This place has great vegetarian pho! The soup taste like the real thing, even better IMO. I am not a fan of pho but Loving Hut has changed my mind. The meat isn't close to the real thing but it is very tasty and flavorful. It has a close to meat taste but different texture. I like that they give you bean sprouts and proper sauces for your pho... Inside a mall. The noodles are very delicious and pick up a lot of flavor from the soup. I must warn... The soup is really hot. You can't eat it right away. I normally feel sick after eating pho but since this place doesn't use meat or msg, I feel full and happy. The people that work here are very nice and kind. What was suppose to be a quick snack here, turned out to be a delicious full meal. I cannot believe how amazing the vermicelli noodles taste! It's pretty darn close to the real deal with the mint and herbs to the lemongrass marinated faux meat on a skewer topped with peanuts. I split my meal in half since I was seriously looking for a snack and it held up well until dinner time. Even if you don't get the food here, their shakes look amazing. I like this place because you don't see that many vegetarian places at a mall. Vermicelli Delicacy - It's your typical vermicelli bowl if you order it at a vietnamese restaurant but with soy proteins that look like slices of meat. You can get this anywhere! Patty Melt - Vegan Cheese, Soy Patty with Onion and a side of fries. The fries were soggy with oil so that was unpleasant. However, the sandwich itself was not too bad. I love this location BUT they need to get more organized. I ordered take out and waited an hour while going up to check on my order 2-3 times within the hour just to find out that the cashier gave my order away on accident. What I did not appreciate was her attitude towards the situation, she blamed it on the chefs in the back and how she can't understand them, and they don't speak English well is what she said. So I asked if she can let her manager know to give me a call, which they haven't. Please do not blame your mistake on the chefs. Every ticket has a number, train your employees better, it's not right blaming other people for your mistake. read more

I want to start off by saying I am not a vegetarian or a vegan, I am definitely a meat lover. I figured since I love Pho I would try the spicy soup here. I ordered to go, it ended up being $8.06, which was pretty darn expensive for the amount of food I got. I got home and began to eat. It was still hot so that was good. Broth was kind of greasy which I wasn't expecting from a vegan restaurant, oh well. I began eating and came across things I didn't know existed, some decent, and some I wish they did not exist. I kept eating, the fake beef was a good attempt, and then I stumbled across dog or cat food???? I don't know what it was but it was disgusting. Then I came across a sea plant from spongebob, I didn't know whether to eat it or just look at it. So I took a bite, it was hmmm.... interesting. Overall, it was decent. This was my first experience at vegetarian restaurant (I'm not a vegetarian, but was traveling with the friend who is). We stopped by for dinner. All dishes were very tasty. Hot and sour soup was done as a Thai version, I guess (it was clear, as opposed to the Chinese version) - very nice. Keep in mind that all the dishes are quite large. When I feel guilty about not being vegan, I head to Loving Hut and feel more lovable. The food quality is excellent with great flavor; just beware, it all comes out piping hot! Every dish I've had has been delicious and fresh. The only things that take away from the experience: location being at the end of the mall and not near the food court, the limited number of dirty tables (not their fault), the fact that there is a rewards system but you have to remind them if you feel like dealing with it, and the plastic utensils section is very cheap (the big straws for boba teas are not wrapped and sit with the rest of the items out in the open). My GF who works at the mall brought me "GOLDEN TOFU" from Loving Hut a few weeks back. I wasn't too excited to get it until i took a bite into it, i was so amazed. Ever since I have eaten there 3 times (im no mall rat!) and i really love this place! I'm not vegetarian but trust me, you dont have to be one to enjoy this place (infact i LOVE meat [sorry!]). The selections on the menu is rather small but, they did just open recently. The shop itself is very nice especially for a mall place and their service is SOOO good, they are so nice and kind here! Another thing i really love about this place is its originality apart from the typical places to eat at malls, especially with obesity these days, people don't need anymore fast food joints seriously. Oh and another thing, i think its so cute/cool how they aren't located in the actual food court, yet decided to setup their own seating up front, they even bring you out your food! As a vegan there aren't usually too many food options in a given area. So finding this place was great. It's basically a Thai Vegan food place. The food is great and the menu is pretty expansive as they have lots of sandwich options as well. It's in a mall, not my favorite thing in the world but easy to access. Good vegan food option. Just vegan so don't have to worry about cross contamination. They have a wide menu of burgers and Asian style food so more to choose from. Wonton soup: 3 stars. Hubby said not enough flavors and only come with 2 wontons and yellow noodle. It's kind of deceiving since it's supposed to be wonton soup - expected more wontons. Pho- 4 stars. This stayed hot for a long time. Broth was very savory with a strong scent of star anise. Plenty of tofu and soy protein. I just wished they would serve the sprouts on the side. Rainbow salad: 3 stars. My daughter liked it but definitely not as good as the rainbow salad at vegetarian house. It was a different sauce. Three stars because it was mostly salad and not enough TOfu. Spring rolls: these were the fried rolls. 2 stars. Very generic with cabbage and some carrots and a few other vegetables. I expected it to be filled with Taro and more root veggies. The cabbage was just filler and the rolls weren't very thick. Will not order these again. read more

