So my boyfriend and I got some Love gift cards and we have been to lonesome dove and woodshed together so we thought love shack would make a fun low key date! Things to know before you head to love shack! You will have to pay at least $5 for parking in the stock yard. Love shack is cash or gift card only! The restaurant is in an old ally! All outside!!! And in the Texas summer it doesn't matter how many fans you have ITS HOT!! The food and drinks are over priced and mediocre. I got the chicken strips and wow! THEY WERE TINY!!!! Surprisingly good little place. Hidden in an alley by the much larger White Elephant, this is your basic burger shack. But the burger was nicely peppery, and the onion rings fabulous, among the best we've ever had. Seating is all outdoors, nicely shaded, but marred by loud country music (move upstairs for slightly less volume). If you are visiting the old stockyards, definitely check it out. read more

Slowest place I've ever been to. Monday around 12:30, but not many people there at all. There were maybe around 6 other parties at tables, none of them with food. Once they called an order, those people would fully finish eating and leave before the next order was called. We order two hamburgers and fries. Took 45 minutes. We were excited to try Love Shack on a day date but we were less than impressed. I thought I ordered a bacon avocado burger and received Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato on a bun. My husband went to ask if the forgot the avocado and patty and they gave him a side of guacamole and said the it did not come with a burger. The bun was dry and stale. I got the Dirty Love. It's a pretty damn good burger, not the best in the world but not bad by any means. I left satisfied, would definitely get it again. It being my first time to the Love Shack I had no clue that it was completely open air. I was wearing jeans and it was July 31st...so it was effin hot. They have fans with misters which help but in 95 degree Texas heat they can only help so much. One thing to note is that it is CASH ONLY, there are signs everywhere and an ATM right next to the counter so it shouldn't ever be a problem. I didn't get fries or onion rings so I can't comment on those. I'll definitely be back, should be an awesome Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer-night hangout but I'd pass on going again for lunch mid-summer. read more

This place was great! We moseyed in on a Tuesday while visiting Fort Worth and found the beer refreshing and reasonably priced for the area. Actually, all the prices were super fair for being in such a touristy spot -- $2.73 for a hot dog? Awesome! We enjoyed sitting on the top floor of Love Shack and looking down on Exchange. For our second beer, we got it to go and were able to walk around Exchange with no problem. That was cool...felt like Las Vegas! We browsed some shops and were generally in a good mood. We always seem to end up here when we stop by the stockyards ....We just can't seem to figure out why. I guess because it's so darn easy to pop in and they are always so nice. You kinda feel like you're eating in a tree house and that's pretty fun. They have a good beer selection and the live music is nice. (FYI- "I want to shoot you in the ass with a BB gun" is our new favorite tune ) The only downside is that the food is just kind of "meh." Double cheeseburger was fine, the chicken wings were SERIOUSLY not delicious and the thin cut fries were ok (in an "I really don't like thin cut fries"kind of way). I think I must have gone in with too high expectations because of knowing Tim Love is associated with the restaurant and seeing some other reviews. Supposedly their burgers are a 50 / 50 combo of prime tenderloin and prime brisket, which made me expect a whole lot of more flavors. I ordered the double Love Burger which was good but a little overdone. Maybe the Texas heat also affected the cook so the burger got so overdone. I went here with my girlfriend without reading too many reviews on yelp since we were going to the fort worth stockyards for an educational visit. It was late march and little did I know that this place was two storeyed but also open air too. I tried the chef special burger which was a cheese burger with peanut butter and bacon and some fried onions. There isn't too much that can go wrong with this burger and so I don't want to elaborate further. My girlfriend got a tortilla wrap sandwich with guacamole and she said she liked it. We also shared a portion of the large fries and that was it. This place is definitely more welcoming when the weather is warmer, but in case you'll wanna make money during the more cooler seasons consider getting some heat on the different levels of your patio. This is not one of my favorite places to go for when I'm craving a burger but I'll take it when I'm low on cash and wanna eat something when in that part of town. Don't waste your time, money, patience or palette. And certainly don't use the restrooms; a Portapotty is a better alternative. First, it was not busy. We waited way too long for a couple of burgers and fries. They are haphazard about calling numbers, so what happens is once your food is ready in 40 minutes, it will sit there until you go up and ask about the status of your order. Then, when you get back to your table with your food you'll notice that they shorted you 1 of 2 burgers. When you go up to the window and point out that the order is wrong, the staff actually has the audacity to act like it's your faull to the point that you will likely exchange unpleasant words with the staff. They did fix the order immediately, but it wasn't without a lot of lip and a not so gentle toss of the burger at me when it was done. Tim Love should be ashamed. read more

