium toppings. $20 pizza. Again, walk your ass to fireside and pay 13 for a pizza with toppings already included like a normal restaurant. One pizza and one "salad in a bag" for 35 dollars. That took 25 minutes to make. I totally imagine mob bosses making deals at a back table. That's what Louie's reminds me of. Part bar and part pizza kitchen, this is the real deal when it comes to great places to hang out. Real bar, not one of these places trying to look like a dive bar to attract the trendy uptowners trying to look like downtowners. And it's not a dive. It's just a real bar, though some of the tables are charmingly wobbley. Real pizza--some of the best thin crispy crust pizza in town. Quality toppings. The large will run you $12 with $2 a topping. I think. I have had my share of favorites, but this tops them all. Real BIG salads--a small easily feeds two folks easily. And yes, that means two of me and I eat a huge amount of food. Real people--meaning you will see everyone in Louie's. From the folks adding up change to pay the bill to celebrities. I'm pretty sure that was Pat Summerall at the back table. Louie's has all the trappings of a good dive without any of the hipness of a good dive. I got the feeling that this place has been around for quite some time and you would expect it to be full of regulars, ala Cheers. The crowd was mixed; from Highland Park soccer moms to the Uptown crowd to some old timers who looked like they had never gotten up off their bar stool. The decor was varied memorabilia on the wall, old tables and chairs, and that's about it. I thought it was odd that there was no jukebox music playing; the only sounds was from the baseball game playing on the tv's and people conversing at their tables. Yeah, the pizza is pretty good but when you have to wait 30 minutes for it it better be damn good! Or the atmosphere better make up for it. I've had better thing crust pizza elsewhere, like Eno's. I FINALLY made it to Louie's. It is literally 1/4 of a mile from my place and we have been wanting to try it forever!!! ATMOSPHERE: dark, small, loud, old. Loved. THE PIZZA: thin crust. Each topping has a charge. It was pretty tasty. THE MILLER LITES: sold in a can THE CLIENTELE: big groups, families, and random older couples mugging down in the corner over a glass of wine and a pie. Slightly awkward. THE GREEK SALAD: big enough to share, Tasty dressing. Needed more olives. Plenty of feta. THE SERVICE: horrendous. Truly terrible. Only acceptable if you plan on a leisurely dinner or if you enjoy asking for a beer 3 times. THE PRICE: shockingly high. For 3 people we got 2 miller lites ( $3.50 for a can!?!) and a Michelob Ultra ( for $5!!!!), a salad we split, ($8) one large pizza- 1/2 pineapple, 1/2 pepperoni and mushroom ( $18) and a small pizza with 3 toppings ($12). Grand total of $50. I thought that was steep for a pizza place! THE VERDICT: I will be back when I am not in a hurry or I will order to go. We came here on Saturday evening at 10:30pm. This was our first time here. We ordered 2 drinks. Martini and a Deep Eddy's and soda. This is where things went south: No they don't have Deep Eddy's! So the chubby guy wearing glasses pours an absolute vodka and soda. My girl thought it tastes extremely bad and returned it immediately asking only for soda water. He was a bit put back and even offered me that drink and I denied it. So he threw it away. Well he charged us $17.50 for two drinks!! That is NOT customer service! AND he continued charging me even though I brought it up. Sorry buddy, you lost loads of money over a long time for just a stupid $8.00 charge. He is not a bartender. I would like to consider Louie's to be a little hole in the wall type place since the outside of the restaurant isn't very inviting and the inside has an old feel to it. I was introduced to Louie's about 1 year ago when a friend and I were craving pizza. I remember us having a really nice waitress, even though she possessed an extremely casual and rebellious side to her. We started the night off with a few cocktails and a Caesar Salad. The salad was so big that it could have easily been shared with more than two people. There was a bit too much dressing to my liking; however, it still had a great flavor that I enjoyed. We then shared a pepperoni pizza, and it was greasy and delicious. I can't believe I am putting the two words of "greasy" and "delicious" in the same sentence, but it was just that. The pizza had a really good flavor to it, and I wish I didn't feel so guilty after taking each bite from the guilty meal. If you're looking for an extremely casual, "bar type" restaurant, then this is a good place to come. read more

I've stayed away from Louie's for awhile. After last night it might be another while before I go back. First, they tried to give us someone else's pizza. However, since I wasn't at Louie's for the glowing charm of the servers, the mistake was overlooked. However, since our pizza was fairly lackluster, it didn't help. Part of the problem was that I ordered mushrooms and got canned mushrooms. Canned mushrooms make me want to have a crying fit. Just not good. It's made worse when the cook thinks he's doin' you a favor by giving you extra. In the past when getting the pizza I always thought the first few bites of crust were nice and crunchy but that it got soggy rather quickly. My friend recommended I get it extra crispy. That was a great rec. The crispyness I like was present much longer. Another plus was that we went mid week. It was very relaxed and not the typical scene I was used to at 9 pm on a Friday. OMG, we sooooo just loved our first experience at Louie's. On the recommendation of a good friend, and of course, other Yelp reviews, BF and I have been dying to give Louie's a try, salivating over the thought of a Greek Salad and their acclaimed pizza. We were not disappointed. Arrived around 1700 on Saturday and were promptly seated, and greeted by friendly server, Tiffany. She could have not been more attentive. Drinks arrived quickly, order taken and we settled back with our libations to enjoy the evening. And thus we did! The Greek Salad, which we split, was delicious; more than enough for two. The dressing was so tasty, could have licked my bowl. Our pizza, with pepperoni, black olives, garlic, tomatoes & onions, was possibly some of the best pizza we have enjoyed anywhere. Typically, I am a fan of a thicker crust, but Louie's changed my mind. The crust....to die for! And a large was REALLY large. The sauce was soooo yummy, toppings were generous, and it came out piping hot. We took half of it back to our hotel for a late night snack. (We were staying at the Melrose for a quick getaway from our daily Dallas house routines!) Pizza was completely gone before midnight !! Almost even better cold! Unlike several of other reviews, our service was outstanding; quick, efficient and very friendly. We were in and out under an hour and by the time we left, the place was packed with folks waiting at the door to be seated. A wonderful first time experience and impression. Two stars because it's not a bar like I thought and have not tried the food. After Libertine we stopped at Louie's it was about 11p, there was a lady outside who told us the kitchen was closed. We said it didn't matter since we were not planning to eat, but she mentioned it again and I thought, what is the big deal? Once we were in, the place was DEAD, there was one table occupied and the bartender said the kitchen is closed. So is this a bar or a restaurant??? I was very confused because from outside it looks like a really cool dive bar but disappointment was waiting for me inside.