Love this place. Throughout the years the food & the service is very consistent here. It's too bad it's in the alley way of a mall, but that doesn't stop us from revisiting overtime we are in the area. And there are a couple of times that we make a beeline directly to the alley way of the Oakridge Mall solely to get Loving Hut food to go! We are not Vegetarians nor Vegans but the food here is healthy as well as extremely tasty. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner today. They served my crispy rolls to me luke warm at best. The rolls had been sitting out in the warming pan for obviously a while, but I accepted them anyway, not wanting to make a fuss and hold other people up from ordering. When I asked them if they would make a new order for me, explaining they weren't warm after having literally taken one bite to notice they were cold inside, the girl at the counter said, "No, you already ate them. We can't take them back. You can buy another order if you want different ones, but you won't get your money back for the first order." The manager agreed with the smug employee, and just stood there and stared at me. Wow, what TERRIBLE customer service. [Disclaimer: Vegan/Gluten-Free - Based Review] I was a savage after post-Christmas shopping and I shamelessly ordered (5) items: Original BBQ - I don't know if it was because I was overly hangry, but this was literally the most glorious vegan BBQ sandwich I've ever, ever had. Note: I had to consume gluten pills prior to the meal. It is not, by any means, gluten-free. Saigon Rolls - It was adequate. I've just had a way better type of spring roll (Nem Nuong aka BBQ Pork) at Green Lotus / 1143 Story Rd, San Jose, CA 95122. BBQ Pork Bun - I wouldn't buy this again, the filling had an offset flavor profile to it. Mango Cake and Tiramisu Cake (I admit, I am a fatty) - Yes, I had 2 cakes. I would try it again, tiramisu over mango, however the cake itself was quite dense, but the level of sweetness itself was pretty on-point. Question: Would I eat here again? Verdict: Definitely, if I can avoid traffic (It's located inside Oakridge Mall) Why?: Everything was vegan-friendly and, overall, good in texture, flavor, and quality. However, I would need to bring my gluten pills because a lot of vegan 'meat' substitutes are made of wheat or wheat by-products. Fist pump! I am not a Vegan normally but I am whenever I come to Loving Hut! This one is located inside of Oakridge Mall. My favorite dish here is the Eggplant Tofu. Crispy pieces of tofu and soft eggplant cooked in a delicious sauce and served with rice and veggies. They now offer brown rice! I also love the Aloe Lemonade which is fresh and fruity. Everything here is Vegan meaning no eggs, dairy or meat! I always feel healthy whenever I eat here. The employees are very friendly and offer their suggestions if you are unsure about what to order. This is by far the best vegetarian restaurant for a shopper at the Oakridge mall. Though it is a little off of the food court, it is easy to spot and serves variety dishes that will force you to keep coming back. I have been to the Palo alto location and the milpitas locations of Loving hut but prefer this one to both of those based on the consistency in quality. Most Loving hut locations don't go wrong with their salads and pho, here they even perfect the veggie burger. The soy patty is filling and the sauces they add are distinctly Asian. Juicy and healthy at the same time. Price to me seems reasonable for the quality. Service sometimes is slow, though the people at the cash counter are always friendly and welcoming. read more

The spicy royal noodle bowl wasn't spicy and difficult to eat in the narrow paper bowl it was served in. I'd recommend a wider brim bowl. The lucky curry was awesome. I'd definitely come here again. I am vegan, my fiance is vegetarian, and both of us are sick to death of foods being overpriced due to what they don't include (meat, dairy, etc). On a trip to Oakridge, though, we stumbled across the Loving Hut and have been fantasizing about forcibly yanking it out of the mall and relocating it to Santa Cruz ever since. Everything on the menu looks amazing, and the rainbow salad which I had, as well as the barbecue sandwich that he had, were no exceptions. It's also really nice that they list all the dressings, seasonings, etc on the menu, so I was able to know that my salad was lightly dressed with sesame/peanut oil and not some mystery blend of corn syrup and hydrogenated oils. The portions are perfect, and everything that we saw seemed to be less than $10...both of our meals were around $7 each. In short, this place is awesome, healthy, aaaannd inexpensive, which you would think would cause the universe to implode, but it doesn't. Which is cool too. read more

I am not vegan, nor a full-time vegetarian much anymore (was for 3 years), but when I want something fast, healthier than other mall fast food options while shopping at Oakridge... this is my stop! The vegetarian pho is awesome! I eat pho often, but some variations taste too salty or blah. Aside from my MIL's homemade pho, Loving Hut's veggie pho is the next greatest thing! It's very tasty and it keeps me full. My other favorite dish is the veggie fried rice combo. It comes with sides: 2 spring rolls, satay "beef" kabobs and fresh sliced cucumbers and tomatoes. I like to finish my meal off with either the Fresh Lemonade or Thai Iced tea. Both these beverages are just right.... not too sweet! I've always had great customer service when dining here. One time, while my hubby and I were eating, one of the employees was experimenting with a new dish. He brought it over for us to sample and wanted our honest opinions. When I first discovered The Loving Hut, I thought I'd never eat anywhere again. Their Tuno Melt is addictive and if you skip the fries they give you a giant rainbow side salad. I could probably eat their every day and not get sick of it... That is, until they hired the dumbest American guy there. The place is mostly run by lovely Asian women, but the guy they have their now is just terrible. If I see him working I know to just not bother, he will ultimately ruin any order you give him. I asked for the bread toasted on my sandwich and only got one side (the side with Daiya Soy Cheese) toasted, fine that makes sense... so next time i said please toast BOTH sides of my sandwich... somehow that translated to him making sure to toast both sides of ONE of the two piece of bread on the sandwich. I've received the order to go at times and when i open the box, it's as if he dropped kicked it before giving it to me. Sometimes the salad with have almost no lettuce but a cup of peanuts on top of it. I've given him easily four chances to not mess up my order and he just cant manage it. If you are near another loving hut, or don't see a tall idiot working at this one EAT HERE! The patty melt is so good and comes with fried onions and something that tastes like 1,000 island dressing.
