OH NO! After trying this place and coming here for the past 2 months or so, it didn't take too long to find a short curly black hair IN MY FOOD. SO upsetting from this restaurant, especially since they were promising. We spent just about $40 on food and drinks, just to throw out my whole meal after only a few bites! I felt so bad for wasting it, but went from really hungry to literally not being hungry in the slightest. It wasn't in my partner's food, and yet it still grossed them out enough to stop eating, as well. We would have went back and gotten a refund if we weren't already sat at home with the to-go food. You can tell the cleanliness is not being kept up with over time and that their standards for being hygienic are not a priority. I would skip next time if I were you!!

I like chicken teriyaki here. It is delicious. When I think of a good teriyaki, I have to say this place is great by far. This is like the third time I came here. It is like a fast food place, but the food is fresh and steaming hot. The service is nice. The restaurant is nice and clean, plenty of table to dine in or sit outside. Not fancy, but like I mentioned earlier, they have a good chicken teriyaki and really nice portion.

Clean bathrooms are always an added plus. Great music playing inside and I super appreciate that they have all of the sauces available in the lobby to grab. This was a big plus for me (no awkward asking for extra sauces or worrying that sauces won't get packed). Another strong plus was the service. The gentleman that helped us behind the counter today was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions. A nice guy. The food overall was good, standard tasty chain Hawaiian bbq. I ended up going with the duo of chicken plate. Hawaiian chicken (like a grilled teriyaki) and their chicken Katsu. Solid all around but I definitely prefer the Katsu. Their Hawaiian chicken was a little stringy and not super juicy. Still good. Their Mac salad is a 10/10. Love the hints of tuna and how creamy it is. Delicious. Paired my meal with a Hawaiian juice and you can't go wrong. Meals are about $20 a person. Pretty good sized proteins. Happy I came for dinner and would keep this spot in mind again in the future.

Clean Hawaiian theme decor and friendly staff. Come check it out the next time you crave a taste of the islands.

We decided to give this place a shot and ordered an entree to go. Their setup with the utensils, napkins and sauce packets to go made it convenient to access everything you needed. The mixed bbq plate with the side of rice and macaroni was hot and fresh. Everything came out good and it's a nice spot to get lunch nearby. The chicken teriyaki, veggie, and rice bowl looked good to get on another day.

Normally I do not like ordering fried fish to go because to no fault at all of the restaurant the breading becomes mushy and not pleasant. Not this place. The island white fish was moist inside, fish was very flavorful and some of the crispiest breaded fish I've ever had. I Highly recommend if you are craving some good fish filets. The price of the plate was more than fair for the amount of food you get. Mac salad was great , rice was the perfect temperature and cook like it should be on a Hawaiian plate. Spam Musubi was how it should be with the teriyaki sauce and katsu sauce for dipping. Would love to come back and try the Chicken Katsu, Loco Moco and Spare Ribs.

Luau Grill is a solid spot for anyone craving authentic Hawaiian food, especially if you're far from the islands like I am. The flavors instantly bring me back home--comforting, familiar, and truly ono. It's hard to find places that get it right, but Luau Grill delivers. The convenience of having my favorite local dishes nearby is unbeatable. My only gripe is the poke bowl--I just wish it came with a bit more poke. Still, it's hands-down my go-to place when I'm missing the taste of home. Friendly service, great food, and a little taste of Hawaii right here on the mainland.

Authentic Island Flavors at Luau Grill My wife, our three sons, and I recently stopped by Luau Grill in Thousand Oaks, and it was one of those spots that instantly makes you feel at home. With its true mom and pop shop feel, this place delivers not just on flavor, but on that welcoming, no-frills atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again. Entrées: We ordered the chicken katsu and kalbi short ribs, and both were outstanding. The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying juicy and tender on the inside, paired with a flavorful sauce that brought everything together. The kalbi short ribs were just as impressive, marinated well with that sweet and savory balance you expect from great Hawaiian BBQ, and cooked to perfection with a nice char. Sides: Each plate came with white rice and macaroni salad, and both hit the mark. The rice was fluffy and a perfect base for the meats, while the macaroni salad was creamy, simple, and exactly what you want alongside a hearty Hawaiian meal. Appetizers: We also grabbed a classic spam musubi, and it did not disappoint. The spam was nicely seared with a slightly sweet glaze, sitting on perfectly seasoned rice and wrapped in seaweed. Simple, but done right. Ambience: The vibe here is as authentic as it gets. It truly feels like a small family-run spot where the focus is on good food and good service rather than anything flashy. That mom and pop atmosphere adds a lot of charm to the overall experience. Overall: Luau Grill is a must-visit if you're in Thousand Oaks and craving authentic Hawaiian food. Dining here with our three sons was easy and enjoyable, and from the quality of the dishes to the welcoming feel of the place, everything comes together for a great experience. Easily one of the best Hawaiian spots around, and definitely somewhere we'll be returning to. read more

Decided to drop in and check this place out. It was a very generous portion. The food was very good but not amazing. Ambiance: Real chill setting. I could see that taking it to go might be the ticket. Service was good. Take your order and call you when it's ready. Worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

