Visited the Stockyards and decided to grab lunch while we were there. I'm a burger lover and we decided to try Love Shack. Big disappointment. Huge. The selection of burgers is very small, but I thought the Dirty Love burger sounded pretty good. First of all, the patty was super thin. If I get a burger, I wanna taste the meat. Secondly, it had a weird, sweet flavor. I'm thinking it was the Love sauce? Thirdly, it was topped with a quail egg that was overcooked. Quail eggs are already tiny, so with it being overcooked, I didn't even notice an egg being on it. Basically, the Love Shack is just a step above a fast food burger.....maybe....on second thought, I've had fast food burgers that were better. If you want a good burger don't stop here. Cash Only mofos. The location is a real pain in the ass to get to...But if you're already in the stock yards this is a good place to grab something quick. I had heard that this place is always crazy busy and the wait time for food is long- but we had friends already eating there so we asked them to order for us. By the time we arrived our food was already on the table. I had the love burger w/ no onions and we split an order of fries. The burger was okay. The fried egg was over hard so it wasn't very appetizing and I pulled that off. The fries are shoe string and were tasty. I feel like 4 of us could have shared them- not 2. Since there wasn't a ton of people there and most of them were upstairs the staff decided to flip tables and chairs a sweep the whole floor. Love Shack - Burgers Near Me - Fort Worth, Texas

Love Shack is a unique, little (as in only a few tables), very laid back restaurant built between two historic buildings. It's multi-level, deck-style, outdoors-only seating and they have those misting machines that blow fine water mist everywhere (cannot stand them because it's like heavy blankets of humidity.... and mist does bad things to my hair... but I realize I'm in the minority there :-) ) to keep you cool. They also have ceiling fans so the Texas summers in this outdoors-only location are bearable. You order at a counter and they bring it out to your table - there are no waiters. The restrooms are shared by men and women - so I don't enjoy that. You men need to get it together - y'all are messy when you pee! Ha! And the bathrooms reek of pee. Last time I went I didn't even feel comfortable enough to attempt the hover method as even the floor had pee puddles and was worse than a porta-potty. Staff doesn't do a great job of maintaining the bathrooms. But aside from that...... ;-) ........ My favorite time to visit Love Shack is on a Friday afternoon.. it's awesome to blow off work and go sit on their patio with a good burger and a beer. It's not too crowded and they always have live music Friday afternoons, too. Their "regular" singer is Brad Hines and he is really good - he plays a lot of Texas country covers and has a great voice. Check their website before you go so you can see who is playing and the times they go on stage. Their menu consists of hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches, beer, and a few other little things mixed in. The burgers are pretty good... not as good as my favorite Fort Worth burger joint, Rodeo Goat, but they're good. The patties are on the thinner side, so I always order a double meat burger -- because I love food. And because I don't feel like being hungry again in an hour. The fries are pretty boring - natural cut, but no seasoning and very thin. Meh... :-/ For a restaurant owned by the famous Chef Tim Love, I would expect a little more but I haven't been impressed by his food at his other restaurants either. **** IMPORTANT **** They are CASH ONLY. Going by Tim Love's reputation, I expected a decent burger. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. My wife and I each got a Love burger, which was basically a cheese burger. We shared an order of fries. First, it took 45 minutes to get our food. OK, there was live music by Brad Hines, by still, parties that arrived after us got their food first. The burger was fast food quality, at best, served to us in a take out bag instead of a basket or tray. It was pretty boring. The fries were hand cut, but limp and greasy. Everything was just awful. When we arrived we were the only people there so it's not like they were busy. We ordered the special hamburger and an order of fries to share - large, unfortunately. The burgers were on the verge of being burned with very little sauce. The fries weren't hot and were the farthest thing from crisp. Everything was over priced and really just plain bad. It's sad; we ate there several years ago and it was terrific. I don't think we'll be going back. read more

