Luby's has been one of my family's favorite places to full fill everyone's taste buds and now I am able to do the same with my children. This luby's has been our dinner favorite but only because it is the most convenient however I'd have to say it is also my least favorite after trying other local Luby's. For some reason this place cannot get their mac and cheese to be just like the other Luby's in the area which is disappointing and to top it off the server was more concerned about chatting with her friends in the serving area than her own customers. How rude!? Least to say I will attempt to convince my family to either go out to the one in Greenspoint or 290 and 34th because not only do these other locations know how to treat customers but stick to the original recipes of the old time favorites. read more

If I could give this ZERO STARTS, I would. First off, the cake was not good. It's not even as good as, like, a fast food restaurant. Second, all the cups are dirty. AND YES, BY THAT, I MEAN THAT THERE WAS LIPSTICK FROM SOMEBODY ELSE ON MY WIFE'S CUP. We have also seen them give us dirty silverware, and when we ask for new ones, they give us dirty forks and spoons again. Horrible place. I have also seen chefs eating from the plates and food. The last time we dined at this location my daughter and husband both got sick... could have been the dirty dishes... They need to make sure the plates are properly washed. Also, there is a "waiter" there that takes ALL the tips... he lets the older Latin lady and the young Asian girl clean most, if not all of the tables... He will wipe down 1 or 2 with the same nasty wet towel... Seems pretty unsanitary, in general and especially during COVID. He has no shame. The tiny Asian girl carries the loaded trays of dirty dishes to the back and he just watches her do it. If he or the manager see this review, you better take care of this. If this continues, I will take pictures/video and post them all over social media so that people know you are a lazy thief. I'll even make you a "wanted" poster and leave it on the tables. This review is for the weekend breakfast buffet. For about $8.99, you can get all you can eat breakfast. From scrambled eggs made various ways to French toast or hotcakes, it is sure to be filling. While served cafeteria style, refills are free. I really enjoyed the crispy, fried bacon and sausage links with the veggie scrambled eggs. They also had beans and ground beef. I really wish they would have offered chicken fried steak, as I was craving that with eggs. An omelette bar would have also been a great addition, but for what they have, it was pretty good. read more

I normally have a good experience when I come to Luby's but today was different. I ordered roast beef which looked great, spinach and mac n cheese. Nothing too odd until it came to the check out. I saw on the screen a charge for 1.50 premium vegetable. What is so premium about my choice? I was informed the spinach is a premium vegetable and that is the cost. I told the girl how am I to know that and she smarted off there is a little sign saying so. So I don't see a sign and I am not willing to pay that. She immediately made sure my card was processed. I work at Fuddruckers and went to Luby's to eat and got their angus chopped steak. As you can see, the meat was raw. I love me some medium cooked meat. But holy cow this was raw. If you guys order this, please check the meat before you leave. With E. Coli spreading and my friend actually having E. Coli, it's dangerous to eat meat like this. Be careful guys. read more

Came for Father's Day today and the grill chicken for husbands salad was so dry and tough that he didn't even eat it . Never again . 2. Ok so I wanted the LuAnn with chicken fried chicken and they said no I could not have it but I could have the chicken fried steak ! So what gives on that ? I never eat steak but had to get it because they would not serve the chicken on the LuAnn . I have been working and eating at Lubys for only a few months I can wholeheartedly say I would die for this restaurant . I would crawl through a mile of shattered glass just for a whiff of the sweet potato. And don't get me started on the chicken madera. The staff feels like family even during a hectic rush, and they won't ever forget to remind you just how important you are . Yesterday I tried placing a togo order over the phone as soon as I left my house. No one every picked up the whole way there. It just kept ringing and ringing so when I walked Inside (already mad) I stood there for 15 minutes and not one employee spoke to me, a man I assumed was the manager was helping a lady in front of be and If you asked me, he seemed every annoyed at how busy they were. But there were at least 4 employees walking around like they either didn't know what to do or were just bored. Very disappointed because I was late to work and didn't even get my food. read more