I felt compelled to leave this review because this place truly deserves more recognition. Luau Grill is a newer spot in Westlake Village, and while I often see it quieter than it should be, the food and overall experience are honestly impeccable. The food is extremely consistent -- which is exactly what you want from a restaurant like this -- and every time I've come in, everything tastes just as good as the last visit. The restaurant itself is immaculately clean, the portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity you're getting. On top of that, the service is excellent. There's a staff member I often see working there who is always attentive, friendly, and makes the experience even better. I also really love seeing Hawaiian culture and beach vibes making their way into Westlake Village -- between this spot and the new Hawaiian coffee shop coming in, it's such a great addition to the area. Highly recommend supporting this place. Easily a 5-star experience, and I hope more people discover it soon. read more

I usually call to place my order to avoid a long wait when I get to the restaurant. The employees are always professional and friendly when placing my order and in store. I usually get the Hawaiian BBQ mix and since I don't like macaroni salad, I sub it with vegetables. They have a self service section with teriyaki sauce and katsu sauce. I have tried only a few of their plates and it's so far all been tasty. I will have to try something different the next time I visit. read more

Huge portions! We got the Hawaiian BBQ Mix and BBQ and Katsu mix. The beef and kalbi were a bit dry, but for the price, I really can't complain. On the other hand, the chicken texture was very tender, and the chicken katsu perfectly crispy. I ended up not being able to finish and had to take home the leftovers, and they were still delicious even after a day. read more

Excellent experience! The restaurant is very clean and the employees are friendly and helpful. You order at the counter, and the food is made for you. There is a poke bar also available. Generous portions, my chicken was very tasty, and I loved the rice, macaroni salad, and cabbage. I would go back there just for the sides. read more

Went last night it was good. Expensive but good. Got the kalbi short rib plate with a drink. $24.00. Could have gone to Bj's and got $13.00 meal. Wish they had a kalua pork meal by itself not in a combo Other thing they should get a refund from their menu printer company. The company misspelled Newbury park, Bakersfield and the Bakersfield address has the Newbury park city and zip code. read more

Big Portions, Great Taste, and Super Affordable! I was honestly blown away by how much food you get for the price here. The portions are huge, and the food is delicious -- definitely a great value. I ordered the short rib plate and another combo with BBQ chicken and short ribs, plus a side of Spam musubi. Everything was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The short ribs were tender and juicy, with that perfect grilled flavor. The BBQ chicken was well-marinated and full of taste. The mac salad and rice were fresh and balanced out the meal nicely. The Spam musubi was classic and done just right -- simple and satisfying. For the amount of food you get, the price is really cheap. You definitely won't leave hungry! 3 words: AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! Food Quality-5 stars. Quality/tender/delicious meats. My teenage son loves this place. Teriyaki sauce is perfect. Not overwhelming; Portion size-5 stars. They are very generous. I usually order the beef & chicken combo and can make 2-3 meals out of it. Love the macaroni salad! Customer Service-5 stars. They greet you with a friendly smile, are very polite and helpful with the menu. They serve you if you dine-in. If you get it to go, they still "serve you" and walk your food to you. We got there just after opening. The meat was perfectly seasoned and well cooked. I got the Hawaiian Mix bbq plate and my wife got the chicken katsu plate. The Mac salad was delicious. I think the star of the show was the chicken katsu, made with chicken thigh and the katsu sauce that went with it. You could eat it off a shoe. The seating area was well spaced out and the tables were nice and clean. The staff were also very nice. read more

Absolutely love the food here. Portions are amazing and delicious. Nice ambiance and atmosphere. Friendly customer service as well. The meat was so tender and juicy, i was able to take the bone almost clean off. The chicken was also very good and well made. Even the rice was delicious. The food was so so delicious! BBQ chicken salad, chicken katsu, macaroni salad, rangoons, malasadas, were all scrumptious. Staff were very kind and welcoming/accommodating. The cashier working gave great recommendations, and was very polite. Clean and well managed. Will be returning :) so happy to have this yummy addition to Thousand Oaks! read more