CASH ONLY LOCATION For an $8 combo (small) at a burger joint I'm expecting certain things (mostly taste and value). The Love Shack barely fulfills one of the two (taste). I went for the signature burger (The Love Burger), the patty was cooked well (medium well), and I loved the bun they used. But where was the Love Sauce (LOL)? I could taste it, but it was almost nonexistent. I personally enjoyed the fries (cut flat, and almost no salt), they had almost a soft Lay's potato chip taste. (don't trust the companies website pictures, they are not crinkle cut fries) The value... look at the picture I provided (with the ketchup packet in it). The burger is about the size of a Wendy's value burger (but with slightly more meat) and the combo includes a small fries and small drink ($8). The atmosphere, on a nice day the location is wonderful (as long as you don't mind music). The dining area is between two buildings (with no roof) and above the kitchen (with a roof) (see pictures included). The service... well, don't expect too much. You order your meal, wait about 10-15 mins. (not a quick burger, and it wasn't very busy when I went), and receive a bag of food. The girls working there seemed to be going through the paces (not rude, but didn't look like they loved being there). I suggest looking up the musical acts before going, and trying to eat there when the weather is nice and someone is playing (the acoustics are great in this place). Nothing fancy here, just burgers, soda, beer and a signboard with the menu on the sidewalk. Talk about great atmosphere! We took our order number to an open spot (hard to find with a popular place like the Love Shack) and waited. And waited. But it was totally worth the wait. Flat, crispy fries and thin onion rings - both seasoned with rosemary. The Love Burger was one of the best I've ever tasted! Seriously. Rich, meaty, well seasoned. I ordered a Boom-Boom burger - portabello with lettuce, tomato and love sauce. Yum! The restaurant isn't really a kid-friendly place (some of the live singer's lyrics were definitely not appropriate for young ears). Love Shack in the Stockyards is an adorable little beer garden of sorts. Balconies, decks and open air courtyards riddle the place and it just gives off a trendy, fun, party environment. Chef Tim Love once reigned king with three locations of this place and was the talk of Fort Worth. While the hype has died down, I still do love this location, atmosphere AND the food. It's a very good, consistent burger topped off with some delicious Love Sauce and plenty of beer to go around, what could go wrong? They've also got options for vegetarians and non-red meat eaters, which I typically don't go for, but these are very acceptable and taste great! Dirty Bird is my favorite burger. (Chanting) Try it. Two thumbs down for this horrible place. I went there for lunch on July 24th. I sat at the bar instead of eating outside - those are the two choices. The bartender gave me terrible service. I got the hamburger because he said they were the best in the state. The hamburger pattie was paper thin and was horrible. The bartender mostly ignored me. I got a glass of tea to drink. The tea came in a small plastic 6 oz cup. I had to flag the bartender down to get a refill and when he finally brought it - he charged me another $2.50 for a second small cup of ice tea. Tim Loves Loveshack is a stockyard staple, easily over looked to passersby. Not only is it the best place to grab a burger in the stockyards, but the prices won't hurt your wallet. The burgers are the epitome of what a juicy, messy, non-apologetic burger should taste like. The "shack" is nestled beside the white elephant saloon, where you can enjoy your burger inside if the weather is not agreeable. The main attraction though is outside, amidst the fray of both tourists and locals walking about Fort Worth's Historic Stock Yards, as you sit perched up on the top level of the deck. I'll be the first to say that this isn't a fancy boutique burger, and I've found better flavor elsewhere. Despite this, I've found myself returning to this spot multiple times for a good bite. The burgers are flavorful, and full of attitude that'll bring you back. I'd recommend the Dirty Love Burger to a first time diner.