Wife and I had a late lunch at you Tomball Parkway location yesterday. She got baked chicken greens ans blackeyed peas. We got home a littel after 4 pm and she started getting very sick by 5. There is an older black man with an accent that works at the Luby's. I'm not sure is his accent Caribbean or Cajun but I do know that he puts the customer first every time. I get to go orders a lot because I am a single grandparents raising young grandbaby. And when I call if he answers and I asked for spaghetti or cheese in gelatos if they have them he will say I'll make you some and every time he answers that phone I get exactly what I want because if they don't have it he makes it the word lazy is not in the man's vocabulary. If anyone else answers and I asked for cheese enchiladas they say "we don't have it" I asked for spaghetti "we don't have it" but if he answers every single time he will tell me I'll make it for you and he does. I took my Mother here for Mother's Day Lunch. The food offering was great and the service was on point. They were out of the Chicken Fried Chicken by the time we reached the front of the line. We received a number, paid for our food and found a table. A manager saw the number on our table and came to check on us. (Very Attentive) She made sure that we got our food. The table service was great, Joanne kept our drinks filled and checked on us a few times. She smelt good (like clean shampoo) which has nothing to do with this review but just thought I would throw that in there. Whenever going to Luby's I select my meal by what looks good after sitting under that heat lamp for so long. This time I got the chicken fried chicken (I mean, how else are you gonna fry chicken?) because it was one of the only dishes that wasn't dried out from the heat. I also got the cabbage, mashed potatoes and fried okra. Everything was pretty good, your standard cafeteria fare with possibly a touch more flavor. The Lube has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. Just came in the other day and I haven't been here in a few years. It's pretty much the Sam. Walk up, get a tray, grab silverware, get some food and dessert, and then grab a drink. You then pay the guy at the register and find a place to sit and enjoy your meal. I usually have the white baked fish when they have some, and it is tasty. The fish has good tasting, and it is a healthy meal if you're looking for something of that nature. For the sides I order spinach and fried okra or macaroni and cheese. The spinach could have a little more flavor, but all the other things I get are pretty good. Whenever they are out of the fish I get the chicken fried chicken. It's pretty good with good flavoring, and taste. The sides I order vary from time to time but all of them are pretty good, and there are many healthy choices. Luby's will still be a favorite of mine, but they could improve on some of the tastes. I would give zero stars if that was an option. Went Saturday for their breakfast buffet and it was awful! Why do they put the food in those white serving trays to get cold? Back in the day, they would use the silver serving trays with hot water underneath to keep the food warm. The food on this buffet was all cold. The pancake was dense and chewy. Butter was frozen and couldn't spread it on anything. Eggs were cold and hard. The only thing decent was the bacon. But then again, how hard is it to screw up bacon? My daughter and I couldn't get out of there fast enough... both only having taken a few bites of food. Absolutely despicable that they serve food like that. I had to talk my daughter in to giving it a try since she never has good experiences at Luby's. I can't believe I gave up Ihop for that mess. $7.99 for all you can eat inedible food and close to $4 for a soda. Don't go there! read more

Luby's used to be a very good place to eat. I have been going to various locations around Houston since around 1980. Tonight everything was mediocre at best. It is difficult to get a salad as the new version of the salad area is basically unmanned. The vegetables were very cold as was the bread. I realized that the reason everything was cold is because the business is so slow it takes a long to time for Luby's to sell a full tray of anything. So various items just set under the heating lamp and get cold. You used to pay after you had eaten but now you have to pay before. Is that a coincidence or is that because the food quality has gone downhill so much over the last years this leaves little chance for complaints or refunds at the register? read more

I saw a guy that looked like he was in charge with no sense of urgency walking around like it was all no big deal. That's why the restaurant is mostly empty everytime we go.
