There is not a single food here that has disappointed me, anyone I have brought here has been impressed and the food is the best Asian fusion ever. Gourmet Vietnamese speakeasy restaurant hidden in the back of Bluegold restaurant. Just check-in with the Bluegold hostess and you will be escorted in. We actually pre-gamed a couple drinks at the Bluegold bar while our table was getting ready. The ambience of LSXO was nice and cozy and bright, with lots of windows and natural light. We were able to watch the sunset over the ocean while we were dining. Upon being seated, you are greated with nice warm towels. The Beachwood Brewery Japanese rice lager and the Avery White Rascal white ale were great beers. My wife tried a French and then a Californian Sauvignon Blanc but they were both average. The pork, shrimp, and crab dumplings were wonderful. There were all kinds of fun surprise finishing touches sprinkled throughout, such as sliced sweet sausage, mushrooms, garlic, peanuts, and other things. The sticky rice was more like cubes of crispy rice. It was good. It was topped with pork floss which really weirded me out by appearance, but tasted good. There were also some surprise bits of mint that I didn't care for. The fresh spring rolls with shrimp and pork were great. We preferred to dip them in the complimentary fish sauce at the table, rather than the coconut peanut sauce it came with. The house garlic noodles were not good. They were different from your typical garlic noodles that you may have tried elsewhere. These were less buttery with more of a roasted flavor. The shaky shaky beef was the star of the show. It was like your typical shaken beef. Perfectly cooked and flavorful cubes of filet mignon. It came with an amazing fried rice, and a nice salad. Once you go inside, they take you to this room which has roughly 7-8 tables. I felt like a queen fine dining at this nice place next to the beach with great servers checking on us. It was so classy! Although the music choice was quite interesting - they had Chingy and Snoop Dogg at an exclusive fine dining restaurant. That was a first for us haha. Nothing more interesting than RIGHT THURR with some Pho Banh Cuon lol. Banh cuon was my favorite hands down. It melts in your mouth and was quite big! I would love to see something like a bite size Banh mi dipped in pho broth because this Banh cuon was out of this world. I can't recall what the drink was called but it had egg white foam. It reminded me of the cheese foam milk tea. Sweet with a spike to it - very good! The shaky shaky beef was so tender. We were convinced that they shook the cow because the meat was just right haha. If we do come back, we would ask them to go easy on the sauce on the meat because it can be overwhelmed by the sauce of the arugula. My least favorite was the garlic noodles because the dish by itself is just OK. I wish they had an option to add protein to it. Overall, I applaud the servers for pronouncing the dishes right! LSXO is a unique Vietnamese restaurant. The ambiance is upscale, trendy and intimate. The food is delicious and not overly gentrified. It is worth experiencing if you have never been before. Our server was helpful and recommended the shaky shaky beef but our favorite dish of the night was the beef tartare. The flavors incorporated in this dish highlighted the gastronomic nature of Vietnamese cuisine really well. The pate also stood out to us. Came on a Wednesday night with a friend to celebrate our birthdays. It was easy to make a reservation (through phone) but would highly recommend making one since the restaurant is tiny. It has sort of a speakeasy feel since it's inside of another restaurant called Bluegold. Our waitress was extremely sweet and went over the menu with us made recommendations. I got the butterfly effect and my friend got the don ovalle for cocktails. Both were so cute and delicious. We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant but were left very disappointed. We ordered the lobster dish listed as "market price," and to our shock, it ended up being $165. At that price point, we would have expected the waitress to give us a heads-up before we ordered, especially as a courtesy. As a customer, if the price is generally similar or slightly higher than most of the items on the menu then we don't need to know. But $165 , the waitress should mentioned that, especially if the most expensive item on the menu was around $40-$50. Other than mom's chicken salad, have never had a better goi ga than here. A little embarrassed as a viet person I didn't know how to properly eat the sea bass but luckily my date was skilled enough to show me. I had the shaky shaky beef (which is a