I had guests in town and wanted to show them the stockyards and eat a fabulous burger. I didn't think I could go wrong eating at a Tim Love eatery ... Was I ever wrong. After spending 20 minutes finding parking, to get there and finding out that they are cash only in 2016 was a shocker along with the $4 fee to get money from the conveniently located atm machine. We all had the signature burger and another shocker ... Nothing special. It's kinda embarrassing to brag about the good food in Texas and eat at a place that was so lackluster and inconvenient. there's nothing better than having a burger as the breeze hits you with that nice stockyards smell. my hubby and i went here on a weekend since its had such great reviews. paid 5 bucks for parking. booooo!! the place wasn't busy at all. i completely forgot it was cash only, luckily, we had 20 bucks on us and that was good enough for lunch. i ordered the love burger and hubby orders the dirty love burger. the burger was a little small. the dirty love burger was pretty tasty though. the downside to our meal was the french fries. they were more like crispy sticks of potatoes. unfortunately, we also order the parmesan chips, which was pretty bold in flavor. i was really hoping for some great fries. most likely won't be going back. read more

The food here was sadly disappointing. The group of girls I went with raved about their burgers and fries. The burgers were meh. I've had better at home. The fries were too greasy and too thin. I've given this place two chances. Only thing I can say is that it's the most overrated place and that list included Campisi's in Dallas. We almost didn't eat here because of the negative reviews. We chose to see for ourselves and were really really glad that we did, and here's why. We had realistic expectations. If you go expecting to sit inside in the a/c with celebrity chef Tim Love to greet you at the door and personally cook you a burger that will make you younger, lose weight and be the single greatest burger in the southern hemisphere, and pay with a credit card or personal check, then get ready to be severely disappointed. If you are not afraid tp pay in cash, or to eat outside (where bugs do exist) in a Swiss-Family-Robinson-esk setup of tiered decking in the historic stockyard district, then give it a shot and you will get to enjoy a really great burger. Not the greatest of all time that will ruin all burgers for you forever, but just a great burger with a few twists and some really cold beer (if you drink). We got to hear some live music as well and sat on the top tier with the bustle of the stockyard visitors on one side and a great rendition of "Fire and Rain" (James Taylor) on the other. The table was wobbly, two flies had to be shooed away, it was a little chilly out, and we had to pay 5$ to park...And we had a really great time and loved the food. One green chile guacamole burger with the chile parmesan chips, one dirty love burger with bacon and onion rings, and one cold shiner. 30$ for the whole day (parking included). Visiting my folks from Georgia, I decided to make my own personal burger tour of the DFW area. This was stop #6. After doing my research, I decided that Saturday would be the best time to visit. My folks & I ordered at the counter and were given a number block for our table. We sat near the stage a listened to the live music, not bad, so far. They were averagely busy, but no one was eating at the lower picnic tables ( just drinking beer & enjoying the music). 15 minutes and no food. "Wow", I thought, "these must be some great burgers". 20 minutes, no food. 30 minutes, nope. At this point, there were about 10 people in line at the front & the girls up there didn't have the time to talk to me, I guess. After 45 minutes, the food arrived...in a to go bag! REALLY?! 45 minutes for a fast food burger that cost $7! This better be the best burger on the f-ing planet, but sadly it was not. The burger was barely warm, the quail egg wasn't sunny at all (broken yolk & hard, rubbery cooked). The burger looked nothing like I expected. The fries were cold, literally cold. Who is there to bring any of this to their attention? I couldn't find them. Nobody stopped by to see if everything was ok. Since I've been in town, I've eaten burgers at Rodeo Goat, Twisted Root, Mooyah, LA Burger, & a gas station. This has to be below everything except the gas station. Delicious! Got the Dirty Love Burger with bacon, cheese and fried quail egg. Definitely a unique burger with the brisket and sirloin blend. Wasn't really a fan of the fries which were more like potato shavings. And lemonade is pretty weak. We waited pretty long for our food on a Saturday afternoon, but that gave us time to get a table since seating is pretty limited. There was live music playing when we were there, so it was really nice to sit at the picnic tables in front of the stage. Oh, and cash only! read more

