    HAIR IN THE FOOD

OH NO! After trying this place and coming here for the past 2 months or so, it didn't take too long to find a short curly black hair IN MY FOOD. SO upsetting from this restaurant, especially since they were promising. We spent just about $40 on food and drinks, just to throw out my whole meal after only a few bites! I felt so bad for wasting it, but went from really hungry to literally not being hungry in the slightest. It wasn't in my partner's food, and yet it still grossed them out enough to stop eating, as well. We would have went back and gotten a refund if we weren't already sat at home with the to-go food. You can tell the cleanliness is not being kept up with over time and that their standards for being hygienic are not a priority. I would skip next time if I were you!!

Luau Grill was good and hit the spot. Another Hawaiian bbq chain I was hoping for something that makes this place a standout from the rest but overall it is pretty standard. Not a bad thing and at least you know what you are going to get. I will say the restaurant interior and cleanliness is 5 stars. Very well maintained and clean inside. Clean bathrooms are always an added plus. Great music playing inside and I super appreciate that they have all of the sauces available in the lobby to grab. This was a big plus for me (no awkward asking for extra sauces or worrying that sauces won't get packed). Another strong plus was the service. The gentleman that helped us behind the counter today was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions. A nice guy. The food overall was good, standard tasty chain Hawaiian bbq. I ended up going with the duo of chicken plate. Hawaiian chicken (like a grilled teriyaki) and their chicken Katsu. Solid all around but I definitely prefer the Katsu. Their Hawaiian chicken was a little stringy and not super juicy. Still good. Their Mac salad is a 10/10. Love the hints of tuna and how creamy it is. Delicious. Paired my meal with a Hawaiian juice and you can't go wrong. Meals are about $20 a person. Pretty good sized proteins. Happy I came for dinner and would keep this spot in mind again in the future.

I like chicken teriyaki here. It is delicious. When I think of a good teriyaki, I have to say this place is great by far. This is like the third time I came here. It is like a fast food place, but the food is fresh and steaming hot. The service is nice. The restaurant is nice and clean, plenty of table to dine in or sit outside. Not fancy, but like I mentioned earlier, they have a good chicken teriyaki and really nice portion.

Needed a Hawaiian fix so I decided to try Luau Grill. Pleasantly surprised that it's affiliated with one of my favorite Hawaiian restaurants in Ventura county Q and Q Grill. Same menu and food. Clean Hawaiian theme decor and friendly staff. Come check it out the next time you crave a taste of the islands.

    Mixed Meat entree to go

We decided to give this place a shot and ordered an entree to go. Their setup with the utensils, napkins and sauce packets to go made it convenient to access everything you needed. The mixed bbq plate with the side of rice and macaroni was hot and fresh. Everything came out good and it's a nice spot to get lunch nearby. The chicken teriyaki, veggie, and rice bowl looked good to get on another day.

Normally I do not like ordering fried fish to go because to no fault at all of the restaurant the breading becomes mushy and not pleasant. Not this place. The island white fish was moist inside, fish was very flavorful and some of the crispiest breaded fish I've ever had. I Highly recommend if you are craving some good fish filets. The price of the plate was more than fair for the amount of food you get. Mac salad was great , rice was the perfect temperature and cook like it should be on a Hawaiian plate. Spam Musubi was how it should be with the teriyaki sauce and katsu sauce for dipping. Would love to come back and try the Chicken Katsu, Loco Moco and Spare Ribs.

I asked if the menu was the same, and the host confirmed that it was exactly the same. The bar was HUGE. It had to have seated at least 50 people. I'd say probably about 30 people at the actual bar, and then 20 people on the tables/ high tops on the perimeter of the bar. Our server's name was Christian. He handed us the menus and we realized that it was DineLA. Christian told us that it had just started on Friday. For a drink, I ordered the 6oz Two Squared Sauvignon Blanc, while my partner got the watermelon spritz. Later in the night we also ended up getting a draft beer and and unsweetened ice tea. Then we were ready to order and our server asked us if we wanted to order everything at once, or if we wanted to space it out. We ended up ordering everything at once, but the food came spaced out so I'm not sure if they did that behind the scenes for us, or if it just ended up that way due to the kitchen being backed up. Regardless, the timing worked out well for us because we weren't waiting long at all for the next course once we got done with whatever was being served to us. We ended up ordering the Oysters Sampler. We decided on 4 of each oyster (Grassy Bar, Seaduction, and Chincoteague). Then, off the DineLA menu, we ordered charbroiled oysters, New England Clam Chowder, Blue Eye Trevalla, Fijian Ono, Key Lime Pie, and Flourless Chocolate Cake. My standout for this meal was definitely the Chincoteague oysters. They were perfectly balanced with brine and tasting very crisp and fresh. Now that I think about it, it probably would have been good with some sparkling water. My other highlight was the flourless chocolate cake. To me, it resembled a lava cake without the chocolate in the middle. It was very rich and decadent and paired very well with the cold ice cream. I also really enjoyed the pineapple coleslaw. There were little chunks of pineapple in it that tasted sweet and refreshing. While we didn't plan on going here because of DineLA, I had a lot of fun trying new dishes. We don't often gravitate toward cooked fish (we eat a lot of sushi), so this was a really nice change of pace. I would recommend this restaurant for a nice night out or a date night.