staple at this place) it was one of the best beef dishes I've ever had. I also tried a rice and seafood dish, paella like, and it was just as flavorful. Drinks: Amazing Cocktails ! So good they are dangerous. Service: The customer service here was some of the best. They were very knowledgeable on the menu, and weren't shy on giving some suggestions. Never had an empty glass of anything, and always checked in very often. Ambiance: I was so impressed at how intimate and cozy, yet upscale and fun this restaurant was. The decor and setup feels elegant but then the music selections helps it feel a lot more comfortable and relaxed. Overall I had a great experience here. Definitely wouldn't come very often, because it definitely on the more upscale side with its pricing. But for a celebration, or a treat yourself night it is perfect. Didn't have a reservation but luckily some people cancelled. You have to walk into another restaurant to get to this one - it was a little hard to find. The restaurant has a modern hip Asian atmosphere. Service was a little slow to start - one waitress for 6 tables. The Bún xèo - so good. Crispy, salty, sweet and sour. Perfect Caramelization on the outside of the crepe. This was my favorite. Shaky shaky beef - was tasty. Meat was medium / medium rare which I like. The fried rice had a really good flavor too. Wow what a delicious experience LSXO was! I've been to Little Sister in Irvine once, and this was my first visit to LSXO so I kind of knew what to expect. First off, I ordered the Jade Pendant drink and it was so refreshing. I would've gotten another if I didn't have to work the next day ;) We ordered far too many dishes, even after a warning from the server but of course I didn't listen. The dumplings and autumn spring rolls were insanely delicious. I would love to thank whoever made the executive decision to serve the spring rolls with an abundant amount of peanut sauce!! Butttt I have to talk about the star of the show -- the grilled pork chop with chicken fat rice. I couldn't believe the sauce, marinade, tenderness of the pork chop. And the MVP of the evening--hands down--is Reagan, the hostess with the mostest. Let's be real: showing up at LSXO at 8:30 PM on a Saturday night without a reservation is typically a recipe for a long wait or a polite "Sorry, we're fully booked." But not with Reagan. She didn't just write us off--she actually checked in the back, found a surprise opening from an early table departure, and made it happen. My date and I were both genuinely shocked--in the best way. From the moment we were seated, the service was warm, detailed, and attentive--even though we were late diners. It's rare to get that kind of full-engagement hospitality at the end of a busy night, but both servers were present, thoughtful, and didn't rush a thing. Now, LSXO has always had solid food. That's never been the issue. But for me, the experience has been the missing ingredient--the thing that turns a good meal into a memorable night. Amazing and creative food. This is a gourmet upscale Vietnamese fusion restaurant for sure. The food here is unlike anywhere else and I really wish more Vietnamese restaurants would be like this! The creativity, innovation, and uniqueness of the menu is unrivaled. I love the atmosphere here because they really keep to their speakeasy aesthetic! The restaurant is hidden in a "secret room" and you could not find this restaurant if you were just walking on the street as there is no signage or advertisement for it. And the walls are like you're eating within the walls of a building so you see that raw wood framing and insulation work. It's crazy. The seats and tables are all loungey themed too. The lamb satay was my favorite, it had a slight curry flavor and was mildly spicy with large generous chunks of melt in your mouth lamb. The pan fried sea bass was also delicious, it's just that the wrapping and assembling process that you have to do yourself can get kinda messy, but hey that's the authentic Vietnamese experience. Entrance to this place is actually next to the kitchen from the Bluegold restaurant. Just look up and follow the butterflies. When you enter, you feel like you're entering to a completely different restaurant. The ambiance brings you back to the 90s with classic hip hop music playing in the background. You get a beautiful, unobstructed view of the beach on one side and a badass decor of the bar on the other. I absolutely dig the decor from the concrete and wooden walls to the machine gun/floral patterns at the bar to the butterflies in our personal bathroom. Let's talk food. You can't go wrong with any dish you order here. All are made perfectly to satisfy the homestyle