So we have slowly been making our way down the coast and food has been meh. Nothing to rave about and not much to complain about. Stopped here on our way from Trinidad to mendico. I cannot say enough good things about this place!! The food is amazing. The biscuits were sooooo good we got 6 to take home. Jeanette, our server was friendly, quick, and let my sassy pooch sit outdoors with us. The strawberry stuffed pancake was so decadent. My husband got the chili burger and I've rarely seen him Not finish a plate. He loved it, but it was a lot of food. 10/10 I would recommend this spot. We will be back!!

I wasn't happy about it but I decided to let it slide and hoped the food would make up for it. I was extremely disappointed with the food. My eggs Benny's egg whites were still runny, English muffin absolutely soggy and disgusting, with a thin slice of deli ham. The potatoes (that I wasn't informed or asked if I wanted onions or peppers by the way) were so grease soaked and cold that they were actually inedible. My partner's chicken fried steak was way overcooked, hard and tough. Just all around terrible. TLDR; given the completely wrong drink, food was impossible to get down, and no concern of my uneaten food by the server or owner. Not worth it at all.

I had the "Alliecat's Favorite Toast". It was absolutely delicious. Thick slices of sourdough topped with a smashed avocado, two eggs over-easy, very tasty cherry tomatoes, drizzled with olive oil and sea salt. The room has some really cool farm-type decorations, a hardwood floor, but the tables are far enough apart that you can talk to your guests and not have trouble hearing each other. The last question below was if a staff member requested me to leave a review - she did; however, I always like to share my experiences in case someone else has any questions. I am a repeat customer now.

Our service was 5 star which helped since we were exhausted. I have a super strong recommendation for the Cali 101 sandwich. It might be one of the sandwiches I've ever had. The fried parmesan on the tops of the bread sealed the deal. My wife asked for a custom burger. Mind you, the kitchen was closing but chef pulled off a beautiful dish. I don't normally photo food but wish I did. My wife goes bun-less and they served the dish on a bed of spinach (which she requested and they had to dig for it). To do all that as the kitchen is closing says something. They could have just thrown it on top. I am completely stealing that one. I love amber ale and they make a good one. I hope we can squeeze one last visit in before we leave.

The onion rings were absolutely brilliant, and the Organic IPA was also fantastic. What really stood out was how well Amy understood the drinks menu -- she listened to the kinds of flavors we were looking for, answered all of our questions, and recommended drinks that matched exactly what we wanted. She also had a great sense of humor that made us feel completely at home. On top of that, the atmosphere was incredible -- even the people around us were interactive and engaged in conversation despite us not knowing each other. The whole night was filled with great energy, shared laughs, and an overall memorable experience.

Sadly, most of the shops were closed since it's mostly seasonal and on a cold and foggy February weekend, it was pretty quiet. I found the Cat Shack Ice Cream stand while exploring the area. A nice young man assisted me. I ordered a cup of strawberry and spumoni. Very delicious! Almost ate the whole cup while chatting with him. His family has been in Ferndale for generations. The shop next door was his great grandpa's Ford Shop and the house on the other side belonged to his family as well. I love supporting a local, family business, even on a cold day! He told me all about Ferndale, how it is a small town and community. How it is mostly generational businesses and homes. It's hard to even find a rental, he says, without knowing anyone in town. He said everyone helps each other out and knows everyone. I love that type of town which you dont see much anymore. Please come by to support local business!

I thought it was called Get Your Licks based on the sidewalk sandwich board, but presumably there's a different owner though it was still a one-person operation in a standalone kiosk that invited drop-bys by its mere presence. This time I was with Jamie W. and I had a fond memory of the ice cream served here. I found out it came from the Oregon-based Umpqua Dairy. They've been making ice cream since the Great Depression. And I don't mean the Trump years. I went for a $5 Large Cup of Rocky Road and Espresso Chip (photo: https://bit.ly/3b3QF8t), while Jamie had the same size combo of Chocolate and Caramel Cone (photo: https://bit.ly/3tGgySk). We took advantage of the empty weather-worn picnic table and leisurely got our licks. It seemed like the perfect thing to do in the Mayberry-like town of Ferndale.