The place was packed, but I have to assume we got really lucky because we got seated right away at an open table near the front. Our server greeted us immediately and brought us waters for the table. We were overwhelmed initially by the menu options because everything sounded incredible. We asked our waitress what she recommended, and she said literally everything on the menu is amazing - nothing is bad and every dish is popular. So I was quite impressed to hear that. My friend and I decided to get the steak tartare, woodfire grilled octopus, fried gnocchi, and chicken liver pate. Every single dish was actually incredible. The chicken liver pate came with four slices of toast, some pickled vegetables and ground mustard. The pate was creamy, rich, slightly on the sweeter side, so it paired perfectly with the tang from the ground mustard & pickled vegetables. The woodfire grilled octopus was cooked perfectly. Seriously the best, freshest octopus I've ever had! It wasn't chewy or fishy at all. The texture was absolutely perfect. It was very easy to cut into and juicy. It was paired perfectly with the aïoli as well. The steak tartare was extremely fresh. One of the things that I hate about steak tartare at restaurants sometimes is it will start to look brown from the meat oxidizing so it doesn't always look as appetizing, but this tartare was still had that vibrant red color as if they had just cut the meat. Lastly, the fried gnocchi was amazing. It's the first time I've ever had a dish with fried gnocchi. They paired it with a cream sauce that was absolutely delicious. I wish I remembered what was in it, but it was so good. I wanted to drink that sauce lol. Love how the gnocchi was also perfectly seared, had no lumps, and basically melts in your mouth. Overall, loved the ambience of this place as well. It's very hip. trendy. Definitely a louder environment but perfect for a weekend night out to enjoy great food. I would recommend making reservations. I think my friend and I probably just got lucky because we went a little bit earlier on a Friday night. Also wanna mention all of the wait staff was amazing. Food was served very quickly and we had no issues with any of our orders. I seriously cannot wait to come back here and try every single thing on the menu!

The menu has some interesting options, the food came out quickly, and the service was very good. Quick take: Get the Chilean Sea Bass special if it is available, the homemade pastas, and the Prosciutto Rucola e Grana Pizza. Skip the meatballs. Know that nearly all the pasta is made in-house, while the spaghetti and penne are imported from Italy (if I'm remembering correctly) The Chilean Sea Bass special was the standout and absolutely worth ordering when offered. Since specials change, I would ask about it before getting too attached, but this would be my first choice. Everyone I was with agreed it was standout and wished they ordered it. The pastas are another strength. I do not like cream, and the server told me they could remove those ingredients, which gave me considerably more flexibility with the menu. It is also worth knowing that the spaghetti and penne are the one exception to the house-made pasta because they are shipped in from Italy. The cocktails were creative and interesting, although almost too sweet for me. Service was friendly and efficient. The only real drawback is that the dining room feels cramped, so this is not the place to go if you need a lot of personal space. Overall, Nonna delivers interesting Italian food, excellent homemade pasta and good service.

We were initially seated outside next to a family with two young kids who were pretty loud. Totally understandable (we have kids too), but we were hoping for a more relaxed, cozy night. Our waitress was great from the start. After ordering the fritto misto calamari (which was good), we asked if we could move inside since it was pretty hot out. I do wish we had been seated inside from the beginning, especially for a birthday dinner. Once inside, the experience completely changed for the better, much more intimate and exactly what we were looking for. We also got a red wine from the Pursued by Bear line (don't remember the exact one, but it had a bold bear on the label) -- smooth, full-bodied, and went really well with the pasta. I got the cacio e pepe and my wife ordered the strozzapreti. Hers was definitely the standout -- the pasta was soft and the red sauce had a lot more flavor than I expected, especially since I don't usually go for red sauce. My cacio e pepe was still good, just a bit simpler. For dessert, we had the vanilla panna cotta and Nonna's cake -- both solid and a nice way to end the night. Overall, a really good experience. The service and indoor ambiance definitely made the night.