Vietnamese craving. The drinks are artistically curated. Tucked away towards the back, and in a very unassuming corner of the Bluegold restaurant, lies this restaurant space nothing like the space you just walked out of to get into this hidden gem. Upon opening the doors into LXSO, you just know you walked into something exclusive and special (so RSVPs highly recommended). I came for a birthday event and got one (ok three) drinks at the bar as I waited for the entire party to arrive. Not a bad place to wait since the bar at Bluegold is a nice one but walk into LXSO and you're greeted with a much quainter, yet very beautiful bar and a fantastic selection of spirits. As for all the menu selections my party ordered, it was family style, so I got to try them all. The Shaky Shaky beef, according to the waitress, was their most popular dish and coincidentally I was going to order that one anyway. Very tender cuts of beef with a subtle savoriness. Delicious. The Salmon Crudo, melt in your mouth thin cuts of salmon with a light dressing. Also very delicious. Those were my two favorite items. As for the others, they were also very tasty but it was a familiar and expected flavor profile. So there's nothing wrong with that. The dishes were all an elevated version of your everyday Banh Xeo, Sticky Rice, and Egg Rolls so order away and you'll enjoy them still. However, my taste buds breakdanced just a little bit harder with the first two I mentioned. Also, don't forget the cocktail/spirits! The Hattori Hanzo was a just ever so slightly sweet for my liking but keep in mind, I usually prefer straight whisky or on the rocks. The drinks are awesome, and they do have craft bartenders who will make something for you if you ask. The food is outstanding, a great fusion and the music is on point too. The bathroom was spotless. Being Vietnamese, it's hard to wrap my head around paying this much for dishes I normally get for $15 or less but I think LSXO puts enough of a twist on these traditional foods to justify the cost (if it's a special occasion). That, along with the craft cocktails, elevated ambiance, and upscale decor make for a fine dining experience. I loved that it was a smaller restaurant inside another one (Bluegold) and the floor to ceiling windows make for a beautiful bright space. Service was good but nothing really to write about. The food is served family style so I'd recommend coming with a party of four so you can try more items. We got the sea bass, shakey shakey beef, eggplant, papaya salad, short rib, and dumplings. All the meats really tender! The sea bass wrapped in lettuce was probably my favorite dish but it was very small (one bite per person lol!) so it was a very short lived delight. The beef was very flavorful and the rice it came with had a great texture and some crispy bits to it. I didn't enjoy the short rib as much but I'm generally not a big fan so I'm probably biased there. The baguette slices with pate and mayo were delicious though. Although a native to socal, I have lived outside this state for more than a decade now, so everytime i come back home to socal, there's always new food places to dine. This time around, we were lucky to have a socal friend reserve us a spot at LSXO. We were so lucky to get a seat here. It situated in Blue Gold right by the beach and HB Pier. Loved the view of the spot. It's definitely small and exclusive. Beautiful decor inside. Friendly and nice staff to attend to needs and orders. Food and drink menu were filld with beautifully crafted cocktails and dishes that did not disappoint the palate. Being vietnamese, I would say that they did a decent job at modernizing some of the traditional dishes that I grew up eating. We had a bit of everything with the highlight bo luc lac. I just returned from a wonderful trip to Vietnam where I had amazing food and I was really in the mood for a great Vietnamese meal. This restaurant delivered! I ordered the Banh Xeo: a crispy Vietnamese crepe with prawns, pork belly, bean sprouts, rice noodles, herbs and greens. When the large dish was served to me I stuffed the crepe with herbs and greens, dipped it into the delicious sauce and really enjoyed eating it. The crunch of the crepe was perfect. This one dish was very filling. The waiter at the restaurant was very nice and helpful. The ambiance is unique: it's located within the Bluegold restaurant. I couldn't find LSXO and when I by chance asked the maitre'd at the Bluegold restaurant she told me that she would take me to it. It was like going to a speakeasy --- it's tucked away inside the Bluegold restaurant. The decor is somewhat ornate with shelves filled with interesting art, books and decorative items.
