First timer here for breakfast. Found it on Yelp, so I thought I'd give it a try. They required masks upon entering. They had sanitizer at the front desk. All the waiters & waitresses wore masks. Now the food. Their menu has a lot to offer for breakfast & lunch. I decided to try their South if the Border eggs Benedict. It was great!! Tons of flavor. Had the home potatoes instead of has browns. Very tasty. My husband had a very basic breakfast-eggs, sausage patty, hash browns & toast. Even though the sausage patty wasn't a homemade one, he said it had great flavor. The decor has pics of all the Hollywood favorites from back in the day. We stayed a mile from here and this is definitely a perfect spot for a quick breakfast! I have to say that pancakes are fantastic! They are also huge, so ordering two is plenty! It's a down-home kind of place that offers something for everyone. Emphasis is on value, consistent traditional breakfast and lunch dishes, and quick service. For folks in San Diego, it's a bit like Broken Yolk. I watched the matron of the business and the servers and they all seem to run a tight ship. I wasn't sure about getting a avocado crab omelette in the middle of the desert, but I went for it because a few reviews raved about it. Avocado, omelette, crab (yes it was pretty fresh!) and hollandaise, what a wickedly good (and probably heart attack inducing) combo. This can NOT be good for all the old ppl dining here... Had breakfast there the other day and really enjoyed the restaurant. The outside of the restaurant looks like a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. The food is very good. Hubby and I celebrated our first breakfast of the 2018 year at a restaurant we had been wanting to try for years. The host and our server were very personable and greeted us with a warm welcome. It was a packed house on New Years Day, so speaking of my visit, the noise level was moderate. The crowd was elderly and those around me were speaking fairly loud to hear each other. One of the elderly couple next to me had a phone that kept ringing and ringing and ringing. At one time the man even looked at his phone because he thought it was ringing but then said, "I thought I heard my phone ring." Then, another elderly man came up to them and said "I've been calling you. I called you three times." lol The first man said... "Oh! I didn't hear the phone. I was wondering when you were coming." I ordered the choice between bacon, sausage or ham steak breakfast. I sub'd for egg whites but the reg comes with 3 eggs. I got sausages, hash browns, toast and jam; a side of avocado. My meal was filling - there was tons of food. I couldn't finish it all. Although the portions were huge, it was bland out the gate - and I mean super bland like a no-salt-diet-meal-plan-at-a-hospital bland. They did have salt, pepper, Tabasco and ketchup at the table so I was able to doll up my food. I just didn't feel it should have been absolutely necessary to add my own flavoring - which is why I gave my experience an A-OK rating. My first experience was a bit disappointing. However, I would still recommend this place for others to try. Many people seem to like it quite a bit and I always hear good things about their food. It just wasn't what I expected it to be. I'm sure I'll be back to try something else. Maybe at that time my review will change. read more