The place was packed, but I have to assume we got really lucky because we got seated right away at an open table near the front. Our server greeted us immediately and brought us waters for the table. We were overwhelmed initially by the menu options because everything sounded incredible. We asked our waitress what she recommended, and she said literally everything on the menu is amazing - nothing is bad and every dish is popular. So I was quite impressed to hear that. My friend and I decided to get the steak tartare, woodfire grilled octopus, fried gnocchi, and chicken liver pate. Every single dish was actually incredible. The chicken liver pate came with four slices of toast, some pickled vegetables and ground mustard. The pate was creamy, rich, slightly on the sweeter side, so it paired perfectly with the tang from the ground mustard & pickled vegetables. The woodfire grilled octopus was cooked perfectly. Seriously the best, freshest octopus I've ever had! It wasn't chewy or fishy at all. The texture was absolutely perfect. It was very easy to cut into and juicy. It was paired perfectly with the aïoli as well. The steak tartare was extremely fresh. One of the things that I hate about steak tartare at restaurants sometimes is it will start to look brown from the meat oxidizing so it doesn't always look as appetizing, but this tartare was still had that vibrant red color as if they had just cut the meat. Lastly, the fried gnocchi was amazing. It's the first time I've ever had a dish with fried gnocchi. They paired it with a cream sauce that was absolutely delicious. I wish I remembered what was in it, but it was so good. I wanted to drink that sauce lol. Love how the gnocchi was also perfectly seared, had no lumps, and basically melts in your mouth. Overall, loved the ambience of this place as well. It's very hip. trendy. Definitely a louder environment but perfect for a weekend night out to enjoy great food. When you walk in, you're greeted with the hostess who were amazing. Right infront of you is the bar area. That itself isn't big at all. There's a few seat along the bar area and that's about it. Also inside dining isn't big as well. Restaurants wasn't massive but nice and quaint and very busy. We were told that if we wanted to grab a drink and take it outside to a spot while we wait for our table it would be fine. They would come get us once it's ready. Cocktails and wine menu was quite nice. They do allow you to bring up to two bottles for a corkage fee. Which we did take advantage of. But beforehand, started off with their smoke and sour cocktails. Mezcal, lime, hibiscus juice, farm egg whites and cherry bitters. It was quite delicious and that smoked mezcal, wow. If you like mezcal, it's worth trying. Bar area isn't big so we had to stand there and wait for our drink. Maybe a 10 to 15 minutes later, we were informed our table was ready. We were seated right behind the bar area for a table for four. I believe Jonathan was our waiter. Very sweet and friendly. Also, it did seemed like a lot of regulars. All the staff members seem to know everyone that was dining. Menu is limited but quite impressive. We started off with a few shared plates before the entrees. -Ember roasted red beets with preserved lemon crèma, spiced pumpkin seeds, pickled Fresno chilis and mint. Wow, it was delicious. The flavors with the beets, kiss kiss. -Smoke trout toast- blisters cherry tomatoes, candy beets, wild arugula, crème fraiche and lemon. This was top dish for starters from all of us. The flavor of the trout was the star of the dish. Highly recommend. -Mushrooms flatbread- shiitake, buna shimeji and oyster mushrooms, tarragon, fiore di Latte mozzarella and crème fraiche. Mushrooms lovers with amazing variety all combined together for a delicious bite. -Spicy scampi flatbread- rock shrimp, parsley, garlic, Calabrian chilis and parmigiano reggiano. It's literally having a seafood scampi but on a flatbread. Wow wow, favorite out of the two flatbread. Definitely recommend. Entrees, Manila clams and salt spring mussels tossed in spaghetti with Calabrian chilis and parsley. The flavors were excellent. Simple but very tasty. -Crispy gnocchi with cherry tomatoes, basil in a Parmesan fondue. It's alway a hit or miss for me but this was a hit. And the elk which was maybe a special. Not quite sure the whole description but it was very tasty. Plus it was very tender and cooked perfectly and mixed with a sauce and topped with crispy onions. Another hit. Lastly we actually had room left for dessert which was the bread pudding. Hot with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfect way to end an amazing meal. The service was great. Food was excellent and highly recommended. Each dish had its unique taste that was delicious. Everything ordered was outstanding and no crumbs were left. We would definitely be back.

And service to order was slow - probably about 20 mins more waiting than necessary when there were only 3 tables full in restaurant. And any steakhouse brings out bread unprompted--they do not. For the price, they should. I'm told you can ask for it and it's free but why wouldn't they just offer it if they make it? Little details like this are expected to be on point for $200/person. Still might be back, as it's some of the best food in Thousand Oaks. If you don't want to valet, you can park around corner on TO Blvd.

It was a Saturday in the mid-afternoon, and they weren't very crowded, which worked out great for us. They always have at least four options for frozen "ice cream" without the cows' milk dairy. Having just been through an MRI test, I decided to treat myself to a small sundae. Hadn't had one in ages! Their hot fudge is outstanding! Just the hit of chocolately goodness I was craving. I paired it with lemon sorbet. It was a wonderful combination of sweet and tart. It was warm enough to sit out on their side patio and just relax for a while. I remarked to DH that I miss all the plants that the previous business owner had kept out on the patio for atmosphere. The current iteration is clean, but on the boring side. We love their food, so I'm overlooking the lack of ambiance for now. That being said, DH and I have been discussing recently how much we miss the kinds of places that used to have great style in their decor. Theme restaurants are more rare these days than they ought to be. I'm sorry for our kids and grandkids that they don't get to experience more of those kinds of visually interesting kinds of places without having to go to a theme park. They got a variety of ice creams, some common ones but also some new ones. This is the first place I ever had a chance to try the espresso ice cream, which is ice cream with a shot of espresso, and it was delicious, especially as a coffee lover and ice cream lover. Kids devoured all their ice cream, which is rare for them to do. They also serve food here, which we did not get to try but is good to know is an option. They have tables everywhere and a fountain machine and some unique teas I got to try, like their lavender tea! This was beautiful and so amazing. I can't wait to come back and grab another ice cream espresso from here and maybe try one of their sandwiches. Yum!
