Luca Pizza is to pizza what I am to a shoe store. Those of you who know me will understand this statement. I'm unsure why people voluntarily go to Luca Pizza. I think maybe it's low self-esteem and they think they don't deserve good pizza. Luca notes that this is "Old World Quality Italian Style." That's sort of like the people who claim being Native American because their great-great-great-great grandma met a Native American once. Seriously, though. I wonder if "Old World" explains why tonight's pizza slice tasted like it was two days old? Okay. Okay. I'll stop. Seriously, though. Luca Pizza is definitely middling pizza on a good day. Started by a family that relocated from Italy to New York in 1966, this is a chain with over 150 restaurants and a strong mall presence. Truthfully, this is decent enough for mall pizza but I'll be firm in the idea that if you paid this much for pizza in an actual restaurant you'd be sending the food back. Tonight's meal, in particular, was closer to 2-stars but I'm deferring to 3 because tonight was definitely my worst experience to date. This Luca is located in the food court at Castleton Square Mall. You can fairly easily do pick up at the food court as there's a private entrance. Most of the places will also do a curb side gig. Luca offers pizza by the slice along with combo deals, full pizzas, and a variety of other products. They also offer breadsticks and your usual fountain drinks. They have a sweet tea option - not an unsweetened tea option. I ordered a slice of pepperoni, two pepperoni breadsticks, and it comes with a 21-ounce drink. The meal came in at $9.80. While this is certainly under fast casual prices, it's more than quite a few fast food restaurants and, as I noted, the quality varies from mall pizza to mawful pizza. The slices are larger - when fresh they're not bad. I'm not sure what went wrong tonight as they typically heat them up upon order. The staff here is typically friendly and they were all masked. Tables at Castleton Square are well spaced - they're usual kiddie play area is currently closed. Mask compliance was incredibly hit-and-miss here. While you obviously don't wear while eating, most were openly flaunting that. This food court has a variety of other options, though this place and Chick-fil-A seem to be the most popular. This is definitely not a destination pizza joint, but if you're in the mall and craving a slice it's typically decent enough. read more

This is by FAR my fav pizza place! Always has been since I discovered it. Their pizza is just so good and what makes it even better is their cheese sauce. I luv the large variety of options also. Not just one kind of bread stick/cheese stick or calzone. Never a disappointment. Always the highlight of going to the mall. Just sad not many Di Roma's are around anymore. read more

Food court is in back of mall. Hard to find, hard to park, small parking spots. I waited in line. My entree wasn't displayed so I moved to the pay line. I tell the guy what I want and he demands I restart the line and start the other side. I should have left. I waited and ordered again. Food took 5 minutes to get. Food was hot. I ordered to go but it came as dine in. The food was okay. Premade frozen lasagna and large pesto Italian roll. The portions were big enough. I wasn't able to finish the roll. They did let me get a refill without paying. I believe the business is family owned by a Mexican Latino family. Price for one meal for one person was $15. The kiosk reminds me of the old Sbarros. We came to the food court after a car issue and we needed a bite to eat. My daughter and I chose pizza and breadsticks. We enjoyed them. We got some stix with pepperoni and some plain to share with the others in our group. The food is good for an afternoon bite to keep us moving. I have to say the Castleton mall is not my favorite mall to go to to be perfectly honest. However I come to Luca's every time I do; I come here. I swear every time I come, I'm never disappointed. Their pizza is cooked simply to perfection-every time-no matter what kind. Luca's has an array of pizzas, calzones, twisty bread salads, pastas-you name it. If it's quintessentially Italian food-Lucas will probably have it. And it'll be delicious. I love how fresh their pizza also is and all the variety of selections they always have. My favorite is the chicken bacon ranch, the buffalo chicken and the bbq chicken pizza; just depends on what mood I'm in. No matter what, I'm never disappointed. We had some issues here tonight when it came to paying. Apparently when you order two slices of cheese pizza (one per person) it can come out to $10.99 although the menu says it's $3.95 for a slice. There is a combo for a single person to order 2 slices of pizza and get a drink and side but that is definitely not what we were going for. And then all of a sudden the cashier is arguing with us who's right. We didn't even see the combo board on the side until she pointed it out. We explained the situation to another staff member who was able to refund us in cash because they can't make returns on a credit card. Nonetheless, the pizza here is really delicious for mall pizza. It's been here for years despite the several other restaurants that constantly switch over to something new. You can see all the menu options laid out in front of you and then they finish cooking everything so it's nice and hot. read more

This is my favorite Italian place in the area. The location might be a surprise to some. Despite being in a food court the food is 5 stars! I love the pepperoni breadsticks. They always taste fresh, are warm, and the cheese is delicious. The staff is always very friendly and everything always appeared very clean/well maintained. I HIGHLY recommend stopping by here to get an order of breadsticks. I like it so much I always buy extras to take for another meal later. read more

Late 80s and early 90s was luca pizza was bought by someone who really care about making good food that you cant compare To Luca Pizza .