Love the Burger, Hate the Shack! Everyone else has done a great job describing the burger, so let me add that I did have an unbelievably good milk shake. At first, I was annoyed to be told that they only have 1 flavor each day. C'mon! How hard is it to have at least 2-3?!?!? But, they're keeping it simple, probably becauase it is definately a shack. Not much room for extra ingredients, I guess. Anyway, the flavor of the day was chocolate mint, which I accepted with some skepticism. Typically not a fan of mint, or any artificial flavor. However to my delight, they used real fresh mint leaves! I'd never had anything like it anywhere. The intensity of the chocolate was perfect and very authentic as well. I doubt they using hershey's syrup in there! So I'd say this is definately one of the best shakes you can get anywhere. So, while I'm not a fan of the shack environment--couldn't find a clean table anywhere--I would definately reccomend buying their burgers, fries, and shakes, and continuing to walk around the stockyards instead. Besides, if you're walking around, it's less likely that you'll get that yummy love sauce from the burgers on your shirt! read more

I had bought beer from here a few times since it is perfectly positionted as a little storefront to pick up a drink while you walk around (cash only! there is an ATM right outside but their fee plus my bank's fee was over $5!) We had also gotten onion rings as a snack once and they were really tasty onion straws (I wish they allowed you to pay an extra dollar and add the onion rings to the combo, a whole order is $6!) The fries are eh, not very crispy and oddly flat. But yesterday I finally had a burger and it was really good! I wa very pleased with my Dirty Love burger but it was weird how the girl working there made sure to mention (when my friend ordered the reggie Love burger) that the Dirty Love was #17 on the Texas Monthly best burger list and had been featured in Playboy. #17 is just not the most impressive sounding number, saying it was "featured" on the list would sound alot better. And Playboy? Not really where I go for my restaurant info. Regardless, it was very tasty, especially the egg and bacon combo. The quail egg is a cute idea but it's so small that you can't get egg in every bite, a normal egg would work just as well (but not sound as cute!) The bacon was REALLY tasty and perfectly crisp, the meat was flavorful and the right thickness. I take issue with the use of shredded lettuce, I think a nicer hamburger deserves leaf lettuce, the weak little pale green shards didn't stand a chance against all that was going on in that burger. I don't like how they upsell you on a fry dipping sauce, especially since the BBQ sauce was way too thin (for dipping purposes, it would be fine for BBQ) and vinigary. They just ask if you want a sauce but they don't tell you they cost $.92! Obviously, this $1 did not kill me but it was a little shady. This was my first visit to the stockyard location of Tim Love's Love Shack. This burger shack is based on the old school burger joints, where you order at one window and pickup at another. I ordered the Dirty Love Burger which comes with a quail egg on it. There were was no wait staff, but there is a large condiment packet supply of ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc. The burger and fries were really good, but not anything super special. It's a cool place, but it's not one of the best burgers I have had in the metroplex. I would definitely go back to the Love Shack if I happened to be in the area, but I would not make a special trip. I'd rather go around the corner and eat at Tim Love's higher end restaurant Lonesome Dove. Ambiance-3 stars, Food-3 stars, Service-(at the order and pickup window)-3 stars. read more

If your walking through the Stockyards this is a cash only burger joint next door to the White Elephant Saloon...All in all, it is place that I would not go out of my way for, but would stop in if I was partying in the Stockyards and had some cash on me for some quick eats... BURGERS: When I went I had the "Dirty Love". This is their traditional Love Burger with a fried quail egg on the patty which is supposed to highlight the flavor of the meat. I found the patty lacked seasoning and the quail egg is definitely an acquired taste. It seems I will need to try it several times to grow into it... SIDES- I had their fries and onion rings. So I heard a lot about this place and decided to visit before a nearby concert. Boy was I disappointed!! The burger was small, dry, and without flavor. The meat was nothing to brag about and we waited 25 minutes for it. I would take a Whataburger over this place any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Sorry Chef but it is what it is. Dirty Love Burger lived up to the hype. Soft, cake-like bun. Great-tasting beef, and the tiny, fried quail egg added just enough creaminess. I was more surprised, however, at how good the nachos were. Good ol' fashioned queso poured over the chips, freshly-grilled chicken and shredded Asiago on top, with a small side of quac, pico, and fresh jalapenos.
