But trust me, you want to try this place if you like good homemade Cajun food prepared by happy and proud staff. I visited this location for the first time. We were greeted by Carmen who was super friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed her happiness and positive energy.. My fiancé and I shared a large shrimp gumbo and a fried catfish and shrimp platter with dirty rice and onion rings on the side. Everything we had was beyond yummy and made from scratch. The breading on the shrimp and catfish was particularly tasty seasoned but not too salty. The onion rings may have been the best I've ever had! All of this food for $34 plus tip! Very affordable!! I don't know how they do it! The serving size was generous and we couldn't finish everything. The place was exceptionally clean and the restrooms were spotless! Conclusion: I love this place and will be back many, many more times for the food that is made with care, love and pride. One downside (sort of) is that they do not serve alcohol. The location is in a strip mall, which doesn't look nice, but the inside is very clean and well maintained. I had a small gumbo which was a nice start to my meal. I am a big guy and I wasn't sure if the 3 shrimp and 2 catfish would be enough food for me, but I had leftovers! The cocktail sauce for the shrimp was spicy and complimented the 3 large shrimp. The roumalade was obviously fresh and worked well with the catfish. The only negatives were the 20 minute drive from Conroe and the unattractive strip mall. Came the two of us for dinner. Been here twice so far and both experiences have been consistent. This place has quickly made it onto our starting list of regular places to eat and places to take friends. We ordered: Side of Medium Hushpuppies ($3.99) I love their hushpuppies! They come out super crunchy on the outside and very soft and warm on the inside. These aren't the hush puppies that are premade and have been sitting there for hours. These are very freshly fried and the flavors are exciting. They have some sort of cornmeal with corn and veggie (I think zuchhini or maybe jalapeno?) mix on the inside. They also come with a pink sauce which you can either use or not use. I prefer without the sauce. Caution, they do come out hot! And a medium comes with 8 huge balls. Crawfish Etouffee ($13.49) This was on point as well. A large amount of Etouffee with a good amount of crawfish scattered throughout on top of a ball of rice. This dish also comes with three giant pieces nicely toasted garlic bread. Loved this dish. Shrimp and Redfish Combo ($13.99) There was a skewer of 4 grilled fish on top of a grilled redfish. I got this dish with a side of green beans and jambalaya. The entree also came with a piece of garlic bread. I'm not a huge fan of redfish in general, but this place did a great job with it. Took an otherwise boring fish (in my opinion) and spiced it up. The shrimp were cooked and seasoned well. Loved the jambalaya, which I highly recommend as a side. To top off great food, service is one of the best I've had. The lady who took our order and gave us our food is just the sweetest. I saw a photo next to the register of New Orleans redfish, I ordered that with steamed veggies and rice. The food delivered looked better than the photo! The redfish was cooked perfectly. Wow. So unexpected. I'm a Cajun food lover and always looking for that good good. This place is inconspiculously tucked in the middle of a tiny shopping center. It looks like a 1980's throwback but THE FOOD is LEGIT! We were going to take it to go but spent 10 minutes shoving this piping hot deliciousness down because we were on a tight schedule. I ordered on door dash Catfish was fresh hot well seasoned but too Spicy for my 9 yr old. The onion rings are huge great flavor but not even warm. Over all not bad though I'd order again. The oysters however which was what I ordered not so good. I do not like the batter. It's more like a breadcrumb like Sonics stuffed jalapeños. It's hard and just not a fresh seafood batter . They were big though and hot but lacked salt and the breading was hard . Just didn't enjoy them at all. I added five jumbo shrimp to my order and they left that off so that's disappointing however door dash did credit it back with ease. When I was providing my credit card for payment I asked the woman attendant to apply a 10% tip. She told me tip was minimum 15%. I had driven quite a distance to try the place for the 1st time so I was surprised when informed of minimum tip amount. Later I noticed on receipt they also charged a service fee. Mixed vegetable dish very skimpy with spinach. Fried redfish and shrimp were dry and uneventful. Tarter sauce boring. Jambalaya rice only redeeming factor for food. Oysters were terrible. I love this place! It is in an unassuming strip center. The staff is always really friendly. My husband and I usually share the seafood fondue and the seafood platter. The fondue only comes with two pieces of garlic bread, I wish it were more, but it is delicious. The seafood platter comes with three fried shrimp, two pieces of catfish, two chicken tenders, a boudin ball, a crab stuffed jalapeno, a piece of garlic bread (which comes in handy with the fondue), and two sides (we get french fries and onion rings. Everything is seasoned really well, and I really like their tarter and remoulade sauces. We usually can't finish everything, it's a lot of food. This restaurant is in regular rotation when we want to go out to eat. It's never been very busy when we've been, so social distancing is not a problem, everyone wears masks, and they are routinely sanitizing. read more

The catfish varied in thickness thin to thick and the batter was so so.. The hush puppies were slightly over cooked and sweet.. and a little lacking in corn meal.... And the cole slaw was great but it too but it had a sweet taste as well... as if a pinch of sugar was added. Overall, the pasta and ettoufee dishes were spot on, the fried food could be raised a notch ( in blend and texture of batter). For catfish, there are some better in the area. 5 stars! This place slays "yardhouse" in city center. I had yardhouses version of Cajun pasta yesterday and it sucked. It was like 20.00 small portion, no sauce, hardly any meat. Not much flavor. I ordered the blackened redfish, green beans, red beans & rice, and stuffed jalapeños. I really enjoyed the meal, fish was seasoned perfectly, green beans were lightly seasoned but great, and the red beans & rice were probably the best I've ever had. The only thing that I did not like was the stuffed jalapeños. They are very large and the batter is good however, the flavor and stuffing was very bland. Way too much bread stuffing. I'd prefer more cheese or meat inside. I noticed someone else complained about the blandness so maybe they should tweak their recipe a little.
